Bedbugs If I could give zero, I would I am writing this…read morereview with absolute disgust and disbelief after our recent stay at [courtyard ]. What was supposed to be a standard stay turned into a living nightmare due to a severe bed bug infestation and a complete breakdown of basic hotel management and customer service. We discovered bed bugs in our room. When we immediately contacted the front desk (around 1 AM), the nightmare really began. It took an unacceptable 27 minutes for a staff member to even show up to speak with us. To make matters worse, they refused to come up to the room to inspect the bugs and shockingly declined to even view the video evidence we had clearly captured. Their apathy was staggering. We were finally moved to a new room on the opposite side of the hotel at 7 AM. After almost no sleep, we were then woken up shortly after by loud, pervasive construction noise directly outside our new room. When I went to the front desk to complain, the manager was incredibly rude and, in a breathtaking display of dishonesty, completely denied that any construction work was happening at the hotel. Furthermore, we were unable to use the pool or gym during our entire stay as they were closed or unavailable, a detail not disclosed to us beforehand. As we were attempting to check out and leave, our exit was physically blocked. The construction crew was using the only functional exit door, making it impossible for us to leave with our luggage for some time. This is not only unacceptable service but a major safety hazard. The manager has refused to refund us for the night we spent with the bed bugs. We are longtime guests who have stayed here twice a year for years. This experience was not just "bad service"; it was a total failure. This hotel is garbage, the staff is unprofessional and rude, and the management is dishonest. We will NEVER stay at this property again and strongly advise every traveler to steer clear for their own health and safety. I have full photo and video documentation of the infestation and the construction noise to back up every word of this review.

This review is for Comfort Suites Mahway - Paramus at 229 SR-17…read more THIS HOTEL IS OWNED AND MANAGED BY A PERSON WHO DOESN'T HONOR CHOICE HOTEL REWARD REGULATIONS... AND DOESN'T RESPECT CONTEMPORARY WOMEN OR PEOPLE WHO ARE IN LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIPS. My 15-year-old son won a local tennis tournament and needed a last-minute hotel room, so I booked a room at 11:30 pm using reward Choice points for him and his mother. The manager and owner refused to let them stay at the hotel because her driver's license didn't have my last name. The Choice Hotels Rewards program clearly says immediate family, children and partners can stay at hotels booked using reward points (see below) The manager said 'there's a lot of fraud these days' in the Choice Points Hotel program and DEMANDED a marriage certificate (which is not required by Choice Rewards rules). Bottom line, at midnight, the owner and manager kicked my family out of the hotel. They wouldn't let them stay there EVEN THOUGH I USED 6,000 REWARD POINTS AND PAID AN ADDITIONAL $48 for the night. And they kicked them out without refunding my credit card payment or points. I swear this is the truth. IF YOU'RE A MODERN WOMAN who believes you should be able to keep your own last name (and not have to carry a marriage certificate to prove you're married) - or if you're a man who supports women keeping their own identity, STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. IF YOU HAVE A LONG-TERM PARTNER as part of your immediate family and you believe businesses should consider your long-term partner as part of your family, STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. IF YOU BELIEVE IT'S NOT OKAY FOR A HOTEL OWNER AND MANAGER TO KICK A CHILD AND HIS MOTHER OUT OF PAID HOTEL ROOM AT MIDNIGHT, STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. IF YOU BELIEVE A COMPANY SHOULD HONOR THEIR REWARD PROGRAM (see picture for points redemption rules), STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. Where we spend our money sends a message, I'm asking you to send a message to this hotel owner and stay somewhere else instead of here. Thank you.

Including an indoor pool and convenience store next door ( however you're in the antiquated state of New Jersey, so don't expect any beer or wine). The beds are comfortable, with plenty of outlet updates. Free, Tea, coffee and hot chocolate were available all day/night and they do have a very expensive small pantry. Two negatives to this property. 1. The doors are NO where near soundproof. At all! The main door is tissue thin, as is the adjoining room door. Unfortunately, we could not get our party adjoining rooms. At 6:00am I was startled awake by an elderly gentleman who sounded like he was in my room!!! Not acceptable!!! ( guys beware of what you say and DO at this hotel if you have an adjoining door!) 2. we had another heating problem with the room. So we cut off the heater and expected the room to cool down but it did not. The windows do not open so on a 20° night we actually had to turn the air conditioner on to cool the room down so that we could have a 67° room. Completely inefficient heating in this building. The hotel was almost booked so the Saturday breakfast attendant could not keep up with the food. I felt sorry for them. There was quite a hungry youth group that kept wiping out the hot breakfast items. But the options were typically normal Hampton Inn. Over all a fair stay, sans the paper thin doors which removes a star!!!! NOT Acceptable

