I love this place. Walking through the doors hits you with a vibe that screams, it is okay to sit down, relax, and enjoy your meal. Ive had: Scrambled eggs which tastes fresh and delicious. Chicken salad sandwich which is incredible! My favorite is an everything bagel with one side of vegetable cream cheese which is made by them and veggies(lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers) with a side of their homemade ramen slaw and a side of bread chips. Teas: The dried teas are delicious and fresh waiting to be pulled out of jars to your liking which you can mix and match and or create your own recipes. I have not tried the baked goods, sorry. Been here several times. It's a small locally owned coffee shop. It's part of a small strip mall, among several other strip malls. The counter is right as you walk in. There is seating available for small groups 2-6 people. There is also another adjacent room for additional seating. There is plenty of natural light coming in from the windows. They sell other merchandise at/near the counter. It's a bit cluttered (IMHO). There are lots of regulars that show up here. On most Fridays, during lunch there is a musician playing guitar, and taking requests. It's a relaxing and joyful atmosphere. They offer lots of different lattes, teas, and baked goods. They also make soups and sandwiches. On this day I ordered my usual London Fog (little vanilla, little lavender, and extra foam). I wasn't going to get anything to eat, but they had some freshly baked cinnamon rolls on the counter. The smell was irresistible, so I also got one of those. Both the latte and the roll were excellent. The cinnamon roll was slathered with cream cheese frosting. Yummy, but way to much for me. I would call this a hidden gem of Mukwonago. Tucked away by the Taco Bell is a small little coffee shop with a big menu of deliciousness. They have great breakfast sandwiches. Their monthly drinks offer a larger variety for both coffee and non coffee drinkers. The staff are always friendly and attentive which I appreciate. read more

I have gone here several times and never had a bad meal. They have great pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas for take-out as well. Staff is polite and helpful. Several times when we went here they had live music (a guitarist singing mostly oldies). They recently expanded. read more

We had a very good breakfast here, then went back for lunch a few days later which was equally good. For breakfast, I had a jalapeno popper bagel, which was basically an asiago bagel with dill cream cheese and jalapenos - nice. I'm not sure where they get their bagels from, but they taste very fresh for not having been made in house (at least I don't think they were). Amy had a cinnamon roll - which was the big surprise of the meal! In the pastry case, the cinnamon rolls looked kind of plain, with no icing on them. However, we spotted one being brought out and it had a huge scoop of... was it whipped cream? ice cream? No! It was a huge scoop of frosting! Check out the picture, just unbelievable! The roll itself was a good one, but the over-the-top frosting just put it in a different league. Lunch a few days later didn't have that big of a surprise, but it was very good. I had a Ruben panini and Amy had a chicken salad sandwich. We'd have both again. Each came with a really good ramen slaw and bagel chips. The drinks are noteworthy too. Amy had a really good mocha and I had one of their pretty large selection of loose leaf teas. Since I don't drink coffee regularly, I really appreciate that the tea choices were so abundant - and they brew it well also. Overall a really good breakfast and lunch place. I really enjoy coming here. Nothing fake or pretentious, no bs or gimmicky seed to plate junk. They don't try to be something they aren't. Just good people, good food, good vibes and great prices. This is my favorite hole in the wall type of place for lunch. I love it. And I think you will too. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they have a large variety of sugar-free syrups, as well as dairy-free milk substitutes. My favorite - a sugar-free caramel iced latte with oat milk - delicious! Not to mention, the friendliness of the staff is a wonderful start to the morning. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese along with my coffee and I believe my total was about $6. Could use an aesthetic update. Great prices, delicious coffees, and wonderful service. read more

This place is cute, but has some real oddities about it that keep it from making 4 stars. Upon entering, I went to use the restroom. The faucet handle came off in my hand. There was almost no soap in the little container on the sink. We ordered coffee, but the three containers on the counter aren't labeled. I had to ask what was in them. No creamer or half n half are provided. Again, I had to ask the cashier. I also noted the cupcakes just sitting uncovered on the counter. A cover would make that display equally appealing, but more hygienic. Few breakfast options, which was fine I guess. But choices were uninspired. I got a croissant with ham, egg and cheese, and my husband had sausage, egg and cheese. Both were ok, but we would have paid more for an herb cheese or another enhancement on the flavor. My little one wanted the apple oatmeal, but it came with a very small amount of uncooked apple and a side of nuts which were not toasted. The little container of milk was a nice touch, but extra care with the star of the dish - the apple would have really made this so much tastier. I think Gordon Ramsay would rant, seasoning!!! if he came here. It's a great place for coffee, but breakfast options are lacking. The decor is cute, but more attention to the food and customer experience is needed here. I still prefer patronizing this local spot instead of a chain. read more

Amazing little café right off the highway in Mukwonago. The staff is incredibly sweet and they offer a large variety of breakfast, lunch and even Vegan options. My husband and I recently visited for the first time this past weekend and were blown away. I had the Chickpea sandwich which was super flavorful and my husband had 1/2 TBLT sandwich, 1/2 Berry-spinach salad combo and loved everything. I went to Shanahan's this morning to support local as I saw a Starbucks across the street. I walked right into the deli case, and saw a cinnamon roll and ordered it with a small coffee! I was excited, hungry, sat down and waited for my cinnamon roll to be warmed up in the microwave. However, after moments of looking around, I lost my appetite, I genuinely felt filthy in this restaurant establishment. I looked at the floors and noticed it was only swept and mopped around the surrounding furniture, the tables and chairs were dirty, grimy coffee pots, a broken newspaper stand, windows had filth on them as well. I can't imagine what the back looks like if the front looks like this. A broken newspaper stand,coffee pots, I politely asked for a to go box and put my cinnamon roll in the garbage. This is a nice honest, local coffee shop with quality coffee and nice sammichs both breakfast and lunch. I like it because they can make your drink your way and are not streamlined. I like powder versus liquid chocolate in my mochas and they offer both. They also have good pastries and sammichs made in house! I don't think it's expensive and I think they have healthy options and delectable pastries made by the chef and owner. The family is personable working in house and service as expected at an independent coffee shop! Great! They have some arts for sale as well. Very quaint and homey. Not as cozy as you may want to hang out but set up more to serve breakfast and lunch. I think the sammichs are really good and worth every penny. I think the breakfast sammichs have a bit toooooo much egg on but that's just my preference. I would say worth a visit for coffee and lunch if in Mukwonago, just like elegant farmer, visit Shanahan's. read more
