The crust was light and had a nice crunch! Service was amazing! We came in at 7:15pm and they closed at 8pm. They didn't even bat an eye and waited on us as if they had just opened! Never felt rushed! The entire restaurant was super clean and has a casual dining feel!! If we are ever in town again I would definitely eat here again!! read more

I can only comment on the pepperoni slice to go that I ate hastily in my car. It was hot, and had a nice thin crust. A bit limp in the middle, but really perfect at the crust edge. Not too thick, crisp/chewy in the best sort of way. I will definitely return to try some other items from the menu. read more

This is the closest restaurant to our new home and yet it took us over 6 months to try it! Being from NYC, I miss good pizza, which every transplant knows is very difficult to find in FL. I was skeptical about trying here but we wasted time and money on so many mediocre and bland places in town so we had to at least give it a try. Since we tried it, we have been visiting 1-3 times a week! I even dined here alone when hubs was traveling out of town. The parking lot is tight but there are plenty of spots. Be expected to park by the next row of stores because this place can get really busy. There is enough seating for at least 60 people to dine in. I think the longest we have ever waited for a table was 5 minutes. The menu is also not extensive but you have plenty of options. There are specials for pizza and pasta Monday-Thursdays. Speaking of, they are only open Monday-Friday and close at 8pm except on Friday night, which is 9pm. I wish they were open on Saturdays or until 9pm all days because I am always rushing to get here since I work most days until 6-6:30pm. We always see patrons walking in after 7pm to dine in so they would definitely keep busy. We usually go on Wednesdays for $2 off medium pizzas and $15 bottles of wine. Usually we order a bottle and a medium pizza each, which is 12" in size. I always order plain or cheese and hubs orders pepperoni or meat lovers. Since I am extremely adverse to ham, we sub onions for the ham in the meat lovers. Our orders are always right. There was only once there was ham so I just didn't have any, no biggie. Beer, soda, and tea is also served. You can also get takeout or order through delivery apps. The prices are decent. Not cheap but not super expensive. The pizza is so good and in my opinion, a very close comparison to NYC pizza. The pasta is really good, especially the Alfredo. OMG it's the most on point Alfredo I have had in a long time. The owners are always there and always greeting customers. It reminds me of restaurants I grew up dining in back in NYC. I miss the hospitality and you can definitely get that full here. Unfortunately our favorite server recently left but the other servers are usually on point. You will not be disappointed or hungry after dining here. If you are looking for a neighborhood Italian restaurant with a family feel, Formaggio's is the place. Came in at the peak of the dinner rush and the place was crowded but didn't have to wait to long to get seats. Drink orders were taken before we even sat down and garlic knots came soon after. Chef Michael is the one that delivered the goods with a smile on his face and he knew a lot of the clientele by name. My wife had the white pizza with chicken. It was good, but it could have been a little crispier to her liking, but not bad. I had the stuffed shells and meatball combo. It was very good. This is a restaurant that likes to bake all of its pasta dishes, so just know that going in. A friendly place to be sure! read more

I don't give out 5 star reviews for pizza in Florida because I'm from New Haven, CT and nothing comes close, but I'm going to make an exception for Formaggios. I had a caprese salad app that was excellent. The balance of tomato and mozz was spot on. My husband had the antipasto which we all shared. The portion size was generous. I would have liked to seen some mozzarella balls and banana peppers (just my suggestion to the kitchen.) We all got pizza and we ordered them well done because we are used to that charred crust and they all tasted excellent. They weren't hand tossed but it didn't take away from the quality. Picked up two pizza's. A meat lovers and a pepperoni with bell pepper. Both pies did not disappoint. Thin crust NY style pizza with plenty of flavor and slices big enough to fold. i walked in and ordered the pies. The order took about 20 minutes. Not bad at all for pizzas of this quality. Its not your average pizza joint as the location is a dine in Italian restaurant, however they are well equipped to handle take out. We were looking to get our pizza fix on last night and our go to place was closed or too busy to answer the phone. So we looked for another local place and came across Formaggios. Called em up, they answered right away and got the order. Ive heard good things about Formaggios and found out they were voted best pizza in ocala and best new Italian restaurant! The place looked very clean and cozy and the staff was very warm and inviting. To say i was pleasantly surprised when the pizza came out is an understatement... the pepperoni are huge and they were not stingy with them at all! In my opinion the pizza is a work of art. I would frame it and put on the wall. Closed to most other pizza shops in ocala I'd say Formaggios is head and shoulders above the rest. My wife really isn't big on pizza or Italian food and she was raving about the pizza. It looked great! Tasted great! And was reasonably priced. We both agree that we are going back to dine in for some Italian dishes next week. If you're looking for delicious New York style pizza you have to check this place. We stopped here for a small meal before catching a show at the nearby Reilly Arts Center. We thought it was a new restaurant because it said "Now Open" in huge letters on a window, but I see on Facebook they have just moved to a new location within the same plaza. I had a personal pizza and added pepperoni and meatball - the latter because I had been tempted to get spaghetti and wanted to try some of their meatball. That didn't work because the meatball as a topping was sliced as thin as pepperoni rather than chunks. I have never seen that before and won't order it as a topping again. The pizza was delicious, the crust soft and thin. My wife ordered the eggplant rollatini as an appetizer as she didn't want the extra carbs. Being an appetizer, her order came out much sooner than mine, which was a little awkward as I am also the slower eater. She also liked her choice. The server was friendly and, at least until the check was due, quite attentive. If we go back to that venue in Ocala for another show, maybe I will get to try their real meatballs! read more

This small place is a gem worth finding. Start with the garlic knots that come with minced garlic so fresh it practically screams with flavor. We split a personal meaty pizza and pasta bolognese. While the pizza was good and had plentiful toppings, the bolognese stole the show. The sauce was light and flavorful. Service for lunch was spot on. Formaggio's has the feeling of a good neighborhood restaurant that knows and cares about their customers. The setting reminded me of all the family owned and run restaurants I have visited. We were greeted as old friends even though it was our first visit. Our server was friendly and attentive to our needs. Our group ordered two 12" pizzas and a Chicken Parmigiana and they all came out at the same time hot and delicious. The price was very fair for the fabulous quality of the food. We love pizza! We eat pizza at least once a week. Based on the reviews we thought we would try this. It's an hour round trip from our house so it was an intentional trip to try them out in Ocala. It was a Friday night around 5 PM We got seated right away. The hostess was very pleasant. And the waitress greeted us and took her drinks within minutes of our arrival. We ordered the vegetarian pizza on cauliflower crust. We asked for it to be extra crispy. It definitely had lots of veggies sitting on top of the crust. Nothing was hot. Hardly any cheese. But my biggest complaint is how bland it was. Literally there were no seasonings whatsoever. It was by far the blandest pizza I've ever eaten. I don't like to cook, but when I do cook I season everything with garlic, oregano and more. This reminds me I just need to stay hone and cook read more

We didn't notice until we made it back to our camper we were charged for a large (for 2) anti pasta salad when we ordered a small and received a small salad. It was exceptional anyway. Each of us ordered the 2 slice lunch special. It was so good. Nice big slices, good amount of cheese. My husband had pepperoni on top and they are very large rounds.
