You can catch it here: https://youtube.com/@adventureswithmrhayes?si=Mi8ZSXvLpW7Nelzi Update: March 9, 2026 The first of the video series went live this past Saturday. After finding a couple of places closed, we called Barons Creekside. Best thing we ever did! We spoke to Lasca, who was actually out with her family for dinner Despite this, she got us set up in the cutest farmhouse, gave us directions and instructions to get in, and after her dinner was over, she stopped by to check if we needed anything. The excellent service did did not stop there. We were treated like family, and we really enjoyed walking the beautiful, scenic grounds and hanging out at "The Club" on property! Next time we go to Fredericksburg, we know where we will stay - at Barons Creekside!

We really only heard traffic during the day, it was pretty quiet at night, and day traffic didn't bother us. We stayed in Winterberry, and we sat on the cute porch in the evening with citronella (my boyfriend is a mosquito magnet, lol) and lightning bugs. The bed was a little more firm than we were expecting, but we still slept fine. I should also preface that we sleep with a box fan on low for white noise. We were there during the week so there wasn't really any noise from other guests, only a few people were there. I will make note that you can see straight down into Winterberry from the door of the second floor cabin next door. We forgot to tell Debbie, the manager, about that, but it can easily be fixed with a simple window covering. There was no one in that room while we were there so it wasn't a big deal. Debbie was truly delightful, very sweet. She brought the biscuit basket we ordered for our final morning. The biscuits were really very good, they come in the cutest setup, with the biscuits sitting on a bread warmer. Great experience overall. If we vacation in Fredericksburg again, we will definitely stay here.

Set up perfectly for relaxation, but with an easy and fast drive into town. In addition to 6 cabins...There's a community room, where breakfast is served that has a fireplace, wine glasses for those bottles you brought home with you, and games should you be with a group and want to drink and play games as a part of your R&R. Ample parking with chargers for your Tesla if that's how you roll. Craig and the gang were incredible hosts, who are close by enough to make sure you've got what you need, but behind the scenes enough that you can feel like you're secluded in the cabins! They have some great stories, and are easy to chat with, I lost track of time visiting. Speaking of their hospitality, the breakfasts were amazing and so filling. They never let your coffee cup get low... have an assortment of creamers to pick from (but if you need something specific like oat milk, I'd reach out beforehand - they seem very happy to accommodate allergies and sensitivities). First day was an egg bake and potato hash, fresh fruit, yogurt and granola, and a cinnamon roll with house made icing that was perfection. The next day was fruit/yogurt/granola and eggs, sausage, bacon and delicious French toast! They also have a grill on the property so you could likely bring in some hamburger meat or steak and potatoes and cook up a nice lunch or dinner if you didn't feel like adventuring into town since weekend waits at restaurants can be long if you're like me and didn't boom well in advance. Also, reach out to them when you book and they can help you with that or suggestions for meal spots or which wineries to hit up. Ok on to the property. I found the accommodations to be perfect. The cabin has plenty of creature comforts and then some (the bed adjusts to raise your head and feet - perfect for post in town exploring). The bath is deep, long and roomy, perfect for soaking and relaxing with the jets going. The shower is spacious and has two shower heads. There's a small fridge with a tiny freezer space. Coffee maker with a ton of selections, including tea, with sweeteners, honey, creamer. Comfy cozy bed, a chest with some blankets to take outside and swing. And an electronic fireplace for ambiance, you can select if you want heat or not. I spent a lot of time on the swing, looking off to the cows in a pasture across the creek, listening to birds singing off in the distance and the occasional rooster (far enough away to barely be noticeable). The swing is deep and so comfy. You can easily curl up and take a nap there. Also it was nice to swing and look over the community fire pit at night. Perfect gathering spot to make new friends and s'mores! Highly recommend and hope to visit again soon!

The scenery of the property was like something from a Hallmark movie! Absolutely gorgeous. The beds were our favorite lol they were so comfortable! Not to mention the entire house is so tastefully decorated (without having to worry about the kids having accidents). There was even a small Xmas tree we turned on after the Macy's Day Parade! The house is perfect for families! Spacious enough to where you can all be together but also on your own without being disturbed. As the family chef, the kitchen was my favorite! It had all the odds and ends I needed to cater to my nieces. The house had all the creature comforts of home one could ever need or want. Could not recommend Melanie and her home more! 100/10 stars, would recommend and will stay again!

