We had a great stay at this hotel. The hotel is literally right off the highway, easy on and off. The best part of the hotel is that it is out of all the madness of Downtown Boston. It is not as packed and hectic. The hotel felt like it was recently refurbished. Everything felt clean and new. Our room was super spacious and comfortable. Although it was literally near the highway, you did not hear any extra noise or anything. The parking situation was on sight and easy to use, not too expensive. Absolutely recommend! Terrific location for quick access to the immediate area and/or ability to hop on the highway to Boston. Their onsite parking garage is excellent at only $20 per day (in/out)... Meh... It was just ok. We were in town for a national track meet and some other team parents picked this hotel because it's centrally located to both tracks. If you are looking for a luxury, more upscale spot, this one isn't it. The best adjective I can think of is "dingy". The decor and appointments are a bit dated and look worn and the hotel could use an upgrade and remodel. The gym is small. The only real cardio equipment is the treadmill and there were maybe four. There is one rack of free weights. I don't know that they pay too much attention to restocking towels. This morning there were 4-5 used towels and no clean ones anywhere. I didn't see a phone to call anyone either. What I can appreciate is that maintenance responded to my issue (tub would not drain) almost immediately and the technician was super kind. read more

Aside from being in a decent locations with plenty of food and shopping nearby, there isn't much to love about this "gets the job done" hotel. ==What I Loved== An excellent place to stay if you want to be centrally located. There are some decent food and shopping options close by without feeling you're smack in the middle of Boston's traffic nightmare. The staff is nice and helpful enough. They have a dedicated covered parking deck that is easy to access from the entrance of the hotel. My room was clean when I arrived. I asked house-keeping for some extra towels and they delivered within 10 minutes. The rooms aren't anything to write home about but I felt comfortable being here. ==What I Hated== There is a restaurant at this hotel, but I didn't get to try it. The night that I was here, the kitchen closed at 10 even though the hours on the site and on the sign say 10:30. Social, the bar on site that also serves food was supposed to stay open until 11, but they also closed at 10:00 that night. Maybe remove the closing times on the sign. The hotel is next to the freeway, so there will be noise pollution from the street during rush hour. I didn't lose sleep over it, but your mileage may vary. There was a small hint of fuel or exhaust smell that crept into our room in the morning from the rush hour traffic that came from the air conditioning vent. To be fair, not much the hotel can do about this since they're so close to the freeway but just be aware. Just a general tip - If you're unfamiliar with Boston, the on and off-ramps around this hotel are an absolute shit show and extremely confusing to navigate. You'll have it down after a couple of tries but you will miss an exit at least once. read more

I like this hotel. I also like counting cars. It's right over the road where a lot of cars drive. I stayed up all night and counted over 2600 cars. Sleep, I could if I wanted to, beds seem nice. This hotel is also pretty close to the Boston baseball stadium, the supermarket and places to eat. If i go to Boston, I stay here again. Good times. read more

1/5 Terrible My room smelled stale and musty and I sneezed a lot. The staff were 5/10, they weren't horrible but not welcoming. The entire hotel, reception, elevators, hallways and room felt dingy. The highway runs right under the building. My room on the 4th floor, the highway noise through the closed windows was louder than the air conditioner. I couldn't sleep at all and was miserable. Nice view of the parking garage. There was also beeping in the hallway all night, possibly a low battery to smoke detector? I could hear other guests talking through the walls. Couldn't find the pool or gym despite wandering around for 10 minutes, I don't think they really have them. Awful place. read more

No signage. The gym is on 2, pool is on 3, but there is no way to know. The gym is a reasonable size, but there isn't much in it. No foam rollers, weird mats, dumbells, no universal machine. Treadmills face the wall, TV to the side - just weird and not that functional (see photo). The pool has a weird glass wall for some reason? You have to walk to the end of it to enter the pool and it makes the pool deck tiny. Why is everything here weird? The rooms are small. A 2-queen room should really be a 1-queen with a pull-out couch. The TVs were new 15 years ago. You push a button ont he remote and wait, then push another button, wait - it's infuriating. Not much storage in the room, no table. Owners should look at Home2Suites built-ins to see how to do it. Just an overall feel of lowest possible investment lowest possible overhead, but highest possible price. Breakfast is $18. Service sucks. For being a silver something member, they gave me a "gift bag" with a tiny water bottle and a bag of goldfish. Get f***ed, Four Points. We asked for wine glases and they won't bring you any (there is a bar on premesis). The view is the highway. It's novel, but that's sort of it. You see the headlights and brake lights. It's fine. This should be a $80/night hotel. No thoughtful touches anywhere, nothing unique, a lot of disappointments. I really have to remember not to stay here again. read more

