I do like this concept. But you have to have a good understanding of how it works, before you get started, or you might be in for a surprise (when your credit card bill arrives later). Worth noting is that you need to join (various memberships available, including daily). Also it's not really designed for all day riding, at least not without returning the bike periodically to a station. The FW Reader article (below) highlights the potential misunderstanding of this system. Rides are most economical when they are 30 minutes or less. You can rent and return as many times as you want during your pass (or membership). If you go over 30 minutes though, it's going to cost you. 31 to 60 minutes is $1.50. After that, each additional 30 minutes is $3.00. DO. NOT. EVER. USE. Their entire business is based on you returning the bike to the station every 30 minutes, unless you buy a long-term pass, in which case it's every hour. This means you spend much of your time having to constantly watch the clock and timing where you are going to get back to a docking station. We used the bikes one day and bought a 24-hour pass, which means we would have had to check in at a station 48 times. We only kept the bikes for 5 hours and received constant text messages telling us to return the bikes or we would be charged. We ignored the messages because we were looking for our lost dog. Otherwise, we would have returned the bikes and just stopped riding because there's no way I would constantly take those bikes back to "reset the clock." This could be a useful service MAYBE for a leisure ride if you have nothing better to do, but even then it's still annoying; definitely not good for using if you have to go somewhere. You'd just keep getting charged. Trust me - you do NOT want to keep having to find one of these stations. More than likely you are a short-term rider, so you will spend time back tracking, or going out of your way, just to find a station. When we sent in a complaint, they refunded us the extra fees, but told us their business model is used all over the country and globe. Essentially, they ignored everything we complained about. I used the Fort Worth Bike Sharing system for the couple of days I was in town for a conference. I rate it at 4 stars because when the system works it is just great, and such a nice way to get to know downtown Fort Worth. Also, the bicycles are all in excellent repair, safe, comfortable, lights work etc. although can be a bit heavy to pedal as the bikes are heavy - construction is solid and safe. As an casual user buying a short-term pass you can (in theory) register and buy an Access Pass at any bike station. But I recommend international visitors (like me) to register online first as the station-based registration process assumes an American address, it requires a zip code and stuff, I didn't complete that process, was frustrated, but registering online overcame that hurdle. A warning, while the bike stations themselves generally work fine, many of the check-out touch-screen stations systems I tried to use were broken so you may get stuck in the middle of nowhere (e.g. the Bcycle station at the Fort Worth Stockyards!) Note, this is not a problem if you're an annual B-Card holding member, you can just tap the plinth beside the bike they want to book out) read more

I always wanted try this and after my weekend of biking trinity trails bottomed out when my real bike broke on Thanksgiving, so I was like I will try a bike rental. Horrible experience, never will do it again. Basically they tell you its x amount for first 30 -60 minutes plus additional after each half hr or hr. I knew I was going be out long, so I opted $8 for 24 hr. That's where scam start, its 8 dollar for right just keep it and docking it it every 30 minutes or else they charge what I mentioned above if you fail dock it every 30 minutes. I was explained to me they are for commuting only, not riding and enjoying day, going to a restaurant, etc. I would drove my car more if I knew this, back to fossil fuel for me, rip off read more

So Fort Worth bike sharing... It was something that I had been wanting to try every time I took my weekly voyage into the "big city" to explore and we finally had great weather back in March for me to give it a shot. I opted to pay the seven dollar all day fee to take a bike in and out as much as I wanted. So you swipe your card, take out your bike, and peddle around town until you find a new docking station to check in your bike, and then check out a new one via your private code that you've been issued. Totally fun! But you've definitely got to watch out for a few things on this voyage of biking... 1.) you MUST dock at the thirty minute mark or they start charging you something like one dollar every three minutes you are late to swap at the new station. So the whole time I'm like where the hell is the damn next docking station!? HINT: download the matching APP on your phone! 2.) Cars in Fort Worth don't watch for bikers. Why? No one bikes here.!! Its either sweltering, or icing, or there is a tornado on your head, so its just not a common means of transportation. So just watch out. 3.) The bikers (including me) don't really know if they're supposed to ride on the sidewalk or the street. There aren't really bike lanes, but there are on some streets. On some sidewalks it says "no bikes", on others it doesn't! I opted for the side walk because I figured it was better for me to hit a pedestrian than a car hit me. 4.) Idiots like me think: Hey this will be fun! And haven't ridden a bike since grade school. Sure "its just like ridding a bicycle"... I mean in fact, it actually IS a bicycle, but these bikes are made super heavy with their tracking devices and special metal baskets for all the shopping things you are apparently buying in between bike trips. The point is, balancing these babies is in fact quite hard. I had people MOVING OFF THE SIDE WALK out of my way when they saw me coming.
