The food is mediocre, but is the only buffet close to home. We never thought the food was appropriate for the price, but the kids love it. If they're happy, we're happy. If you're going to visit, be sure to review your bill carefully before leaving. My daughter is 11 but is super tall for her age and no matter how many times we visit, the manager always charges us full adult price. We've never made a fuss about it, it just wasn't worth it. I was in with my family a few weeks ago celebrating a birthday; 3 kids aged 9, 10, and 11 and 5 adults. It came to about $180. We did not mind as the person whose birthday it was loves this place. We were in tonight; same party only 1 less adult. Our bill came to $120. We hadn't considered the difference until after we left, but the math doesn't add up. 1 person is not $60. We calculated the costs and figured out with 15% gratuity included, our bill a few weeks ago would equate to $180. We always tip and are appreciative of our servers, but being told ahead of time that the gratuity was included on our bill would have been nice. Not to mention, we had not realized the discrepancy until now and at the time, we tipped our waitress $30 in cash. Tonight we had a waiter we often get, we tipped him directly, however a waitress came over as my family were getting ready to leave and stood by our table staring at us for about 5 straight minutes (earlier in the night, she refilled 1 or 2 drinks to help out our waiter but that was it.) It made my family and I uncomfortable, but assumed she was just antsy to clear our table for the next round of customers. As I stood with my family, she blocks my way of leaving and says "You know this total doesn't include my tip." I said "I'm sorry, what did you say?" Although I am not a big fan of buffets, this is my mom's favorite restaurant so I take her for her birthday and Mother's Day. It is such a value for your money at only $10/person for lunch. We also get food to go which is priced per lb. They have a variety of food for everyone and even pizza, cheese sticks, etc for kids who do not like oriental foods. My mother and I enjoy the sushi, crabmeat supreme, stuffed shrimp and clams. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to my handicapped mom at getting us a table as close to the buffet area as possible which I appreciate. I'll do this as I ate it. The hot and sour soup was neither but with the addition of one hot sauce packets it was respectable. Sushi rice was a little dry which is normal at all buffets. The ginger was very fresh and the nigiri was also quite fresh. Appetizers were sautéed string beans, excellent, dumplings were overcooked, spring rolls were good but cold and the yakitori was very moist. Deviled crab was tasty but very little crab, more shell. Teriyaki's chicken was fresh and hot(temp). Many other dishes were unmarked or mis-marked as a shrimp dish was supposed to be potatoes. They also had a small salad bar and a larger dessert selection. Unfortunately for my taste, they offered 6 ice creams but non of the 6 was a sherbet. My perfect close to a Chinese dinner is sherbet(any flavor) topped with some mandarin orange slices. The food is pretty good, but this Fortune Star pales in comparison to the one in Monroeville. This one does not offer any tofu dish nor a mixed vegetable dish. There is no fresh pineapple. Figured we'd give it a shot since a 10% discount was mentioned on facebook, Since a buffet's most important trait is the food, and since this place is so new, we expected the food to be decent. Not really the case. There are a ton of options, but options alone aren't enough. The quality was average buffet fare at best. They serve Chinese, Sushi, American, salads, and ice cream (scoop type). While a few of the foods were decent, overall most lacked flavor or were very bland. To top it off, when we mentioned the 10% off discount, it wasn't honored. Update review August 1, 2018 The last few visits the food has returned to the way it was when it first opened, again earning 5 stars. Starting August 1st there are no longer all you can eat crab legs on the buffet on Friday and Saturday, but the price was also decreased. Have been to this buffet in Pleasant Hills many times. Well, in believe today was our absolute last visit. The rugs in the dining area are black from age with I am sure spilled drinks and foods etc... the buffet was quite limited in selection. The cantaloupe tasted like a spoiled wine, the hard boiled eggs concerning. I took a plate to be grilled on the hibachi, the attendant put it on a cart and after an extended time finally picked up my plate and took it. Into the kitchen, I asked for a garlic sauce what I received after it being cooked was a sweet sauce of sorts and the plate was delivered to my table by another patron? Much appreciated but the cleanliness was repulsive, the booths are falling apart, the rugs even an insect would not try and navigate that. Used to be a nice place to dine, I won't be back there until it has a total makeover. Not sure how they are passing their required inspections. This is a pretty standard Chinese buffet (and very similar to the one in monroeville). The main dining room has both booths and tables and there is a side room as well. The side room seems to be where they exiled many families with children (although there were a few in the main dining room as well). The buffet had a variety of islands of food. One was salads/cold food, one dessert, several with hot food items and one with soups. There is a separate area that has a hibachi station and sushi. We went at an off peak hour (around 2:30) so I was worried about food freshness, but everything was pretty fresh and seemed to be replenished pretty regularly. The main buffet has the standard options. Chicken with broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, general tsao chicken and more. There were also items like coconut shrimp, spicy chicken and others. Sides included the typical Lomein noodles and white and fried rice. There was also "seafood" stuffed mushrooms and clams, cream cheese puffs and crab Rangoon among others. Four varieties of soup were available (although they were not getting attention and being replenished). It was mostly clean and the food decently fresh. The service wasn't the greatest, but we were in the side room so we may have been an after thought. They do have changing tables in the men's bathroom which isn't a common occurrence so that is a plus. Overall not a bad place, especially for the weekday prices. read more

Not that the food at Bridgeville is especially amazing, but the Hibachi there is worth the price of the buffet. (A dollar cheaper per adult and they charge .60 per year on a kid.) To me, any buffet with the hibachi grill, is worth it. If the hibachi grill is good. Unless you go to Fortune Star. The food is greasy and taste like a dirty grill. The man who cooked it, looked like he wanted to spit in my food, as if he was thinking, 'why do I have to cook for you.'. He was unpleasant and unkempt. The most positive thing I can say about this place is the wait staff, they were pleasant enough. They didn't go out of their way but they still were pleasant. Unlike Hibachi man. There wasn't much to choose from. Eight stations. One for ice cream, dessert, salad bar, cold food, appetizers, American food, hot food entrées and one for hibachi toppings. That's it. Nothing stood out. Absolutely nothing was outstanding. It wasn't even average. It was below average. And it would've been semi tolerable had when I received the bill not have nearly fallen out of the booth. Even with 10% off, I wanted to die. Now, I am not cheap when it comes to buying a meal. I'll go to Bonefish. If the food is good. I will gladly pay for it. But this was not worth $12 an adult, seven dollars a child, and 2.50 a beverage. And... tea is not free! Back up, just for a six year old, seven year old with two sodas, $19.00! Are you kidding me? That much for just two kids. That was their portion. It pained me, absolutely pained me to pay that bill. The kids barely ate. They gagged. To top it off, I nearly broke a hip and fell when they failed to put signs up on the soaking wet freshly mopped floor. The hostess did yell out a warning after I crossed the linoleum of death. Yeah, thanks, I wish you warned me BEFORE I ate. All the way home with a knot in my stomach I kept thinking, "all that money I just spent for me, my daughter and the two kids, I could've gone to many different places." Granted, $45 is not the end of the world, for less, I could've gotten a halfway decent meal at Eat and Park, For the same amount, I could have gone to Applebee's and got a cocktail, or saved $15 by taking a ride to the Bridgeville buffet and left satisfied. I used to bring my kids here all the time but over the last few years it's gone down quite a bit. Even before COVID-19. Food sits way too long, it barely has flavor, if you put pepper steak and beef and broccoli together, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference by taste. Even at the grill station, it's very bland.
