The patio is shared with the other rental unit but we never saw our neighbors during our stay. There was also a hot tub with a privacy curtain. Even though you share the courtyard area you have your own private hot tub and the other unit also has one. The bed was very comfy and the shower had a massager head that made the water massage your back when showering. My husband loves that part. I would love to stay there again and would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Hostess is very accommodating and gracious. Bed is very comfortable, but it's rather tall for shorter folks and could use a step stool you could pull out for greater ease in climbing in bed :) Now, for issues that would make it not a 'return trip' for us: First Issue: When we rent a home,that includes a living room, kitchen & dining, we expect this home to offer 'complete' privacy. It was advertised as having a 'private courtyard', but not made obvious that there were two rental residents within the home that would share the same private courtyard area to include the hot tub . Yes, there was a wooden privacy fence around it, but having someone else within that privacy fence cancelled the 'private' part from my perspective. Fortunately, no other resident showed up during our visit, but the anticipation that someone else could pop in or we come home and find other people in the hot tub, made it uncomfortable for us. You would either have your privacy intruded upon, or you would feel you would be intruding on their privacy. Second issue that didn't appeal to us was the uncomfortable furniture where tv viewing was located. I understand that the hostess/owner wanted a certain furniture style, and it was charming, but so very uncomfortable for watching evening tv... Last issue that wouldn't have been a 'deal breaker' if the privacy issue and furniture issue wasn't there, and that would be there is NO wi-fi and NO dvd player. Yes, they have tons of channels to watch as we were reminded of when asking about a dvd player, but we had brought some awesome new movies we were looking forward to watching while vacationing and were unable to do so :( My issues may not necessarily be an issue for anyone else, but we were the ones paying the bill, so I like to get what I'm thinking that I'm paying for...that's all. After I discovered their site, the hubby and I decided to conference in a call. The phone was immediately answered by a very friendly lady named Carren. We told her our likes and dislikes and in under 5 minutes she suggested about a 1/2 dozen properties they book for (they have listings for over 200). After we reviewed the suggested properties, we certainly had a preference for which one we would like to stay at (the Fawkwerk Cottage at Haussegen Log Haus). Booked and done! And, I must add this was a last minute trip. We called about 2 days prior to our desired arrival date and Carren was more than eager to accommodate us. We loved the Cottage and our "hosts" (please see separate review) so much that we decided to stay an extra night. One call to Carren. Booked and done again! GREAT customer service from Carren and all of the other staff we interacted with! They were all so helpful, friendly, and a hoot to boot!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ALL OF YOUR TRAVEL NEEDS WHEN VISITING FREDERICKSBURG, TX!!! Have to add the following to the overall review: On the FCLRS website, they offer "Romance Packages" that you can add on to any lodging stay. A necessary explanation: There are 3 different package prices ranging from $39.95-$59.95 that offer a variety of items to enhance your stay; chocolates or roses perhaps...or Easy Cheese (Midnight Package) and 1-time use camera (in the Snuggle Package). hahaha! I certainly don't, but when I was doing research in preparation…read morefor a weekend trip to Fredericksburg, I found this website to be the most current and helpful when it came to finding a B & B in my price range. It seems like a lot of the B & B's in Fredericksburg require you to book through a reservation service, and that made me suspicious. The reservation company also charges a fee for providing their service on top of your room charge. No wonder I was suspicious: a pirate can smell money gettin' took from 264 miles away. However - this reservation service has some of the best customer service I've encountered in many, many moons. Aside from a good website, every time I called the employees were polite, friendly, and helpful. We arrived at the office after hours (about 3 hours past closing time) in order to pick up our room keys from a box in the front of their building. We happen to strike up a conversation with another B & Ber who was also picking up his keys about what might still be open in town. Even though the lights were off and the "closed" sign was hanging in the window, the manager and another employee happened to still be in the office and they opened up their door and waved us in. They proceeded to show us on the map where there were bars that were still open. They also gave us a list of wineries and were quick to point out there is a brewery in town. Anyone who opens up their business to point me to a bar has found themselves an eye-patch wearing, cutlass brandishing, new number 1 fan.

The location couldn't be better- it's directly on Main Street, which means you don't have to drive anywhere at all if you plan on spending the day doing a multitude of activities all up and down the street (shopping, visiting museums, eating, going to art galleries, tastings, etc.). There is a lovely wine bar with old warm charm and a grand piano right nextdoor, in fact. The decor in the room is simply stunning, with the most unique art pieces filling the space. The bright colors make it impossible for you to not be upbeat and cheery! The space was recently renovated as well, and all furniture and fixtures are top notch. There's a solid marble table, leather upholstered couch and dining chairs, a steel canopy bed, a stone double shower with a built in seat, a jacuzzi tub for two, a balcony overlooking main street, and a cable tv, to mention just a few of the amenities you'll find there. I was also surprised at how luxurious and comfortable the bed and linens were- I usually don't want to get completely under the covers when traveling, but that was not the case here! Most important to me, was the cleanliness of the entire space. My biggest drawback to traveling- even in supposedly upscale places- is that there's always something gross somewhere in the room or yellowing on the tub, etc, but we did not encounter that at all here. I couldn't believe how absolutely spotless everything was! Even the outdoor furniture was completely dust and pollen free and we could actually sit on the furniture and enjoy the balcony. I want to learn all their cleaning secrets and use them at home- I have no idea how they keep that patio so clean! The tub and shower were also immaculate. I noticed some previous reviewers' comments about the noise, but we didn't have any issues with this. We were there at a busy time, but the noise was nothing out of the ordinary to me. There's a white noise box in the room also to help those who might be a little more sensitive. My only regret is that we did not stay longer. I cannot say enough good things about this place!

It had top of the line appliances, Samsung TV, refrigerator, full kitchen with microwave, coffee pot with coffee, etc, snacks, comfy bedding, nice sitting area with a comfortable love seat and chair, a table and two chairs, the bathroom was nice, not big, but, supplied with all our needs, outside the front door was a concrete patio seating area with a table covered with an umbrella. We felt secluded and enjoyed every bit of time spent there! In fact, one night, we stayed in and watched Netflix. Also, access was very private. No noice that we heard. We couldn't have been more pleased. I would have liked breakfast to have been included, but we couldn't have everything, but had everything else.
