We have eaten here twice. Last year we had the braised short ribs and they were just about the best thing I've ever eaten. Perfectly tender and rich deep flavor. We recently had the Pecan Crusted Salmon which I really loved. Also the Bruschetta Chicken and Marsala Chicken. The chicken is so moist and has so much flavor. The mashed potatoes are seriously good! Sadly this historic hotel has been renovated removing all that was beautiful.The most beautiful structure with vintage carpeting and filled with antiques is now stripped away. The current look is modernized and nothing more than a road hotel . The porch rocking chairs overlooking the mountains still available.Dining room looks better than the former hard back chairs but the look isn't a part of history. This will be our last time here after 25 yrs as a guest.Yet another disappointment of late. One more comment no charging stations for devices .Rooms are still the same no upgrades but very comfortable beds . read more

It's a cozy inn with friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean & tidy, but the walls are thin. We had dinner and breakfast, both had a decent menu, dinner serving sizes were very small though. Game room featured a number of arcade games, a pool table (1$ per game), ping pong, vending machines and a microwave. They give a military discount. read more

I have frequented the Eagle Mountain House for several years. It has become a tradition for us to spend Valentine's Day there for dinner. Last year the food was not great, but we were told they had a new chef this year . I received an email with the menu several weeks in advance. We made our reservation and due to food allergies ", we went in to the restaurant THAT DAY to confirm the menu selections we had received were accurate. When we arrived the menu put in front of us was quite different. When I asked, the waiter told me I was mistaken. We left and I pulled up the website online, it was exactly the menu I had discussed that day. It's now 7:30 on Valentines Day and our dinner plans are out the window. I have called to speak with the manager 3 times and also sent an email. No response. Needless to say, for years we have patronized the Eagle Mountain House 2 times a week and have not been back since . We never received so much as an apology or return call. read more

I know Covid has put a dampen on employees attitude.. walked into a Empty Bar and was advised , All the Tables Reserved in Bar. @ 4:30? Reservations in a bar Really? Then after a friendly guest offered a seat next to her.. the Bartender quickly told Me, i could be seated at a table, but we'd have eat & drink right away ! Funny part she never hurried our Order or Drink Selection. after having our Drink & Appetizer.. bartender Wondered What else she get us on the Menu or More Drinks ? Huh? I thought we didn't have time ! Seeing the servers making drinks for the dining room.. really said it all and the fact no one claimed the reserved tables in the bar! We just got home from 3 nights at this beautiful historic hotel. We were able to X country in gorgeous fields right from the front door. And there are numerous ski mountains within 5 - 30 minutes away. Everyone one was so nice. The food was wonderful and the bartender and breakfast waiter were delightful. Stayed at the Eagle Mountain House this past weekend and had a really nice experience. First, as other's have mentioned, this is an aging mountain resort with history and charm and as such does show its age. There is peeling paint and pipes in the ceiling that have water stains and the carpets are a bit worn. But, there is an allure that overrides all of the minor aesthetic issues. Time seems to slow down a bit here and feels less rushed. You check in at a desk where countless others for years have checked in and receive a key (yes truly a real key) and can either walk up the stairs or take the 1920 elevator. We did not take the elevator as it was one of those where you have to close the door and such and a climb up a set of stairs does a body good, The halls are dimly lit and perhaps I envisioned two small twin girls in matching blue dresses beckoning me to stay forever and ever and ever. I jest but I did see online that there are couple of spirits that roam the third floor. I desperately wanted to check out the attic but "staff only" and maybe for the best. The rooms were comfortable and clean and offered faded memories of what once was (an old phone on the wall) and doors with glass door knobs. There is a restaurant on the first floor and a small bar and a nice place to grab a cocktail or appetizer after a long day of exploring the area. You can also grab a coffee or hot chocolate and sit out on the porch taking in the quiet and serenity of the New Hampshire woods and mountains. I would definitely visit again as there was something so nostalgic and calming about this hotel. If you are aghast at a little peeling paint or a bit go age, maybe this isn't the place for you but if you enjoy history and taking step back in time, maybe give this ole gal a chance. She may not be flashy and she may show her age but she has heart and history and I'll take that any day! read more

