After a few inspiring hours at the Clinton Presidential Library we went downstairs to the 42 Bar and had an amazing Brunch. I had the Crab cakes Benedict and my wife had the Steak and Eggs. Despite it being crowded the service was excellent. FAITH was our waitress and she was just bubbly and so helpful. This was the best meal I had in Little Rock. The feeling of this indoor/outdoor restaurant right on the Arkansas River was well worth it and very reasonably Priced. read more

Not a typical museum restaurant. Food, atmosphere, service is upscale. Spouse & I had lunch while visiting the Clinton Library. We felt like we were on a romantic date instead of just taking a break from our tour! Spouse had steak salad. I had lunch special: steak, shrimp over risotto. Both were very good with a few minor issues: salad dressing was too lemony & tempura coating on shrimp was limp, not crispy. However, steaks were cooked perfectly & I'd return just to eat the risotto. Lovely view of the river park & walking bridge. Also outdoor patio seating. We enjoyed it & will return. One comment for restaurant: I'd recommend not sitting out plates of day's specials for display. Walking in & seeing food sitting out, getting old is not appetizing. Diane and I experienced an enjoyable lunch here while visiting the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum. My toasted President's Club Sandwich on Honey Wheatberry Bread was juicy and delightful. Perfectly salted and peppered Hand-Cut French Fries were excellent. We stopped by and asked if there were patio tables available. The receptionist told us it was full, which we understood and were fine with taking a window seat. Shortly after, he seated another couple adjacent to us and said, "Since you asked nicely, let me make an exception," and moved them to a patio table directly in front of us. The comment caught us off guard and seemed targeted. It made our experience uncomfortable promoting us to leave Because of that interaction, we decided not to stay. We understand seating can change, but clearer and more consistent communication would have made the experience feel more welcoming. Hostess was rude. Basically no reservation- you wait. Even with large number open tables. Server never put in drink order. Had to go to bar and ask. Food was cold. How do you serve poached eggs cold? Honestly didn't know what they were. Powdered Sugar over small fries dough. For the meal I had a Black and Bleu Steak Salad. The steak was a huge, full sized steak. Must have been 10-12 oz. Cooked correctly. The salad was filling. I might ask for a different dressing next time. It was a vinaigrette and good. Just not my favorite. They had $2 beers on special, but I couldn't order one (work). Maybe that's a Monday thing? The service was average... but the meal came out quickly. This place was absolutely GREAT for brunch. I will say that at first I was very disappointed because upon the first time I arrived. I was in a group of 5, which most were over the age of 60. We arrived around 11:45 and the valet wasn't outside yet so we missed him setting up, therefore we parked in the lot adjacent. When we arrived, we weren't aware that we needed a reservation either (the restaurant was pretty busy) and the host said we would have to come back after 1:30pm. He did recommend other places, but we did not like the ambience or options. Instead I went on open table and was able to reserve a table for 12:45. Once we got seated though, OH BOY! The view outside was great. We enjoyed all the details of the restaurant from the menu to the seal on glasses, etc. Our server was extremely sweet and patient with us. I had ordered a drink, however never got it and the manager (awesome guy) was so kind to get it for me and comp it. All of our food was hot and seasoned soooo well. The entire group loved the candied bacon especially. They said mimosas were 7/10 but probably were because of the flavors they got. Flying through, I had a layover in Little Rock, and what better to see than the Bill Clinton presidential library. They have this great restaurant overlooking the river and with both indoor and outdoor seating. I sat at the bar and tried some local drinks and food. This is quite a nice, upscale restaurant, especially for being in a presidential library (Clinton Presidential Center). And probably one of the best views in Little Rock! I sat outside on the open, pleasant patio, but the indoor space had door to ceiling, wall to wall windows, so those needing air conditioning would also get a great view. I had the pimento and ham panini, though I considered the roasted veggie wrap (I think both would have been equally great). Also had fries, which were fine, but next time I would opt for a different side. Lots of light choices--salads, wraps, sandwiches. Nice little cocktail menu. Lauren was our kind and welcoming waitress. She checked on us numerous times even though she was busy, obviously an expert at time management. We stayed in Little Rock for a long weekend to chase the solar eclipse. The restaurant in the Clinton Presidential Library, 42, is a real surprise. They serve a fabulous brunch. Crab cake was especially nice. Everyone enjoyed their selections, from Cobb Salad to the steak. We couldn't have asked for better service. They were extremely pleasant and attentive. We had our own room so we didn't have the views of the river but we felt more comfortable in a private room with our large group. More often than not while visiting family in Greenbrier, we'll venture into Little Rock and dine around the city. On this particular March day I was working and decided to take a break to drive into Little Rock and see what 42 had to offer. We'd been to the library itself once before, and were here simply for lunch, but the staff got us downstairs and checked in with zero trouble. It was a little chilly to eat outside, even though I'd requested it in the reservation. They got us a table inside though and we were seated moments later. It's a nice space with maybe a dozen or so tables inside, a nice bar and quite a view. I had the lavender carrot bisque, oyster poboy and sweet potato fries with the spicy strawberry jam and wasabi aioli. First off, Leidenheimers bread. Need I say more when ordering a poboy, in Arkansas of all places?? This kitchen wasn't screwing around, the bread options on all the sandwiches were legit and obviously selected for their mystique and appeal. The oysters were great too. The carrot bisque was great, didn't know what to expect with lavender but it was very nice. Finally, those fries were delicious, both the aioli and jam and if I could sneak their spicy strawberry jam out for a spicy chick-fil-a biscuit, woooooweeeeee. Last, and certainly not least, the staff here were all lovely. Extremely accommodating, and ever present with out being over bearing. Do yourself a favor and stop in for lunch if you do the library tour! read more

