Protesters doused from Cache balcony People protesting with signs on the sidewalk in front of Cache Restaurant last night, where Republican presidential hopeful Sen. Ted Cruz was dining, say Cache owner Payne Harding emptied a champagne bucket of water on them from the second floor balcony of the restaurant. Robert Nunn, Jennifer Pierce and James Ryan Bozeman were at the corner of President Clinton Avenue and River Market Avenue about 9:35 p.m. holding signs saying "Now Go Away" and other anti-Republican slogans when they were doused. Apparently, Bozeman was in the direct line of fire; he filed a report at the substation in the River Market (the police, however, cannot find the report, though they have an incident number provided by 911). Nunn was not hit, a good thing since he wears hearing aids that would have shorted out from water. Pierce was splashed. We attempted to contact Harding, but have not heard back. The protesters had hoped to see Cruz when he came out the front door,but he left by the back, apparently. Gov. Asa Hutchinson, however, came out the front door and waved to the protesters. Went in for drinks one night after a work sponsored event downtown and received some 50/50 service. The hostess was extremely rude and visibly cringed at what myself and my company was wearing (untucked button down shirt with nice jeans and dress shoes, and the girls were in casual dresses). We should have left then, but we seated away from everybody else. Paid around 14 dollars for one cocktail that, I admit, was very good. The bartender serving us was alright, although it took her around 35 minutes to make 3 drinks (she warned about this but come on. 35 minutes? Get some more staff if you're going to charge 14 dollar for a glass with some bourbon and egg white in it). When leaving, the hostess gave us the same rude treatment and hurried us out the door. This place isn't about food; it's about being rich and needed somewhere to spend it. If you want glam andokay food, go here. If you want great food, great service, and a great experience, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This is Little Rock for cryin out loud, not New York. The owner and the people who work here need to get over themselves. They're outclassed by several local restaurateurs with 1/10th the money and facilities. read more

I had planned to arrange a large group to dine out here in a few weeks, but today's headlines in local television media regarding the behavior of the chef and one of the owners has caused me to change plans in favor of a more professional establishment. The chef and owner assaulted a band of street protestors last night by overturning a bucket of water on them from the restaurant balcony. If this is how management and staff treat private individuals on the public sidewalks outside their restaurant, I can not imagine how their customer service would be if one of the members in my business delegation were to have any issue with his or her meal. Aggressive and unbusinesslike behavior such as this indicates similar potential behavior table side. I have advised our planning team to avoid cache for any future functions. This public display is an insult to welcoming face our city portrays, and is frankly unacceptable anywhere. read more

Husband and I were in this location a little over a week ago. We both ordered the fried tomato with blue cheese and bacon. You would think for $9.00 for that alone you would get more than three paper thin sliced fried tomatoes in a tasteless breading with about a tablespoon of blue cheese. However, I do have to admit what blue cheese I did have, it was the best I had ever tasted in my life and I am a huge blue cheese fan. If this wasn't home made they found the best blue cheese in distributor in the word. With this two dishes and a couple drinks each our bill came to a little over $70.00. Way Way over priced to be no more special than what they are and the town they are in. A fine dinning in NYC they are not but they are trying to pretend they are, price and everything else. Heard a lot about this place. As Flava said -- don't believe the hype. The apps, being no worse than abysmal, flattered to deceive. "Crisp" calamari were soggy, the squid in both texture and taste bringing to mind a condom fitted over an unwashed garlic press the day timetable confusion forced the cookery teacher to take sex education at short notice. The seared foie gras -- I'd swear that was actually fried baloney (not out of the question in Arkansas). And the shrimp cocktail. Well the look on the servers face should have tipped us off. Now as I write this, I regret leaving after the failed appetizer course. I'm spending so much time on this toilet that I've could write quite the extensive review. Alas we left. If you want to pay $76 for a Flippin ribeye... This is your place. I thought it was a little ostentatious although the place is very visually appealing. We went in for drinks a couple of weeks ago and paid a lot of money and had poor service. I'm glad we didn't spring for dinner. Last night they had some kind of event for Ted Cruz who was here promoting his presidential race from Texas. Love him, hate him, that's not the point. There were three or four young protesters standing outside the restaurant and the owner of this place dumped water on them from a champagne tub. I'll never spend another dime there. read more

This restaurant is vastly over-priced and the quality of the food is below par for an "upscale" eatery. Also, the place is owned and run by a right-wing fanatic named Payne Harding, who recently assaulted a veteran who was peacefully protesting Senator Ted Cruz's visit to that restaurant. The veteran was standing outside and Mr. Harding threw a bucket of water on the man from a second-floor window. For anyone who believes in the First Amendment and who stands for honoring veterans, not assaulting them, this restaurant should be avoided entirely. Had my birthday there back in August first time there so I'm a little late but I had a great time and the staff upstairs were fast on their feet to make it a great night for me. We've been back a couple times since and had more good experiences. read more
