We recently discovered a small leak from a drain pipe in our basement. The PVC was in a hard-to-reach location, so our service technician, Donnie, removed a notable amount of spray-foam to get a better view. Donnie made a phone call and soon four more Brownlee team members were on-site with an expanded selection of equipment. They quickly tracked the issue to a vertical pipe behind a main-floor wall. Apparently, a long-ago installed patch had given way. The crew replaced a 27" section of PVC to fix the leak. I'm optimistic that the root cause was identified and resolved. The service was performed today so we will continue to monitor the main floor vertical pipe and basement location where the leak initially revealed itself. With this issue behind us, I asked the team to perform an integrity check on our old clay sewer line. They added the camera service on free-of-charge and verified that, while old, the sewer pipe appears to be in reasonably good shape. The price was reasonable and the team was respectful to our home. We had an exterior stairwell drain that would often clog. Other plumbers had cleared it out before, but each time they said they could only get their snake down a very short distance, indicating either a line break or a collapsed trap under the drain. The first quote we got from a different plumber was for an outright obscene amount of money just to run a camera in the line. We contacted Brownlee and scheduled an appointment. Brownlee and his crew arrived on-time and inspected the situation, and he was very up front about the potential issues and, depending on what the problem was, how it could impact both repair and cost. Ultimately, he provided a quote to open up the drain, remove the trap, conduct further investigation (including running a camera in the line) to determine how far into the line the potential break existed, and then fix the problem as long as it wasn't further down the line than the room adjacent to the stairwell. The quote he provided to do all of this work, including repairing the cement floor upon completion, was only barely above the quote the first company had provided just to run the camera! Needless to say, we went with Brownlee, and it all went superbly well. He and his crew were on-time for the repair appointment, quickly found the problem (a collapsed trap under the drain), repaired it, and roughed in new cement for stairwell drain. And now it works! Great price, great service, would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing plumbing work. read more

Service call was professional and corrected the problem. Price point for the service was too high ($325 for less than an hour) and the part was $60 marked up to $100. I called to inquire about the total price ($425) and the representative said the price for any call should be about $500 and I was undercharged. Big difference of opinion. $325 for less than an hour of labor + $40 markup on the part = I'm not recommending them to any of my neighbors. Disappointed. read more

After years of using a larger chain for our plumbing needs, we started to use Brownlee Plumbing for some smaller plumbing issues (leaky pipes, replacing valves, etc.) and had a wonderful experience. So when we noticed a large pool of water in our front yard, and it was confirmed that our main water line needed replacement, we once again reached out to Brownlee Plumbing for help. The quote we received was lower than competitors, and they were able to start work immediately, which was important since we were scheduled to leave town. Jotis and his team showed up during the scheduled arrival time and were able to replace our main water line in one day. The county inspector approved the work the next day, and our travel plans were left uninterrupted. Brownlee Plumbing took care of everything for the project, invoiced exactly what they quoted, and worked extremely quickly to fix our issue. Came back from vacation and realized we had a leak in our hot line from the water heater. The leak was in the elbow of cpvc piping. Had another plumber come to fix what seemed like a quick job. The "quick" job turned into 5 hours due to the age and brittle nature of the pipe and led to a leak in the powder room directly above. Luckily I was able to get in touch with Brownlee plumbing in the late afternoon. I let them know I didn't have water and they came out within a couple of hours. Owner was extremely professional and trustworthy. He confirmed that the piping is difficult to work with but was able to fix the piping within an hour. We used Brownlee for several years but their model seems to have changed. They have a service answering their calls, so the people who answer the phone can only pass your message along, they don't have any information or plumbing knowledge. For a recent service call this meant many back and forth phone calls and then waiting for someone to call me back (which didn't always happen). The second issue is cost...the estimate they gave us was a full 30% higher than another company recommended by a neighbor and the work was identical. We went with the other company. read more

I called Brownlee on Wednesday to request an appointment to get an estimate on moving pipes from a bulkhead into the ceiling and had an appointment scheduled the next day. So, that was amazing. Mr. Fox showed up (on time). In about 15 minutes he evaluated the job, gave me a ballpark estimate (which was more than I wanted to spend) and explained why it was that high, and then recommended to me that I don't move the pipes and why. I really appreciate the straightforward honest assessment of a professional (who could have easily suggested it would be worth it for him to take my money). Again, amazing.
