We recently discovered a small leak from a drain pipe in our basement. The PVC was in a…read morehard-to-reach location, so our service technician, Donnie, removed a notable amount of spray-foam to get a better view. Donnie made a phone call and soon four more Brownlee team members were on-site with an expanded selection of equipment. They quickly tracked the issue to a vertical pipe behind a main-floor wall. Apparently, a long-ago installed patch had given way. The crew replaced a 27" section of PVC to fix the leak. I'm optimistic that the root cause was identified and resolved. The service was performed today so we will continue to monitor the main floor vertical pipe and basement location where the leak initially revealed itself. With this issue behind us, I asked the team to perform an integrity check on our old clay sewer line. They added the camera service on free-of-charge and verified that, while old, the sewer pipe appears to be in reasonably good shape. The price was reasonable and the team was respectful to our home. They took the time to explain the problem and solution. We will gladly use Brownlee Plumbing again.

Do not know if my age, bad hearing, gout flare up , making it difficult to work, prompted the above. DETAILS:Estimate/appointment scheduled on a Friday for 8-11 am next Monday for gas hot water heater issue, and perhaps replacement , upon cost /benefit analysis. Job took about 15-20 minutes. $789. judge for yourselves. and being a stock market trader, and holder of options that were diving , I knew I was being hosed about $200-300 but I did cost benefit analysis, better to be hosed , 300, and not being able to unload stock options when diving. If not for the "cutting Pipe" , and "rust from leak" , stories, and had the at least cleaned the rust and applied some oil to slow rusting, and showing some good faith, it may have been ok. Worked for $30/week, 60 hrs,. at age 20, managing, cleaning, cooking at restaurant. No choice, was loyal to family biz, until I got wise and year later, managed another restaurant at $160 week, for 40 hrs, and benefits/previous restaurant closed same year. Being an economist, "the market brings everything to an equlibrium" and the bad ones do not survive. However, some do not care. "take it or leave it" or give estimates based on whether they can get away with such. There is a reason some plumber are booked 2 weeks out and these fellows were available the next day. And reiterate, 3 hr window, and closed on weekends- too much to say more. in message. In retrospect and clearly BUCK STOPS WITH ME. As alluded to above , at the end of the day as they say, the loser will not be me. Other 2 companies I had appointments with state upfront their work guarantee. This company, verbally guaranteed the work but nothing in writing, but invoice does remind one of "mechanics lien I not paid". Perhaps I should have put more weight on the 1 star reviews on yelp, with no response to the more serious allegations. The fish starts smelling from the head.

The team (Jose and Dominick) arrived promptly (actually, they called ahead and asked if it would be okay if they came a little early, which was fine with me). I'll mention here that my water heater is a low-boy located under the eaves through an opening in the wall at the end of my little laundry room. It is not at all easy to work on, and the opening in the wall is barely wider than the water heater so getting the old one out and the new one in was an additional challenge. Nonetheless, Jose and Dominick continued to work steadily for several hours until they successfully completed this difficult job. I also appreciated that they installed a lever-type control for shutting off the water to the water heater if needed (e.g., in an emergency), which is much easier to use than the old-style one on the old water heater. In addition, I had them install a new garbage disposal (the old was literally held together with duct tape), and they did a great job with that as well. Both work areas were left nice and clean. Bottom Line: Although needing a new water heater (and paying for it!) is no fun, I am a happy customer. (With kudos to Jose and Dominick for their excellent work!)
