Apps: The cauliflower koliwada was ok, a spicy carrot mash with peanut and chili crumble; it cooled too quickly, I think and that made it soggy instead of crunchy. Flavor bomb burrata was amazing - on top of a naan, tomatoes and green garlic chimichurri with a fresh burrata and what was like a very sweet spicy honey on top - delicious. Sadly they were out of the truffle chicken masala. We opted for the butter chicken - also delicious and rich. Palak paneer - always nice to see the spinach version. Very good. Both were great with the garlic and butter naans... sopped up with the naan or rice, delicious. The 'Rarha' Lamb Chops were ok, overcooked until the bone crumbled so a bit hard to pick up, cutting it was a bit tough, and the mustard-tumeric potatoes were very good but heavy. BYOB. Menu completely online and somewhat hard to see -- bring a big phone. Street or muni lot parking. Servers were pleasant but often busy cleaning up - a bit of dropping things all night - customers knocked over their lights, dishes fell, glasses broke - I felt like it was a Jewish wedding with all the wares falling on the floor mid-way through dinner. We stopped by Four Monkeys on a busy Friday night, and the place was packed, always a promising sign. Even with the crowd, parking wasn't an issue at all; Lot 3 is right nearby and there's plenty of street parking, which made getting in and out painless. Inside, the restaurant is on the smaller side, but they've managed to fit in a surprising number of tables without making it feel cramped. The lighting is dim and moody in a way that works well for the space, and the subtle monkey-themed decor is genuinely charming- playful but tasteful. Menus are all via QR code, and even the cutlery feels upgraded and fancy, adding a nice touch. Service was a highlight. The staff is friendly, helpful, and refreshingly honest as they guided us through the menu, prevented us from over-ordering, and offered thoughtful recommendations. For water, they give you options: tap, sparkling, or still. What we ordered: * Pili Mirch Paneer Tikka (appetizer) * Bandar Butter Chicken * Homestyle Bhuna Chicken * Garlic Naan (pro tip: the naans are huge, one is easily enough for two people) The paneer app was really solid, think paneer tikka with a definite kick, paired with some tasty dipping sauce, chutney, and even grilled pineapple. A fun combo and definitely one of the stronger dishes. The mains, though, both the butter chicken and homestyle bhuna chicken, leaned very much on the milder side. The sauces were more liquidy than expected, and they felt geared toward diners who prefer Indian food without the heat. With slightly less gravy and a bit more spice, both dishes could've been standouts. The garlic naan was fine, though more firm than the soft, melt-in-your-mouth style I usually prefer. Overall, I'd say Four Monkeys is a good try and a nice addition to Summit, but probably not my go-to Indian spot for the food alone. I'll say this for Four Monkeys. I almost think this was a group of guys who loved monkeys, built out a space to house their monkey collection and then decided to make it into a restaurant. These guys are heavily invested in the monkey theme. I really enjoy Indian food. The wife hates cumin. Hates it. Cumin gets her fumin' as the kids say. Not sure where they're saying it, but some of them are. So I am on my own for lunch. Which is unfortunate. Because lunch would have benefited greatly from several more people, all ordering different things and sharing them. As it is I what to choose one item and make the best of it. I had the chicken tikka, butter naan, and rice. Everything was very good. Portion was good. The takeout menu looks more exciting. I will need to try that. The day I went the restaurant was very hot. Do they not have air conditioning? Was it broken? Nothing was mentioned. Service was perfunctory. I came in at 2. Restaurant closes at 3 to change over for dinner. Honestly they seemed a little annoyed. An hour is plenty of time to eat lunch. Certainly was in my case. They seemed much more intent on changing the restaurant over for dinner than say, refilling my water glass or checking to see how my lunch was. I think I will try the take out which seemed like some really interesting ideas. Do not know if I will be back to eat there. Maybe on a cooler day with friends to try some other dishes. Long overdue review. Visited last year for my Bday with friends, and we all loved the food. It's rare to find an Indian Restaurants that has good reviews from Indians and non-Indians. While they did westernize some of the dishes, they still maintained the overall flavor and taste, so the food was not bland or lacked the authentic Indian taste. I visited Four Monkeys last weekend with my family & we absolutely loved it! Dining out with multiple food allergies can be tricky, thankfully the team at Four Monkeys was very responsive and responded to my email correspondence immediately, assuring me they had options for us. They did not disappoint! My son ordered baby goat