My review is a little mixed. I have had Fowl Plays food before and had always been pleased with the food. Hence inviting them to partake in a work event. They were not charged to participate and pretty much had open land to sell as much as they could, even with our company purchasing food as well. Needless to say many thought the food was great, however, many of our clients and customers complained about the overall friendliness of the Fowl Play Staff and in some cases customers told us they were even rude to them. They packed up earlier then agreed and for the price, we would have hoped they would have stayed and accommodated the 2 or 3 remaining customers. I had the pulled chicken slider. One word...Excellent. First of all the chicken was delicious and the salad on the slider was crisp and had some delicious ranch dressing on it. But by far the best part of the slider was the sauce (which we now have at the house). I had the wings for the first time on Friday. Wigle whiskey was doing a tasting at The Wine Source in Hampden and we were able to try them there. Fabulous is what they are. Perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The sauce is so delicious you want to lick the plate. The quality of the chicken seemed to surpass any chicken wings I've ever had. I discovered the Fowl Play Food Truck, when it was parked outside of Comcast's building one day. I was hungry, so I gave it a try. I ordered 6 baldy wings and french fries. To my surprise the wings were meaty and finger licking good!! My food was packaged with the wings laying on top of my french fries. Normally, I don't like my food touching, BUT this was a good switch up. I ate my fries with the baldy sauce on them and they were delicious! The sauce really is to die for! We just started using food trucks at work today so everyone was real happy to see Foul Play Truck. However my entire group was disappointed with the food as far as quality, timeline, price, and just eatabilty. I purchased a pulled chicken bbq sandwich with two sides. The sides tasted store bought and were small portions which in this case was fine. The chicken sandwich was half chicken skin fat, cartilage, and a couple of real bones. The good part about the experience is I think some people in my group had a short day at work, the bad part was because I think they got sick. Good day, Today, Wednesday 9/16/15, Fowl Play Food Truck came to my organization. At approximately 12:45 PM, I ordered from the lady in the front of the truck who informed me that, despite the fact that the event runs from 11 AM - 2 PM (and it currently only be 1.45 hours into the event), they were already all out of the Charles Street Chicken Sandwich. Note 1 - I was a bit disappointed that so soon into the event I had to settle for something else. In addition, I browsed their menu Online before ordering from the truck and found that the prices started at $10 - $12 per menu item (with 1 side included) but when I ordered outside today, my $10 only included only the sandwich, itself. Note 2 - I already thought their prices were a bit high compared to the neighborhood, and given that they were a food truck without a restaurant's overhead... But no I had to pay $12 instead of $10, higher prices than what was shown Online. Yes, I realize this was a fundraiser for my organization and that 10% of profits are redistributed, but that should be coming from they restaurant, for marketing and advertising purposes... not the customer. Note 3- When finally sitting down to eat my lunch, I opened my plastic container to find a very small/meager amount of food, especially for paying $12 for a sandwich and side item. On the flip side, the food was delicious (I had the grilled chicken sandwich with a side of cole slaw). Overall, I am pretty disappointed in the shortsight on having sufficient food items in stock at such an early time of the event, the high prices asked for the sub-industry the restaurant is in, and the lack of food for what you pay. Again, the food was good but not worth all of the displeasure I experienced from the aforementioned reasoning. ______________________________________ I just received a response from the company to my letter and they said the following: Good Afternoon, I apologize for your disappointment but there were a few things they you may have overlooked that may put your mind at ease. Note 1- We did not serve the Charles St sandwich at all today. Our menu online to the bottom right states that prices may vary from street prices. That menu is primarily there to give out patrons an idea of the various items we carry. We are running our a la carte menu all summer which is what you saw today. (Note: this was NEVER mentioned anywhere on the company's Website or in any marketing materials that the company was NOT providing everything, or excluding any items) You are correct it was a fundraiser and with that being said we did not charge your company the normal booking fee associated with bringing our truck out in addition to keeping the prices consistent. I think we did a very good job at being fair and providing you all with speedy, and friendly service. (WHY would Fowl Play charge a booking fee? In contrast, our organization allowed Fowl Play to come unto our organization's property and should have instead charged them to be allowed to solicit our organization's employees). (Also, side note - their booking fee is not my problem. I, as a customer, only know that I was charged more money for less food). I am very sorry that you were not satisfied with your service size but ecstatic that you enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Fowl Play Food Truck offers a pleasing diversion from regular lunch fare. The day I visited they offered several different chicken sandwiches, most shredded including a cheesesteak. I ordered a Charles Street Chicken Sandwich, which had tender pulled chicken that had been grilled nicely, and covered with onions, cheese, and some Old Bay I think. There were no descriptions on the chalkboard and there was such a line I did not bother asking. The chicken was good, albeit served on a cheap white hamburger bun, the perfect thing to absorb sauce from a hot sandwich and the kind that will always be messy to eat because it turns into a sticky grease-filled sponge. It came with one side, in this case store-bought French Fries. There is some good cooking going on here, but only where the main ingredients are concerned. Whenever I happen to be in the office and they are parked outside I make an effort to get down there and order something.
