Love this place. The Ruben is great. They marinate their own meat for the Reuben. The atmosphere is laid-back. The clientele is very good. It would not be very good for large group but 2 to 6 people would be fine. If you take your friends here they would be very pleased with the quality of food and relaxed atmosphere. However if you come on the weekends after 530 be prepared to either wait or have to go somewhere else as it's popular on weekends. read more

Nice clean location. It seems like it has a nice "local pub" vibe but we were there for dinner not drinks and the food was so so. The nacho were good but the burgers not so much. I had the bangers and mash and it was alright, my friend had a burger and she didn't finish it. We treated a friend to a carryout meal from here because she thought she liked it. I've tried to eat here before but the crowded tables, overwhelming noise, and bad food has kept me far away. Despite their cutesy menu spelling and food descriptions, this place isn't even remotely like a British "pub". Two of us had fish and chips. The fish was improperly cooked at the wrong temperature and smelled "fishy" right out of the styrofoam box. The "chips" were a flaccid greasy mess of several different sizes meaning some were burnt up shards and others laid there limp like the fish. The "tartar" sauce in the tiny plastic cup tasted like cheap mayo with a dash of some sort of flavoring. The "side" of coleslaw was served in the same sort of tiny plastic cup. I didn't even take the lid off that watery-looking tablespoon of a bad joke. We ate maybe a quarter of our food before it was tossed. This very expensive "meal" can't have cost Fox more than $5.00, including containers, but the last laugh must be with the suppliers. By the way, this place doesn't even supply you with plastic utensils or a small napkin along with your carryout. The sad and ironic part is that within a stone's throw or a short drive from this "pub", there are several good, quick food places and some of them are nearly one half the cost. None are as expensive. read more

Best experience I've had at a restaurant/bar in I don't even know how long. The food was great and reasonably priced. The beer and bar service was AWESOME. They don't have the standard domestic light beers, not on tap at least, which is great to see a place with unique character in a city like this. This is the pace to cone to for a great craft brew or full flavor session beer, or two or three or four... The atmosphere is very relaxed, comfortable, and casual, allowing you to enjoy conversation with your friends, other patrons, or the staff and Matt himself. Matt, the bartender and bar owner, really knows his stuff and is passionate about his place. He's a great guy just making a living in a business that's truly a reflection of himself. That aspect shows through in the whole place and is a great thing to see. I discovered the Fox during World Cup season this year. Having recently transplanted myself down to Peoria from Chicago, I was almost shocked to discover that there is a place like the Fox, an unashamedly soccer-centric pub that focuses on high-quality beer selections and classic pub fare. Even during the most packed games (I would say USA vs. Germany got pretty sardine-like), the staff can easily stay on top of your drink orders, and the food comes without any problem. Their fish and chips are excellent, and quite different from most places. A lot of fish and chips are lightly fried, with a flour-heavy batter. Here, they fry to a darker crisp, giving a great texture and crunch that works brilliantly with any number of their rotating handles of beer. Bangers and mash is also a solid option, if not the most enlightening dish. Simply put, they've got a great variety of beer selections, local and otherwise, and they've got the perfect food to go with it. read more

My husband and I went there on 3:27/21 for an early dinner. The waitress was friendly and attentive. My husband had a rueben and fries and I had a corned beef with cheddar on a bun with potato salad. My husband wanted to try this place out on their beer tasting night, which is the second Tuesday of the month. They have someone who comes around to each table and gives little beer samples from a rotating beer selection. It took a long time for the beer sampling to reach our table, but he was knowledgeable and generous with the beer. We also had dinner while we were here. It's standard pub fare. After reading some reviews, I was hopeful for trying out this place. Regrettably I was underwhelmed. While the service was good, and the beer selection was vast, the food was very disappointing. I got one of their burgers, and I would equate the taste to what you would get from a $7 pack of frozen patties at Walmart. The fries were good, but extremely salty. A genuine Brit's pub. This is our usual family dinner place so I've been here more times than I can count. It's always a hopping, bit rowdy place with great food and a long beer selection. Kicker was that by time I was finished, clearly no more than half the bites taken included any meat .. only lettuce. When I mentioned this to waitress she said sorry and would tell the cook. Went here for lunch with a crowd. There was already a brisk business when we got there. It's a nice place, really comfy chairs at some of the tables. I could sit a while with those! We had a variety of dishes, the curry fries were spicy and delish! Basically cheese fries but with a darker curry. No chunks of meat. There was a horseshoe, came out initially without the meat and when pointed out to the server was promptly loaded with steaming brisket. I'll have to have this myself to compare to D'Arcy horseshoe. Hamburgers and salads got good reviews. I had the fish and chips. I prefer a larger "chip". These are like Steak n Shake fries. But the fish was tasty, large portion. Fish, chips, beer, tip with a $20 bill for lunch. Going to try out the beer tasting and music nights, although I'm a little bored of Buskers. read more

Twenty seconds in microwave would have made a big difference. Fries were slightly above room temperature like they were under heat lamp too long. Sorry I stopped. I really wanted to like this place more, but our food was kinda hit or miss. We ordered the curry & chips which consisted of extremely good French fries & a spicy-sweet curry sauce. That & the tomato soup I ordered were a good start that got me excited for the rest of our food. The brisket was good & I liked the sweet BBQ sauce it came with, but I'm almost entirely certain that the chips & salsa we ordered as our side were store-bought chips & jarred salsa. Very disappointing. The chips I can kinda understand but how hard is it to throw salsa together in a food processor? The cottage pie was pretty good, the beef, peas, & onions had a nice flavor, but again, I'm almost entirely certain that the mashed potatoes were instant. I tasted that specific flavor that instant potatoes have on my first bite. I could be wrong, but I have a strong hankering. So basically, if you know the right things to order it has the potential to be a good meal, but I really feel like they're taking some unfortunate preparation shortcuts. I tried this place out a few days ago based on Yelp recommendations. I have to say I was not disappointed. I had a corned beef bap which was delicious. The people were all friendly and there was a local tap takeover going on which made for a nice fun atmosphere. I will definitely be going back. Great Guinness pour and good temp. For food, we got the fish and chips and Duke of Wellington. The fish was a large piece of Haddock that was flaky and perfect. The beef was cooked well and the bun toasted, which can make or break a sandwich. read more

Went here for lunch with a large group. They were very accommodating, gave us a large extended table setup. We received great service and they managed to get about 25 meals out to us in a reasonable time and at approximately the same time. I went here with a few friends last Saturday for a late lunch. Our waitress was awesome and knowledgeable on beer. I hear about this place on the radio, I had no idea this place even existed but I'm so glad I found it! The beer selection is the best I've seen in Peoria. Kelleher's is the only other place that comes close, but you cant beat server and bartender knowledge on beer and great customer service. I had the Duke of Wellington which was amazing slow cooked brisket with homemade horseradish sauce and home made fries. All of my friends also loved their food and I was very impressed that so much of it was homemade! even the bun! The waitress told us that there are free beer tastings on every second Tuesday and they also have other beer events and music. We will definitely be back! A+ read more
