I stayed in Newton for a work trip. All the hotels in downtown were priced high. The hotel is decently located near shops and restaurants. There are 2 restaurants on site, very convenient and the Tavern was great. The room was decent for a king suite and the staff were friendly. The downside was the hotel sits on top of I-90 which is very loud. I should have known when the hotel receptionist mentioned the white noise box and offered ear plugs. If you are a light sleeper I'd suggest getting a room away from the highway or choose another hotel.

Let me start with how cool is it that this place is hovering above I-90 does giving it a beautiful view(if your into cars and observation) at night and day. Front desk was helpful. Breakfast buffet if not included with the stay is $18. Free water refills at the gym(2nd floor), gym is spacious and clean. Pool is under construction during this visit. The tavern(breakfast area) is spacious and clean, the server is also helpful. Options for breakfast is not much for the price. Parking is available through a garage right across it and front desk would give you a ticket for to scan. No microwave in the room only a fridge, microwave and extra paper plates and plastic utensils are beside the front desk. They do have computers and printers

Closed for construction but still charging top dollar.

$400 a night. You've lost your mind. The hotel is located, literally, on top of I95. It's surrounded on three sides by highway. You can hear and feel the traffic in the room--it's like you're standing on the road. Plus the entrance is closed with construction. You couldn't pay me to stay here. One positive note, the manager I spoke with was nice and refunded my stay without question. I'm guessing I'm not the first person to be disappointed.

I stayed in room 1228 2 weeks ago and saw mice in the room. Staff was unhelpful and became confrontational. I would avoid this hotel.

Now that I've had more travel experience, I can confidently say this hotel is a hidden gem in Waltham. The apartment-style rooms are fantastic--spacious, clean, and equipped with full kitchens, comfy seating areas, and all the essentials. It's more like staying in a cozy apartment than a standard hotel, which makes solo trips, family visits, or longer stays feel effortless. The service is genuinely warm and welcoming, and the breakfast is a standout--custom-made eggs cooked to order and expertly crafted coffee that beats any run-of-the-mill hotel fare. The location is great too--close enough to Brandeis University for visiting students, but also easy to explore Waltham's Moody Street for restaurants, cafés, and a little local charm. The area felt safe and walkable, and for outdoor enthusiasts, you can hop on nearby trails along the Charles River or Mass Central Rail Trail for some scenic exercise. Bottom line: Whether you're visiting Waltham for school, family, or just a weekend getaway, Crescent Suites hits all the marks. If I ever find myself back in the area, I won't think twice about staying here again.

The biggest discontent came learning upon check-in that there is a parking charge. I don't recall seeing that on the website or in the correspondence sent to me, but I am not saying it wasn't there, somewhere, at some type size. I didn't think a hotel this distance from central Boston would charge for parking. That added $20 plus tax each night to the bill. There are no microwaves in the rooms. That is something that chains of lower status that Marriott make standard (IHG, BW). There was a microwave for public use--that's right--*1* for a hotel this size (BIG). At least there was only 1 I was aware of, there may have been 1 or more others somewhere else, but they were scarce if there were any beyond that 1. I will say I didn't need to wait any time I used it; I just had to go up and down the elevator 3 flights. I used it 3 times I tried to use the computers in the business office and neither of the 2 they had worked. Someone told me they had been that way for at least 3 hours, since he had first tried to use them. I told various staff about it but the best I got for a response was that was something that "happened sometimes". Someone there might want to check to see if the problems have yet been resolved. This hotel is more economical than staying at a similar hotel downtown, and there is a nearby commuter train station (non-accessible). Getting hotels near these stations can be good money savers for big city visits, but there tend to not be many too close to the stations. The location on the Charles River is superlative, and a lot of the hotel property can be strolled along the shore. There is an adjacent historic park that is directly connected to the hotel that is also along the river. You get great river views from the restaurant too.

The first thing I noticed was that the thermostat was falling off the wall when we walked into our room. The second thing was that the room safe was in a drawer and was not even secured. You could just pick it up and walk out. Then I opened the curtains and saw a bunch of dead birds on the ledge outside our window. Disgusting. And the window was filthy with bird crap on it. There are no streaming services available on their in room TV. And I had to call to get shampoo for the shower as it was empty. Horrible experience.

Yes, they were cheap rooms, but we weren't expecting them to be so dirty. All the photos were from just one of the rooms, but all three were poor. I could have added more photos, but why bother. It's one of the dirtiest, dilapidated places I've seen. We picked it because as was the only place within walking distance to our destination, and it was quite affordable, considering we needed three rooms. Big mistake. I should have checked the reviews more carefully. I booked the rooms from my United Airlines App when getting tickets, so we would have something. We could always change it later... now I'm very sorry we didn't pay a bit more somewhere else. We can tolerate worn-out furniture if it is clean, but the room was also dirty. Running our fingers along the headboard gave us a finger full of dust. I should have taken a picture. There were gross stains on the walls that could be washed off if anyone cared... Bathroom was dirty, the couch was so grungy my wife insisted that they give us an extra sheet to cover the couch. The really big shock was the mousetrap behind the bed. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
