What a great experience so far. Requested information via the Yelp projects and John from Austin…read moreSimply Fit reached out promptly. Scheduled a call to review my needs and was able to get into Eric's schedule for a Friday assessment. The gym is quaint and quiet, I've driven by a million times. The parking is a bit odd, a few spots up front where you have to reverse onto S Lamar when exiting...sooo that can be a challenge. They have parking in the rear of the building which is great however there is a single entry way and well, not sure how multiple cars could park and get out. Just know your reverse skills need to be on point. The gym inside has everything you'd need and since it's not open to the public it's just the clients and trainers. That means no waiting for machines and no one looking at you while you're there. Eric is great, he's very easy to talk to and made the whole experience easy. Upon arrival we walked through the questionnaire filled out online to find out the why behind the personal training inquiry. He then did a body scan for weight and fat %, took blood pressure three times as well. Gave a quick tour of the gym and how things work then it was onto the physical movement assessment. Nothing too crazy, range of motion and flexibility tasks. Took an hour for the initial visit and came back the next day to finish a few small exercises then learn the warm up needed prior to sessions. No membership needed as you buy the session in backs, 5, 10, 20 and can be used how you want. Like that there's no long term contract to sign. Session will start in the next week or so with focus on building/repairing the base/functional imbalances before getting into the fun part. Time will tell how this goes, wish me luck!

More importantly, I drink so much less without really noticing, I eat better and I've built muscle and carved out a lean version of me that's much stronger and less achy than the me I've known for so long. I feel stronger and more stable in my body than I have in my adulthood, and it really does make me feel like I have more energy. I think because I do. Nick's approach goes far beyond just "working out." He has helped me improve my stability, mobility, posture, and overall strength in a way that feels sustainable and deeply functional. It's also just so pleasant to work out with him, I never dread the gym because we go hard, but not so hard that you just want to get out of there, and yet the results are still great! One of the biggest changes I've noticed is in my shoulders and neck. I've had long-time sloped shoulders and neck tension that used to bother me by the end of every workday, and now I'm moving through my days essentially pain-free. Nick is thoughtful, knowledgeable, humble, encouraging, and incredibly good at building a program around your actual body, your goals, and your life. I feel stronger, healthier, more confident, and more connected to my body because of his training. I cannot recommend Nick enough!! See my before and after - not that the outside is really what matters most, but how you feel inside.

I started my morning as usual -- a workout followed by time in the steam room. While walking from the bathroom area, I accidentally placed my jacket on a chair without realizing it was near someone else's belongings. The individual began shouting profanity at me from across the pool/hot tub area. I immediately apologized multiple times, but the yelling only escalated. Thinking he might not have heard my apology clearly, I walked closer to make myself understood. Instead, he moved toward me with his hands up in a fighting stance, even though I was apologizing repeatedly. Feeling unsafe, I backed away to the locker room and called my wife so we could leave immediately. At the front desk, things escalated again. The same individual followed me, caused a loud scene, and then walked toward both me and my wife with his hands still raised as if preparing to fight while shouting at us. This was extremely frightening. The staff stepped up to the counter, but no one said anything or intervened, which made the situation feel completely uncontained. What concerns me most is that management has not contacted me at all about this incident, despite how serious and disturbing it was. Over the past year, I've also noticed an increasing number of individuals who appear to be using this facility as a place to linger rather than to work out. This location seems to be struggling with how to manage that, and it has led to multiple uncomfortable or unsafe encounters -- including this one. What makes this even more disappointing is that I had a very similar experience at another 24 Hour Fitness location in Austin last year. Between both incidents, it feels like member safety and conflict management are not being handled consistently across their facilities. Between this incident, the declining cleanliness (including mold upstairs), and the overall drop in atmosphere, it's disappointing to see how far this gym has gone downhill. This used to be a peaceful place for me to work out, pray, and meditate -- but I no longer feel safe returning.

Non of those physical activities were for my husband and I wanted to find a workout that we could do together that he liked as well. We didn't have to go to far as we found Lagree Fit 415 studio just around the corner from where we lived in SF and after taking the first class, we were hooked. It's now going on 3 years with a break in between cause of the pandemic, moved to Austin, picked up where we left off at TLS ATX and I'm down 8lbs. Most of all I was impressed by their professionalism and skill with guiding their clients through the weight training circuit. There is a very precise methodology and protocol that they are following. I liked it and found benefit to each of the components of it. It's clear that the program was very carefully and painstakingly thought out. Training for this job must be intense. The workout was extremely strenuous, especially when you have been there a while and built up some strength. Having sessions a half hour long is totally appropriate when you are working as hard as you do there and making your way thought the machines at a very efficient pace. Another thing I really appreciated about the trainers here is that they both clearly seemed to have a degree in exercise physiology. I have worked with several trainers before and the ones that actually studied this in college are far more effective. Being so attuned to athletic performance the trainers can tell when you are getting to your limit and can help to push you on. They're great at motivating so you can squeeze every last drop of strength out of your muscles. That said, they also are totally respectful if you need to take a breather, get water and let your heat rate come down a bit. As an out of shape person looking to build muscle for the sake of my health- I felt comfortable here and did not feel judged or that the trainers had any opinion of me being unfit. They were only kind, accepting and motivating. This has not been the case with other trainers I've worked with before and it is noteworthy. They get a gold star for professionalism. I would have liked to continue on but my financial situation changed and I needed to focus resources elsewhere. The cost for sessions is high but it is also worth it for the the amount of focus the trainers put into your work and the fact that it is 100% private.
