Saved $600+ and got a safety issue fixed same-day -- highly recommend this shop…read more A month ago my Lexus dealership flagged uneven rear tire wear during an oil change and quoted me $977 total: $345/tire plus a $287 alignment. The tires still had some tread, so I held off. Two weeks later I noticed a plastic shield scraping under the car. When I looked closer, both rear sidewalls had wires showing through -- dangerous, and clearly a bigger issue than the dealership implied. I brought my car to Pacific Tires and asked if they had my size (255/35/18) in stock. They did -- $145/tire, in stock, work started immediately. While they had the car up, I asked about an alignment: they said it was only $80, with a full before/after printout showing the correction. Total cost: $370, versus the $977 I was quoted at the dealership for the identical job (excluding tire brand). Tires were a budget Lexani brand (made in China), which is the right call for my use case -- I work from home and don't put many miles on the car, so I'd rather replace budget tires every 2-3 years (or however little my these last) than pay dealership markup for a premium brand I don't need. Pacific tires are Fast, honest, and transparent about pricing. This is now my go-to shop.

The employee pointed to a completely different tire -- one that was not losing pressure -- and asked if I wanted to replace it. I said no, because that tire was fine, and clearly explained that I only wanted them to inspect and fix the tire that was actually leaking. After that, he kept repeating, "You said there's no problem," referring to the tire I had said was fine, and used that as a reason not to inspect the leaking tire at all. That was extremely frustrating because I was very clear: one tire was fine, and a different tire was repeatedly losing pressure. Instead of listening or checking the actual problem, he kept twisting what I said and refused to inspect the tire I came in for. They did not check for a nail, puncture, valve leak, or any other possible cause. They just added air and sent me away with the original problem completely unresolved. The attitude was also rude and dismissive. Once I said I did not want to replace the tire he pointed at, it felt like they had no interest in helping me. If you need someone to actually listen, inspect the correct tire, and diagnose a slow leak, I would go somewhere else.

Even though I don't drive often and my car is kept in a garage, the replacement tires (new, not used) they sold me started cracking on the sides way too soon. The tread wasn't run down at all yet. Come to find out, the "new" tires they put on were actually manufactured in 2011 -- meaning they were already older than my car when they installed them! This also means they sold me very old tires, because I didn't buy new tires in 2014 (since my car was brand new). I likely purchased new tires around 2019, though I wish I remembered the exact year. No wonder the tires didn't last as long as they should have. I'm glad I learned how to read the date codes on tires after this experience, so this won't happen to me again. However, I'll just continue going to Costco. Their warranty is excellent -- if I get a flat, they'll cover it -- and tire rotations are included in the price. Plus, this shop wasn't even much cheaper than Costco to begin with. Do not go here unless you want old, outdated tires.