While I never stayed overnight back then, we often came to the bar or for special events. I will let you know about the room, the staff, the atrium, the grounds and the food served at the reunion. More and more hotels are going towards hard floors instead of carpeting. This was one of them. Everything was spotless and the bed was comfortable. There were two things that were not great. Since the room overlooked the atrium, late night groups congregated and were a bit noisy. It would have been nice if they enforced quiet hours. The other was another minor issue. I could not find the refrigerator because it was not in a logical place. There was a small kitchenette off in the corner. The refrigerator was not there, it was under the TV in the main room. Curious. Staff was very helpful but there was one error that almost caused an embarrassing situation. They assigned me to a room that was already occupied by another guest. A staff member came running up to stop me just as my room key was just inches from the door lock.. Expansive and central to the hotel was a beautiful atrium. It included a koi pond, a small bar, fountains, a floral wall and many, many seating areas for parties or receptions. It was noisy. The weekend of our HS reunion, staff mentioned how crazy busy they were. On my arrival there were two wedding receptions in full swing. I was tempted to, but did not pick up a plate and walk through one of the buffet areas. Weather could not have been any better for an outdoor stroll. Gardens, a fountain, lawns, and pavilions were all around the grounds. All were so beautiful I took many photos. There was one large sculpture in one of the yards. People congregated on lawns, playing outdoor games and enjoying the quiet, even though the NY State Thruway was just beyond the tree line. At the reunion, there was a nice buffet. Instead of sampling all the dishes, I opted for chicken, salmon and some rice. Chicken and salmon were nicely seasoned and moist. Coupled with the rice, the meal had a nice mouth feel and flavor. When I finished my plate, I wanted to see what dessert they had. There was none, but then again, I left early because I was tired. They probably brought those out again. However, I actually did get to taste a dessert morsel. Flashback to my thoughts about crashing the buffet line at the wedding reception. Deception was not on my mind, but as I was passing by a dessert buffet, I commented to a young lady that the ice cream bar looked good. The server immediately offered me a bowl. I made it clear that I was not with the party. He said he did not care. So I picked up a petite-fours. It was very good. Overall, the stay was a nice experience. The room was clean, the staff helpful, the atrium and grounds beautiful, and the food was very good especially for buffet service. While I may never get back to the part of the country, if I do I will stay here again, but ask for a room on the far side, away from the atrium noise.

TOXIC BLACK MOLD & TOXIC MANAGER…read more I rolled in my third time staying there thinking how safe and comfortable I felt there. Not many minutes later, I looked up during my shower to find white, brown, and black mold, to which I am profoundly deathly allergic, rare genetics yay!. The receptionist who was sick and coughing all over my keys (now I've got it, thanks for sharing!) said they were sold out and wouldn't switch the room. My throat was starting to constrict but I wasn't in a condition to go anywhere else so I took some Benadryl and prayed I'd make it. I spent two weeks in the hospital over this only two weeks ago. I woke in the morning in the overwhelming pain of a full blown allergic reaction and asked for a different room. The staff was completely discombobulated and in what I could only guess was a state of fear, it was so bizarre. It took them FOUR HOURS to give me keys to a different room that wasn't already occupied. And then three people let themselves into my room throughout the day and the employees kept calling and stopping by to ask me what was going on. The next morning as I was packing up to leave, I got a response to my email from the General Manager Cynthia Amaro who proceeded to tell me there was no mold. Well, allergic reaction to a toxin is a pretty involuntary phenomenon so my eyes, body, and my genes would beg to differ. I chose not to continue to be gaslighted and hung up to continue packing. She called over and over while I asked her to leave me be. My body was still reeling. Instead she came to my room with a bouncer dude and harassed me until I told her 8+ times in a row to go away and leave me alone so that I could finish packing to leave. She continued to speak over me so that she could ultimately threaten me with the police if I wasn't gone in 20 minutes. It was clear why the staff was such a mess for her insane intimidation tactics. Logic? Reason? Bueller? Bueller? So I called the police because it was very clear I was not safe and she was waiting to pounce. They arrived and we chatted about our military service and they characterized the manager as "very aggressive" and said they had been called to the hotel many times. Not only was my bill not refunded for the immense danger I was subjected to, or compensated for the days of illness it would take my body to recover, but I was charged for a third night when I only booked and stayed two. If you're good with toxic mold, a petrified incompetent staff, a wild loose cannon manager that the police are very familiar with, being physically intimidated and then over-charged... this is the hotel for you!! Word to the wise: keep your clothes on because you never know when some entitled person will walk through the door and engage you in a discussion about why you're already there. I think it's a pretty common occurrence given the fact they first sent me to an alternative room that was already occupied. Idk, maybe communal housing with strangers is your thing. You'll definitely get all kinds of unsolicited attention here! Maybe after the pandemic you wouldn't mind the company! Enjoy!
