My family and I were I town for my cousins wedding and we wanted to find a place to eat/drink. We found this place and it was close by where we were staying at and decided to go. I loved that it showcased local art for sale and they had a variety of food and drinks to choose from. It was hard to narrow it down to one. For food, I got The Mater - it's a little messy because of the olive oil, but the taste was great. For coffee, I got the iced Shillelagh - Irish cream, white chocolate, & caramel. The flavor was good and not as sweet as expected which I liked. I'd love to come back here again and try other flavors! read more

In town visiting family...needed coffee. The cold brew coffee was on point. The atmosphere inside the coffee shop was chill. I was even able to get some chess games in with some locals. Might have been me, but I didn't feel like the atmosphere outside the coffee shop was cool. I intuitively felt to leave shortly after dark. Maybe it was me, but whatever. This was my first time visiting here since I was only passing through. Very quaint, nice place. Reminds me of a coffee shop that most college students may enjoy especially since its near Columbus State University. There appears to also be Wi-Fi here as well. Very cool vibe outside with college age kids having a little jam session. Located down the street from Iron Bank coffee, this is a good strip to people watch and relax on multiple bench seating along sidewalk. Like Iron Bank coffee, i was disappointed with quality of coffee here. Latte had little to no pick-me-up and taste was closer to what you'd experience if you ordered a latte in a restaurant. Be it the quality of the beans or method of pulling shots, improvement is needed for higher star rating. read more

The location and ambiance here are great, and the service is stellar. The coffee, though, is only average--I'd certainly choose this before the major chain coffee, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here. Contrary to what another review said, the place is clean, but because it's in such an old building, it can give off that "sticky" feeling that older buildings tend to have. read more

Best coffee shop with a Print of Vigo the Carpathian I've ever been to! I love this shop. Only coffee shop in town that roasts their own beans. Their house is great, but I love their daily drip - Blend of the World, Yirgacheffe, Tanzanian Peaberry are all great. They have killer scones and other pastries (they sell quickly, so follow them on Instagram or Facebook and sprint down there when a fresh batch of cookies or various other confections drop). I'm a big fan of their breakfast sandwiches, but there paninis are super good as well. If you're not sure what to order, ask their staff, or spend at least 10 minutes staring at their menu, which is the single greatest menu board in the history of menu boards. So if you like coffee, food, and random Ghostbusters II memorabilia, this is definitely the spot! read more

What an odd and sad experience at a coffee shop I used to love coming to a couple years ago.... The social warrior behind the cash register asked me for my order it was clear he was irritated with me for some reason. I hadn't been in the place for years so I was asking questions but there was literally 0 people behind me so I suspect he wanted to get back to his phone or whatever he was doing before I walked in. When I placed my order (medium cold brew w/ a shot in the dark) he told me was "those don't really go together. You want just a Krioche*? instead" I asked what that was and he scoffed and essentially said it's the real word for cold brew. I said that I just add the shot in dark for caffeine. He STILL wouldn't accept the order and told me "People don't really order that and then mix it with the acidity of espresso shots. It defeats the purpose" My man, I've been ordering this combination long before you started wearing your social satire t-shirts to raise awareness about 2020 or before you thought knuckle tattoos were a good idea. After firmly stating my order again he said fine, and wrote it down. Then after alll that told me to pull my mask up over my nose immediately. Now normally I'm all for the mask thing, I believe in them and follow the rules. So I quickly pulled it up not noticing it had slipped down. But while I'm waiting for my order 3 separate ladies coming in after me, ranging from 22-35, and each one took turns taking down their masks to order and the social warrior just smiled and didn't say a word! Guess he just wanted to get the last word in with me... Anyway long story short: Fountain City Coffee, I like you but your short, long hair, knuckle tattoo, satire tee shirt, rude cashier has made me a Iron Bank fan for life now. Sad to see this happen. My first experience at Fountain City Coffee wasn't a good one. My wife and I got a double shot espresso, regular black coffee and a cup of water. The water had small black and green particles floating in it. We didn't recognize it until we drank about a quarter of the cup. The black coffee was watered down but also burnt. I don't know how long it sat in the pot. We threw most of both cups away. The double shot espresso amount was slightly more than a single shot espresso that I get from every other coffee shop I've been to. The taste was okay. You also need to ask one of the baristas for the wifi password. Lastly, the room had a weird musty smell (ironically the cafe didn't smell like coffee) and it's also very dim. We probably won't go back. read more

My husband and I went here on a Saturday evening for a pick-me-up coffee. The shop is very warm, cute, and cozy. The staff was excellent, and helped us select some drip coffee and muffins. The hours posted here are incorrect, since they closed at 8 instead of 10:30 on a Wednesday. A friend and I went around 7:30 and both got coffee drinks and I had a sandwich. The one employee was very kind and patient, explaining to us the different drinks and his favorite items. He definitely made that part of the experience great. It was a bit awkward, though, because once I had ordered my sandwich, the other employee was visibly annoyed about making it since they closed in approximately 30 minutes. I understand the frustration, but it made me feel bad about ordering. Right at 8:00, the employee who was reluctant about my sandwich let everyone know it was closing time and had us leave, while I was still eating. I think that if I had known they were closing at 8 it would have been a less rushed experience, so next time I'll be sure to arrive earlier. read more

It feels like a coffee shop in SF of NYC; good indie rock music or retro '80's, sullen pierced youth, whole bean coffee, free cookie samples and a great location in downtown Columbus's charming old-school red-brick main street street. Feels like the main street in Music Man, but weathered and worn from Southern Tornadoes and flooding of the nearby Hoochie Mama river. Tried to work with Fountain to cater a meeting for a small group of people. I was told that I had to speak to the owner about catering. I left my number, no call back. I waited 48 hours, no call. I tried calling back on 3 different occasions. The owner finally called me back 5 days after the initial inquiry. I am in Columbus on a bimonthly basis and stop by Fountain all the time for coffee. This place was a great find in Downtown Columbus. I was early for work, so I wanted a refreshing beverage to pass some time. I did not see my familiar Starbucks, but I happened to stumble upon this gem. It's a great independent coffee shop. This place definitely has a little more "edge" than the national chains. My favorite part, however, is that they have almond milk. My iced chai with almond milk was awesome. If it's a nice day, I would totally suggest walking to the riverfront to enjoy your beverage. read more

Staff here is quite friendly. Looked like Columbus state students working part time. Vibe is relaxed, not cool furniture like a Starbucks but good enough. Drinks were good and the wifi is pretty fast about 3mbs down which is faster than any Starbucks I have been to. They need a furniture upgrade and nicer couches but otherwise I like it. read more

If I could give 6 stars, I would. They have great coffee, amazing sandwiches, its a nice environment and people there are really nice. I can't imagine giving it anything less than 5 stars. The atmosphere seems to be enjoyed from anyone from college kids to business professionals in the area. Its my favorite spot to have lunch or hang out after work. But back to the food. Yes, they are a coffee house, but their sandwiches are incredible! I highly recommend the clubanini, the portabella, or tuscany. Their salads are great too. Do the half sandwich and salad and go for the Greek salad and you'll be one hell of a happy camper, I'll tell ya what! read more
