This was an amazing breakfast and brunch spot, so popular with locals that there was 20-25 minutes wait time. Luckily we got seats at the counter without any wait time. The place is old school diner with compact booths and huge counter. In the back they have merchandise and all the awards and recognitions framed. The menu had wide variety of breakfast items. We ordered the mickey mouse waffle, steak & egg and scrambled egg with tots. The steak was little extra cooked, but still I loved the whole dish, the egg and toast were perfect. A popular breakfast place in Lebanon NH. It was a line when we got there, it was a even longer line when we left. Typical diner menu. Eggs, potatoes, toasts, meats etc. All tasted very buttery and flavorful. Great portion. My daughter definitely loved her Mickey Mouse pancake. Looking at the staff running around was like a show to me. They all were very efficient, remembered all the requests from different tables. At the mean time, so sweet and nice to everyone. We were at the VA Hospital in White River Junction, Vermont. Hubby was starving post procedure and this place was recommended by his nurse. I checked it on Yelp and read positive reviews. So here we are..... We got seated by the counter, no wait. We got our food promptly. The eggs benedict with corned beef hash was delicious. The hash was homemade not from a can. My bagel and lox was also good, only negative was the english muffin and bagel could been toasted a little more. I ordered a sticky bun to go. Good as well. What a fun outing! We stopped on a frigid day for brunch and were so pleased with our experience. Usually, this place is *jammed*, so we can't even park much less get through the door, but it was early on a Friday afternoon and we were seated quickly. Although they were going to be closing soon, the staff was friendly and kind and made us feel absolutely welcome and not rushed. You enter the diner by way of a refurbished dining car with thick wooden tables, comfortable wooden booths (each with coat hooks), and a sizable counter with alternating red and white stools. Magic 8 Balls adorn the centers of tables and the counter top, encouraging fun while you wait for your food to be expertly prepared. The diner was first opened in 1952 and the day we were there, the best music from the 1970s was playing. It felt like there should be a jukebox playing the songs. I could not believe the size of my omelet. I ordered the Florentine and could only eat half of it. The toast was thick and not saturated with butter (which I appreciated), and the French fries were decent. My dining companion ordered the home fries and I think I would try them next time. This place was straight out of a movie, a true small town diner with employees who seem like they grew up coming in. The food tremendous and extremely affordable. I ordered an egg home fries and toast breakfast with a side of bacon that cost around $6. Good luck finding that anywhere else. Everything was hot and fresh, and just flat out delicious. Only area I saw a room for improvement was as their cut off time for seating. There were some walk-ins around 1:40 that were pushed away even through they were still open and had open tables. I was excited when we saw the reviews on this diner, I don't feel like we went to the same place that I saw on the reviews. My husband got sausage biscuits and there was about a tablespoon of gravy, it was so dry he didn't even finish them. That is noteworthy because I've never seen him not finish the plate of sausage, biscuits, and gravy. I got two poached eggs and tater tots. I have never had eggs with such little flavor and couldn't believe how small the portion of tater tots was. Our breakfast was $35 I asked after we ate if I could get a half water of the beignets because I've never had them. I wanted to taste them. The server asked the manager and the manager said no. That was very bit disappointing as well. The bathroom was dirty and the no hot water. The water from the hot water was colder than the air outside... We won't be back. We like to try diners when we visit Vermont so decided to try this one. Almost all the diners we have tried have been great but not so for this one. I ordered s Greek salad which was basically a bowl of romaine with a sprinkle of spinach, a few olives, a few slices of cucumber and crumbles of feta. No bread comes with it so the waitress asked in I wanted rolls. These were raw dough, ugh! A first! I complained and received a biscuit which was very good. read more

This breakfast and lunch diner is awesome! It's a classic relic and once you eat here you will definitely want to go back in again. I love the Four Aces Diner for all of its 50's era nostalgic charm, vintage decorations, family atmosphere and incomparable breakfast dishes. How does it close at 2pm when people (me and tons and tons of others) clearly can't get enough of their food? :) This seems the way of the Upper Valley folk who eat early because I've seen a few restaurants close by 2 or 3 here. Their menu selection is awesome and I want to try it all. They offer every type of breakfast from a salmon and cream cheese bagel to avocado toast to French toast to breakfast burritos to eggs benedict to tater tots to poutine. I love that they have a dish called Redneck Benedict. And on the breakfast burrito there is something called Cowboy Caviar. This is basically a pico de gallo with beans. The pancakes are big. No: gigantic. And fluffy and