I stayed in Newton for a work trip. All the hotels in downtown were priced high. The hotel is decently located near shops and restaurants. There are 2 restaurants on site, very convenient and the Tavern was great. The room was decent for a king suite and the staff were friendly. The downside was the hotel sits on top of I-90 which is very loud. I should have known when the hotel receptionist mentioned the white noise box and offered ear plugs. If you are a light sleeper I'd suggest getting a room away from the highway or choose another hotel. read more

Let me start with how cool is it that this place is hovering above I-90 does giving it a beautiful view(if your into cars and observation) at night and day. Front desk was helpful. Breakfast buffet if not included with the stay is $18. Free water refills at the gym(2nd floor), gym is spacious and clean. Pool is under construction during this visit. The tavern(breakfast area) is spacious and clean, the server is also helpful. Options for breakfast is not much for the price. Parking is available through a garage right across it and front desk would give you a ticket for to scan. No microwave in the room only a fridge, microwave and extra paper plates and plastic utensils are beside the front desk. They do have computers and printers read more

$400 a night. You've lost your mind. The hotel is located, literally, on top of I95. It's surrounded on three sides by highway. You can hear and feel the traffic in the room--it's like you're standing on the road. Plus the entrance is closed with construction. You couldn't pay me to stay here. One positive note, the manager I spoke with was nice and refunded my stay without question. I'm guessing I'm not the first person to be disappointed. read more

This place sucks!!!! Between the breakfast food, elevator, indoor pool, so much has gone wrong! They charge $6.25 for a basic breakfast sandwich that ends up tasting like cardboard. The OJ is made of powder not real OJ. The indoor pool is super cloudy and smells strongly of chlorine. Something is not right with that. To get into the hotel room you have to body slam the door. Otherwise it won't act right. Also, if you're in the hotel room you can hear the outdoor road noise and feel the vibrations when a plane flies over the building all throughout the night. The elevators don't allow you to go upstairs sometimes to your own floor. Other elevators don't even have an issue allowing you to go up to your floor. What sense does that make?! read more

First time here. Rooms are modern and updated recently. Very welcoming feel to it. View from my 9th floor was beautiful. Everything was clean, at least to the naked eye. Location is good because it's near everything. The only thing is, when you enter through the main entrance glass doors. There are two sets of doors. After entering the first set of glass doors, make sure you take a slight left. I went kind of straight instead of slight left after the first set of doors and was standing there waiting for it to open. Then I realized I was at a glass panel not door. The second sliding glass is actually to the slight left after you entered through the first set of sliding doors. I looked and felt so embarrassed. lol. Not sure why it's designed like this but I hope I'm not the only person that this has happened to. Maybe I'll just blame it on the the jet lag and lack of sleep. read more

First off, let me say that the front desk staff at Four Points Newton, MA, are great--super friendly and welcoming. They make checking in a breeze, which is nice because the freeway noise outside will absolutely rock you to sleep... once you crank up the in-room white noise machine to hurricane-force winds. But hey, I'm adaptable. I've stayed here for 65 nights in 2024 as a Marriott Platinum Elite member, so I've made peace with the symphony of honking cars, truck engines, and trains vibrating me to sleep at night. What I cannot make peace with, however, is cutting breakfast for loyal guests. Come on now, I've been here for 65 nights! That's two months of my life. I could have learned a new language in that time, but instead, I chose to stay here--thinking my loyalty meant something. But apparently, eggs and toast were where we had to draw the line. What's the message here? That loyalty doesn't matter? That guests who practically have their mail forwarded here aren't worth a plate of eggs, toast, and potatoes? If the goal was to make me reconsider my loyalty, mission accomplished. Bottom Line: If you're an elite member, bring your own granola bar. I stayed in room 1228 2 weeks ago and saw mice in the room. Staff was unhelpful and became confrontational. I would avoid this hotel.

