This may be long, apologies, it is thorough though. We moved in Aug 2016. The BAD: During the first few weeks of moving in, we had an issue with tiny roaches in our closet which was addressed within 3 days of the first incident (2 days after moving in) & a few days after the second (2 weeks later) in the form of traps - which we'd already put down ourselves. If you have a pest issue it is wisest to treat all resident units, not just one apartment. The office staff never returns phone calls unless you elevate the issue to the property manager & then you're lucky if they're pleasant with you as Stephanie wasn't, in my case. I opted to call Wayne back over her simply due to their dispositions on the voicemails left. Parking - I am off of work & home by 6pm, typically. I usually have great luck on the street in front of our building but sometimes I am out late, by myself or with my husband. Trying to park in any private lot after 930 is a nightmare for a few reasons. Here recently they took over half of the free parking spaces & made them reserved which isn't truly a problem as the lot behind our building was never desirable to park in in the first place. It is dimly lit, has tiny spaces, & groups of people hang out entirely too close to other vehicles, most often leaning on them & they are not theirs. My husband has had to walk out & ask them to get off our vehicle & I've called authorities as well when I was alone. I park at the shopping center lot across the street & walk home as it is well lit & feels much safer for a pregnant lady walking home alone at night. After the recent significant reduction in parking, I contacted Wayne to have the decal removed from my account because I never park in a lot & it is illegal to require payment for public street parking which is most of what's available at out building. If you don't know what is public & what is private, contact the City T&ES, they'll let you know. Utilities - there is absolutely NO reason our bill should be $120 for 580 sq feet. The apartments leak significantly as is evident by the stairwell being so cold when you enter (in summer) & there are no vents in it plus the "attic?" cover is often open. Often times the bedroom is 5 degrees warmer than the living area (in summer, opp in winter). The complex needs to invest more in updates to the units in terms of energy as well as the resident communal spaces. Most complexes have spaces residents can rent for parties or areas where the community holds events for the residents which this one does not. It would also be beneficial for the unused spaces (ie, tennis courts) to be turned into picnic spaces, fire pits, dog parks rather than stay useless space as is evident by the massive amounts of pine needles covering the court. Surrounding neighborhoods not so great. Dog owners frequently don't clean up after their pets. The DECENT: There have been multiple instances where my husband's bank account has been compromised or his BAH has been affected. We reached out to the complex & they assured us we would not be charged any late fees for the issues & they have stood by their word. If there did come a charge, it was removed promptly. Maintenance is relatively quick to respond (1-3 days for our issues) but they were not calling ahead of time for entry. Since Wayne has arrived, they make sure to call when they arrive at our door & I've made sure to let them know it is greatly appreciated as we often watch other soldier's pets while they're in the field. We are looking at moving to a 2BR in the same complex in September due to an expanding family & stopped into the leasing office where someone informed us that there is a $700 fee to break our lease which ends on October 1 - at that point I'll be 37 weeks pregnant. The pregnancy is the reason we wanted to move a month earlier than our lease ending; to avoid any complications & be ready for baby's arrival. She said she would check up on having the fee waived due to our special circumstance but we heard nothing further. After contacting Wayne, we were assured this wouldn't be an issue. OVERALL: The complex is located close to both our jobs & is OK in price (sized small). The units need energy updates to alleviate the ridiculous costs of cooling & water on the residents. Parking sucks if you don't live close to public space. Office staff needs managerial & customer service training, don't bother calling them unless you are ok with being ignored for days. If you have a pressing issue, email Wayne Harris or go in person. Maintenance is pleasant & responds quickly. Would be a nice incentive if you got some of your pet deposit back upon moving out. Management understands crap happens to bank accounts & (so far) have been very flexible when issues arise. Pest control needed more frequently but thankfully we haven't had an issue since move in. Units super quiet. Move in was too fast & after it, you're on your own. A little afraid of move out when it happens.... read more

Current resident of this place and woke up one morning with my car towed one day for no reason what's so ever and had to pay a towing company for the complexes mistake. And another morning woke up to a huge branch that fell from a tree. Again you guest it had to cover this. Now I understand the branch through window not being payed for but the fact that my car gets towed without any notification from the complex is just sad really. So fair warning to those who appreciate adequate information because def won't be getting that here. read more

