Very hipster and trendy space inside. They have a wonderful heated enclosed patio. They do have an outdoor patio but even that wasn't dog friendly. Not a fan of patios that don't allow dogs. They only allow service dogs but will still place you outside. Waffle fries were great but poutine was just ok as was the burger. Nothing to write home about. Fine place to meet for drinks but like most brewery or pub houses the food is just meh. Service was spotty. They regularly forgot things we asked for. We were locked on the patio and even the servers kept getting locked out and we'd have to bang on the glass. Such a weird vibe. read more

I kept hearing about this place and finally made it in to check it out! We were searching for the best patio in South Surrey. This place is huge! They have multiple patios and a large inside seating area and bar. Make sure to check out the bookshelf wall in the back near the bathrooms if you're a book lover! We had hot wings to start, and then for the main course we had the Steak with Caesar salad and the Prosciutto and Arugula Pizza, adding wild mushrooms. Everything was great! It's one of the best restaurant Caesar salads I've had in a while. My companion and I shared the steak and salad and they split it up so nicely for us. Great service! Our server was friendly and attentive. Patio was lovely. I wish they had blue cheese dip for the wings! I had come to this restaurant with my family for lunch. The only qualm that I had with our daddy experience is that they put us at a booth that was still dirty. we asked to get a cloth to clean it up and then all was fine. We had a trainee server who was nice, but could use some refinement and that will come with time and exposure of the menu and getting orders from customers. The one thing that I really want to highlight is that we were sharing meals as we had a lot of seniors in my group - and they very kindly had the kitchen split the plate already instead of us having to ask for an extra plate and halving it ourselves. That was great and the portions were perfect for my party. The downside of this restaurant is that it is located upstairs, but there are stairs or elevator that you can take. And the booths are all one step up so if you do have some mobility issues, it can be difficult to get into. They do have tables that are on the ground, but in terms of booth sizing it's a step up. The restaurant itself is quite huge as it expands into the back with what looks like a semi private area decorated kind of like a book nook. The bathrooms are nice, spacious and clean. read more

Not a great experience! Not a fan of their staff at this location. But their food was okay. Giving two stars for the food only. ZERO stars to the servers. We went and it was extremely crowded inside. We asked for a table. They told us they were full because of the games. The patio had tons of empty tables. I said I see lots of tables available. Three wait staff started whispering something to each other, smirked and said "OK, we'll give you a table". We followed the waiter to the patio and she put us right in the corner, which was literally behind the doors and where the sun could've blinded us. I said it was too sunny and it was hurting my eyes. She replied "if you don't take it you'll have to wait 2-3 hours". We are both working professionals and had a long week and were both hungry, so we decided to just sit down, eat and get out! And that's exactly what we did. There was no sense of community or belonging; just a plain transactional experience. What a weird place to expect a nice dining experience LOL We'll never go back to this location. We've been to others and they've been pretty good! We stopped by for brunch over the weekend. We were the first to arrive at 10am. The restaurant was quiet and we were seated quickly. We ordered the croque madame, the double bacon benny with tots, a side of sourdough and bacon and a spicy tropical spritz. Everything arrived fairly quickly as we were the only customers. Drink was refreshing with the pineapple, lime, passion fruit and soda mix. The croque madame was carb overload. I did not realize it was going to be a sandwich with an egg on top. I would have gotten a side salad instead of the Yukon gold potatoes. The potatoes were alright. I found it a bit on the greasy side. The sandwich was great. I would reorder again as bread soaked with sauce and egg are a tasty combination. The benny was made well. Egg was medium poached and there was a good amount of hollandaise sauce. The tots were more enjoyable than the Yukon gold potatoes. Service was fantastic as we were the only customers. I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant itself. I gave it 1 star because there's no -50 option. Food took almost 2hrs to come and it had been under the lamps so long that everything was dried up, dark brown and crunchy. Food and atomsphere is nice. I would really like to come here more often but a common theme I find is the lackluster service. From the minute you walk in you are greeted by a hostess who seems like she doesn't want to be there. When you finally get a table, you are stuck waiting and often times you have to