I have four animals (2 dogs and 2 cats) and Fox Nest has seen us through a lot. From puppy check-ups to spaying to comprehensive care when one of my dogs was hit by a car and one of my cats became ill they provided compassionate care and took the time to explain all the options regarding treatment. They provide boarding and grooming services as well and my animals were on a first name basis with everyone. :) Most impressive is that they provide a no-kill shelter and are active in finding new homes for animals as well as providing affordable spaying and neutering to reduce the number of displaced animals. When Dr.Ross was the main vet, he and staff were nothing short of wonderful to my dogs and friends and family's as well. The new owners and their practices were cold,less friendly, MORE EXPENSIVE and less helpful,less informative. Never saw the doctor, only heard news from assistants. My dogs health was deteriorating and we searched for better, kinder,more personal care. Thought we had a great replacement at much reduced pricing with Mt View vets. That was short lived. Now I am about to lose another dog in 3 months. Ask more questions and when the answers seen questionable, ask more or take your loved one elsewhere. The pain of loss before they're even gone is agonizing. Comforting them while sill alive is agonizing. The many years of mutual love,although unconditional on the pet's part, don't seem worth it right now. I don't know if I'll ever be able to have another pet again. I reached out to a Vet who can euthanize at home, he wants $400. Says he can't adjust prices because he's a small business. Small businesses can adjust ,in many circumstances. I had a business for 20 years. Some people paid full price,others were accommodated to assist what they needed or wanted. I won't name this last guy. I don't want his name out anywhere. Signed while crying over having to wait to bring my sweet girl in to be terminated, then come home to bury her next to her sister I buried in April. When I first started with this Vet my autistic sons service dog got Parvo. Every vet I called I needed to pay $ up front daily coming to over $1500 over 7-10 days & if payment wasn't made treatment would stop. I have initial $250 of $375 due on day 1 to start at Oconee Animal Hospital. I was told I had to come back before close with bal but they would at least start his meds. The balance needed was to cover the overnight stay for day 1 . When I couldn't get a loan & didn't have any further funds for another week got paid 2x month I was devastated my dog would be sent home to die. 85% recovery staying at Vet & only 15-20% w/home care. My daughter called & told me Foxnest would take him for $100 down & what ever I could afford w/monthly payments w/debit card kept on file to be charged for same amnt on same day every month. He was there 5 days & total bill was under $500. When I went to pick up our dog to take him to FoxNest Oconee Animal Hospital wasnt going to release him unless I paid the bal of $125 due for the daily treatment. But he wasn't spending the night & had only been there a couple hours so no boarding fee etc. I explained I had a vet who was going to give care & work with what I could afford in payments but they persisted that he would not get further treatment & won't be released til paid. I had to threaten them with being buried in social media for letting a disabled 11yr old boys service dog die over $125 & I had nothing but time on my hands. He was released & FoxNest was an angel from heaven. But everything has changed over there with new owners. I went in with my other dog in Oct shortly after Hurricane Helene. His belly swollen. Not once did they go over any pricing before treating him then hit me with a $550 bill I had to pay in full at check out. I had to forgo the meds he desparately needed just to pay for office visit & all the testing. What good are testing him if I can't get the meds to treat it. I ended up getting just a few days supply what ever I had enough to pay for & held off treating him so when I started I could get the rest of the meds on payday & continue without missing days. But he suffered for days needlessly & it put me in a financial hardship that could of cost me my house due to I had to use my mortgage payment to cover it. The front desk people are great but as far as anything else it's all about money money money. No care or concern for the owners & not so much for the animals they treat either. Bottom dollar & over priced care is all u get from here now. Too bad they were the best underprevious owner. read more

The staff was too preoccupied to properly greet or speak to incoming clients. The dogs were taken away to another room without me for weights. The vet tech was very short with me and did not seem interested in what I had to tell her. The place was filthy. The floors were in desperate need of scrubbing. They were going to put my pups on a table that had hair and dander all over it from the previous patient. I felt completely disgusted with the treatment, the filth and the rude behavior of the staff. read more