Charming hotel with a cozy bar and lounge and lobby. Grounds are beautiful, and views of the mountains are stunning. Just down the road from the hotel is a scenic area where you can walk along the rocks and view the mesmerizing waterfalls. Jackson Village is also within walking distance, which has some shops and restaurants. The food is pretty good and lots of options are offered both in the bar area and restaurant. The breakfast buffet was also decent with both hot and cold food items for $19.99 per person (great deal!). The staff was pleasant and accommodating. My three star rating is for a few things... The hotel needs some updating, including a newer elevator and more soundproof rooms. We could hear people talking in adjacent rooms, snoring, running water and hairdryers, etc. and the guests staying above us seemed as though they were going to fall through the ceiling when they walked. Quiet hours are not enforced, and the noisy floorboards and thin walls make it very hard to sleep. For this reason we will not be staying here again unfortunately. read more

Pros: free continent breakfast during the week had fresh croissants and muffins, a selection of yogurts and cereals, eggs and drinks that we all enjoyed. Fresh cookies are served from 4-7. Yummy! Garden area nicely kept. Things I did not expect: Place needs some maintenance (or coat of paint), dinning hall smelled funny, the noise from the window AC is not the most pleasant, and the service during dinner service is too slow. Definitely understaffed. Overall I would have given it two stars during normal times but I bumped up to three as a Covid concession. read more

Horrible experience. The guests above my room had stomped and jumped since 6 am in the morning. I called the lobby twice, but there was only one man and he said the only thing he could do was to call the room. He could not left since there was only him. Great property and service. We came to this hotel with a lot of luggage before we dropped our kids off at camp nearby. The manager Craig was wonderful. He went out of his way to help us and refused a tip. The property itself is wonderful with a feel of yesteryear, including an antique elevator. The property is very clean and well-maintained. First, a little context. We booked here for a great rate. We just needed a resting place while hiking around the Jackson area. This is a yo-yo review. Driving up, it is gorgeous - low verandah, beautiful New England style. And the setting is lovely. The lobby is rustic and full of great architectural detail. So far, a 5. And then the journey to the room, traveling down low, dark corridors with misters spraying crappy cinnamon-y stuff all over your clothing. And the room. Peeling wall paper, aged carpeting and a miss-mash of furniture. Redeeming qualities: good linens, comfortable mattress, competent housekeeping. Bath was a bit dated but more than adequate. In fact, it was surprisingly good, considering the quality of the room. The internet was spotty. Down to a 2. Service in the lounge and restaurant is hit or miss. But we were here in the off season and the staff was skeletal. But we liked it overall. Rumors off a renovation make it seem worth a re-try. And the ambiance of the verandah with a cold drink in hand brings the rating up to 3. If you are not ready for this level of rusticity give it a pass. But for Jackson, it is a good value and it is worth patronizing a grand dame of White Mt. lodges. read more

Just returned from a wedding weekend at the beautiful Eagle Mountain Hotel in Jackson, NH. My son and daughter-in-law booked their wedding in prime foliage season for obvious reasons. The hotel looked incredible upon arrival. The seasonal flowers, decorations and rocking chairs adorned the rustic porch making a beautiful sight as we arrived. The view from pretty much any part of the resort is breathtaking We held the rehearsal dinner at Eagle Mountain Friday night and chose the lobster/clam boil for approx 30 guests in attendance. The private room was the perfect size and the food was amazing. Everything was delicious, served hot and cooked to perfection. The chef at Eagle Mountain holds the #1 Chef in the White Mountains title, and she certainly lives up to it! Artie assisted us all weekend as our bartender, and he could NOT have been more accommodating or enjoyable. The next day and all through the planning of this special event, the general manager Brendan and Emilie Lariviere, event coordinator extraodinaire, were incredibly attentive, supportive and did any and everything to make sure the weekend was a complete success. The wedding went off without a hitch, and again, the food was served hot, timely, and was absolutely delicious. I honestly cannot say enough about the wonderful wedding and weekend experience and thank them sincerely. I highly recommend them for all of your function needs in the White Mountain area. read more