There are lots of options around Texas for romantic spots so that doesn't sound too hard, right? Well, it wouldn't be if you weren't dealing with a hormonal, PMSing girl with mad food cravings because she's trying to be good and eat low carb to squeeze into the size-too-small bridesmaid dress that she ordered. Too much info? I digress. We hit the wine road towards Fredericksburg and after seven wineries, 42 tastings, and six bottles later, he brought me to the most adorable place I've ever stayed at: Carriage House. In case you're wondering, it was just as adorable the next day when I was more sober (my photos don't do the place justice). The outside of the main house was pretty, but no, we weren't staying in the main house- he did better than that. Off to the side of the main house was a little cottage standing by itself. "EEEEE, we're staying in there?!" my tipsy self gushed. The girly squeals only intensified after I saw the interior of the cottage. Hubs had outdone himself. A few tips for first timers: Dogs under 30lbs are allowed to stay for an extra $10/night. You have your very own private parking spot that is literally right next to the cottage. Once parked, you will find a little gate about a yard in front of your car; the gate leads right to the front of the cottage. In addition to the usuals that are provided at a hotel, the cottage is also supplied with dishes, silverware, and wine openers. Just check the drawers around the kitchen sink. Towels and extra toiletries are located under the bathroom sinks, and there is a step stool located underneath the (very high) bed. If you're short, use it. If you've been drinking wine all day, use it. When in doubt, use it. You're not actually served breakfast in bed here. Instead, you're given $10 vouchers (one for each guest) that can be used at several popular brunch spots in Fredericksburg. If Carriage House had a cheesy slogan, I would imagine it to be something along the lines of, "Carriage House: Drink Wine and Fall in Love." So friends, drink wine, fall in love, and check this place out. But don't try to book on my birthday weekend. Because it'll be mine.

The cabin is well appointed with everything you need and super clean. The daily breakfast is so delicious and the owners are open to dietary modifications if you need them. We stayed in The Roost cabin and ate on the back porch each morning. If you get up early you can have your coffee on the front porch while watching the deer. Or watch them while enjoying a glass of wine at dusk. I'm sure we'll be back as the cabins are close enough to Fredericksburg to see the sights but far enough in the country to give you time to slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Steve and Glenda (the property owners) were AWESOME. So kind and welcoming from the minute we arrived. When we pulled up to our cabin and got out we were greeted by a friendly bunch of chickens, they actually ran up to greet us. :o) The cabin was picturesque... there was a screened in sitting area on the back porch with comfy rocking chairs and additional chairs and a beautiful covered front porch with rocking chairs and a chiminea. When we walked in the cabin looked just as it did in the pictures online. Beautifully decorated and very clean. A king sized bed in the main area with a small kitchen equipped with; microwave, small refrigerator (freezer had 2 ice trays and fridge had 4 waters), plates, wine glasses and opener, cups, coffee mugs, keurig (coffee, tea bags, creamer and sugar), dish washing soap, etc. The bathroom was the perfect size with a walk in shower (it was very clean). The loft upstairs was perfect, again very clean and super cute. It is a small space but perfect for climbing in for a good nights sleep. There was an oscillating fan in the loft which helped with the air circulation. Very cozy! Both beds were very comfortable. There was a flat screen smart TV in the main area, we were able to watch Netflix or regular television. The AC worked great. In the evening we sat on the front porch and had a fire in the chiminea. Steve and Glenda stopped us on our way in on our first night there and asked how we liked our eggs prepared, they also asked if we had any dietary restrictions. They told us that they would deliver our breakfast to our door the next morning between 8:30am-9am. The next morning they were right on time and did not disappoint. A beautiful display (see picture)... fresh eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes, homemade biscuits, homemade apple butter (to die for), fresh squeezed orange juice. It was a WONDERFUL, down to each little detail. The next morning we had another great breakfast... fresh eggs, sausage links, french toast w/ strawberries and bananas, walnuts and more fresh squeezed orange juice. Glenda also made us a sweet treat (individual chocolate lava cakes) that Steve delivered to us on Saturday afternoon. YUM! We had a memorable weekend in Fredericksburg... a wonderful place to stay, a great wine tour (290 Wine Shuttle), good food and laughs. I will come back and stay at this beautiful place again. Thank you Steve and Glenda for providing us the perfect home away from home for the weekend!
