I explained I have another dentist in KC and asked them to confirm what services would be covered by insurance - that was three or four weeks before my appointment. When I got there they hadn't even recorded that I had insurance. I said (again) that I only wanted the services that would be covered by my insurance. She hadn't looked it up so she blew me off. When I went in they took bitewings and then wanted to take a pano. I mentioned AGAIN that I needed them to confirm that was covered. She said OK and did it anyway. I guess I should have refused, but I thought I might be wrong on my coverage. Dentist saw me and asked for a single tooth xray - I've never had that before and asked AGAIN it that was covered, no real response and they took it anyway. They showed me something I have known about for a long time. They then gave me an estimate for what they think I should do and it was a bit crazy since I mentioned I wasn't planning to do it. At the very beginning I had offered to pull records from my regular KC dentist and they said 'that isn't needed'. Guess what? None of that extra was covered. I was told to call when the bill came and they 'might' write it off. Just got off the phone and they did NOT write it off. Basically stating that I should have known my insurance rules and it's not their job to know that for me. Really??? So, I'm paying a bill for something I begged them to check or not do. Won't go back.

I was in pain and called the office right at 7:30am this morning and they were able to fit me in for an emergency root canal!!! This is my second root canal from Dr. Massey and that is his speciality. I wish that he did everything, but unfortunately he doesn't. The staff are Extremely professional, Organized and Amazing with communicating together. If you are needing a root canal... Look No Further because Dr. Massey is the Man!!! I was told the "I would never understand it" and that Dr. Massey "builds in" extra cost when billing the insurance so that he doesn't have to "chase" people for payment later. When I requested a predetermination of benefits, I was told that Dr. Massey will not provide that because he doesn't want to disclose the numbers he is actually billing the insurance company. SHADY.

She does her utmost to get me into a comfortable position in the chair, I have various medical problems that necessitate this, but I'm never made to feel a nuisance even though it makes Miriam's job harder to work on me. The girls who work with Miriam are delightful, again nothing is too much trouble. I frequently have to change appointments because of my health and they always necessitate my needs, with grace and a smile. Young or old I would highly recommend the Grady Family Practice to anyone, but especially people like me who always thought going to the dentist was akin to entering the valley of doom. All I had done was x-rays and check up. Dr. Carla Duff did not even do an oral exam but just looked at x-rays. Instead of her admitting she could possibly made a mistake, that she got involve in discussion of my x-rays and forgot to check and went to her next appointment, she said, I would never skip that and acted very unprofessional. A person knows when someone pulls out your tongue to look under it for cancer or lifts your lips back to check gums. She did neither but denied it and instead of offering to check it, she got all bent out of shape and offended. Telling friends/neighbors/family to definitely beware of two sides of this dentist/office practices.
