This place definitely has its issues, but if they just put a little money and effort into some upgrades, this isn't a bad place at all. The location is perfect! You're right in the middle of everything, yet set back from the road, which is nice. The view out the window was beautiful. We got upgraded to a room with a little extra room with 2 twin beds, which came in handy when my hubby wanted to sleep but I was still up watching TV or reading. I just went into the other room. I actually like the 'retro' feel of this place. So sick of the cookie cutter, boring, cold feel of most hotels these days. That being said, I hope they put some care into this hotel. The sink and tub nozzles were near impossible to pull out! It was so hard to pull them out that anyone with arthritis would never be able to operate the bathroom sink and tub. The toilet was funky in that you had to hold the latch down for about 30 seconds to get it to flush. Very annoying. The indoor pool was pretty gross. There was like a black mold around the edges and you could see the dirt on the bottom .. my husband was excited to swim in the pool, but looked at it and said 'nope'!! Yeah, the parking lot is a bit far, and you have to unload and walk up stairs with all your stuff if you're on the 2nd floor, but it wasn't that big of a deal. The breakfast was good. And the price was reasonable. If you don't want to spend $350 a night for a hotel in N. Conway during ski season, this place is doable. We paid about $150 a night. This hotel is on 35 acres. It is close to many amenities. We stayed on the first floor which had nice views of the mountains. Parking was ample but can be a creepy at night since it's a little bit of a walk to the hotel (I always worry about bears lol). The room was average sized. It had a patio, mini fridge, tv, and the basics. There is a large indoor pool, mini golf, and playground. It is definitely a dated hotel, needs some upgrading. The rooms were pretty quiet. We were mainly out and about enjoying the area and this spot was a good family friendly budge hotel option. read more

Honestly the Mountain View's here are amazing and its location being close to everything but yet being far back enough to not hear traffic. Pet friendly, free breakfast, comfy bed. The hotel/resort is outdated and needs lots of work. The hotel entrance is unlocked which gives access to people who aren't staying here, which is dangerous if you don't lock your hotel room. The indoor pool hot tub was broken. Mini golf needs a paint job. I would stay here again for the comfy bed, free breakfast, kind staff, family and pet friendly atmosphere, price and location. I didn't like how the parking lot is far from the hotel. You have to walk up a hill and the sidewalks all broken and uneven (my daughter tripped). The fire pit was out of order also, which was disappointing. I would however stay here again definitely. read more

Stayed there from 3 of October left on 5 October, first off we got there and they had one handicap spot, which was so far away from the hotel itself. They had no close-up handicap spots at all, and I'm disabled and I need to have a handicap spot. The indoor pool was supposed to be heated and it cold And dirty. When flushing the bathroom toilet it always seems like it was going to overflow. They have no elevated to get from the ground level to the second floor so he struggled to get up to our. The only good thing about it was the was absolutely gorgeous from our window. We could see the mountains. We will not be going there again very disappointed. The rooms were so outdated. My family and I have been going here for years. Price is reasonable and family friendly. However they haven't updated anything in years and it the breakfast is the only good part lately. This last time was so bad though, we had dirty sewage water pouring thru the light fixture in the bathroom. When we went to the desk about it, he gave us a plunger and told us to check out the bathroom in the room on the floor above us. They wouldn't give us a new room or refund us any money. It was disgusting and the lack of help was disheartening. We got a general manager number but she won't return our calls. I'd suggest families start looking elsewhere. read more