curry & enjoyed every bite! We also ordered Bandar Butter Chicken and Tandoori Pomfret. The butter chicken was better than I expected, I'm not usually a fan, but this was excellent! Flavorful and not overly creamy. My favorite dish of the night was the Tandoori Pomfret, it was divine! Cooked to perfection and a decadent curry base. The staff was incredibly helpful. We worked with the Manager, Pankaj, who went over the entire menu and helped us decide on a safe dish for my son. He then confirmed our choice with the kitchen before placing the order. Pankaj checked on us multiple times to ensure we were enjoying our dinner, the extra care was greatly appreciated. We made a reservation well before their posted closing time, and when we arrived we were told that we had 1 minute to order. Felt extremely rushed because of that. We weren't even really greeted. Beautiful space, albeit a bit dark in lighting. We started with trio of Samosas. Everyone liked this fish. We got the Pani Puri with a mint and spicy water. I loved this so Much! We got the crunch cauliflower which I'd order again. The shrimp Lettuce wraps are outrageous. The menu is a modern take by the chef on Indian cuisine. For main courses we got the Aloo Goni; Bhutanese chicken; chicken Chettinad, and Rarha lamb chops with bucket chilli naan and the tandoori roti. Delicious. It is an unique name that attracted me to come in for dinner. They are more like an Asian fusion Indian food with great interior decoration. I ordered the shrimp lettuce roll. Amazing! Was looking for a Resturant in the summit area to eat and four monkeys came up. I'm really picky with Indian food especially because I've had some of the best Indian food in LA, but the flavors were so rich and flavorful! I only wish there was more chicken in the butter chicken because the sauce to meat ratio was a little off but it was still so delicious nonetheless. The presentation was also gorgeous and I loved the interior! Service was great, our server checked up on us often and was super nice. This place was absolutely delicious. The food was Impeccable and the service was so attentive, kind, and super helpful in their recommendations. I came here with my family, super excited for some yummy Indian food and I was blown away by how delicious each dish was, it kept getting better and better (as though that was possible)! Maxwell was our server and he made such great recommendations. He was so kind. We started with the Pani Puri, we did the guava and pineapple water, and it was such a cool experience and so yummy too. Next we did the Ghee Roast Eggplant, and WOW. THE FLAVORS!!! Now, Maxwell recommended we get the cheesy Naan and wow wow wow. We put the eggplant on top of it and it was a game changer. Each bite was just more and more mouth watering. Then we had the flavor bomb burrata and it's a must try. The flavors really were just like a bomb in the mouth and each bite was just so delicious. I, of course, also put this on the cheesy naan and it did not disappoint. For the entrees, we split two, the butter chicken and Maxwell recommended the baby goat curry, both were absolutely divine. The flavors were amazing and it was not very spicy, it was perfect. I enjoyed each bite so much. We got the garlic naan for these to dip in the sauces, I highly recommend. Lastly, the tiramisu. Get it. Best tiramisu I have had in my life. You won't regret it. If you're full, make room. Overall, the ambiance of the place was beautiful. Dining at Four Monkeys is an exquisite experience from start to finish! The ambience, service, presentation and the food are all delightful. We came here Friday night without a reservation. They were able to accommodate us after a short wait, but the kitchen closes at 9:30 so we were somewhat limited in our full exploration of the menu. We opted for four starters so we could get a sample of the menu. We had the following -Sweet and Sour Eggplant Bruschetta - perfectly spiced, with well cooked chunks of eggplant -Shrimp Balchao Lettuce Wraps - another slightly spicy delight; the heat of the shrimp tempered by the cool lettuce wraps -Fish tacos - crunchy, crispy fish wrapped in an Indian soft bread -Lotus Root and Lentil Dumpling Chaat - by far the most unique and special item! Delicious, fresh flavors and unique textures. We enjoyed the food so much, we returned on Sunday for lunch. We had -Crunchy Cauliflower - deep fried and battered with a yogurt based side sauce -Buttery Lobster tails - perfectly cooked, on a bed or Indian spiced mashed potatoes with a coconut curry "gravy" - delightful! -Paneer Butter Masala - the most "traditional" Indian dish we tried - rich, creamy curry sauce over firm chunks of paneer -Arabic Naan to soak up the extra sauce In addition to unbelievably delicious food, the restaurant itself is beautiful. I will say I appreciated the variety on the menu and to some extent the presentation. However, a lack of flavor impact and disjointed condiments did NOT justify the overly-inflated price point. We visited on a weekday for lunch and