    And utterly amazing ribeye steak!!

I don't understand how this place could have a four star average -- I just had a ribeye steak that was INSANELY great! And the au gratin potatoes were something to write home about! Anytime I'm in Little Rock, I'll be back to this place for sure! Highly, highly recommended!

If you love steak, you must try Sonny Williams' Steak Room! I am a steak lover through and through and this restaurant had some of the best steak that I have had in years. The crust on my steak was amazing and perfectly seasoned. My husband's was the same and the service was great as well. There was even a live pianist playing fun Christmas songs! There was a small miscommunication when we walked in. We had called ten minutes prior as it was a Friday night at 7pm. We asked what the wait was and they said that there was no wait but when we arrived they said they were pretty fully booked with reservations for the evening. In the end we were able to be sat right away but it seemed a bit odd. The busser ran over right away to offer us water and was very kind and kept our glasses topped off all night. Our server was incredibly kind and checked in on us periodically as it was a busy Friday night. Finally, the food was simply amazing. Our appetizer was the Spinach Artichoke Dip with Crustini and this was great. As two people we ate the whole thing (and then regretted not being able to try dessert). The dish was seasoning incredibly well, it was clear the artichoke is seasoned beforehand which is a nice surprise as most dips have plain artichoke straight from the jar. My New York Strip was cooked perfectly and although I didn't get any optional sauces, the steak did not need it at all. The crust on the steak was so flavorful and they even garnish the plate edges with season salt (think classic lawry's season salt). The sautéed asparagus was perfectly cooked and I would definitely order it again. The potatoes au gratin were under seasoned but nothing some salt and pepper from the table couldn't fix. My husband got the filet mignon and was also crusted beautifully. He said that the béarnaise choice went perfect with the filet and he highly recommends. His mashed potatoes were plated beautifully (whipped and piped) and the first few bites were great but their method of plating caused the mashed potatoes to get hard within a couple minutes. For example, the potatoes quickly developed a crust which is a little unappealing. The brussels sprouts were also much softer and wetter than expected for a roasted Brussels sprouts so we would recommend going in another direction for your vegetable. We will definitely be coming back again and hopefully saving some room for dessert!

    10 oz filet

I've eaten at Sonny's 7 or 8 times. Probably 3 of the visits, the food was amazing! The other times it was average at best. Our most recent visit, I ordered the 10 oz filet for $66. I told the server I liked it "somewhere between medium and medium well." He called it "medium plus." When it came out, the entire outside was very charred, but I cut into it to find the inside was significantly undercooked. I showed it to the server and asked his opinion, and he told me it was medium rare and that he'd take it back. When it returned several minutes later, there was hardly a trace of pink on the inside (definitely well done), and the outside was so charred it made a loud crunch with every bite. I didn't want to send it back again because my wife was already done eating by then, so I just bathed it in A1 and dealt with it. Our server and hostess were friendly. The live piano was a very nice touch. Overall, my experiences here have been hit-or-miss, which is disappointing when you're spending $66 and may get a really bad steak.

Best ribeye steak I've had here. So tender and juicy. Definitely recommmed. Skip the mash potato's though. Not made from Scratch. Steak was bomb. My friend had the porter house and really enjoyed that too. Also had live piano player, that was really nice too. Loved the ambience.

Made reservations over the phone. We walked in and were immediately seated. The (recorded) music was a poor choice and annoying. Only a song later an actual pianist started playing. He played well. The restaurant wasn't busy. Only a few other tables on a weeknight when we arrived I didn't have any expectations of this restaurant as I had never heard of it and l didn't pick it. The salad options lacked description in the menu. The server didn't make it sound any more appealing than the lack luster menu did. I would've liked a salad or starter but nothing sounded good. Same goes for the cocktails. I'm not sure if they're good quality or not but they didn't sound like it so I went with wine. Would've preferred to save wine for dinner. The steak was great. We loved the charred crust on both the steaks we ordered. The au gratin potatoes lacked flavor. The green beans were good and the broccoli okay (additional fee to substitute these in lieu of green beans). The desserts are home made. The brownie okay, but thin; the cheesecake was better. If the steak wouldn't have been as good as it was, this place would've got 3 stars.

