We really only heard traffic during the day, it was pretty quiet at night, and day traffic didn't bother us. We stayed in Winterberry, and we sat on the cute porch in the evening with citronella (my boyfriend is a mosquito magnet, lol) and lightning bugs. The bed was a little more firm than we were expecting, but we still slept fine. I should also preface that we sleep with a box fan on low for white noise. We were there during the week so there wasn't really any noise from other guests, only a few people were there. I will make note that you can see straight down into Winterberry from the door of the second floor cabin next door. We forgot to tell Debbie, the manager, about that, but it can easily be fixed with a simple window covering. There was no one in that room while we were there so it wasn't a big deal. Debbie was truly delightful, very sweet. She brought the biscuit basket we ordered for our final morning. The biscuits were really very good, they come in the cutest setup, with the biscuits sitting on a bread warmer. Great experience overall. If we vacation in Fredericksburg again, we will definitely stay here.

It's a beautifully decorated wine bar with plenty of space inside and out. They serve a variety of wines and they have great service. There are spaces outdoors for exploring or just sitting enjoying the view. In addition to the main wine bar, they have a separate building that is a cigar bar with indoor and outdoor seating as well. I think it's safe to say the there is something for everyone at Blumenthal Farms.

They also have a smaller barn bar with a girly interior. Don't miss the chambongs if your group loves champagne! We did a 5-course wine tasting as part of our wine tour with Brooke's Bubble Bus. All the wines were delightful -- my only complaint was that they cleared the table too quickly and I missed a course!

The bathroom lights flickered downstairs, the bathrooms had numerous moths or some type of flying winged insect in them, one downstair's bathroom had a wet floor by the toilet which may have been from a leaky toilet or pipes under the floor. The numerous flying insects were to me an indication that there was something wrong underneath the surface. The flying insects were seen day and night.

Think about an olden house with modern amenities like fridge, hot tub, TV, microwave, and electric fireplace. Thankfully, I didn't even have to churn my own butter. Just a few miles off the strip we arrived at the barn. One of four options when staying at the farm. Makes no sense to even beat around the bush, the goats, nearby donkeys, and the deer....WE LOVE THIS PLACE! Provided breakfast food from Lupe included casserole style muffins with sausage, eggs, cheese, and hash browns. Next days breakfast was similar with ham, eggs, and cheese muffins. Both served with sour cream, Serrano based red salsa, and fresh fruit from the local HEB. Nothing like strawberries and cantaloupe with a pinch of table salt. Again, old school meets modern. I knew the salsa wasn't made by a German! Finally, we escape from our own personal ranch to get away from our extremely needy cats and child. What do you get as temporary residents of said property? Old Mouser Cats! The herd was 60% I'm not even gonna let me touch followed by a few tidbits of love and screaming into the door you just entered to settle down. PET ME NOW!!! Sweet creatures. Made this weekend perfect! Note the Yelp pics of the diverse movie selections for your viewing pleasure. Young Guns was still in the DVD player followed by the wife's selections of murder mystery...murder mystery...followed by the local forecast. This is a unique property with a collection of early homes. We stayed in the Kusenberger Log Cabin,…read morethe original 1847 homestead at the back of the acreage. Descriptions of the home and property, while technically accurate, are a bit incomplete. The log cabin is a smartly converted dog-run to include a functional bathroom in the center. Interesting primative elements have been saved, which makes the experience cool. What was missed in all descriptions was the low clearance doorways and beaming between rooms and in bathroom area. At 5'10", I was 5" too tall. Hubby at 6'4"... you get the picture. We lost count of head bumps. For safety reasons alone, this should be mentioned. There is mention of both a loft and fireplace in description, but those should now only be considered decorative original examples and not on the amenity list as something a guest would ever safely use. The local owner has chosen corporate management. While this insures marketing and more passive ownership, I feel it sacrifices the pride and upkeep that are found in personal hands-on management. Although the fresh fluffy towels are nice, the uniformed bed linens fall short. The white on white sheets and duvet are grossly out of character and sleep very hot due to the synthetic material blend. The shower curtain and liner are too long for the low height bathing area and should be hemmed up. (Liner is a bit yuk from being just too long.) A make-ready employee did not appear to have been utilized as dead bugs were in tub and sink. Home was also dark without porch light or interior light left on. The 35 whole property is showing signs of needing a grounds keeper. The free roaming sheep are doing their best and are very friendly, but are limited in their ability to be complete. I'm hoping that a capital investment of hiring a human crew is scheduled soon to address maintenance issues. This is a special property that should be saved for future generations to enjoy.
