Karen and Omar and their workers were fun and easy to work with. No stress. The thing our friends tell us when they visit is "It feels like it has always been this way. It feels like a natural extension of the house." Besides the results, several aspects of HOW they work impressed us: First, although this was a fairly complex, multi-month project with a few unexpected wrinkles (thrown in by us), they completed it on time and on budget. The one and only change order was small and was well communicated in advance. We chose to proceed and it was all crystal clear. Second, their workers are top-notch. They were professional, organized, and detail-oriented craftsman. Every single one. Walls are straight and level with deep foundations and proper reinforcement; walkways are level; every detail is perfect, including the underground details that no one is ever going to see. They show up on time, work hard and leave it clean, *safe* and organized at the end of the day, every day, which we appreciated because we have young kids. Third, this is no fly-by-night organization like some in the landscaping world. Karen and Omar have long-term employees who have insurance and benefits, take their breaks etc. They do things right and aren't going to open you up to a lawsuit if someone gets hurt. They listened to our feedback and adapted the plan in ways that made a big difference, working with materials from our house that made the new space feel like it has always been this way. We love our new yard and would recommend them without hesitation.

Our input was integrated into the plans and when we were clueless, Karen offered choices that made the design process easy. The easy communication allowed us to know what to expect in costs and work schedules. Most importantly, our landscape looks so much better. We can't wait to see how the plants will look in the spring. The butterflies and humming birds have already found our garden.

So-Cal Ponds I am writing this review to explain my…read moredissatisfaction with the work performed by So-Cal Ponds in 2023. During the project, large stones were placed on a steep hillside adjacent to my pool without any visible bracing or reinforcement. In 2025, one of those stones rolled down the hillside and into the pool, damaging the pool plaster. To his credit, Dominic, the owner, came to my home to assess the damage. He offered to remove the stone from the pool and relocate the stones on the hillside for a few hundred dollars. However, this did not address my main concern regarding the original installation. In my correspondence, I explained that as a professional landscaper, it is reasonable to expect that proper reinforcement and erosion-prevention measures would be considered when placing large stones on a steep slope. These are foreseeable factors that fall within a professional's expertise at the time of installation. Unfortunately, So-Cal Ponds did not agree to correct the issue at no cost, and I will now have to pay out of pocket to have the stones removed from the hillside and relocated to a safer area. I have sought legal counsel regarding this matter and have been advised that I have a strong small claims court case. So-Cal Pools customer service has been a huge disappointment with their lack of professionalism. They do not stand by their work. Addendum: Please refer to my Google review where Dominic falsely states that he would move the stones on the hillside for FREE.

The project was a complete transformation, and an unused lot filled with bushes and trees is completely unrecognizable, a big green lawn with gorgeous planters and hedges around it. The team -- we worked primarily with Eric and Dom -- communicated well, helped work with our vision while offering their own ideas to maximize the land. Most of all, they were really attentive to details to help protect the house and existing infrastructure. We will happily go back to SoCal Ponds for more work in the future.

We were just recycling things we found around the property and plants that friends gave us. Melanie came to our rescue! She spent the better part of a morning walking around with us, discussing our entertaining habits and desires, and giving us pointers. She remembered the images I'd emailed her from my Pinterest that showed various looks that we liked. We sat down with her as she did the drawing, and she really pointed us in some great directions. Our drawings and plans reflect moving things and planting things to better accommodate the way we like to live and spend our time. She also kept in mind our plan to do most of the work ourselves over time. She brought up cost-effective and water-effective options for accomplishing many of our goals. After our meeting, she followed up with emails of the pictures she had shown us for ideas during the meeting. We did have a little trouble scheduling the meeting, but I always assume that talented people are overwhelmed with business, and that was definitely the case here. However, in the actual meeting and during our phone calls, she never once seemed rushed or impatient. If we need more detailed plans at any point, Melanie will most definitely be the person we turn to! Great overall experience.

She's been patient in understanding our likes & dislikes. Of course, my wife had her ideas, and I had mine. Melanie understood what are our top priorities. After a short wait, she provided us two initial designs. Both were almost perfect match to what we asked for and thinking of. The difficult task for us was to decide which of the basic design to pick and work on to finalize our project. The final design includes a lagoon like pool, and very usable rest of the yard for our family, which includes two kids and two dogs. We are very happy to work with Melanie, and had referred her to several of our friends over the years.

I made the mistake of hiring Environmental mostly because Brad Lefebvre's sons Gabe and Phil are charming and seem sincere. I have to think that unconscious racism on my part also played into my decision--the family is very white and very American, and most other contractors are hispanic, or Israeli, or whatever. Teaches me a lesson. The contract cost ballooned from around $60k to over $100k. Perhaps changes in scope explain some of that, although I have no doubt that was an excuse to hugely inflate the profit margin. But the worst part was the damage they caused to my landscaping, trees, and surroundings, their poor quality repairs, and their lack of any competent supervision or oversight. They just attack the job furiously without any plan of action, and then hope to change and fix it all up later whey it's been screwed up. Not an efficient way to operate. The job took months longer than they promised. After weeks of having their workers here, I learned that their crews dislike and resent the abusive way they are treated by Brad (I speak relatively fluent Spanish), whose main method of communication is screaming and threats. They would leave in a heartbeat if they could find other work, but many are undocumented and don't speak English. The ones that can leave usually do. Abuse, screaming, and threats, including physical violence, are also sadly how Brad's deals with his clients, when his sons can't keep him away from them as they usually try to do. The final straw was when I received a mechanic's lien from the plaster company that Environmental hired. Brad hadn't paid them a penny four months after they finished their work, and so, after my paying Brad over $100,000 I then had to deal with the plasterer who came after me when he was stiffed by Brad. The kids may become good pool contractors years down the road if they learn to properly run crews and supervise work. But in the meantime every decision is the dad's, and believe me, you do not want to sign a contract with this guy. Don't be fooled by all those carefully placed positive "reviews," either. Many are inserted by Brad's kids under false names. I wouldn't touch this company with a 10 foot pole.

Our needs included a complete upgrade which called for a redesign of a large section of the property, a new pool, fabricated rock feature with waterfall as well as a natural looking 10 foot tall hedge to hide a security fence. Of primary importance to me was that Garett was easy to work with. Very relaxed and completely knowledgeable in the various kinds of plants and trees to put in the yard. And he is a great pool designer as well. After we approved his designs, he took out a can of spray paint and personally "hand drew" the curved outline of the future large pool in the yard. He also designed a slide for the children to slide down through the rocks and a nice grotto that a person could swim into - it was like a cave. Oh, he even designed a beautiful stacked rock BBQ area by the pool. In the end, that section of the property was complete transformed and the owners were completely amazed and pleased at the upgrade. One of the most important factors in choosing Garett was that we wanted the yard to look natural. He promised it would and in the end it certainly did. Myself and the owners were very pleased by his work.
