This is a traditional UK Pub. Except there is no stale beer smell....Which is the way I want it. This is a wonderful place, the service is warm, and friendly, the decor is traditional. Through a random conversation, we three discovered that we all liked dipping our fries into mayo, and we instantly hankered for fries and mayo. Trust our excitement of finding that Fox & Hounds served fries nearby. We ended up sharing ribs, a Philly cheesesteak, wings, and, of course, fries. Everything was delicious, the service was excellent, and the place had a classic pub feel while keeping it fun. We compared it to Bordeus, but they closed their Abbotsford location. This was the first time for all of us, one of whom is a local, and we all agreed this is the best place for this type of food in the area. It looked like they also host live music and karaoke events. well been there a few times first time everything was great. went back a few weeks later on a Sunday afternoon was busy but not that busy service was very slow, coke was spilled all over the table when the lady put my drink down, we got thrown some napkins to clean it ourselves. left all sticky we coved to a table next to us since they didn't clean ours properly. waited a couple months and went back again and my lady ordered a soup, not to busy again and took 25 mins to get our meal, chicken strips were good but the lady came back said all we have is these soups and not to one I told you we had. very slow service and I stood by the bar for 5 or so mins to finally pay for the meal. don't think we will be going back..... unfortunately read more

Read the reviews and there really wasn't anything bad about the food so we decided to try it. We were acknowledged as soon as we walked in and quickly were seated. The ambiance was like a British pub with old style deco and seating but had different spaces to seat guests. The waitress was pleasant enough but not overly friendly especially as it seemed because we were not drinking alcohol. Then felt a bit rushed to order, not sure why as it wasn't busy at all but it did pick up somewhat as the afternoon progressed. My partner had the clubhouse with fries and I choose the Doorkeeper Burger with no cheese or tomato. Right after ordering, the waitress brought us cutlery and she dropped one set just about hitting my arm! She half heartedly apologized with a laugh. Not very kool at all kind of rude actually. Then 15-20 minutes later the food arrived and we dug in. First impression I couldn't figure out why my homemade bacon, grilled onions and mushroom burger had zero liquid dripping. I would think it was going to be juicy and a bit messy as I usually need to ask for extra napkins. In fact it was dry and I could barely taste anything, it was a bland burger. I could see there was a bit of mayo and perhaps a teeny tiny hint of some other condiment slathered on. I can't do spicy nor overpowering flavour but come on, some flavour, any flavour would've been better. If I liked ketchup on my burger I probably would've went for that but I dipped it into the gravy instead. At one point I dissected it to see if there were other flavours ... the bacon was good, onions lacked and so did mushrooms. Perhaps they were sautéed in grease instead of butter? Not sure but the burger meat definitely needed some salt and pepper at the very least. The fries were ok, not great, not terrible. I had a bite of the clubhouse and it was a bit better than the burger but again tasted dry too. Have to say the best thing was the gravy, might have been kicked up a notch with wine but at least it was flavourful. After looking closer at the pictures, I could see mustard but sure couldn't taste any. We are not sure if we would go back there, maybe for a drink or dessert but definitely not for the food when there are much better places to dine. read more

Well the number 1 important ingredient of any pub is....is the beer cold? And yes my draft Stella was a very nice cold. Not Brazilian ice cold (they like their beer just at the point of freezing) but very acceptable and refreshing. They have a number of beers including Guinness and Strongbow on tap. I ordered the Nibbler sampler. The order did not take long to arrive. It was a nice looking plate. The wings were good, the veggie sticks crisp, the deep fried zucchini ok, the potato chips (not fries) were a let down but the battered bacon strips I found tasteless and nothing but batter. The bacon needs to be thicker in order to overcome all of the batter surrounding it. The interior was rustic and exactly what you would expect from a pub called the Fox and Hound. I think this is a great neighborhood pub and probably is a lively place most evenings. I was their for a late lunch so I got to what TSN on the big screen. I like it. First time here. Very Tudor inside, which is very charming. Food is great, I had calamari with a Cesar salad. Very tasty, and the calamari was not rubbery at all. Good seasoning. Salad came with plenty of parmesan cheese on top with fresh croutons. My husband had poutine with roast beef on top. I am not a poutine fan, so I didn't try it, but he said he liked it. DJ music by Peter on this Friday night. Looks like they have Friday night specials with food and drink, as well as open for breakfast with free coffee. Great find here in Aldergrove! read more

Was not there at a busy time of day, sandwich was warm and fries were limp and not at all tasty and fresh, it was like they had been under a sun lamp going at half power. Waitress was slow and getting refills was an exercise in patience. Prices were a little high but if the food had been good it would have been worth it. First time there. No need to go back - went there for a special occasion and left with the impression that most other places in the area would have been a far better choice, even the Tim Hortons next door would have been a lot more desirable and enjoyable than this. Used to be awesome. A few months ago we went in to celebrate, waitress forgot we exsisted, kitchen allegedly burned our food so they had to remake it. Took over an hour. Stayed away a while. Went back last night, think the waitress again forgot our order, we waited 40 mins for a pizza, then she came and said they dropped our pizza and were making a new one. So, over an hour waiting for a pizza. No offer of cutting the bill or a comp drink, our waitress went home and a new one arrived. Place is going downhill. Oh yeah, pizza was all cheese, hardly any toppings served on a kitchen plate so everything slid to the center of the pizza. Terrible experience. read more

