A fairly new restaurant in the Little Rock dining scene*, Fork by Ira is a hidden, farm-to-table gem. Don't let the negative reviews deter you; since it's new, the restaurant is still working out its rhythm and pacing. Staff attended to our party of 8--including two children--and we wanted for nothing. Cocktails were ordered and given fairly quickly. Water service was efficient. I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were plump, succulent, and well-seasoned. The grits were some of the best I had; flavorful and wonderfully textured. Although I prefer my grits to be creamier with breakfast and almost like a blank canvas bland so it absorbs the flavor of its main dish, for my lunch or dinner grits, I love a more textured grits with its own unique flavor profile that complements its entree. On this end, Fork's grits were unforgettable. They have a rotating list of deserts. Their chocolate creme brulee deserves to have a permanent spot. It was decadent; the dark chocolate had that wonderful burst of bitterness that mellowed down to an earthy undertone. Their butterfly cake was moist and elegantly balanced the contrasting sweetness of a banana and the subtle tart of a pineapple. My goddaughter declared it as her favorite. Their espresso martini had that perfect Mama Bear balance of the nuanced bitterness from the espresso bean, velvetness of the liqueur, and the crispness of the vodka. It was intense yet refreshing. Took my friend here for his birthday and had an overall good experience! Most of the negative reviews I saw on Yelp were about service and our server was actually excellent. I forgot her name but she did a great job. The appetizers we ordered were good, definitely recommend the bread with 3 pestos. Cocktails were good, dessert was excellent. The mains were the only part that was lacking for me. I got the catfish and my friend got the shrimp and grits. The protein in our dishes were great. But the grits were just not it. They didn't really have a flavor, the texture wasn't enjoyable and after I had one bite I just left the rest of it alone (bummer when it's half of the dish). Another thing is the ambiance, the interior felt pretty outdated it was quite dead inside. Overall I'd say it's worth a try if you have a bit of extra money for a meal, but it's not an absolute must try. read more

Came in on Valentine's day with a reservation. They sat us immediately. After that... nothing. We waited for a server, water, anything... but nothing. A server came by with water for another table, filled theirs, looked around but not towards our table and was walking away. I had to shout "excuse me!" and asked for water and if our server will be with us. He said they will be with us right away. Waited... waited... waited... nothing. After 20mins we walked out. Horrible to nonexistent hospitality and service. We arrived for our reservation for two, seated, placed a drink order and then were never spoken to or acknowledged in any way by any server, let alone our own for the next 30 min. No food order was taken and we sat until we alerted a nearby server that we would just like to pay for our drinks and leave. Another 2 minutes passed with no further acknowledgment of the situation until finally we were able to pay (This included $14 for a mocktail) and leave. We were never able to place an order for dinner and left without eating. Staff was unapologetic, unorganized and presented the most negligent hospitality I've ever experienced in Little Rock, AR dining. read more

When I saw the negative comments I hesitated considering this as our big date night. SO glad I didn't mind the negative comments because it is one of the best meals my partner and I have had in Little Rock in the last couple years. Speaking for myself it may be one of the best meals I have ever had here. I got the catfish after hearing from a group that were leaving it was wonderful, and it truly was fantastic! A complete disaster of an evening at this restaurant. There aren't enough words to describe how bad our experience was. The waitstaff was nowhere to be found; it took 3 hours to get through a subpar dinner. We'd go 20-30 minutes between even SEEING a server. We had to beg for drinks several times. Took 40 minutes to get water brought to our table. The food was extremely underwhelming. The price was ridiculous for quality of food. We felt like we were on the show Punked.... it was THAT BAD The one positive was the bartender made a fantastic espresso martini. 1 star is being extremely generous. read more

We ordered takeout and everything was delicious! We got salmon as our main course, along with two appetizers and two salads. The Grilled Pear Salad and Caesar Salad with shrimp were amazing. Order was ready in about fifteen minutes. Highly recommend! read more

