I love this little place. It's a cozy little spot offering tropical cocktails, small bites and spinning the best tunes. You never know what you'll hear when you walk in but it'll be something good. There is searing along the bar, small booths along the side wall and larger booths and tables in the back. Service is always great. I like to stop in and have the shumai, fries and either a responsible drink or an irresponsible drink in a bucket. The bucket drinks are fun but quite sweet and some come with gummy candies like sharks. Parking is a nightmare but I usually get lucky. Come and stay a while though, it's a good time. read more

I stopped by here after dinner. As it was still happy hours for another 20 minutes, it was great. My first time here which it's located in the art district just along Magnolia Blvd. It's metered street parking but you could get lucky and find residential parking nearby. As it was rainy, which is rare to say about LA. But it's been a miracle with all that we had. Anyway, they do have a patio area outside in front but it wasn't utilized with the rain. Inside it's a cool vibe. A nice bar that also offered food. We made it before happy hour ended so it was great for a drink. Not only drinks specials, there was also small bites food specials. There's also a regular menu with food as well as the regular cocktails. It's a full bar so whatever you like I'm sure it could be prepared. Felicia took care of us when we arrived. Very sweet and so friendly. Nice to walk into a place where your chatting with someone versus just sitting down and that's that. Some people prefer that but I like to mingle. It's a bar but could also double as a sports bar. Loads of seating along the big stretch of bar as well booths seats along the wall and more seating towards the back. There's also a stage that host different events nightly. We noticed an open mic night, trivial night and so on. There was a screen along the bar area that was displaying all the different events happening. It's a cool spot that we walked into. Even though I've walked past by it loads of time. A cool place with a nice happy hour menu. Drinks were great. Oh, we had both the margaritas with a salt rim and tajin rim. Both was great and happy hour price of 10.00. CanTiki is one of those places I've had in my back pocket for a number of years and went back and forth on visiting just based off the photos and reviews I've seen online. I finally checked it out and found it to be an odd mashup of clashing themes. It's called "The CanTiki" which implies it's a tiki-focused/themed bar, but the decor and ambiance were far from tiki-esque. The bar itself is really divey and doesn't have much (or really any) actual tiki themed decor. The cocktail menu is decent for a divey tiki bar, but the cocktails felt a bit out of wack. The service was alright, but not the best. Against my better judgement I asked if they offer swizzle sticks to which the bartender gave me a dirty look and very rudely snapped back with a "no". The saving grace for CanTiki is their cocktail program is fine for a dive bar, but I wouldn't bother stopping by if you're looking for an actual tiki experience. read more

The CanTiki is a great NoHo spot for fun drinks and vibes! I recently came to the CanTiki for their Sippin' Santa Holiday themed set-up, and had a total blast! The themed drinks were really creative, fun, and I loved the different mugs that come for each cocktail. We tried a few rounds of drinks - my favorites were the Hot Buttered Grog for a warm drink, and the Holiday on Ice for a cold drink! The Hot Buttered Grog was soothing and felt great to sip, while also having a good kick and strength from the liquor! The Holiday on Ice, on the other hand, gave satisfying chills and was similarly strong! I also really appreciated the care that the bartender took into preparing each individual drink, taking a few minutes...but it was well worth the wait! I also loved the variety of seating available - from bar seating, high tops, booths, and tables. This is in regards to my visit on Monday 5/4. I got there at 2:45 PM. The door was cracked open and we went inside but there was nobody there. We then checked their hours online and saw that they didn't open till 3 PM. I've been wanting to try this place for a while so I was willing to wait until they opened. We waited outside and then at 2:57 PM we went in again and again it was empty. Finally we see a woman and we ask her if they're open. She tells us that she's running late and she's gonna need at least 10 more minutes. It looked like she was gonna need a lot more time than that because their chairs weren't even out on the patio and the lights were still dim inside. We had already waited long enough so we left and headed over to Granville and had a great time there. It was very disappointing to not be able to try this place. If a business opens at a certain time, they need to be open and ready before that time. I've worked at various businesses where as an employee I've had to get there 30 minutes to an hour early so that at opening time we are ready for business. Very unprofessional of CanTiki and they will continue to lose business if they continue to operate this way. read more