try and flag your server down when you need something besides your initial order. Came in as a three top during a late dinner service; pleasant greeting, nice atmosphere and periodic visits from our server. Had a wonderful time, the prices are exceptionally great considering the generous portion sizes. Our only hiccup was a longer than usual wait time for food, as well as my own entree not available after already having two other mains brought. HOWEVER, given their second night of service we expected some learning curves and speed bumps, and I was accommodated with a main meal on the house, which was fantastic; along with the other two mains. Dough on the pizza is a touch too floury on the bottom, but otherwise the steak was cooked to perfection, our appetizers were phenomenal, and the desserts truly were the cherry on top. Experienced issues from making the reservation to paying the bills... Unsure if staff was just very inexperienced or what the issue was. For example, daughter ordered pasta and asked for a side of prawns (~$6 upcharge) and no tomatoes. Came with tomatoes and no prawns. Told server and she went back to kitchen. in the meantime, another person at our table realized her salad had prawns on it (doesn't come with prawns so figure they were put in the wrong food), but as she is allergic to seafood gave a couple of the prawns to my daughter so she could start eating, while we waited for the server to come back. the server came back and asked my daughter "to double check there were no prawns on her pasta" because the kitchen said they made them, of course her pasta now had a couple prawns from the other person's order so we explained that, which apparently was hard to d, and the server took the salad away to have it remade (with the remaining prawns that were supposed to be my daughters) it the. took 20 min for them to bring a new salad and people were already done their food by that time. Another person's order also arrived with ingredients that they requested not be on it. Half the people's food was good and about half the people said their's didn't have much taste. I don't know if other people had issues. Food and drinks came out randomly, with long gaps inbetween, a couple at a time. eg 3 people ordered high balls and only 1 came then the other 2, 10 min later. difficult to consistently have a drink or order more. Started to order multiple at a time, to try to compensate. The same exact drinks came garnished different each time and the ran out of limes, Had to remind/follow up with staff to get our drinks, so A couple people left before they got their bill and had someone else pay for them (pay back later) because they couldn't wait any longer for it to come. My bill had 4 drinks on it that I did not order (ordered by others) but as they had already left, I ended up having to pay for them. Someone else ended up getting 2 separate bills because they missed charging a drink on the first one. Everything just seemed extremely disorganized and confusing to the staff. They addressed our concerns by providing a free drink coupon for a future visit... don't usually like to complain but so many people at the table were unhappy, and I have the impression I am the least unhappy of them all. This post is going to be a novel lol. I just needed to explain the whole situation as i find it ridiculous. I copy and pasted this review from what I wrote on Google a few days ago. I actually made a Gmail account just to write this review. I frequent many restaurants in the South Surrey area, 2-3 times a week as it's a way for my friends and I to socialize have dinner and get a few drinks. With that being said I have NEVER written a bad review on a restaurant before. Don't get me wrong I've had many iffy restaurant experiences before, but have never felt the need to write a negative review, I used to be a server so I understand majority of the time when things go wrong it's okay, things happen, we're all human. Recently I have been experiencing health issues that requires me to eat a certain diet of foods. For reference this isn't an allergy, I understand in restaurants cross contamination happens. For me my issue is that I need to eat relatively clean foods if I want to avoid being sick, so chicken and rice is always a safe bet. Now this is where the issue with Tap and Barrel starts, I asked for a side of rice and a side of chicken and was flat out told no I "wasn't allowed to order that". Which shocked me, never at a restaurant have I been told I was not "allowed" to order something. She was treating me like a was some child. She then goes on to explain to me that management does not allow customers to "create their own meal" and that people do it as a loophole to get a cheap meal. She tells I can get the ranchero bowl with only chicken and rice, then I thought I'd try the salsa on it as well as tomatoes shouldn't be an issue (when I originally asked for the side of chicken and rice I didn't want a side sauce I only wanted the chicken and rice.) The bowl arrives with my 3 ingredients and the rice is inedible, I would compare it to the consistency and taste of porridge or oatmeal. The most disgusting rice I