    French Dip

If you are a fan of whiskey, this is your spot. Lots of options. If you aren't a fan of whiskey, you should still come to this spot. Great selection of whiskey, cocktails, food, DJ, plenty of seating- inside and outside, and back outdoor seating that's pet friendly. You can order at the bar but some tables have a QR code to simply order at your table and they will bring everything out to you. Make sure you have your id ready. Burgers are a great option but that French Dip Is amazing!! Loaded with meat, SOFT BREAD, side of horseradish. and dipping in tasty au jus... perfect!! They have some fry options like seasoned, garlic parm, and spicy. The spicy fries have a great kick! And PLUS they are beef tallow fries. There's plenty of parking as well- street or lot. Great place for a date, happy hour, birthdays, and meeting up with friends!

Forman's is SO WONDERFUL! What great service. A great bartender. And besides their roasted artichoke, the very BEST thing EVER: Forman's bacon vinaigrette Parmesan Brussels sprouts and dirty martinis! I am LICKING the paper.

Another fantastic burger!! Perfectly cooked! The perfect proportions of burger, cheese, tomato and sauce! A favorite!!! Wish the ordering process was a little more organized though at the bar.

I am a Forman's regular. I absolutely love coming to Forman's on a Sunday night and wrapping up the weekend here. If you need something to chase away your Sunday night blues, you've got to get down to Toluca Lake and come to Forman's. This is an upper crust, high-end whiskey tavern with excellent food and sumptuous alcohol and a beautiful beer garden. There is really no place like it. I just sat outside on a beautiful Sunday evening in the balmy weather, with a cocoa and coffee infused old-fashioned with a fig in my hand, watching the game and savoring a fried chicken salad with chunks of avocado and sliced red grapes in a buttermilk ranch dressing. I had generous bites of my husband's Hickory burger and seasoned fries. Service is friendly and the setting is relaxed and comfortable. You won't find more creative whiskey cocktails anywhere. Food is outstanding. It is elevated far beyond your usual bar. Some of my favorites include the following: - Ahi tuna salad - rosemary nuts - turkey club - fried chicken salad - Louisiana wings Other entrées include the beet salad, the grilled cheese sandwich, and the fish tacos, not to mention other burgers and sandwiches and salads and starters. Dog friendly, we love to bring our pug to Forman's! He always quite welcome! Forman's offers dog dishes and dog treats. Come beat the Sunday night blues. Eat, drink, watch sports, and enjoy life.

The spinach dip was delish. I also got a burger and it was also pretty good. The service could have been WAY better. Why do I have to wait in the bar line in order to order food?? It doesn't make sense. I came for the food and still had to wait at the crowded bar in order to place an order. And then I had to wait at my table. I would have appreciated if someone took my order at my table, or before I even sat down. It was kinda a waste of time. It was decent looking inside, but the outside was super cute. I don't think I would come again though.

Came here for a work happy hour and it was a great vibe! The drinks were super fun and unique. I got a spritz which was delish. But they had so many cool drinks For food we got a bunch of different things like the charcuterie, chicken wings, chicken sandwiches, pretzel which were pretty good for bar food! We sat in a private area on the patio which was really nice and then they played music later into the night. Seems like a poppin spot

Loved this place! Atmosphere is cozy yet loud (which I like). It got pretty busy in here but my friends and I had a great time drinking and playing out card games. Nut mix was delicious, had a sort of spice to it which I really liked. Elder tree is my favorite drink to get here now.

Forman's continues to be our "go-to" place to unwind, celebrate, and catch up with friends! The bartenders make the most amazing, quality drinks and the food is so delicious!

Espresso martini Dirty martini Pineapple mezcal margarita Soooo good

I will say I love this place. The drinks and food are really yummy for bar food. The outside space really has a great vibe for hanging out with friends for a few hours. Although I did go on a Monday with a large group and can say the service was ok. Normally it's fine. We all kind of felt like a bother, I asked for extra cream in my espresso martini because that's my favorite part and the reason I go.. and the women was kinda mean about it and said "she'll put whatever fits in the cup" Cups are pretty tiny & prices are up there. Still love this place though, will come back.