But what separates this from the others is the owner and operator, Amanda, is such a lovely person and seasoned mixologist expert. The vibe isn't overly Tiki in decor which I think is a really smart choice. The drinks are exceptional. It appeals to both tiki folks and the general clientele. This place has amazing drinks! I've tried several of their drinks and can honestly say I've liked each one! They also have a food menu so we got shumai dumplings which come with soy sauce on the side and were good. I also ordered their wings which were good too. For a bar, the food was good. CanTiki NoHo opened last summer and quickly became a neighbourhood favourite - we've been many times, and even on a rainy weeknight, the place is steadily busy. We've tried many of the drinks - we haven't been disappointed. My favourite is the rum-based Tiger Punch, which comes with "mango pearls" - juicy boba - and an extra-wide straw to hoover them up. All the tiki cocktails are complex, strong, well-balanced drinks that are all delicious and enjoyable, but are pretty similar and kind of muddle together in one's memory. It's like the bar version of the "Saw" franchise. Two that are easy to recall and reorder due to fun accoutrements are the aforementioned Tiger Punch, with the boba, and the L.A. River Water, which comes with Swedish fish. We appreciate the 7-days-a-week happy hour, and we usually make our drinks a "bucket" - doubled, served in a little beach pail. Their food menu is limited to bao dumplings, and they are tasty as well. Though it doesn't have the razzle-dazzle of the nearby Tiki No (e.g., no flaming drinks), I prefer CanTiki when I want a tropical libation. It's casual enough to pop over in shorts and flip-flops for a quick nip, yet the dark jungly aesthetic - palms-on-black wallpaper, rattan, gold hardware - makes it a nice spot for a date night. read more

2 weeks ago I and a small group of close friends went to CanTiki. We ordered our drinks and they were absolutely delicious as always. This one night in particular was not slay even though the drinks were good. We were rushed to finish our drinks before 1:30. I understand having to do last call it's understandable but our tabs were closed and they rushed and yelled how they were going to close. It wasn't even closing time yet and we chugged our drinks due to the weird atmosphere and on top of them rushing us. They played chipmunk music on blast, we get it you want us to leave but be nicer and professional about it. I hope the owner teaches the bartenders and staff effective service strategies. WOW, this was great. I'm not sure if the bartenders were being nice or if its just how they make their drinks but they were STRONG. I had two drinks and was beyond buzzed. Both of the bar tenders made great drinks and I like that there are both places to sit at the bar and booths/tables if you need a little bit more room, especially when you want a scorpion bowl. This place should be called "Can't Tiki". It is the most unrealized place I've ever walked into, in Los Angeles. Mediocre drinks & the attempt in the bathroom was the only quasi-Tiki anything in this large, wanna dance club. It's April & it still has Christmas decorations up. Half of the room looks like an 80's diner, and the opposite wall looks like it used to be a Chinese food restaurant. Such a weird place. We were searched on the way in. My friend brought me here telling me that had recently renovated and they had cool variations of drinks. I had never been but boy did the place not disappoint!! The bartender was awesome (pictured below) and the drinks were awesome. He let us know that their syrups/mixers for the specialty cocktails are freshly made-loved that! Cute spin on a cantina bar / tiki bar all in one. When you first step up, you have security guard so check your ID. We walked in on a Tuesday night and we're greeted by a very welcoming bartender. There was ample room to sit down, however in the backspace there was speed dating going on which was kind of fun to watch. We asked the bartender for the recommendations and ordered some food and enjoyed the atmosphere. We ordered the lemon pepper wings as well as the Smashburger, which we're both delicious. We're from the Orange County area so we did take a drive to come visit the spot. I definitely would come and check it out however, I'm not sure if I would drive all the way out here again for another drink I would however definitely stop if I'm in the area.