We stayed at Eagle Mountain Resort for 3 nights (June 3-6), reserving a 2 bedroom suite for a family of four. Reservations and check-in were easy enough and the resort is less than a 10 minute drive from Storyland, which is great. After a beautiful Saturday at Storyland, our two young boys were wiped out as we arrived back at the hotel just after 6 pm. We noticed a huge tent, like the ones they use for weddings, set up outside the front of the hotel where our room was and sure enough, at 7 pm, the reception music and DJ started up. It was so loud and close that we could hear every word of every song and the DJ yelling to get the crowd onto the dance floor. After an hour and a half of our kids crying, because they couldn't fall asleep with all of the noise, we called down to front desk to find out that the reception was scheduled to go until 10:30 pm! I understand that that's reasonable for a wedding reception, but when it's right outside your room and your whole family is exhausted, it's ridiculously late. After another 45 minutes, we were moved to another room -- literally taking just ourselves in our pajamas to another room, in the back of the hotel, where the noise was not as loud. In the morning, we came back to our original room to find that there had been a water leak in the shower in the room above us and our ceiling was literally peeling and flaking off onto the end of one of the beds. We were told that we would have to move to another room (again!). After several confused conversations with the front desk and manager about which rooms were available, they concluded that they didn't have any other 2 bedroom suites so we were given a single room with two beds and had to move ourselves and all of our things down a floor to the other end of the hotel into a room that was a third the size of our first room. The hotel manager, Brandon, was not in the night of the wedding reception nor the next day with the leak nor the next day when we were checking out. We did speak with him over the phone and he comped us one night -- the last one in the cheaper room we had to move to --and offered us a (non-transferable) coupon for 25% our next visit. After what amounted to $400 for one good night's sleep and two bad ones? There's no way we'll be back and if you're looking for a peaceful, uncomplicated stay, you should stay away, too! read more

We had dinner at Eagle Mountain house last evening. The meal started out well. My French Onion soup was great and my husband had a salad which was fine as well. I ordered prime rib for my entrée and my husband ordered mac & cheese with lobster. My prime rib was 30% fat it was startlingly unacceptable. My husband's mac & cheese was tasty but not at all creamy. We rounded out the meal with bread pudding which was excellent. Ironically I heard the woman at the next table make the same complaint about her prime rib being unacceptable. She was more intelligent than me , she actually rejected it and sent it back. The only reason I give this review even two stars is that the wait staff was great. With so many great restaurants in the area this place really needs to step up its game and fast. read more

We have been coming here for 7 years 3-4 times a year with our now 10 year old. I know there are nearby chain hotels that are predictable, and updated often, and have lots of amenities. We have been to several of those too. But we keep coming back to this Inn. For kids (and adults), there is nothing better than stepping out the door, slapping on XCskis, snowshoes, or grabbing a sled, and playing outdoors for hours. The game room is simple, maybe even a bit old school cool. The Inn lobby is just what you imagine with a library, fireplaces, and seating, perfect for reading, board games and puzzles. Nothing here is precious or perfect, some may even say it's a little worn but the tradition and history of this 130+ year old Inn make it a unique experience. We love the creaky wide stairs, the long porch with rockers, eating in the big dining room, and the antique elevator. We live in downtown Boston so we have access to new hotels and restaurants. But Eagle Mountain Inn has charm, so if you are looking for generic upscale hotel you might not appreciate this New England experience. read more

I am affirming the consensus on the poor quality of customer service. I encourage the reader to explore other travelers' experiences before committing to a stay... My regretted mistake.
