I will start this off by saying the service was phenomenal. Maryland was great and so were the bartenders. They made my friend a mocktail because she was pregnant. My filet was less than desirable so if you go there don't order it. I should've ordered the fish tacos. My husband said his sandwich was good. My friends pasta dish was pretty good she said. Local bar and classic Wisconsin fish fry spot. We do get take out fish fry a lot and recently they did add a service charge for take out which is disappointing. The food is always good though. Fish fry is plentiful and consistent. My husband gets the chicken tenders and loves them. Looking forward to trying dine in at some point. Does get busy especially on Fridays. read more

If I could double the stars, I would! We went today for an early dinner to celebrate our 37th anniversary. It was about 12:30 in the afternoon and I ordered the calamari appetizer, fillet and scallops with baked potato and steamed broccoli. My husband ordered onion rings for his appetizer, a small cheese and sausage pizza (he tries the pizza everywhere he goes) and a gyro sandwich. I honestly can't remember ever having a meal where every thing I ordered was prepared absolutely perfect and tasted amazing!! The Calamari was tender and delicious served with marinara and Parmesan, the onion rings were big, thick and delicious! The salad that came with our meal was not average by any means. It had tomato, cucumber and croutons, and not just one piece of each either! And the honey mustard dressing was really really good. I ordered my steak rare and it was very tender, perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious! The scallops melted in my mouth, again cooked perfectly. Oh, and the baked potato! I don't know why it was so good but it was perfectly cooked, tasted fresh and wasn't sitting in an oven too long making the skin hard. It was fluffy, buttery and probably the best baked potato I've ever had! I almost liked it better than the steak! The broccoli was steamed perfectly, bright green and crisp tender. My husband loved his pizza, it had a good amount of cheese and sausage on it, and the crust was nice and thin and crispy. He said the gyro was just average. We wanted to sit in a little more private area at the booth in the corner facing the lake, but it was taken when we got there. They were kind enough to let us move there after the people that were sitting there left. All in all it was a very good experience and we felt like were treated as if we were regulars. This place is a blast. We stumbled in Saturday at 8pm sunburned and a bit foggy after a day at the Badger game, no reservations, just hungry and thirsty. It was packed but the bartenders couldn't have been more gracious and friendly. Got us seats at the bar and beverages while we marveled at our luck finding this place. Someone in your party will need to order their fried chicken and share, it was crispy, moist and quite delicious. We were too late to get any prime rib, but will remedy that on a Saturday in the near future. But if that's your jam, get there by 7pm so you don't miss out. Our teenager enjoyed his quesadilla, the tenderloin sandwich was on point as were the proper WI Old Fashioneds. This is a classy but unpretentious place. Clearly, a semi-fancy night out for some folks, but it's fine if you wander in wearing your game day finery and a glazed look in your eye. They have an outdoor patio overlooking Lake Beulah/Crooked Lake (not sure why it has two names). What really struck us was how happy everyone there was, it had such a great vibe. The appetizers here were actually really good, but unfortunately the bartender, Mark, ruined the entire experience. From the moment we sat down, he was rude, short, and completely unapologetic. We even tried to smooth things over, telling him I We understood people have bad days and asking if we could just reset and start fresh. Instead, he walked away in the middle of our order--after we'd already spent over $100 on appetizers--and came back even more frustrated and sharp, saying, "What was it that you want now?" At that point, the whole mood had shifted. I asked to cancel the dinner order since it hadn't been started yet. My fiancé asked Mark to simply apologize for the way he was acting--something his own friend also pointed out would be the right thing to do. Mark's response? "You think she deserves an apology? Well, you apologize to her then." Honestly, I was stunned. Later, I even tried to be the bigger person, walked back to him, and apologized in case there was any misunderstanding. His response was just, "You can leave now." That was the final straw. We spoke with Jon, the owner, on our way out, and instead of addressing the issue seriously, he excused the behavior by saying he and Mark were high school friends and that Mark "goes through periods like this." He promised to make it right, but we never received a call or any follow-up. It's such a shame because the Ahi Tuna and Scallops were really good, but the way Mark treated us--and the way Jon stood by it--means we won't be coming back. If you do want to support this place, maybe stick to takeout. Dining in just isn't worth putting up with that kind of treatment. We will start with their ice machine has been broken. They couldn't supply ice water so they charged 2.50 for a bottle. It was 96 degrees out. Secondly we ordered to tap beers. Out of Spotted Cow. Beers were both WARM. Nothing resembling cold beer. Told the waitress and ordered two bottled beers. We were charged for the warm beers we couldn't drink ($11.00). Thirdly why is it $6.00 for a bottle of Miller lite. The food was outrageously priced. $19.00 for two hot dogs. Food itself was good. read more