I'm not a fine dining person, and was surprised at how pretty this cafe was. It is on the bottom floor of the Presidential Library. You do have to go through the x-ray (it's an easy x-ray, they just send your purse through the scanner, then you walk through the detector. It is exactly like the JFK memorial in Dallas.) I asked, and you don't need to pay museum admission to eat there. It is very softly lit, with white table cloths, and crystal stemmed water glasses. a small vase with bamboo plants on each table. Though it was breezy, there's a nice patio seating available. Jazz music softly played in the background. You can watch the Arkansas River from your table. The reflection sometimes creates natural light. I talked to the chef, and the menu items are made from locally (when possible) grown vegetables, organic when available, and the meat is local as well. The recipes are chosen from favorite recipes, often of the MAN himself (that would be President Clinton). Each month they have a fine dining night, where chefs come in from different places, and cook dishes from other countries. I had lunch there. Chicken Panini with home made potato chips. The panini was carefully made with a mixture of mustard greens...here's the actual ingredients: Arkansas Raised Grilled Chicken Breast, Apple Cider Braised Mustard Greens, Pepper Bacon with a Maple Bourbon Aioli The homemade chips were thick, and seasoned well.I tasted a kind of Cajun origin. It cost me $8.90, and was a very memorable experience. One I hope to bring a family member to, at a later date. They really made this cafe nice and classy. The atmosphere, itself (with picture on the wall of jazz musicians, and the monotone with the bamboo greenery), makes it worth 5 stars. And the price? They could charge much more for the quality of food they offer. read more

Stopped for lunch having read all the good TA reviews on what I thought would be a quiet Monday. Glad I made a reservation as the place was 80% full. I had an excellent crab cake salad to start followed by a very tasty fish and chips. Two good wines tried a pouilly fume and a delicious Oregon King estate pinot. All this cost less than $50 including service. My server was a joy to briefly chat with and plainly knew her wines. I was very impressed with the the way the manager dealt with a small complaint that I overheard from another client. He could not have been more accommodating, and the clients seemed to leave very happy. He was a credit to the profession of hospitality. read more