We had our recent HS reunion here and had a great time! They were very accommodating to us. We talked to them at length about many of the details and they actually dropped their estimate for our final bill. The food was great. I only wished that they had better options for the wine and beer selection at the ballroom event, but since there was a full service bar/restaurant about 100' from the ballroom it didn't really matter. Another weird thing was that they have a lounge right next to the ball room that I had expected to stay open, but was shut down for most of the weekend. Anyway, for this event it was a perfect choice: easy access to Newton and Boston, fully updated in 2020, great service and friendly staff. Thank you for such a great time! read more

The hotel rooms are loud. All night long you hear traffic as it is built over a highway. The ac/heat vent is like having an open window on a highway. They provide a noise machine which is not loud enough or effective. If you want a sound sleep, do not sleep here. read more

Good first impression but then all downhill. First room assigned had terrible smell, likely from a HVAC malfunction. They immediately offered another room, which unfortunately had the same problem. Various explanations from staff, like a newly installed HVAC unit, hot afternoon sun, to some paint job etc. After a while I also realized that even if the unit is turned off completely it comes on with a loud noise every 3 minutes for about 30 seconds. Very little sleep all night. In the morning, also could not flush the toilet properly, no water pressure, needed 3 attempts to flush. As a Marriott Titanium member this was my WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER. read more

There is zero perk as a Bonvoy Gold or above member. No late checkout, everyone gets free WiFi, no breakfast, no waived parking, nothing. Nice front desk staff. Clean rooms. Weird that to ask for a late checkout, we can't ask until the morning of checkout. The whole point of getting a late checkout is so we can plan to sleep, spend more time in the room, etc. read more

We travel to Massachusetts several times a year and my husband has always wanted to stay in the Four Points. Booking our room online was easy. The Marriott Bonvoy app made check in even easier! The lobby is beautiful and very modern with a cozy feel. We were greeted by the Assistant Manager upon arrival. I have not been this impressed with a hotel room in a long time! Our room was incredibly clean! The beds were very comfortable. I appreciated the mini fridge as we were able to keep cold drinks. I was impressed that the bath tub was huge! I have never seen or stayed in a hotel right over a highway so I was a little unsure about the noise level. I am a light sleeper and had no issues staying or falling asleep. I like that if for someone reason I did, they provide a machine that helps create white noise. The view was stunning! Such a beautiful view of the city! There are many restaurants within walking distance which was an added bonus. We appreciated that there was a Walgreens in walking distance for any forgotten toiletries etc. The Assistant Manager Bruce and the Front Desk clerk were very friendly and went above and beyond for our family during our stay. I was impressed that they greeted us by name during our stay. They were happy to provide recommendations and directions for restaurants or recreational activities around the city! We plan on staying here every time we're in town! read more