After a long travel day, I decided to give Sonny Williams a try. It came highly recommended from a friend. When I entered the restaurant I was promptly greeted. I was asked about seat preference. I opted for the bar as they are full service and I wanted to watch sports. The bartender greeted me provided me with a cup of ice water and took my drink order. I ordered a Pomegranate Martini . He made my drink and offered bread and butter. I had questions about the menu and he gave good suggestions. I ordered the lamb chops with the goat cheese on the side for my entree. The lamb was seasoned to perfection and cooked to the proper temp. For dessert I asked what was his favorites he mentioned the Bread Pudding and the Crème Brûlée. After eating bread and butter and my meal I decided on the smaller portioned Creme Brûlée. It did not disappoint. Service was top tier and delivered with a smile. The waitstaff worked together to make the dining experience a pleasant one. The piano player gave the perfect ambiance for a date night. If you're in the area I highly recommend you stop in and dine.

The second half of our porter house steak with garlic mashed and green beans.

Great atmosphere with piano music playing in the background. Huge portion sizes. Had courtesy valet parking which was perfect as the location makes for difficult parking otherwise. We shared a porterhouse and had leftovers. The servers were very attentive to our water glasses and we didn't feel rushed during our meal.

I am a sucker for mom and pop shops. First walking in was greeted at the front door. Then again checking in writ the host. I did not have a reservation and was able to be seated immediately on the enclosed outdoor patio overlooking the start of downtown Arkansas. Lighters are dimmed with a nice white drape over each table scarlet curtains. I would say affordable fancy. Music a bit strange. Live piano playing however they are playing modern music over the speakers kinda confusing. Maybe just a slight oversight for the moment. staff was friendly, I did feel a bit rushed to order. Food taste fresh well seasoned. I very much enjoy a good Ribeye and this did not disappoint with an eye opening 18 oz bone out or 25 oz bone in you can't go wrong. The place could use a bit of TLC but it's not a resort steak house again it is a mom and pop shop and I'm very much onboard with supporting your communities small businesses.

Starting with a relaxer followed by a blue cheese wedge ribeye, bread, stuffed baked potato and green beans. Delish. Hope to go again.

This was a lovely experience, and I'll start with the two reasons this place doesn't get a 5-star…read morereview. When I made the reservation for 3 I specifically asked that we "not be seated next to a kitchen or bathroom," and we were seated right next to both. There was an endless stream of people/bodies throughout the entire meal, and it was disappointing to make a simple request that could not be filled. Secondly, I ordered the Chilean sea bass and was underwhelmed by the dish. The fish felt slightly overcooked, so I only ate a bite and focused on my sides. Those two things aside, this was actually a nice experience. Our server, Haita (an attractive young man from Morocco with piercing blue eyes and a delightful accent) made up for the seating disappointment with excellent service. He was attentive, brought and presented food in a timely manner, and was knowledgeable about the menu. Speaking of the menu...we'd gone here specifically for lamb chops because someone in my party had been craving them. Imagine our surprise when we arrived and lamb chops were not on the curated, Valentine's menu (we dined on the 15th). We considered leaving to find lamb chops elsewhere, but we ultimately stayed and the person in my party ordered a ribeye instead. GREAT choice. It was a beautiful cut of meat, cooked to medium-well perfection, and perfectly spiced. There's always a chance that when a place doesn't put salt/pepper on the table that they've wildly overestimated their abilities to cater to the general palate. Not so here. It was a treat to discover that everything that came to the table was perfectly spiced. The ribeye had a perfect char on it, the juices were succulent, and the meat was fantastically tender. According to one of my guests, it was "divine." She also used the same word to describe the shrimp and lobster bisque, but I disagreed. In all honesty, the best thing about this dish was the presentation (I made a little video, so you'll see what I mean!). This just felt like a regular lobster bisque with a piece of shrimp tossed in (on a crostini) to "fancy it up." I wasn't too impressed, but the other at the table seemed to enjoy it. The decor is lovely: old-world steakhouse vibes with dark wood paneling, bold artwork on the walls that speaks to the state's leisure culture, and a beautiful bar area. The decor alone can rival that of any steakhouse in a major metropolitan city on the East or West coast. From the truncated menu we ordered the ribeye, the Chilean sea bass (with green beans), mashed potatoes, asparagus, and copious drinks. Make sure you order your asparagus grilled, you won't be disappointed. Perfect seasoning and perfect texture, truly. The lemon drop cocktail is a winner for anyone who likes a sweet beverage. I've never known Maker's Mark to disappoint, and you can't mess up a Gin & Tonic. But throw in some fancy beveled glasses, and heavy encrusted tumblers, and you've got yourself a drinking experience. I love visiting the bathrooms in places like this to see if the overall aesthetic tracks to all of the guest spaces, and unfortunately here it did not. It's just an okay bathroom that feels like a bit of an afterthought, but I get it. It's a bathroom. I just couldn't help but expect someone close to grand (grand-ish) given what the front of the house looked like. One thing I did see which I cannot end my review without mentioning is the attention to detail the servers placed on the small things. It did not take more than 2 minutes for a dirty table to be cleaned and completely re-set. The bussers move quickly! The waitstaff moves with purpose and incorporates the tiny details into their regular routine. Thanks to the unglamorous seating nearly the kitchen/bathroom I had a chance to see how the waitstaff handled plates/cutlery/etc. The wine glass cabinet was to our right, and I was impressed to see EACH AND EVERY SERVER who pulled a glass take the time to hold the glass up to the light to check for smudges before using them with the guest. Glasses that weren't clean weren't just wiped and used, they were put away with the dirty dishes and staff pulled another glass. It was impressive to see this was clearly a part of their training to which the waitstaff adhered. Finally. There's serious sticker shock with this place, but that's going to happen if you go to a decent steakhouse. This was better than decent, my friends. If I had it all to do over again, I'd get a steak from a steakhouse and stop trying to chase the Nobu-inspired Chilean sea bass high I got hooked on a few years back in Vegas. I was in a kingdom of red meat and got the fish. Girl, bye.