Fork LR a Restaurant by Ira. My wife and I shared the poblano cheesecake and the poached salmon salad. He paired our meal with a fantastic Pinot noir. I had the special for the night house made cannelloni stuffed with filet mignon and covered with an amazing sauce (pictured below). For desert my wife and I shared a slice of his hummingbird cake. The meal was absolutely off the chain. Ira Mittelman is a gastronomical genius the likes of which Little Rock has not seen since Jacques and Suzanne shut down some years ago. Ira's staff is amazing as well Nels the sous chef compliments and adds to Ira's impressive talent. The bartender is amazing and has created my new favorite drink "The Fork Negroni". The wait staff provides excellent service and goes above and beyond to make the meal an experience. Ira is the best host I have ever had the pleasure to enjoy a meal with. Really enjoyed Fork! Went for lunch the day after the grand opening and both food and service were great. Very relaxing dining space as well. Loved my pasta and my son enjoyed his shrimp tacos. When I first heard the announcement about this restaurant opening, I was so excited and had high expectations! But after trying and tasting the food, I was so disappointed! Matter of fact, it would be very hard for me to probably ever go back. I spent about $150 at this restaurant and my husband, sister, and I didn't enjoy anything that was purchased! I think it's important for the owners to have someone that can be brutally honest with them on staff so maybe they can find a better way and roadmap to make some very critical changes for long-term success, satisfaction, and reputation. read more

The single worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my life. These people seemed surprised every time someone walked in with a reservation. We got there at 6:15, and there were only about 5 other tables in the restaurant. Somehow even still it took half an hour just for someone to come take our order. After waiting and waiting and waiting I had to go up to the host stand twice to ask about our food. I was told our order had not been lost but the kitchen was "just that behind." Finally at 7:45 (an hour and a half after we entered) we received our first appetizer. It was cold as though it had just been sitting for an hour after being prepared. This nonsense continued for every other course of the meal. I asked multiple times to speak to management and figure out what was going on, because if I'd known how bad things were we simply would have left. No manager ever appeared to speak to us in the entire 3 hours we were stuck at the restaurant. As far as I can tell, there wasn't one. The whole restaurant had 1 waiter for every single table, so lack of attentiveness was absolutely not his fault but management/ownership's. Every plate was cold, it took 3 hours to get the last of our meal which came in to go boxes we didn't ask for, as if the restaurant was trying to push us out. Nobody was available to explain what was going on or offer any kind of compensation for the horrible service. All of this, the restaurant believed, was worth $95 a person before tax and gratuity. Never again will I return to this establishment and I'd be astonished if their doors are still open in a few months. Truly a masterclass in how not to run a business. read more

We sit, and eventually are brought water and menus that were not online and only have one option for meals, $98 a person. Whatever. As we look around this restaurant we notice our poor waiter is waiting on every table. Eventually we place our order after 30 minutes. And one by one tables around us keep getting up and leaving with no food nothing. After an hour and fifteen minutes we ask what is going on. We get no consolation. We look up wait time at restaurants nearby. But we regretfully decide to stay here. Our food comes out eventually and it's good food no doubt. But it's lukewarm as if it had been sitting on counter for 20 minutes and took so long that we start to theorize that there are only 5 people working in this whole place. I have never written a yelp review before, but now i have. We came to this restaurant for the first time to celebrate Valentine's day, a special day for us. From the beginning, it took the host a few minutes to find our reservation until we were finally seated. We waited around 10 minutes until the waiter first arrived. I couldn't tell you what his name was because the first words out of his mouth were "what do yall want". We ordered from a set four course menu ($95 per person) along with ordering a glass of wine. Our waiter took our order and left, and that was the last time we saw him the rest of the 2 hours we were stuck at the restaurant. It took us 30 minutes to get our appetizers which needed salt for any sort of flavor. At the hour mark of being there, we received our soups which was the only good thing we ate the whole night. We received our main course 30 minutes later and then our dessert at the 2 hour mark. I quickly asked the server who brought our dessert out for the check because it was hard to get any sort of service the whole night. We spent over $200 for the worst experience possible. We never got our waters refilled and never asked if we wanted another glass of wine. This experience was not just us. There was another couple who was there longer than us who waited an hour and a half for their main course and never received their soups. There was another couple who walked out because they had not even been helped after 45 minutes of waiting at their table. It was so disappointing having a special day like Valentines day ruined for us and other people. If you want to be a high end overpriced restaurant thats loved, it all starts with the service.