The only thing good about this place was the breakfast which was decent. Parking was on lower parking lots and not well lit. Pool area had ceiling panels broken in several areas. Hot tub wasn't in operation. Pool, from what I could tell wasn't filtering at all. Outdoor pool towels were left over night and not picked up. No room service whatsoever. No replenishing of towels...you had to ask at the desk. Trash receptacles were overflowing. Shower was very dated. No charging receptacles in the rooms. Game room was disgustingly dirty. We went there because we needed a hotel to stay in between The one extra day that we were staying. You definitely get there, especially at night and you can't see anything because it is pitch dark. There is no lights really once you're up there. However, going at night probably makes sense because The outside of the place needs a lot of work and I would say they even the inside smells like musty and old. Staff is super friendly and I really liked that they offer breakfast even if it wasn't that great. My boys enjoyed the pool and they enjoyed the space that they have at the hotel which I didn't like the kind of old '90s feel just not the old '90s smell. Overall it is nice. 3 generations of my family enjoyed this place for years. Was up 6/21/2024 and horrified at the horrendous condition of the entire property. Front staff was lovely however upon driving up the driveway I knew it was going to be rough. Let the pictures speak for themselves. ABSOLUTELY NO MAINTENANCE here. All day during our week at your hotel we were with people that were big smokers .so of course we came back to the room smelling like smoke .who would dare to smoke in that room you have 2 smoke alarms in that room. We stayed from Sept 9th to the 16th room 219 . I don't understand all the terrible reviews in 2024. Yes this is a dated older former resort. we did not use the pools or the hot tub. The included breakfast was very good. Like every budget helpful stay post COVID, there is a staff shortage, so there is not going to be housekeeping every day unless you go after it. I honestly couldn't tell you why this place has anything less than a 4-star review overall. First off, let's go over some ground rules so we're all on the same page. This is a 3-star lodge. What does a 3-star rating for lodging entail? Comfortable lodging with decent amenities that also gives you the luxuries of a longer term stay like a pool, jacuzzi, etc. Now that we've gotten that sorted away let's get to the Nicky-pickies. You're wondering whether it's worth shelling out the big bucks for that week-long getaway in North Conway so you can take your kids to Storyland and Conway Scenic Railroad.. The answer is...YES! It's worth it! For a 3-star rated lodge, this gets 5 stars. What I liked? 1. The loft rooms were so fun for the kids in so many ways and I highly recommend them. Kids live for little things like that (ie hidden spaces,forts,etc) so shell out the extra dough and get them one. 2. Free Breakfast. It's a pretty decent continental breakfast. The hot food varies but one morning it was hash browns and bacon. Another morning it was pre-cooked omelettes and sausage Patties. In addition they have a (somewhat glitchy) pancake maker but hey...it works so chill out and wait the 5 minutes in line to get a few. Juices, coffee/tea, bagels/croissants, lots of cereals to choose from and little milk cartons. Little boxes to pack your food to go if you have lazy kids like I do. And I especially loved the little snacks you can take back to the room like Lorna dune cookies, granola bars, jello cups, packages brownies etc. They don't eyeball you either and everyone is very respectful not to take too much. All in all the breakfast was solid. 3. Decent indoor pool/jacuzzi. Besides the ubiquitous hair balls that seem to pop up around the pool (the filter spits them out? No clue), the pool is just fine. They give you towels to dry off with. 4. They replace your towels without hassle. Other motels will threaten to charge you if your towels numbers are off in the slightest but here, they trust you. I handed the front desk a bunch and then asked the laundry crew later for a bunch and they gave me a big arm full without making me itemize them for an even swap. I appreciate that because let's face it...we don't have time for that and I appreciate being treated like an adult who doesn't have time to steal run of the mill white towels from the local motel. 5. Easy check in and check out. Staff is hands off which I love. It's 3-star. You do you, they do them. If you need them, ask. Otherwise they're doing their thing. 6. Clean sheets, comforters and pillow cases. Clean rooms. AC worked great. The little side room attached gets a bit too toasty but they give you a fan and you can always leave the door open because the AC is right outside that door. 7. Incredibly close to everything. You forgot your razor at home? Your bathing suit? Flip flops? Coke? They have a Walmart right down the road in addition to a billion other shops at Settlers Green. So let Mom go shopping Dad, while you take the little ones to the pool. She deserves it ;-) What did I dislike? Not much. The other reviews will go on about the place needing to be updated but uhmmm no. They are trying to compare this place to a corporate-run Marriot or Hilton and you just cannot do that. It's not a fair comparison and they know it. It's a local place and not a bland, corporate entity. This lodge does a good job and they've stream-lined it pretty well. So yeah it's okay. It's not Uber-luxury but it's also not the Ritz. So be reasonable and also always Support local!m whenever you can. The last thing I will mention in the list of 'Cons' is really the Pink Elephant in the room and if the GM reads this, they already know what's coming: The infamous outdoor pool. It's murky and does not seem to get proper filtration. Not many people venture in because of it. I'd tell management to just shut it down completely or fix it. But either way they really need to commit to it because it's an eyesore. It is not a make or break for anyone's stay (I personally could care less because the indoor pool is fine) but it just needs to be attended to at some point, from one business owner to another. I know how people think and they can be incredibly petty so it's one less thing for them to bit*h about. Well that about sums it up. I tried to be as real and as honest as possible. The front desk attendant was able to help us but I would guess the next guest will have the same problem. I am the coach of a youth hockey team and we needed a place to stay for a local hockey tournament. I am so happy we found Fox Ridge! Right from the beginning of booking the group room block, the service was wonderful. At check-in, the couple working the front desk were a delight. They had great information on local restaurants and activities for the group. Very accommodating and extremely pleasant. The rooms are above average rooms for North Conway. It is a ski town with a lot of older ski resorts so sometimes you don't really know what you are walking into. However, Fox Ridge ownership has certainly maintained the property well. There is of course some wear but overall, very good. The rooms were very clean and of the 12 rooms we had booked, there was not one complaint. I would absolutely not hesitate to recommend the Fox Ridge to others and would certainly stay here again in the future. read more