Where do I start? I have taken all of my pets there since we moved from NJ to SC. Dr. Ross is such a caring compassionate vet who was always 100% correct with diagnosis and treatment provided. He has done everything from Puppy litter first check ups -- I breed Great Pyrenees, OFA Health tests, progesterone tests, dealing with a hookworm infestation that came from a boarding kennel, one of my girls had an abscess on the top of her head. Dr. Ross was packed full of appointments and stayed into the night to operate on our girl and saved her life. She was in the hospital for three nights. We expected a horrendous bill, but it was under $350. He also did an emergency cesection for a pregnant feral cat who was dumped on our property. Again for a very reasonable cost --- something under $300. Now as he got close to retiring and COVID came several vets left, and he was overwhelmed and it became more difficult to get an appointment. This year a husband/wife veterinarian team bought the business. I was so thankful that Dr. Forest Axson was a knowledgeable bird vet since I have chickens, pheasants, and Peafowl. However there are many major changes to the practice. The no kill rescue that Fox Nests has had forever is no longer there. They have so many rules and policies there that just boil down to money. Money, money, money. I was charged over $400 for my dying Peafowl who was there under half a day. Many charges are repetitive. I paid over $700 for a dewormer that costs $95 Through chewy. I know that is hard to believe but true. I have always paid my vet bills and they were very flexible about letting me wait a week or write a post dated check for a week or two. I have never written them a bad check or failed to pay my bill, but last week I wrote a check for services, and was called ten minutes after leaving to come back and give them cash or they would not ship out my dead peacock out for a necropsy. The first necropsy I had done on the first peahen that died I was told was normally $120 but because I was out of state it would be $375. We transported the hen ourselves to the UGA lab. When I asked him about the great Difference in cost between out of state and in state charges he looked confused and told me that there was very little cost difference. So I called Fox Nests to discuss this matter with the financial manager and was told that the added charge was so that the doctor would have to read it and go over it with me. I have also been told that I have to pay for my pets estimated costs before services are rendered. And they told me that that was an across the board policy change and that it wasn't personal. I have many tens of thousands of dollars invested in my animals. All I needed was a little help and understanding and was given absolutely NONE. Loyalty means nothing here. Furthermore the information that the vet gave to ClemsonUniversity on my peacock was incorrect. I wrote down every food and supplement that my bird had been fed which was game bird food, and the initial necropsy results say that this bird was fed chicken food which is absolutely not true. Additionally, the vet did not give me the proper name for a round worm that carry Protozoa that will kill the bird. He called it a "crop worm" which is something I could find no information on when searching for answers. In fact had I been given the proper name of the decal roundworm I would have immediately known that the bird was infected with a very deadly disease. 80% to 100% of Peafowl who catch this die. There was a three week delay in getting the proper name for the worm, and had I known 3 weeks before what the complete necropsy results were I could have treated them so they would not get this disease for which there are no approved treatment or cure. The topper is that the only antibiotic combination that Peafowl breeders have had some success using -- a combination of metronidazole and Baytril -- he told me that he could not prescribe them because technically they shouldn't and can't be given to "meat birds." A Peafowl is absolutely NOT a meat bird, and none of my peafowls would ever be eaten. These medicines are the only chance I have to save all 46 Peafowl that I have. Fortunately through networking and searching I have been able to get both of these antibiotics. But the delay in getting them may make all the difference whether they live or die. Loyalty means nothing here. The only positive thing I can say is that the front desk staff are friendly and helpful as are the vet techs. Do not take your pets here there are many good vets in the area who truly do care about the animal and the owner. This is the worst experience I have had in my 56 years. read more

I have been a loyal customer at Fox Nest for over 25 years. However, things have not been going so well this year. I can't blame it all on COVID-19. Though I understand each business faces challenges as a result of these crazy times. But when no one will answer the telephone the entire day during their regular business hours....that's just unacceptable. I've expressed my concerns about this to the office manager and to Dr. Ross. This is twice now where I've had an emergency where I absolutely needed them to see my puppy and could not get a hold of them. Once was after they did surgery on her and this time when she's broken her foot. I am finished with Fox Nest and will no longer recommend them.I hate to do this because Dr. Ross is an excellent veterinarian. But I need a clinic I can depend on. read more

