DO NOT USE! Terrible and disrespectful company. If you are moving a used couch and they damage it? They say "oh well, it was used so who cares if we damage it!" They said the damage was repairable and when I asked them to fix it they went silent! They refused to use moving blankets even though I asked them to. I wouldn't even be in this situation if they had. They squeezed it through my doorway and didn't cut it because "it was too time consuming". I hired these supposed "sofa moving experts" to avoid damage and yet they couldn't even do that. They offered me a measly $100 refund which is just an insult. Horrible. STAY AWAY!!!!! These people are the worst. They promise one thing and deliver another. Workmen showed up, said they would be back in 20 minutes, and never came back. I called and was told the power tools were not charged. I had to call; no one contacted me. They said they would come the next day between 12 and 2; no one showed up. I called and got someone with an attitude saying, "Sorry." Then I was told 3:30; again, no one showed up. I call again and get more attitude. Why am I calling? Finally at 5:30 they show up. WORST EXPERIENCE W SOFAMOVER.COM! Its absolute bull that they specialize in small spaces. When I booked the job w them, I wrote and spoke that I needed my front door taken off of the hinges to get the sofa in. When the 2 movers got my sofa up the stairs, they said DONT TAKE DOORS OFF! (Then why did you let me book the job w you!) They left my sofa outside of my door in the hallway blocking the stairwell! The guy on the phone was unprofessional and frustrated. The team who showed up was super nice and friendly and got the job done quickly and well. Unfortunately, their company is running a scam. I called them because I thought my sofa wouldn't fit in the elevator and needed disassembly. They quoted me $473 for sofa dissemble and reassemble. When they showed up, it turned out the sofa did not need to be dissembled and would indeed fit in my elevator. You would think since they only had to move the sofa into the elevator and were here for a total of 20 minutes, the price would go down. The service changed. I was no longer requiring disassembly + reassembly, just moving a sofa into and out of an elevator. They were only doing 25% of the original job. Well, guess what, they still charged me $473 claiming it was their policy to not change the amount once they arrived. Even though they didn't do the original service. Complete extortion and scam. Also, the only reason they have all these positive 5 star reviews is because they offer a discount for writing a 5 star review. They business is a total scam and completely unethical. I ordered a 9' restoration hardware sofa and didn't measure my stairwell, not surprisingly it didn't make it upstairs. So after about 3 panic attacks the delivery company recommended Sofa Dissasembly and Movers. They were able to schedule me quickly, were extremely competitively priced, responsive and professional. After a nightmare experience with a moving crew that broke a mirror in the elevator of the Craigslister we bought it from, our bad luck continued...it would not get through the door. Man, we definitely felt Ross Geller's pain. PIVOT! Enter Sofa Disassembly and Movers. This whole fiasco begin around 730pm in Manhattan and David and Enrique came to us on a Monday night at 10pm you guys. Seriously, we thought we'd be sleeping on that couch on the sidewalk with the rats that night. Our couch was a little complicated too because it has a pull out bed with a chaise. It took a little over 2 hours to literally do surgery on our couch but they stripped it apart and put that Humpty Dumpty back together again. And it was glorious. I'm not from NY so idk how much this type of service would cost but especially with the timing and them staying until 1230am without BREAKING anything, we were willing to pay up. They were also kind enough to cut us the Yelp deal- mention yelp and they'll knock off some moola depending on the difficulty of the job (range of $15-50). Our only regret is not having them move it in the first place because we ended up paying the movers AND these guys. This company asked for a review, so here it goes: It's gone WAY downhill since I first used it. I was grappling with a one star review, but the very young, very sweet crew made me pause. The actual "front office," or dispatch now sucks. Some guy named Eric actually had the nerve to hang up on me when I was trying to glean why the crew was four of five hours late. Yes they were that late on a moving day with perfect weather. So late, in fact, that our new building had to keep the super on overtime to open the cargo door and elevator. Did Eric and the company apologize? Nope. Reach out to thank us and the super? Nope. And what was the reason for the delay? "Traffic," which was pointedly a lie (sorry Eric, there's something called Google maps and Waze). Pay $100 more and get a real company like Intense. I sure will. read more