I felt like we found a hidden gem in North Conway! We stayed in the family suite which was fantastic and had plenty of room for 4 of us. We had a beautiful view of the mountain and a great deck with a few chairs to enjoy the view. The hotel and rooms are outdated but clean and comfortable. Let's start by saying I've traveled all over the states and been in many hotels in different areas. This hotel ranks top #1 of the worst hotel I've stayed at. You are instantly greeted by a long steep drive way to the hotel that's full of pot-holes. Careful may loose a tire. Once you've checked in you would be pleasantly surprised nothing has been changed in this hotel since the 80's. Yes! They still use a metal mechanical key! If you loose it get ready to pay 50$ and there's only one key given :) The parking lot is across the hotel drive so get ready for some walking and fighting over parking during peak season. If you're parked near the door for over 5'minutes. The staff that's busy washing his car everyday will be sure to come up to you and yell at you for taking too long to unload. Remember he's either washing his car everyday or yelling at parked vehicles. No he doesn't fix anything as you will see in pictures because again he's busy while This place is crumbling. The ROOM, I would call this worse than a motel 6 in the projects. It's very outdated and nasty to say the least. Once you walk in you're instantly greeted with a damn smell of mold and mildew, the bed is original from 80's so goodbye to your back as your sleeping on springs like a trampoline. The AC unit doesn't help as it's so old and missing a knob. The small fridge fits perfectly with the decor of old wood vinyl just like an Oldsmobile station wagon. But yes the room is just your sleep experience. I'm sure you wouldn't want to be there too long. The pool, I mean the bacteria and living organisms invested body of water is overcrowded by everyone's kids. The tiny hot tub has a great black water finish. Trash is floating in the hot tub, try not to get pregnant as I've personally seen some questionable white stuff floating. If you ask for the staff to clean it a little, they come out with a broken handle and broken net trying to fish stuff out. That really won't do any justice. Oh if you thought you're bringing your kids to a family friendly resort well I'd look else where as the mini golf hasn't been repaired since it's been built. There are dangers of your kid getting hurt as all the wooden structures are rotted away held by a toothpick. The breakfast is nothing to look forward to as you wake up as the buffet items go really quick and are tasteless. By all means stay away from this horrible horrible horrible name of a hotel. That was my great 2 day = $350 experience at this luxury hotel. See the photos yourself, I've never been more prone to writing a review and documenting a hotel before. I stayed at the Fox Ridge Resort in August with my family and I thought it was great! The views of the mountains were breathtaking. The rooms were cute and cozy. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast was really good. The location of the resort was perfect. Everything was close by, shops, restaurants, etc...the pools were fun to swim in (although 9 feet is a little deep for my taste.) It was difficult to relax, worrying about my children ending up on the deep end. all things considered. This place was definitely a two thumbs up from my whole family! This resort was once beautiful 20 years ago! Now is it run down! Rooms are awful, terrible odor, outdated broken down beds and furniture. The outdoor pool was cracked and all the tiles were falling in the pool. My 6 year old grandson was picking them up off the bottom of the pool so other guests would not get hurt. PROS: customer service was extremely nice. They were kind and made us feel welcomed. The rooms were spacious, loved the concept of having two levels. CONS: our room was outdated and wasn't clean, the rugs felt like it haven't been vacuumed. Our toilet seat was dirty, luckily I brought my disinfecting wipes and cleaned it. Our bedsheets and comforter had stains, we ended up going to Walmart and brought our own. Our water pressure was soo low, we ended up filling a bucket w/ water to wash ourselves. My husband called the front desk twice on the first day regarding this issue (he ended up telling them to ignore the first call, but w/ the second call, they told him it was because the resort was overbooked). The second day, he showed one of the maintenance guy and he himself even said it shouldn't be that low. He mentioned he'll talk to the manager and before leaving for the day, my husband went to the front desk to complain about this issue (again). Came back later that night and nothing changed. Overall, I wouldn't book again. For the price I paid, definitely not worth it. I've stayed at better hotels for the same price around the same location. read more