Oct2022: 3: I selected this hotel as a result of needing a place close to the house with easy access to the airport. I selected this hotel through the Bonvoy app based on it fitting the criteria I desired. I wasn't able to get to the hotel until the afternoon hours about 1700. I picked up my spouse from the airport and we decided to get her checked in at the hotel on the way to the hospital down the toll road. I noted that the hotel was difficult to enter and it took a bit of concentration to locate the front entrance of the hotel as it sits over top of the tollway 90. There were two handicapped parking areas available at the check in lot. There is a pay parking garage attached to the hotel and adjacent to the front entrance into the hotel. The parking garage has more handicapped parking areas available and regular parking as well. The areas are not good for large trucks or RVs. The entrance was located and I parked and we went into the hotel. We walked to the front desk and a female worker didn't greet us, didn't say hello, nor did she say welcome to the hotel. The worker said "give me your id". My wife was standing there to my side and I looked to see if there was someone else there we had stepped in front of or cut in line. There was no one there but us. My wife said what did she say? Is this the check in desk? I commented that this is the check in window, right? What happened to the smile, good afternoon, welcome to Sheraton, or just hello. DEMANDING my identification upon entering the building was definitely not appropriate. Having a bad day isn't MY fault. I have a choice to choose this location, not the other way around. We finished the check in at the desk, paid for parking, and we went to the room. We dropped off the bags and found that the bathroom door sags and does not properly close as it's hitting the bottom of the frame. One of the window blinds wasn't properly functional. The noise canceling device and the traffic was something to tolerate. Some vehicle drivers passing under the hotel on the tollway, enjoyed throttling the engine. Have driven under this hotel multiple times over the years and was pleasantly surprised that this is where I'd hastily booked using the Marriott app a few weeks ago. Room was clean. Noise was NOT an issue as I just kept ac fan on low. Comfortable bed. Parking reasonable at $15 daily. Free internet for all. Downside is this place is a bugger to get into if you don't know the area. That's. Boston I know but without gps I can't imagine. Even with, I passed it because I was in wrong lane with no chance anyone would let me over. Like many hotels, they've taken COVID as excuse to discontinue coffee, pastries, even a free apple in the lobby. They do have fee for breakfast and there is a Walgreens just down the street for more reasonably priced snacks. read more

Then, in our second room, the mini fridge kept leaking water, the black out shades could not be drawn and the bathroom sink faucet was not working properly. Otherwise it was nice hotel. Extremely disappointing. I always thought Marriott meant quality but I am afraid this hotel is considerably below a standard I am used to. The room I got - a king bed no smoking- is bare, with no dresser, just a cabinet, no carpet, just a small area rug under the bed- one chair. It's a bare room that you don't want to be in. It's low end, cheap furniture and quite depressing. There are two of us in the room but there was only one bottle of water. The soap in the bathroom is so small you can barely use it. There is no bath mat. There is no safe in the room as there is in any hotel I have been in. There is no desk, only a trestle table, narrow and hardly usable. The blinds are makeshift. There is no place to put things. It is all very shabby and unpleasant. I would not recommend this hotel at all. read more

Forget highway noise, we were awaken at 7:40am by extremely loud sound of the drill - turns out they decided it was a great idea to fix elevator at that time, the noise was so bad that we could no longer get any sleep and were exhausted all day. It's hard to believe that breakfast costs $16.95 because there was absolutely nothing to eat, tasteless and dry scrambled eggs and bacon, cereal and apples. The room was ok, but very tiny for a suite. The hotel also needs more security, we were harassed by some freak in the lobby who just walked in the middle of the night as there is no security. I had reservations about staying in a hotel during a global pandemic but emergency renovations on a house I purchased in February left me no choice. My fears were confirmed and I was disgusted after being booked in a dirty room. Trashes were not emptied, unmade bed linens not changed, tissues left behind. Im just thankful that I didnt remove my mask upon entering. Although the front desk staff tried to rectify the situation, it was said this was not the first time that they had booked uncleaned rooms for paying guests. Not only that, but I have seen multiple patrons of the hotel riding in elevators without donning a mask. Please do not put yourself in danger and avoid this place. They are obviously not taking COVID19 protocol seriously. read more