have ever had, and the chicken was overall just dry. Because of this I had 2 of the slices from the chicken breast but I didn't want to just eat plain chicken so I actually ended up leaving the entire bowl of food and at the end of the meal they just took it away for me. I never complain when my meal is bad but I'm complaining today because I paid $22 for it, was overcharged for what I ordered, and left the ENTIRE meal on my plate and was not asked by anyone if there was anything they could do to help. 1 chicken breast, side rice, and 2 tablespoons of salsa cost me $22. I am not one to complain about cost typically as I understand that's what it costs to go out and I typically spend around $45-90 when I eat out as I get a meal and drinks.I just don't think I should have to pay for an entire entrée when I've taken out most of the ingredients, I saw a side chicken breast is $6 and rice shouldn't cost more than chicken I paid $22 for what should have been $10. I understand she said people do it as a "cheap loophole" but I'm doing it because that's literally all I can eat, also why should I pay for a bowl full of ingredients if I only want chicken and rice. My bill was just under $40 as I only got 1 drink because I was so annoyed at what had happened I didn't want to give tap and barrel anymore business, I did end up tipping the server 22% on the meal as I realize it's not her fault and she should not suffer just because she works for a bad company. I will NEVER come back here, absolute lack of customer service and horrible food. Earls and Cactus Club only from now on! I wrote this same review on Google but ran out of words so this is an Addition here on yelp: They have no accommodation for dietary restrictions. I understand a restaurant cannot cater to all customers dietary restrictions or allergies. I even told her they could do 2 separate plates to alleviate kitchen stress of having to make it a "bowl" . Even then she told me I was not allowed to do that and if I did she would get in tons of trouble and management would come over and talk to me. I find it weird management would be so confrontational over something like that, I was treated like a 10 year old that was going to be reprimanded. when I explained to her that I have a bad stomach and plain lettuce with a vinaigrette is getting boring so today I wanted to opt for chicken and rice and that's why I wanted to order that. i want to follow up on a bad review from june the 4th. we are a large medical office. a larger pharmaceutical company astrazeneca caters food to us.. worst food i have ever had by delivery. so my colleague thought she would give them the benefit of the doubt and take her father out for father's day. the fish and chips were over cooked. so they re-did their meal and it came out under cooked. chicken wings had texture like over boiled no flavor chicken. pizza dough (rubberery texture), not enough toppings. chicken mac and cheese, the chicken was way over cooked to leather. i called to talk to the manager paige. she apologized. i said it wasn't enough to just respond to all reviews saying "sorry for your horrible experience" and state they will do better because they have not changed a thing. we have spent approx $1250.00 ordering food and have never been refunded or credited for any of this horrible food. she says she understands and she wiil get back to us the nexy day. she never followed up. i called two days later and asked to talk to her. the person that answered the call says she was not there or available. i asked when she would be in or available, she states i don't know and asked me why i wanted to talk to her. i stated regarding two bad meals. she says she did not know where she is and when she will be available then laughed. she spoke to some girl in the background i think was paige. the girl laughed with the other girl and said tell her im in a meeting. the other girl says i told her and laughed again. she got back on the phone with me and says she is in a meeting. i asked how long. she states how long it ever takes and laughed again. she then told the girl in the background "i told her you were in a meeting" and laughed again. came back on the phone and says they did no know when she was going to available or when she will be in or back. this is called management. coincidentally, someone emailed my colleague and appologize and said they would like to offer her a few free appies. are you kidding me. i know the manager was there telling the employee to say while laughing at me. very poorly managed restaurant. i would like someone to contact me to talk re: poor management service and food. i would never go back to a restaurant where the staff and management laugh and make fun of you. i gave manager paige my number. please rectify this situation. i will reach out via social media and email all large pharmaceutical and medical companies to never enter your establishment or order from you. for us large companies, it's not about the money but my colleagues, family and young son paid out of pocket - and they deserve a 100% refund. don't care about the $750. but the $500 should be refunded to the family. not a few appies read more