Pictures must be from when they first opened. Stayed last weekend. First look was not impressive. The outside of the building is in need of serious attention! First room offered smelled horrible and the the bed skirts looked like they had never been washed and were torn. Second room was only slightly better smelling and the door looked like it had been kicked in at one point, as it was cracked and the dead bolt didn't work. Onto the third, which still had a slight smell and there blood spatters on the wall by the sink and stains on the walls in the bathroom. Would not recommend! read more

The ONLY positive thing I can say is that Matt at the desk was extremely professional and helpful. That is where it ends. The resort is shabby, the rooms were musty, and the furniture was old and broken. Our visit lasted only a few hours. We checked in, dropped our luggage and headed out to dinner. When we got back we started to get comfortable and relax and that is when we discovered what can only be described as bed bugs. That was it for us. We contacted the front desk and they offered to move us to another room, but we decided to leave. Luckily we were able to get a room elsewhere. If you had never been to the Fox Ridge Resort, and you stayed here today, you'd probably leave thinking that it was a very average motel. It's competitively priced, so if you were less than impressed, then you'd probably leave thinking "You get what you pay for." However, I have a history with the Fox Ridge Resort, and today I am very disappointed. If you stayed here before, even as recently as 2018, this is *not* the Fox Ridge Resort that you remember! They've discontinued all of the personal touches that made this an affordable North Conway destination resort for my family. I used to enjoy receiving an itinerary of kids activities when I checked in; but they discontinued that. They discontinued the itinerary because they discontinued all of the activities! Off the top of my head, here are some things that have been discontinued: 1. Smores at night over a bonfire. 2. Complimentary horse-drawn carriage around the property. 3. Concession/beer stand at the outdoor pool. 4. 3 PM popsicles for the kids at the outdoor pool. 5. Complimentary chocolate chip cookies in the early evening. 6. The *nicest* hostess at the complimentary breakfast; who ensured that all hungry patrons were seated. There is no hostess. It's a total free-for-all in the morning. It must be a madhouse when it's crowded. These "nice touches" distinguished the Fox Ridge Resort from other hotels, motels, and inns in the area. Now they are gone. So I cannot recommend the Fox Ridge Resort as anything more than a budget motel with indoor and outdoor pools, and free mini-golf. P.S. My motel room smelled musty this time. And the free continental breakfast was subpar because the coffee was awful and they didn't restock the bacon. The sausage patties were hockey pucks. read more

If you are just looking for a roof over your head to sleep at, this is the place for you! The hard spring beds are painful on the back. The televisions in the rooms are tiny and frankly out of date as is the rest of the furnishings in the room. The shower heads remind me of the kind you had as a child in the 90s. Beyond that, you will hear screaming children down the halls throughout your visit. The only positives to this hotel are location, SLIGHT mountain view and out of date frames with local pictures/scenery. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO RELAX OR FOR ANY PEACE! read more

