Cast in action, mimicking a coach in audience

NEW LOCATION ALERT! Their location is at Stage West Theater on Vickery blvd, just south of I30, less than 10 minute drive from old location on Houston street in downtown (see their FB page for details). Parking AND entrance are in the back of stage west building (you can NOT enter from front) This is improv with a LOT of twist! They incorporate short skid, music, images on projector, outfit changes, paper suggestions, & plenty of interaction with audience. Admission is $30 pp. There's a bar on site for water, wine, beer, & cider (see picture for pricing). They are SOLD OUT most weekends, so get there early to get your seat(s) & make sure you are not interrupting the show (it does get annoying, be courteous!). They can pick anyone in the audience, even if you sit in the back! The sound quality from the mics during their songs, made it hard to understand at times, so we missed out on some of the jokes. Other than that (& the late comers walking during show looking for empty seats), it was great!

    Where the fun happens!

While no longer in their theater downtown, the guys at Four Day Weekend are as funny as ever! Currently they are playing at Casa Mañana's Reid Cabaret Theatre. This intimate setting brings the audience right into the action. Don't think sitting in a booth on the back wall will get you out of the spotlight! The theatre does have a full bar to help wet the appetite. So come prepared with your favorite saying and get ready to laugh.

The theater. Nostalgic and small. Very cool place.

This was definitely worth the experience and we plan to go again. Website said "Who's Line Is It Anyway" meets "SNL". They weren't to far off. Using skits with cues from the audience that were filled out pre show, and twice using audience members to either creat a skit off of their experiences and once using an audience member in the actual skit. Good laughs. Funny watching them, some of them would even laugh and have a hard time performing. Adds to the fun!!! Consider arriving 30 minutes or more early, so you can fill out notes to place on a board that they use in the show. Good times! At $25 per person it really is a great deal. They do serve drinks. Small bar prices, and there is an intermission to take a break about 45 minutes in. We went to the 7:00 show and we were out about 8:40.

Improv is a tough game-I know just from observing--and these guys are fast, funny, and awesome at recurring jokes.

Set design, costumes, choreography, singing, music, acting were all top notch. Some of the things you should know before you go. 1) Parking can be a challenge because they don't have their own garage. There are several garages nearby (about a block walking distance), but you will want to arrive really early to make sure you have time to find a space, make your way to the theater, and find your seat before the show starts. We were coming from Richardson, so we knew we would need over an hour to travel there, but because of the parking situation, we left even earlier at 11:30 am for a 1:30pm show time start. 2) The building is quite modern. They have several entrances, but you may be asked to wait on the street in the elements before they open the doors and start scanning tickets. Be prepared to stand in the elements. 3) The seats are quite narrow and the arm rest is shared with your seat mate. If you are an average sized American, you might find the average seats quite uncomfortable. The person next to me was blubbering through her seat into mine. She was also very enthusiastic tapping along with the beat. Both things were unpleasant for me. There are box seats that have independent chairs. If I return to this venue, I will pay for one of these to avoid feeling like a sardine. They have an amazing line up of shows. I wish they were closer because I would definitely be a season ticket holder so that I could enjoy every single one of their amazing shows.

Prior to doors opening, you can have a alcoholic beverage or burger at the Backyard, which is a small bar under string-up lights. They have live music playing. The artist we saw playing, Don Burke, was very talented. My husband and I watched Pan Arcadia last night, it was a whimsical interpretation of the Peter Pan and Wendy story told by human actors as puppets (but also as themselves). I've got to admit I was very confused as to what was happening for many of the scenes but was able to get the general gist at the end. Let's just say- if you don't already know the Peter Pan story, I imagine you would be hopelessly lost. The live music was wonderful, fitting, soothing, and carried great for being in an outdoor theater. The acting was very sincere. Since you are exposed to the elements you might notice huge insects and spiders but they at least offer complimentary bug spray around the premises. This is a novel way to do date night and definitely worth a try.