I really enjoyed my meal here. The location is tucked back on Lake Beulah, and the view is really nice. They take advantage of it with all the windows. The server we had was excellent - quick, attentive, and made good conversation. Our food came quickly and it was so delicious. remarkable service... the food was just ok. the ambiance is probably better in the summer - indoors, i felt like i was stuck in the middle of a late 70s/early 80s sitcom set. i didn't do enough homework on this spot as i thought it would be a more laid back bar atmosphere; it's more like a supper club. it's casual enough to bring the kiddos though - and they enjoyed. i got the eggplant "fries" - cool item that you don't normally see on a menu and vegi me SO appreciates the variety. they were batter heavy and a bit greasy, unfortunately. wished there instead was a vegetarian sandwich, burger. read more

Stumbled in here by mistake, crossing the country and came across this place and it caught my eye. Exit the freeway cut thru a little neighborhood and "BAM" looks like paradise, lakefront . Excellent spot to get hammered and walk home from. A fisherman's paradise. Calamari, chowder, lobster tails and the Fillet are all excellent. So glad we stopped here, chalk up another good memory. What a gem! The setting is great, especially if you're able to sit outside at sunset. The drinks were well crafted. The Bloody Mary is a meal of fresh veggies. The pickles taste like they too are fresh made. The low point was the bland French onion soup. Easily remedied if they'd simply put some (more?) au jus into the broth. My Philly cheesesteak wasn't pats or Genos, but this isn't Philadelphia. Instead this was a well crafted steak sandwich served in pillowy soft bread with a side of au jus. Very tasty. Showed up 20 minutes early for a 6 pm Friday night reservation. Party of 6. Seated right away. Two of us showed up a few minutes before our other friends coming from farther away. Menu is pricy. Paper napkins and inexpensive flatware. Can forgive that. It's a dockside place. Tara was a good server. Knew the menu well. Asked for an ice water with lemon before our friends arrived. Friends showed up 10 min later and we all got drinks but still no water. Asked again and received 4 ounce plastic cups of water. Seven bucks for a root beer that was lukewarm. No glasses and no ice. Also beers delivered in bottles without a glass. Wine was full of dregs at the bottom. Only 3 reds available. They replaced it. A hurricane specialty drink was mostly ice and had only maybe 4 ounces of liquid in it. Way overpriced. Ordered the chips and guacamole. Heard the guacamole was good but the chips were medium brown and tasted slightly burnt. Left most of those behind. The calamari was a bit overdone to the point that some of it was rubbery. The shrimp cocktail was okay. Shrimp were not jumbo but were large. Still, a very expensive price for 6 shrimp. Soup was delivered to me but I hadn't ordered it. Was moved to the right diner. Then one diner who ordered soup never got it and had to ask. Finally came around the same time as his meal. Entrees came. One had the side of shrimp cooked wrong so that delayed our meal a bit. Several entrees were delivered to the wrong diners and had to again be shuffled around the table. The entrees were decent. Baked fish and fish tacos and scarpacci and risotto. Check came. 3% surcharge for credit cards was added. I'd have asked about removing at as we planned to pay cash, but the owner (?) came over with a reserved sign in his hand and waved it and said he had another table coming in (they weren't there yet) and indicated we should be leaving. So I didn't even address it and hope our server got the extra cash. Also, I told him we'd be going soon but two of our ladies needed to use the restroom and it was a single. We didn't linger nor order dessert or coffee. We ate quickly and left quickly. We were long gone within 75 min of ordering drinks. Given that the kitchen mixed up several things and we spent $60 per diner with a hefty tip, I was shocked that we were being encouraged in such a manner to vacate the table. It put a damper on the entire evening thereafter. Really not a great look for a restaurant to push first time customers out the door like this. We will not go back. read more