delicious! I ordered 2 with an egg dish and ended up taking one home. Their eggs breakfast platter dishes are also amazing and they come served with Boston baked beans. I am mystified. What is this about? I also saw another New Hampshire diner serving beans at breakfast. I guess it is a Massachusetts thing? No idea and will someone please fill me in? Anyway, definitely come here early and it will be awesome. You can get Portuguese muffins here which are like sweet, oversized English muffins and not easy to find. They also have regular baked muffins here that you can order grilled, which they suggest. Yum. They also have an awesome lunch menu which I've never tried that includes soups and sandwiches, including pulled pork. They are closed on Wednesdays because they are the Four Aces Diner, so they can be. But at least they are not closed on Saturday or Sunday. Weekends have a line out of the door for seating even in the winter. Speaking of winter, the parking lot and sidewalks can get icy, so if you are not a local and are traveling with someone who is mobility challenged, be very careful going in. They have a prominent link on their website homepage at 4acesdiner.com where they encourage takeout and online ordering. Make sure that you order before 1pm but definitely not at 1:30pm because online ordering may not be available until the next day. This is probably because of the lines and high volume in this local gem. For large people: the counter is quaint, so if you are dining solo, you'll be arm-and-arm next to someone if you've got a winter coat or big sweater on. I guess that is why the people at the counter sort of keep to themselves but are polite and kind. I have enjoyed the conversations struck up at this counter. My boyfriend and I stopped here for brunch on Labor Day Monday. We arrived a little before 11am, and waited about 30 minutes for a table. The inside of the diner is super cool and filled to the brim with random decor, and basically every inch of the walls are covered with quotes and art. I had the banana pancakes. They were incredibly fluffy, so much better than the rubbery pancakes I tend to expect from diners. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak, which he really enjoyed. We came and there were a ton of little boys (by little I mean college students, I'm just old... lol) waiting for a table. We were scared because the place looks really small. But they managed to sit us at a booth and turned away the 25 college students for no room. Thank goodness! We ordered chicken and waffles, kitchen sink omelet, and the joker. Along with walnut sticky bread and cinnamon monkey bread. My chicken and waffles were pretty good. The chicken were cooked right, good crunch. The waffles were good too. They also have a bourbon maple syrup. The monkey bread is good, we went overboard and got the sticky bread too, really similar but the walnut one has a good crunch. Plenty of food, not too greasy. !!! Terrible Service, Ignored for Nearly 2 Hours!!! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My experience at 4 Aces Diner was beyond unacceptable and felt completely deliberate. We arrived just before 11 AM and requested a table for two. I was told it would be a few minutes, though no specific wait time was given. They added my name to a handwritten list in a yellow notebook, handed me a pager, and I went outside to wait. After about 15 minutes, another couple came and added themselves to the list. I noticed something strange after about an hour when that same couple--who arrived well after us--was called in to be seated while my name was completely skipped. I went inside to ask about the wait time and was told I was "next" on the list. Fine. I went back outside, only to be skipped again for a family of five or six who arrived much later than I did. At that point, I had been waiting for nearly two hours while watching multiple groups arrive after us and get seated immediately. When I expressed my frustration to the hostess and handed back the pager, all I got in return was a dismissive "ok." No apology, no acknowledgment of the mistreatment. At no point did anyone try to make the situation right or even explain why my party was repeatedly ignored. This wasn't just poor service--it was deliberately disrespectful. The staff knew we were waiting outside, confirmed my name multiple times, and yet we were intentionally overlooked for almost two hours. If you're looking for a place that treats its customers with decency and fairness, I would strongly suggest avoiding 4 Aces Diner. You might end up ignored like I was, waiting endlessly while other people breeze in and get seated. I won't be returning, and I recommend others think twice before subjecting themselves to such awful treatment. read more

On a trip from MA to VT with friends, we were in search of brunch - thank you Yelp for bringing us to Four Aces! This place is AWESOME! It is so cute and quirky inside. The second you walk in the door you can smell the maple syrup and pancakes - if they could bottle that smell it would be a best seller. They have a pretty big menu with tons of vegetarian-friendly options. We ordered a ton of food but some favorites included the vegetarian chili, the steak omelet, and the brussel sprouts appetizer (it was a special that day). The food was awesome (and unique!) and the service was top notch. I am bookmarking this one for our future road trips for sure! We can't wait to come back. read more