Drinks only! It's always great to stop into this bar! The drinks are always solid! I have never had a drink that I did not like at this place! Beyond drinks they serve a full menu! Unfortunately I've never eaten here but the food looks just as solid as the drinks! On Monday through Friday they have happy hour. Happy hour is from 2-6 where there select cocktails, wine beer and food items on the menu. Drinks are 6-9 dollars. The bar can get busy at this time. They do also have a patio area out back. Plus a small patio area out front for people watch. I prefer to sit at the bar to watch the action. They also have some couches inside that are perfect for groups. Street parking only. Can get busy so be patient in finding a spot! Cheers!

This place never disappoints. I love the vibe, their food, and the service. I will definitely be back! Specially while waiting for my turn for the neighbor sushi place..

What a gem! This spot has such a cool vibe, cozy seating and decor inside and a huge beer garden outside! The perfect place to grab a drink with friends or a for chill night out with good vibes. Service is good and the bartenders are great, special shoutout to Louie for the killer Mai Tai. Food is also good, kitchen closes at 10PM. Definitely now a go-to spot on my list!

Charcuterie plate and a glass of whiskey

Whiskey bar located in Toluca Lake with a very impressive selection of whiskey (my favorite). They have cocktails, beer, and bites as well, but of the times I've been here, I've mostly gone to get pours of the different whiskeys they usually have on hand here at more than reasonable prices. The decor has kind of an equestrian stable theme (I think) The folks here have always been really friendly and fair in terms of serving you in the order you come up to the counter. I've been here later in the evening a couple of times, but it gets a lot more busy/crowded as it gets later. The vibe in the early evening and during the day on the weekend is chill usually. Great happy hour deals and bites. I got the charcuterie board here and it was nice. I've had some of the other small bites as well and all have been solid to great. Okay, if you read this far: I would say this is my favorite place in all of LA to drink whiskey. Part of me wants to gatekeep, but they deserve all the business they get. Not only do they have an excellent selection, but they consistently get some rare gems that are not necessarily white whale status, so the prices are still in the mid teens to low twenties for some really quality pours. They do have higher end rare bottles, but of course you're going to pay up for that. The fact that these ultra rare bottles are there is another bonus if you have the funds and you want to partake. Parking seems to be fairly easy in the area, especially if you're willing to walk two to three blocks.

Forman's Whiskey Tavern Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Forman's Whiskey Tavern

We're beer snobs, anyone know how to find out what beer is on draft? There website lists nothing, no one answers the phone.

I get ya, I love beer and find this place does a pretty good job with beer selections, even though they are a whiskey Tavern. They've got some real nice selections and rotating drafts available, I would suggest just keep calling until you get…

    Do they have whiskey flights?

I have never seen one ordered nor do I remember seeing one on the menu. Great bartenders though so maybe you can request one!

    Do they have WiFi?

    Yes they do.

    What night is karaoke?

    There is no karaoke :(

Does this place have outdoor seating?

Few tables out front and patio in the back

    Are kids allowed here?

No. I brought my kid and they ate him. Awful sight. Wife is in therapy. We will never be the same. Good wings though!

Any lightweight drinks , my friend turned 21 and just curious which drinks are best?

I mean, light weight drinks tend to be non hard liquor drinks so avoid anything with vodka, whiskey and tequila in it. Light beers would be the best but if u want a mixed drink some good ones are coke and rum, easy on the rum, mai tais, easy on the…

Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 3-6pm. The menu includes discounts on limited beer selections, wine, cocktails that rotate and food. Food examples include Fried Chicken Sliders, Louisiana Smoked Wings and a Meat & Cheese Board (all a bit…

    Is this place dog friendly?