Everyone was warm, attentive, and really made the whole evening feel special. We went all out with the appetizers: Oysters on the Half Shell: mignonette sauce, cocktail sauce, horseradish (MP) Wagyu Beef Carpaccio: mustard horseradish , parmesan shavings, fried capers (19) Ahi Tuna Tartare: avocado, pico, soy-lime ginger (19) All three were fantastic, but the wagyu carpaccio was probably my favorite: thin, melt-in-your-mouth beef with that sharp bite from the mustard horseradish and crispy capers. The oysters were fresh and briny, and the tuna tartare was super refreshing. For the main: CERTIFIED JAPANESE KOBE: The Ultimate Beef Experience (upon availability ~ by the ounce, market price). I went with the 5oz cut, and this might be the best beef I've ever tasted. Literally like butter. Every bite melted instantly: rich, fatty, and flavorful without being overwhelming. Added a lobster tail (Surf & Turf, add one Lobster tail to any steak or chop, market price), which was perfectly cooked, sweet, and paired nicely with the richness of the kobe. Sides to share: Asparagus: grilled (14) Arthur's Mac-n-cheese (12) Creamed Corn (11) The grilled asparagus was fresh with a good char, the mac was creamy with a crispy topping, and the creamed corn added that nice touch of sweetness to balance the richness of everything else. We finished it off with the Dubai Chocolate for dessert. One of the best desserts I've had to date. Decadent, rich, with the perfect balance of chocolate and sweetness to end the meal on a high note. Easily one of the best steakhouse meals I've ever had.

Even with having two servers, I still feel like the service could have been a little quicker at times. The calamari had a nice little kick to it, the caviar deviled eggs were just okay in my opinion, but the cheesesteak eggrolls absolutely stole the show and were probably my favorite thing we ordered. For dinner, I got the filet mignon. It was good, but as far as steaks go, it probably wouldn't make my personal top 10. The lobster mac & cheese, however, was really creamy and flavorful, and I enjoyed that a lot. Our waiter recommended the Father's Day special, which included a Dry-Aged Tomahawk Ribeye, two lobster tails, and two sides: the lobster three-cheese mac and cheese and the lobster garlic mashed potatoes. When the food was first brought to the table, everything appeared acceptable. However, upon closer inspection and after tasting the dishes, it became clear that there were significant quality issues. The lobster three-cheese mac and cheese was extremely dry and appeared overcooked. The lobster garlic mashed potatoes looked and tasted as though they had been sitting for an extended period of time and were noticeably burnt. The Dry-Aged Tomahawk Ribeye was severely overcooked on the outside and excessively salty. Even the butter served with the bread had what seemed to be an unnecessary amount of salt and pepper sprinkled on top, making it unpleasantly salty. The lobster tails were also disappointing. The shells were dry and appeared as though they had been under a heat lamp for too long. While the lobster meat itself was edible, it was the only part of the meal we were able to eat, along with some bread. We chose not to bring these issues to the attention of the restaurant while dining because we prefer to avoid drawing attention to ourselves. That said, we believe these problems should have been identified before the food ever left the kitchen. The restaurant's quality control and expediting process should have caught these issues. What made the experience even more frustrating was seeing other meals being served to nearby tables that looked well-prepared and appetizing. We left our waiter a good tip because we do not believe he was responsible for the condition of the food. He was pleasant and simply recommended the special that the restaurant was promoting. Needless to say, what was intended to be a special Father's Day celebration turned into a very disappointing dining experience. We will not be returning anytime soon. Photos of the meal are available if needed.
