I contacted Foundation Solutions Because I was concerned about what I thought was a concerning crack in my foundation as well as some settling. I was expecting to have to spend a lot for a repair but when their guy came out he looked at the crack and the settling and told me they it wasn't anything to be super concerned about. He told me they could patch the crack for several hundred dollars but also told me how easy it would be to do myself with a kit from the hardware store. For the settling he also told me what they could do but also said that it wasn't very concerning. At the end of the day it didn't cost anything and put my mind at ease. He could have easily tried to sell me a big repair and I would have probably believed them but they were honest and I really appreciate that. This is a long overdue review for Foundation Solutions. I first called them in 2021, concerned about some cracks I saw in the drywall and foundation. They had been recommended by several neighbors. Kyle came out did a thorough evaluation and offered me several options, including just wait and watch. It was totally low pressure and very reassuring. I wound up having them do some crack repairs of the foundation. I had some concerns afterward so had them back out and they addressed my concerns immediately and without any additional charge, even repairing an additional hairline crack they discovered for free. They also listened to my concerns about squeaky wood floors and installed a few extra supports for a reasonable price and spent the time to adjust them so that I haven't had any squeaks since then! Spoke with their lead coordinator for a foundation repair quote a month ago. The coordinator requested photos and gave me the option to stay on the line or get a callback. I chose to get a callback as I didn't want to keep her on the phone while I gathered the pictures to send. I emailed within 30 minutes, but never got a callback or response to my email. I won't get into the reason we even had to call Foundation Solutions in the first place but Foundation Solutions came through for us in the best way possible. We were introduced to Kyle (project and production manager) late last year when we initially reached out. We'd never had to get help from a foundation company before so we had a ton of questions for him - all which he answered kindly, thoroughly and patiently. He always made time for us to go through our crap load of follow up questions and never made us feel like an inconvenience. Even when we met with Jordan for contract discussions, there was never a feeling of us being a nuisance to them. I feel like there's many companies who get irritated at the customer after awhile but that was never the case here. It made us feel really comfortable and confident in the decision we were making. That feeling only continued after signing the contract. Kyle kept us in the loop around next steps, permit updates, answering more questions until we finally got permits approved to schedule the on-site team who by the way... Were the best guys ever. Have you ever had major work done to your house and missed them the day they left? Did you feel weirdly lonely the next day waking up? Well that was the case for us. The entire on-site crew was great from start to finish. They worked SO hard throughout the entire project and were super respectful to the property. On day one, the team had to take apart our wooden deck. After the guys left that day, my husband and I looked outside bracing ourselves for some crazy mess. Instead, we were very impressed and amused to see everything left so tidy. Even when the project was at its most intensive, you could tell there was a high level of care on how the team left the property for the day. Additionally, while the guys were here, there were days where temperatures reached the 90s and while I would've been happy for them to take a bunch of breaks and slow down, they continued to persist. Humberto, George, Ray, Corwin and Jason - thank you all so so much. I want to especially commend the team lead, Humberto who would greet us in the morning, set expectations for what was being completed that day, and stopped to answer any questions we had along the way. He proactively stayed in touch with us regarding his team's schedule, managed every day's timelines, ensured the quality of the work was top notch, gave us a run down after each day of their progress and set expectations for the next day. A high quality of work, ethic and respect was apparent throughout the entire team. We saw George and Ray a lot in addition to Berto so special shout out to them too! When you require intensive work done to your home, you are essentially surrounded all day by a group of people you've never met - but we are incredibly grateful to have gotten the team that we did. Having to get this work done was not fun - but the guys sure were. Once the work was done and everything was cleaned up, Kyle and Hamilton (who we also loved) stopped by a final time to sign off on everything... and into the sunset Foundation Solutions went. If anyone ever needs foundation work done - or even just checked out, I would highly highly recommend Foundation Solutions. They're a group of honest, ethical, and all around good people. I talked with no less than six foundation companies, including two independent engineers, and after factoring cost, experience, references, and sales approach, I selected Foundation Solutions for our job. I couldn't be happier with their work. We own a 100 year-old house on a slight hill, with a small addition in the front that was added in the 1960s. To make a long story short, the 1920s main foundation is still in great shape, but the 1960s addition had been gradually sinking, separating from the main house and putting the front door out of square. I initially got two quotes, but the range in price was huge; one was more than 3x more than the other. At this point started talking with structural engineers to get an independent opinion. I found a former Navy engineer (BEAR Engineering) who did measurements and recommended several approaches. One of the companies he recommended was Foundation Solutions. Kyle came out to do our quote, and was knowledgeable and professional. Their quote was reasonable, and their approach was consistent with what the engineers I spoke with recommended, so I went with Foundation Solutions. Kyle acted as project manager during the prep and permitting process, and Hunter was our onsite lead during the project. The whole team was professional, friendly, always on time, and great at communicating. I had hoped I'd never need to do foundation work, but working with Foundation Solutions was probably the smoothest contracting experience I've ever had. These guys are pretty busy so it took a while for initial visit to happen and then waiting for permit to finally have the foundation issue fixed. But it was worth waiting. We had a sinking ground issue, the guys are very knowledgeable, proposed a foundation solution and additional improvements we can make. On the first Collin measured everything in the house and answered all the questions we had. He then came up with a plan for us and went ahead with filing permit. A couple of month of wait on permit later, his team came to the site and installed 7 pillars, it was super fast (took about 3 days to install, inspection the next day, putting everything back). The team at Foundation Solutions did a great job of removing old supports under the floor of our house and replacing with their adjustable versions. A team of guys (Sebastian, Francisco and Martin) came in over a couple of days and did the work. Everyone was super polite, helpful, friendly and respectful. They took extra care to minimize the mess and cleaned up each day. Later, David came in to assess our doors and windows to make sure everything opened and closed properly. Our issues with settling have been resolved. Although the time frame from initial contract to completion of the work does take time due to scheduling, weather and city permitting, our project manager Collin did a great job of getting our project done in the agreed upon window. We had a fantastic experience with the Colin who gave us a free estimate! Colin was on-time, friendly and amazingly helpful in answering our questions, of which we had many. We are first-time home owners and had noted some decay in the sill boards and footings of our raised foundation as well as some sloping in the kitchen of our 1930-built home in Campbell. We provided videos/pictures from under the crawlspace and our inspection report from the home purchase. He clearly and thoroughly explained what we were seeing, what he would expect from the soil and construction practices over the past 90 years, as well as what to look for if we needed more-urgent foundation work. He also measured the slope in the kitchen, and recommended that the most actionable thing we should do is improve the drainage outside the back corner of our kitchen wall. As for the foundation, he said that nothing was urgent, offered multiple options for what we could do if we wanted to make repairs in the future, and never tried to sell us on anything we didn't need. We didn't hire Foundation Solutions simply because Colin gave us an honest and upfront assessment of the work and urgency of the need for repairs, and Colin recommended that we seek out a GC/Framer to do some repair to the sill boards/cripple wall in the kitchen if we wanted to be proactive (he mentioned that we likely still had 10-20 years of life left in the boards, despite some decay). We appreciated Colin's honesty and willingness to offer help and suggestions (he was clear to say what suggestions were his professional opinions vs personal and what was in his purview/experience). The rear corner of our house was experiencing some significant settling. This was isolated to one area of our home. We tried everything, geo-engineers, soil engineers, arborists (thinking maybe it was tree roots)......no one could give us a straight answer as to what our issue was, nor exactly how to solve it. It expands and contracts, sometimes significantly (as in our situation), the water table and droughts can both each have their own respective impact as well.