Inside, no. Outside, YES! They have a great patio out front, doggie watering bowl included! My son takes his lab there to grab a beer probably once a week. I've seen many dogs out front in the past!

The people who work here: all kind and helpful and on top of their stuff. This place gets really packed sometimes but even in the chaos, when customers are rude and drunk and break things they keep their cool, always. But don't treat them poorly. I will come for you. Chard is the GM and he is one of the kindest and most generous humans I have had the pleasure of know and is the mastermind behind getting the themed nights up and going. His ability to make a person feel welcome is pretty much unmatched in my opinion. The food: omg you guys the FOOD!!!! It's so good. They just changed the menu so I haven't gotten to try everything yet but the chicken dumplings are delicious. A bit of a kick but the best kind. The chili cheese fries that my friend had were also so good. Perfect cheese to chili ratio with the fries. There is a chef in the back who is passionate about food and making sure it tastes perfect so I trust everything is good. But if you are unsure ask the servers or bartenders. They won't steer you wrong. The drinks: admittedly, I mostly drink just screwball on the rocks. However every mixed cocktail I have had here has been perfection. Mark is the manager and he could be a mixologist, should be a mixologist, super nice guy who is shockingly good and remembering peoples drink preferences. Like a year ago was the last time I ordered cider and he remembered! The vibe: I wouldn't really call this place a dive bar, but it's sort of got a hint of dive bar going on. The back patio is really nice during the summer but sitting inside the barrel is fun too. The bulldog is kinda small so you won't fit a ton of people in there but it's still fun. Lots of places to sit although sometimes it does get packed and it's standing room only. Not to mention, they allow dogs!!! This is a great place to come with a first date. It's good for dressing up a little but not too much and there are some corners you can sit in so you can have a little closeness. But the staff will also keep an eye out for you. If you are feeling uncomfortable in any way, they will keep an eye out for you and help you out. There isn't a designated dance floor but they won't be mad if you dance in the area that you've got available to you. Just don't accidentally knock anything over or hit anybody. The music: Chard is usually in charge of the play list but even when he isn't the music is usually pretty great and there's a band that comes and plays on Sundays for a while in the afternoon/evening. I have found some of my new favorite music because of this place. Drag brunch: I've never actually attended because I've heard it gets a little crazy and that can be a little scary overwhelming for me, but they do it everyday Saturday and Sunday and that's been going strong for a pretty long time so I have to assume it's a good time. The themed events: this is the kind of crazy I can handle though. They have done lots of the rings, zelda anniversary, a Star Wars themed singles event for Valentine's Day, a scholastic book fair, and Easter egg hunt, their Halloween and New Year's Eve events were AMAZING, I could go on and on. People turn up for these events and they are just some of the most fun especially with the costumes you will see. Go to Idle Hour. I've never loved a bar before. This place is something else. I promise you won't be disappointed, unless you're one of those kinds of people who finds something wrong no matter how amazing the place is or you're kind of an entitled jerk.

My son didn't make a reservation because it was a Wednesday night and he didn't think it would be crowded. We soon got a good spot and ordered the shrimp ceviche and the pan fried dumplings for appetizers. The ceviche was served on a bed of crispy noodles and it was refreshing and satisfying. The dumplings were crispy, not greasy, and flavorful. For dinner, we got 2 orders of japchae and 3 orders of bibimbap. With 2 Korean-born children and having visited the country, those are among our family's favorite dishes. And they did not disappoint. The japchae noodles were just right. They were not too firm and not too soft and well-seasoned. With a mixture of veggies, meat, mushrooms, eggs, and that delectable sauce, the bibimbap tickled and satiated the tastebuds. I told the server there was a birthday at the table and she brought out an excellent creme brulee with a candle in it. My husband and I didn't pay the bill. But the prices were reasonable with most of the entrees costing less than $20 each. We have four more days in town and may very well make another visit to indulge in that scrumptious food.