only 3 tables were occupied. The host at the front was on the phone with a customer and took a few minutes to acknowledge us. When we were eventually directed to a small table, I asked if we could sit in a comfy booth between two of the other guests and was told a flat out "No, this is the only table we have". Not off to the greatest of starts. We ordered only apps- crispy okra, cauliflower and grilled paneer. My wife had a salted lassi and I had a soda. I threw in a roti just to have a bread as well. The okra had some flavor but was cut so thin and overly fried that "crispy" became "straw". I would recommend cutting them just a hair thicker so they dont become overly dried. The cauliflower was good, and had a great mustard seed relish (the only relish that worked this afternoon). The grilled paneer was where we got lost. It looked like just the visible edges had been flamed to give a grilled appearance but nothing on the sides and bottom edge looked as if it had seen heat. It came with an aioli sauce which was taking up 1/3 of the plate and NOT matched well. Saving grace was the roti- tasted fresh. I will also give kudos to the servers who brought food out fast and were very polite. All in all, I love the efforts being made here but a lot of tweaks are needed for us to find the quality of food matches the price-point and experience. read more

Parking wasn't bad- had to pay the meter for an hour but there was plenty of street parking. Food was just spectacular. Fresh. Tender. Flavorful without being overwhelming. Our third or fourth time there and very disappointing this time through given the service. And we won't be going again. Party of six. Three of our proposed orders were deemed "too spicy" and the waiter just shook his head no. I talked him into one and it was very spicy but fine and edible. We wanted garlic, butter and chili Naan, but our waiter kept shaking his head no at the Chili and saying "no .... cheese". Three times. We got the cheese and it honestly sucked (and did I mention, we wanted chili). They only could find one paper menu for us and it was torn and barely held together. Never refilled our waters (apparently disappointed that they didn't sucker us into opening one of the unmarked, still water bottles in front of us when we sat down ... which I did the previous time and paid for ....). Never checked on us. An entree never showed up. And we felt rushed (for a 7:30 reservation on Saturday night). Butter chicken was fantastic (and the only thing keeping this from a one star) but it was very, very light on the chicken. $300 tab for a party of six. We won't be back a fourth time. read more

I was so excited to try out this new Indian restaurant that recently opened in the Summit area! I loved my experience and everything (food, ambiance, decor, service) exceeded my expectations. We arrived around 7pm on a Thursday night and were seated right away without a reservation. It got busier as the night went on, so would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time if possible! The food options creatively combine traditional Indian dishes with unexpected pairings that makes the whole experience super unique and exciting. We wanted to try everything on the menu but settled for the pani puri with assorted waters (chose 2 out of the 4 flavor options) and chicken keema bruschetta for our appetizers. For the entree, we shared the baby goat curry (comes with a scoop of rice) and garlic naan. We appreciated the sensible portion sizes, it was the perfect amount to share between 2 people (and still have plenty of room for dessert, of course!) All of the apps and main dishes were well-made, the meat was cooked and spiced to perfection. My absolute favorite part was the dessert! The gulab jamun tiramisu seamlessly combines two of my favorite dishes- highly recommend! Overall, service was very friendly and efficient. Our empty dishes were cleared away quickly to make room for the next. And the food came out quick, as well. Everything was priced fairly for the quality you pay for. Pretty good Indian. There is a nice vibe inside. I attended a special event which featured various dishes and cocktails. The dishes were pretty good, but cocktails were a miss for the event. Service was pleasant, but I am unsure if the staff helping was different for the special event and were not trained to know the difference between dairy-free, vegan, and vegetarian. As an example, the delicious soup with chicken is NOT vegan. As a result, one of our friends has been dealing with her allergic reaction. It's a BYOB and they say that there is a corkage fee of $10. Tables are bit close to each other but gives you an opportunity to eavesdrop on some cool convo's. Food: We started with an loved the Double Cream & Scallion Pesto Chicken Tikka - tandoor grilled chicken tenders in this ridiculous sauce. An absolute must! The dessert also did not disappoint. Liked the chai tres leche and the tiramisu with unique presentation like a flower pot. It's not like a classic Tiramisu but still had good taste.