I was bringing my dog here from the day I picked him up. Both of the vets are amazing and loved my baby. The issues are the vet techs. So rude! I can't even count the amount of time I watched about 6-7 techs hold my dog down AND MUZZLE him for a simple nail cut. I own a sweet loving, will not even kill a bug, pitbull, yet they treated him like he was a wild stray. I expressed my concerns when I brought my other dog there and they brought him back to me and his eyes were bugging out of his head along with his oxygen being cut off from those little cheap leashes they use. That was the last straw for me. It has been almost a year since I stopped coming here and I now take both of them to a vet that absolutely adores all animals, especially pitbulls. I don't worry about how they are treating them when they are not in my line of sight. Spend the money and go elsewhere...ESPECIALLY IF YOU OWN AN "AGRESSIVE BREED". read more

While we have been reluctant to see other vets at the practice - we have seen Dr. Audrey in two emergency situations and she has been wonderful, too. I brought my dog and cat to this location for a dental cleaning/exam special they had for the months of February and March. The front desk staff seemed to not really want to be there, and kind of moped around and had side conversations with each other. The tech who came out to greet me was friendly and informative. However, she promised a phone call after both pets got out of the surgery, and I did not get that. I had to call an hour before pickup to make sure everything went smoothly. My dog had some teeth extracted, and no one seemed to know how many were taken out, or which ones were taken out. The tech on the phone seemed a bit clueless as to what was going on when I inquired about both surgeries. When I picked up my pets, they were both happy and ready to go. I wish I could've gotten more details and paperwork on their surgeries and exams. I probably won't be back to this location unless they are having another dental special. They could definitely improve on all aspects of their customer care. read more

Phenomenal. I baby the hell out of my dog and these guys are amazing. If you get a yearly check up, they provide a free six month check up. The prices are slightly higher than other vets but the quality is completely worth it. They also provide one of the only no-kill shelters in the area. read more

Foxnest has an impressive website, but please do not let this vet preform any surgery on your pet. My family lost two pets due to this vet not using common sense. On the first occasion, after having my baby overnight and half the day he called me and told me that he would be fine and he was going to do minor surgery. I assumed he had done a through exam and x-rays before putting my little one under the knife. No x-ray was done. Within 10 minutes he called me back and as soon as I said hello he blurted : " Your baby is dead." He said, " When I rolled him over his rib punctured his lung." Now why did he not do a simple x-ray? Then after paying the entire bill, I was billed again. That's when I found out that the vet did not record the $100. that I gave to him when I brought my dog in. And the office did not record the final payment. So I overpaid $100.00 already. The other pet died because of infection from simple surgery while being in their care post op. They need to stick to adoptions and grooming. read more

We boarded our Cairn Terrier with Fox Nest for 9 days in February while we were out of town on business. I left a printed page of instructions on his medication, how it should be administered as well as feeding instructions and a specific supply of food, bones and dental chews. Upon our return, we were given the following items: 7 of the 10 pills (meaning that he may have been given 3 pills instead of 10), 4 of the 10 bones, 3 of the 10 dental chews and all of the cheese slices. We're unable to say, with any degree of certainty, that he actually received any of the missing items. As we were leaving, one of the female attendants told us that he had had diarrhea for the last two days, but the vet hadn't had a chance to look at him yet. We won't be using this place again. read more

I can't say enough good things about Fox Nest, Dr. Ross and all of the other wonderful people there. We run an animal rescue and are in there at least once a month, sometimes two and three times a week depending on what is going on. Everyone there is so kind and compassionate, if you have a problem they will immediately do everything possible to resolve the situation, and they don't treat you like a number. I have personally experienced their vets going in on Sundays and holidays to make sure our cats and dogs are doing well after surgery or severe illness, and when I have a question or a concern I can ask for a phone call and get one back from a vet very quickly. I would highly recommend Fox Nest to anyone that is in need of a good veterinarian or grooming salon! read more

My experience with Fox Nest was horrible first the receptionist seen with aptitude towards me!! which I did not like it made me feel bad, however I decided to continue with the appointment to have my beautiful cat spay second when the next person called me to go thru some questions she was not too friendly she looked like she did not like my cat. It was a red flag for me but they are close by my house I had an other appointment right after that so I did not think much about going to other place I had a busy day planned. However couple of hours later when I checked my phone some missed calls from the Vet, My precious cat perfectly healthy was dead, they said he died in surgery. it was horrible to pick up a beautiful cat dead when hours early I had trusted these people for something so normal as to have him fixed. I really wanted to share this experience with you so won't feel this disappointment and lost. read more