It all started at the end of January. Being a healthcare worker, I am considered an essential employee and thus scheduled to work during a Nor'Easter. Now, driving conditions were expected to be dangerous and as a last minute plan decided to book a stay at Four Points Newton. Now, the hospital I work at apparently had a contracted rate but this presented an incredible confusion for the staff as I needed to stay during the day time to sleep as my shift is overnight. I was then told when I arrived about a "Day Rate" which was "considerably" cheaper than the agree upon previous rate. Again, this caused quite a commotion and much angst to the people I interacted with. Fine, forget it just give me a room to sleep. So, I stayed from 830 AM on a Saturday to 530PM on the same day. Yes, I was in the hotel for 9 hours. I was billed twice what I expected for my stay. Calling the hotel led me to multiple confused questions and being told "you stayed until the following day" when I actually had returned my card and left the day before. I called the manager Celena and was told it would be taken care of and it was not and then follow up calls were never returned. The charge was finally resolved after 3 months and multiple calls to my credit card and hotel. Just unbelievably bad customer service. I did speak to a manger who was incredibly helpful and may have been able to resolve this issue before it got so out of hand. Had I spoken to him initially, this part of my review would be entirely different. Now for my 10 hour stay. The room was incredibly loud for having to sleep during the day time. Thankfully I put the dead bolt on because housekeeping tried to enter my room and in hindsight I had not put the do not disturb sign on the door but why they did not know this room was cleaned and no one had stayed the prior night was beyond me (again I checked in at 830 AM). The room itself was updated but felt old. The comforter had a really unappealing brown streak that looked fecal. The ceiling had a giant yellow stain above the bed and truly had it not been for the snow storm and that I needed a place to sleep, I would have left. I told the manager "Celena" about the noise and of course got "well, if you told us we could have switched rooms". SO, yes I suppose I could have moved rooms but I had limited time to sleep and was exhausted. I was also told every room has ear plugs. Well, I had nothing of the sort yet. Anyways, I would never again stay here. This whole experience has been nothing of a headache. read more

The good: Check-in was easy, the staff were polite and helpful. We had a large room on the 9th floor with two beds, an upholstered chair, and a desk with chair. The floor was laminated, carpet around the bed area. It appeared clean overall, lots of pillows on the comfortable bed, huge flat screen TV, and small refrigerator. There was lots of lighting, a light at the room entrance, a lamp on the desk, and two lights over the beds. The A/C did a great job of cooling, and had the option to keep the fan on constantly, which helped mitigate the noise from I-90. Parking is a reasonable $10 per night, and we were given a card to use to go in and out of the garage. Getting to the hotel from I-90 was a challenge as the entrance is not clearly marked. If you pass the entrance, it is easy to accidentally end up back on 90 and have to go around in a circle (or, in our case, several circles). The room had black translucent shades similar to those I've seen in hospital rooms, but no visible way of raising or lowering them. Behind the black shades were white shades, but also no way of lowering them at night. I tried pulling, but they didn't budge. The not so good: The bathroom had no fan, so it remained muggy the whole trip compared to the rest of the room. The 9th floor, as opposed to other floors, had no signs indicating the locations of the rooms. There was a sign that said "ice" pointing to an alcove, but there was no ice machine to be found. I asked the desk staff who said there were machines on the 7th and 8th floors. Found no ice machine on the 7th floor, but asked a cleaning person who told me exactly which floors had ice. On our 3rd night, just as I was about to get in bed, the fire lights began flashing in the room (no sound). Turns out that was true of the entire 9th floor - lights flashing, but no sound. Walking down 9 floors of stairs was no picnic. Everybody went outside, several fire engines came very quickly. Tursn out the problem was someone smoking on the 12th floor in this completely non-smoking hotel. When I reported to the front desk that there was no fire alarm sound, only the flashing lights, I was told they would look into it the next day. I went back to my room wondering if they didn't care what would happen to us if a real fire broke out that night. There is noise from I-90, which might be a big problem for some people. They do provide ear plugs, and running the fan all night helped. For people not used to noisy cities, having I-90 running under the hotel would be a huge issue. read more

Our room smelled like a musty attic, we mentioned that we didn't have a mini fridge in our room (which sat in the hallways the entire weekend) and the receptionist said "well not every room gets one, I depends on availability ". I am extremely disappointed at the lack of customer service for this hotel. I made a last minute reservation to stay here while visiting my father who is having open heart surgery this weekend. I was supposed to arrive Thursday but due to a different personal matter was not able to come as scheduled. I called the hotel and let them know that I would be in Friday instead of Thursday. Friday comes and I called the hotel to confirm that I will be checking-in today. I was then advised that my reservation was marked as a "no show" and that it was cancelled and they're sold out and cannot accommodate me. I booked my reservation through Expedia and called them also and they stated that unless the property authorized the refund they couldn't issue a refund. I spoke with the front desk manager Selena Griffin who in a very robotic way informed me that the reservation was not refundable. Its very evident that these people are not customer focused. Not only did they cancel my reservation after me calling, they didn't offer a courtesy call prior to cancelling and on top of that after multiple calls they refused to offer a refund. I'm extremely disappointed and disgusted at the lack of customer service. read more