Went for work lunch lunch worst service, took 15 minutes just the see a waitress. Order was messed up (wrong order) asked to take off my bill. was assured that that would be done. Then a few minutes later they bring me another order (not what I asked for) my lunch is almost over, I took one bite the food was ice cold I am guessing it was something that was laying around as another wrong order. I started coming to this bar earlier this year, they have really good food. They have a restaurant side as well so you can bring the kids to enjoy the good food! Good breakfast as well. Weekends at night are really busy and they serve food late which is awesome. Busy spot in Aldergrove! Speedy service once you find yourself a table. Good food, we enjoyed the Sheppard's pie with salad, chicken burger with mushrooms and Swiss and the beers on tap. All the food coming from the kitchen looked delicious. It was wing night and plate after plate were piled high with those. Get here early to beat the crowds. It is an ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE that you guys continue to stay open. I hope you understand that if it was not for the staff you have working the front of the house being such incredible people, this place would NEVER be busy. It's ONLY because your staff are amazing, hard working and friendly individuals that people even step foot through those doors because you officially have NOTHING else to offer your patrons. Every Single takeout order we have ever placed is WRONG, missing part of the order, under cooked, over cooked OR if it's chicken wings, GUESS WHAT?!? THEY STILL HAVE FEATHERS ON THEM! What's worse, is that the feather issue has been ongoing for years and IT IS GROSS! This is beyond irritating not to mention absolutely disgusting. As people who own a pub, can you honestly tell me that YOU would consider PLUCKING your chicken wings and still find them Appetizing?! The last takeout order we had that came complete with feathered wings was reimbursed to us in the form of Fox bucks which we used tonight to place yet another take out order. This time we opted for Chicken Strips. My husband brings home the order and guess what?! THEY ARE BURNT!!!! HOW THE HECK DO YOU EVEN BURN CHICKEN STRIPS!??!? The Greek salad dressing we ordered, ALL OIL! The only thing that is edible is the clam chowder. I have never been so angry. You guys already nickle and dime the heck out of your regular customers, charging absurd amounts for any extra dips, and you make sure you ring EVERY SINGLE ONE IN BECAUSE YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS' EXTRA .50 CENTS! The quality of the Food has plummeted drastically; Maybe you wouldn't have to cut so many corners if you would just ensure things happened right the first time!!!!! I drive by the Fox every weekend, I see how dead it is. Do you really think you can afford to lose anymore customers by letting your kitchen box up BURNT food to send out to people?! This is pathetic. You guys have lost so many customers in the past while because of this very same problem. My family and many of my friends have been loyal patrons of the Fox and Hounds for years. We have had many good times there in the past, but I cannot believe how this place has deteriorated, clearly the renovations were merely cosmetic. I hope that you start treating your staff with a great deal of respect and actually SHOW them that they are valued once in awhile, because they are the only reason this place can open it's doors every day and if you don't believe that, you're clearly in denial. I will be posting this review on every site I can find, you should be ashamed to run such a beautiful pub so poorly. We will go the extra mile to insure others don't make the same repetitive mistake that we have. read more

It was my first time here and I thought it was great! Food portions were large and everything was great and very hot. I had my toddler with me and I found it was a great place for him. They had lots of options for food and the bartender was so nice! He came over and gave my son some little presents including a cute fox keychain. It's very cozy. Will definitely be back!! read more

My absolute favourite place to come on a Saturday night, although it's usually super busy were almost always able to find a spot. The taco salad is bomb, and the servers are bang on- my drink never goes empty and the one server always remembers I don't eat meat, which is sweet. I took my sister-in law out for lunch today . The food and serve was great ! My only beef was when we went out to the patio enjoying a quite visit , a family of 3 small children showed up. I thought they had a family section near the main entrance . Needless to say , one child was acting up , so the parent gave him time out . That didn't work so good . The Fox is our favorite restaurant to go to in Aldergrove. Its super cozy inside, very English feeling which is nice compared to every other very generic restaurant you could choose to go to. The food is almost always good and if you arent happy they are happy to fix it or take it off. The owners also contribute alot to the community sports teams which most places arent too keen on doing these days! My family and friends are regulars and will continue to go back. read more

My husband and I just got back from vacation on the Island and didn't want it to end. I'm a brit and so when we saw this british pub on our way home, we thought why not extend our vacay and have lunch on the patio? We were seated outside and I brought with me my glass drinking bottle which contains filtered water as I do not like tap water or drink water when out. I've never, EVER, experienced in a restaurant (and we eat out a lot) what came next...The server first asked me if I wanted anything to drink. I said no thanks, I have my water. Hubby requested Ginger Ale. When server brought it to him, she informed me that she had been instructed by management to tell me I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO DRINK FROM MY WATER BOTTLE BECAUSE IT COULD CONTAIN SOMETHING ELSE AND I HAD TO DRINK THEIR WATER INSTEAD. I was totally gobsmacked. I said, "Sorry but I drink my own water and you can smell it if you like, there's no booze in there." Server said, "I don't need to smell it, that's the rules and I don't make them". We promptly left our table. I asked to speak to the manager, a young woman who obviously lacked any judgement at all, inexperienced in common sense and didn't give a flying F about the fact that she had just lost two very good customers who would have easily dropped $100. I told her we will never come back. We would have come back too if the food was good. But hey, F&H, you didn't just loose US as customers, you lost everyone we're going to talk to about this ridiculous "rule" you have. I mean...Talk about STUPID!!! OH AND I guess you turn a blind eye when customers want to smoke on the patio, as when we arrived, 2 men were out there doing just that and they even had an ashtray provided for them. I reckon you make up your own stupid rules as you go. We ordered Irish nachos,an appy that came an hour later, and 2 pizzas that were the special. Our appy came 30 seconds before pizzas. The one pizza was over done the other was ok. Never bothered to complain but when we asked for the bill we were rudely told the pizzas were for in house dining only,like anybody eats a hole pizza. But still we didn't complain. 10 minutes later finally came back to box things up and threaten us with charging full price on the pizzas.