The rooms are extremely dated. Beds are awful and saggy. They didn't even have skirts on the box spring. The carpet smelled of mildew and there was an unexplained wet spot near our table. The tub doesn't properly drain. There is no housekeeping. The free breakfast is just an assortment of junk food. The chain on our door was missing. And everything was just in I'll repair. The pools were gross you can't see more than 2 feet down in the indoor pool from the filth and chemicals. No drinks, the only option for drinks was out of vending machines of which none of them worked. The website and pictures were very deceitful. This place looks like it hasnt been touched since the 60's or 70s. The beds are are very uncomfortable. If you try to roll on your side you can here the springs fighting to not pop through the mattress. I mean its pretty decent of them to give you a great mattress to lay on after the uphill 5k you have to do from the parking lot. The bathrooms are hideous. The shower head looks like it lived through WW2. When you build up the courage to take a shower after that sweaty marathon from the car, the water trickles out with barely enough pressure to get shampoo off your hands. We decided to go out to the pool to see what that was about and to my surprise the concrete edge was chipped everywhere and had weeds growing between the pool outline and the concrete patio. It was also pretty cool that they had a couple of shuffleboard games right by the pool, makes it more challenging when you have to get the discs around the cracks and potholes in the cement. I pretty much assumed what i just got myself into when they handed me a room key that looked like it came from Alcatraz prison. I also forgot to mention there was 4 adults and 4 kids in the suite with a loft and a side bedroom with a queen bed. It was nice for everyone to share one 27in TV.. You would think the family suite would throw in another tv in one of the bedrooms. Ive read previous reviews that are over a year ago, the general manager replied to them all with plans to renovate... dont believe it!!!! read more

I don't like to give poor reviews but had to warn future customers of this place. The pictures displayed online are truly deceptive. The grounds here are so poorly kept and very dirty. Our room looked so outdated and dirty. The smell in the hallways was musty and almost smelled like wet dog. The rooms beds were horrible with sunken mattresses and lousy pillows. We saw dead bugs and litter on patios too. It was our anniversary weekend and this was probably one of the worst places we've ever stayed at. We thought it would be better based on the pics online and the good reviews. Whoever wrote those good reviews must have very low standards or got paid to say it. Awful. We just got here and wish we could leave. Thank god were only here for a night! The room is so musty. We asked for a room change very politely by the way and we're rudely told we can't change rooms. The service is terrible. Would not recommend. Update: We called again and another person was kind and changed our room. This one isn't musty but this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. It's 2am and all I can hear are the high pitched noises of the air conditioning in other rooms or other weird machines. I also have ear plugs in. It's so loud. Never again. I continue to be shocked by more and more things happening here, the grounds are a mess other then the front lawn, we found trash and cigarette butts everywhere, there were also stray undergarments, a pair of underwear out back , a womans nylon stocking in the garden near the parking lot we walked by everytime we went to and from car!! The antique keys they use fit in every door , that's scary!! We left today to go to do tourist type things and left our room locked , we have never had coffee in the coffee cups in the room, yet when we returned there was an coffee cup on our table with coffee in it!! That means someone was in our room while we were out!! There is no security in this place, we feel violated !! While at outdoor pool yesterday there was a wasp nest under the lounge chair, the stairs leading to the out door pool are dangerous, and the plants need to be cut back since they are loaded with bees and again that is dangerous!! The indoor pool was so cloudy you could not see the bottom or your own feet when in the water. The neighbors in the room next door had a dog who was poorly behaved and they allowed to bark often and early in the morning , they also continued to come on to our patio and steal our chairs and then they took the table as well , it's nutty!! The water pressure in the shower was awful and was hard to even get shampoo out of your hair, the water did not drain in tub. It is so concerning to have to worry about your safety or security in a hotel ( motel) I wish I had read all the awful reviews before booking, I hope that others do their research before wasting your money at this place!! The people staying in the room directly above us were jumping off furniture and slamming things on the ground, sounded as if they were going to come through the ceiling, when at 9:30 pm I called the front desk I was told by Mike that unfortunately there was nothing he could do because quiet time started at 11pm!! Insanity!! I have never stayed in a hotel with less consideration for guests, it's shocking that you keep such a close eye on customer reviews but not customer safety or satisfaction!! read more