My check in was a little bumpy since they couldn't find my reservation in the system. I showed them reservation and during check in they told me they would leave a note on my reservation. I went up to the room. The room was smaller than expected which made it feel cramped and uncomfortable. I originally booked for two nights, but received a visit from management telling me that system stated I was only in there for one night. I informed them of the 2nights and she said she will check. I was annoyed and would had preferred if they had checked the system and calling me instead of banging on the door to say all this. Since I was already not please with my stay, I said, why am I staying here any longer? So I called the front desk and said I will check out. I went to the desk checked out and then had them verify my reservation. In two seconds without me giving my reservation number, they found my 2night stay. So it's unclear why they came to my door. They asked if I wanted to stay but I am sure why they thought that would work since I had brought down all my belongings, then prove to them that I'm in the system. Why would I want to go BACK to my room? I declined and went on my way. For a person who works for a hotel, I felt they could have done a bit more to make this transaction more pleasant and problem solved the situation better. I doubt I will come back to this location. It wasn't worth my time there. One plus is that they did have good batch apple cider in the lobby. read more

I don't know where to begin. We have stayed at various hotels in this area (all Marriott) and this was our worst experience. First, when we headed to our room for night one of two, as soon as we exited the elevator we heard loud barking from the room right next to the elevator. It sounded like two large dogs who were slightly hysterical. They seemed to have been left alone. It was so loud we immediately opened the door to our room down the hall and called the front desk. The receptionist heard our complaint about the loud barking, and our concern that this was going to be a noise problem, and the receptionist said, "We're a pet friendly hotel." I said, "It's not very friendly to those dogs who are obviously very unhappy and sound very large." We asked to move rooms. When we entered our new room on the other side of this large hotel, the room smelled like the burgers grilling in the restaurant five floors below us. We stuck it out for two nights but there are more issues with the seemingly uncaring staff. Only one front desk associate actually seemed interested in the customers. Even the manager barely looked us in the eyes and no one asked how we were, was everything going okay, do we need any help with anything, have a nice day or night, nothing. It's as if there is no training required to work there. Long way of saying, never again will we stay here. read more

I realize I was in Boston, but had I known the building is literally over the Mass Turnpike, with a lovely view from our room of same, I would not have booked here. The noise was ridiculous. When you find a pair of earplugs on the nightstand, they're there for a reason. The HVAC or whatever was in the wall of our room roared all night, even with the fan to our unit off. This hotel is understaffed, which means customer service goes begging. One desk clerk to handle a huge facility on a holiday weekend? I hope their bottom line appreciates that. The elevators were slow and quite a joke, we ended up taking the stairs mostly. The room had been freshly renovated, with nice upgrades to the bathroom. However! The plumbing was shoddy, caulking peeling around the base of the toilet, the intake pipe hanging out the wall and best of all, the bubble resembling a wasp nest that hung from the ceiling over the shower head, no doubt the result of a recent leak. The restaurant on the ground floor, Social, was a pleasant reprieve and we did enjoy our dinner there. One last bit. I booked this on Expedia and PRE-PAID. I presented that to the harried clerk. She nodded, then asked for payment for parking ($15), which I provided with my debit card. Checked out the following morning, agreed to an emailed receipt (which I thought was for the parking). Come to find out on the ride home they put a hold on my debit card (which I never authorized) for the full amount. Multiple calls and finally got through and placed on hold. Still one clerk at the desk dealing with guests she told me. Well, I said, I was a guest too! And you've charged me for a room that was already paid for. After the 5th call later that night I was told to call the manager the following morning, who told me it was "just a hold" - she couldn't seem to explain why a hold was put on in the first place since the ROOM WAS ALREADY PAID FOR. That was on the Friday before Labor Day weekend. Now on Wednesday, 9/7, the hold is still sitting there as "pending" on my debit card. I'm apoplectic and will never stay at this facility again.