This place earned every star--fast, friendly service; great setting dockside on Lake Beaulah; excellent value; perfect prine rib with ample sides. Side not and warning: Bloody Mary's are their signature drink, and its really more of a garden salad on top of vodka. A good but not great Bloody that was as filling as the meal. read more

In the last two months I've met some family here because it was halfway around 30 minutes each. Both times the food was really awesome and I'm looking forward to meeting again and along with me they can't wait to try the next thing on the menu. This is the place to go for Friday fish fry in Wisconsin ! We have tried the baked and fried cod, shrimp, and the fish tacos which were all amazing! We aren't a fan of the coleslaw but the fresh cut fries more than make up for that. O and the view!! The restaurant is sitting right on the lake shore with windows on 3 sides allow for a beautiful view. It is small inside the restaurant and can get busy - once I was seated I felt like we had enough space and didn't feel cramped at all. We aren't from the area but the drive is definitely worth it for the food and view. read more

We like local places off the beaten paths. Lulabell's is worth the little extra time it takes to travel off I43 between Milwaukee and Beloit. I was a little disappointed at first that Lulabell's was out of prime rib when we had made a special trip for just that. It was around 7 PM on a Saturday night, though, so I can't complain too much about their being sold out. In any case, we had a couple of excellent tenderloin filets - one with shrimp. They were perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful. Actually, the steaks were so large that we ended up sharing one and taking the other home untouched. It made fantastic leftovers later in the week. We ate at the bar and service was very good, even though the bartenders were busy. Drinks were good too. I'm looking forward to getting to try the prime rib one of these days. We'll definitely need to plan ahead and get there a little earlier! read more

We've consistently been going to Lulabell's for 3 yrs now but we've all noticed that the quality of their food has really gone downhill. Prices have definitely gone up though!! Husband, son & I went last night and our dinners were just bad. Chicken fingers, fries and chicken on sandwich were all WAY over cooked. The lettuce was old, and except for the celery, the veggies in the Bloody Mary had brown edges. The honey mustard sauce had the consistency of water!! None of us finished our dinners. This has been very disappointing for us as we love the setting and location of this restaurant. Sadly,we won't be back. read more

My family and I went there to have lunch and drinks. We entered and it was fairly busy, but there were plenty of open tables. The owner behind the bar said just have a seat at the bar and we'll get a table ready for you (mind you plenty of open tables that were set and clean). We ordered a drink at the bar and waited. After 20 minutes , reminded him that we were still waiting, he said "give me 5 minutes". 15 minutes passed and decided we were leaving. Closed our tab and started heading out the door. He said your table is ready and pointed at a table that was empty and clean since the moment we entered the restaurant. We decided to just leave. Not sure if it is incompetence or assuring you order drinks at the bar, but we were done waiting. Cannot speak for the food since we didn't have any. But if by chance you go there, try and make sure you are not waiting for a table as they persuade you to go to the bar. read more

We went out looking for a place for pizza, and they didn't disappoint. Our pizza was made to order and served hot. I had noticed that they recently added pasta dishes to the menu. So next time we're out and about, we'll have to give it a try. Our service was great and the server was pleasant. The ambiance was great overlooking Lake Beulah. The dining area is situated with high top tables and comfortable chairs. My wife has issues with bad knees but easily managed to be seated without any problems so we enjoyed the whole experience and will be back for more. read more
