I do a wine bar once a month with a friend. He wanted to try this place. It just happened to be the night before my birthday. The moment they opened the doors, Jeff and Nick made us feel so welcomed! Lots of great wine selections, and the cheese and food were so fresh and different! They can program the player piano to play what you want if it's available. Great experience and a nice chill place! I'll definitely go back!!

Upon walking up to Wax Poetic, I noticed it was small, dark, and there were two other people in there. THIS IS MY VIBE. I was so excited to check this place out because I am always on a mission to explore every single wine bar in the SFV. Love the aesthetic of this place. Art deco and other vintage touches give it a really unique feel. I love that they project old movies on the wall. They also have a self playing piano. So fun! We sat down at a table that was pushed together with another one to make a four top. Since there was no one else around us, we separated the tables to have a little more room. The first thing the employee said to us was some sort of comment about how the table was for four people and that they don't separate them. There was no one else there so we kind of laughed it off, but it was definitely a funny first impression that didn't feel entirely welcoming at first. The employee ended up warming up to us and was very helpful in recommending and describing wines. I had a lovely Malbec and a Cab from Napa. Their Chef was out sick so unfortunately I didn't get the chance to try and of the nibbles. They did have the ice cream available which we tried and it was simple, but nice. I definitely look forward to coming back and coming with more friends. What a cool neighborhood spot. They have a nice deal where you get a discount if you purchase bottles to go. Could be a great date night spot too!

We, being a party of 4, popped in to this quaint spot on Magnolia. We walked in and were greeted by the staff and they were great. A couple of us are wine drinkers but another couple are beer drinkers and they're was a good selection of both wine and beer. We tried a lot of the foods. Small menu. All that we tried was absolutely delicious! Beef carpaccio and sea bream were very tasty. We ordered a couple more orders of the sea bream we loved it so much! Mini baguettes with goat cheese, garlic confit, patè and also butter. Then on to dessert. Spiked root beer float! Yummmyy!!! Affogato was so good! Anyway, we will be back! Loved it!

    Affogato... It's a must!

Wow! I can't recommend Wax Poetic enough!! What a fantastic addition to the Magnolia Park area in Burbank. The owners Carrie and Eric are so personable and have created such a thoughtful and beautiful space to enjoy wine & delicious bites. The menu is small and meaningful. They have a fun collaboration with Vampire Wines, complete with a feature of a wine bottle in a Vampire cloak - so cute! I did try the cab sauv from Vampire Wines and really enjoyed it. The bartender/somme also recommended the vampire wines rose prosecco - I'll definitely need to try it next time. I also think it's so clever that they offer wines on tap. I tried the Pinot Noir from Argyle (Willamette Valley). I'm a big fan of Pinot noirs and I thought this wine hit the spot of being an enjoyable & palatable wine to start the evening. The wines on tap come in 5oz, 8 oz, and 17oz portions. A couple sips into my 8oz pour I realized I needed to supplement my wine with some food. We ordered a baguette with pate & sour cherry glaze, the beef carpaccio, and the stone fruits with burrata & jamon Serrano. I was a little worried that there would be too much food but it was actually perfect! We got to speak with the chef briefly and he intentionally designed the menu to be filling yet light and also cold. It was truly perfect, especially paired with wine. The baguette comes out a perfect temperature balanced between warm & hot while still being soft and tearable. The pate with sour cherries was amazing with the bread. The highlight of the meal was the beef carpaccio. The brightness of the lemon with olive oil was fantastic. It was everyone's favorite part of the order. Lastly, the stone fruit with burrata and jamon came in a close second favorite. I loved how light & refreshing it was while also being super filling & tasty. As far as ambience, Wax Poetic is definitely a 10/10. From the color of the walls, to the stools, to the light fixtures, and the live piano - wow! Truly beautifully designed. I loved the art deco inspiration and was obsessed with their light fixtures. This would be a romantic date night spot. The staff was also top notch. We came during the grand opening and it was definitely a bit busy. The bartender/somme made fantastic recommendations and was super friendly & kind. I do appreciate that the totals include 20% for staff so tipping is not required over that. There is also a rewards club you can sign up for! Overall, Wax Poetic is a must try! I will be visiting again.

I ordered at the bar like always, and the bartender took my order and then walked towards the kitchen. Now I know they usually give you your drink right then and there, but they were busy and I assumed he was going to take care of something else first, which is completely fine! What I didn't expect was this other bartender, who was on the complete other side of the bar and didn't communicate me with at all, was actually filling my drink. I didn't realize that, because he didn't tell me, so I turned to walk back to my table. This rude bartender thought I was abandoning my drink or something, and used his big boy voice to yell "YOUR DRINK!" so loudly that everyone at the bar stopped to stare at me, and some were laughing. Now I didn't know that intentionally embarrassing your patrons is how you guys do business, but ok, whatever makes you feel important I guess... The original bartender who took my order came by and checked and on our table later in the night, and he asked us something that neither my friend or I could hear, so I said "I'm sorry, what?" and he rolled his eyes and walked away. Alternatively, a few months ago, my husband and his friend came here and they received the complete opposite treatment - free drinks, conversations with the bartenders, and were welcomed. I never come into a restaurant/bar, especially a small business, expecting anything for free, that isn't my point at all. I do however expect basic manners and respect. Based on our very different experiences recently, there does seem to be a hint of misogyny going on here. This place used to be cool and friendly, and food has always been great, but the men who work here completely ruin it. It's really disappointing.