The apartment complex is nice and in a good location with mature trees and some nice amenities - pools/tennis/etc. That said, my personal experience with maintenance was unacceptable, outweighing the only benefits of the good location. I lived here from Feb '18 - Oct '18. My oven worked until May, when I filed a maintenance request because it took over 1 hour to preheat to anything above 350 degrees. Maintenance came and "fixed" it, but I was still having issues. I filed a second request, to which maintenance replied that I was "setting a delay on the oven" and that it worked when they came out to fix it. I then went to the maintenance office in person and explained my situation - that I did, in fact, know how to operate an oven. After that, I heard no response, contacted Aimco to file a more "formal" complaint, and my oven then remained UNABLE TO HEAT (it was possible to grab the rack after 2 hours of "preheating") until I moved out. Unacceptable. On a separate note - there was minor flooding in my apartment building on the 1st (below ground) floor during a large rainstorm. Despite living on the 2nd floor, I experienced some breathing trouble around that time, and noticed that a maintenance request had been filed on my account by a third party (presumably Foxchase themselves) for MOLD in my unit, which was "wiped with a rag" as a fix. I called and asked about the maintenance issue and was passed around from person to person, giving no REAL answer. I promptly moved out due to a broken major appliance and a probable case of mold in my unit. On another note, even though I had selected "Please call before entering" for any maintenance requests, maintenance staff never notified me and walked right in whenever they pleased. After the rainstorm, I came by my apartment at lunch time to find 2 maintenance staff working in my kitchen while my girlfriend unknowingly was in the shower. Not a comfortable situation. We moved in a few months ago and we've had no big problems. The leasing office, the administration office, and the maintenance office are all very responsive to all inquiries and are very patient and helpful. We have put in almost 10 maintenence issues in 6 months and all of them have been completed promptly. If WE need something, WE contact the office, and they provide. read more

Just moved out after 2.5 years. No good. Maintenance is very rude and do not read your service request form. The leasing office staff are not well trained and very curt. They have the fancy new office and just hang out chatting while you wait for them to decide it's time for them to acknowledge you. The buildings are old and the common spaces are gross. There's not enough parking so if you move here be sure to park quickly before folks get home from work. If you get home 7 PM or later you will not find a space near you. They do weird unnecessary updates (electronic locks that are too sensitive and difficult to use) in stead of practical updates. The pools are okay and the nature trail near by is nice. Nice that you are within walking distance of the grocery store. Good for dogs but they say they do dangerous breed restrictions but they do not honor it. Some of the dogs that live here are pretty aggressive and bark a lot but most are nice. read more

I'm really pleased with the progress Foxchase is making to the apartments, my daughter's apartment anyway. After much protesting and staging a 'sit-in' at the rental office, I was able to get the mice problem taken care of in ONE day! Contractors came in and literally tore apart my daughter's kitchen and sealed every hole. Mouse problem solved. There is no point in just sitting around and complaining! The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Be professional and respectful but you can get what you are legally entitled to if you make enough noise. I have no problem with complaining at the same time, I give credit where credit is due! The property manager handled the problem quickly and very professionally!! Foxchase is a beautiful community. It needs a little TLC but everyone has to want the same. The most beautiful, new and well kept homes have mice and roaches from time to time. Do your part and stop complaining!! Kudos to management! Four stars only because i had to complain several times to have the problem corrected. read more

Since my time living at Foxchase is coming to an end, I thought I'd write my honest review. My husband and I have lived in Foxchase for about 4 years. We rent a Gadsby 2 bed, 2.5 bath townhome. First of all, I have to say location is key when choosing where to live here. I have friends who have lived in different locations around Foxchase and some liked and some hated their locations. I live on a dead end by Taney Ave Park ... this location has been AMAZING! I have friends who lived off Jordan and hated it because of all the traffic. My building has always been great - my neighbors and i have all gotten along, gotten to know one another, and never had any issues. It wasn't until a new neighbor recently moved in that made the building unbearable to live in. But ... like with any apartment complex, you take that risk of having not great neighbors. Foxchase maintenance has ALWAYS responded in a timely fashion to my service requests. I have absolutely no complaints about maintenance because they are all so nice and helpful. However, Getting in touch with people in the office has been difficult. If I want to speak with someone actually in Foxchase, I usually have to call Aimco and they get someone to call me back. Our apartment has been really nice .... not the new updated one but not falling apart either. Only negative would be our kitchen cabinets are a little outdated/old, but not a deal breaker. The gyms are nice but small with updated equipment. I have never run into issues with waiting for machines. Parking is interesting, but I think it depends on where you live. If I can't find a spot in my lot, theres almost always street parking or additional parking across the street. Overall, we have enjoyed our time living here and will miss it a lot! Especially Taney Ave Park thst has a giant field behind our house for our dog to run in. read more

This is a great place if you are just looking for something cheap with a few amenities. Pool is decent, gym is very small and limited, and parking is hit or miss. If you choose NOT to buy a 15 or 40 a month RESERVED spot then plan to park on the streets where it is impossible to find space after 8PM. Want a reserved spot? The 40 a month isn't always available, and the 15 a month still fills up after 8PM I live on the top floor in a two bedroom apartment. It is a great size with perfect amount of space. Event though we are on the top floor we STILL get roaches. Every so often they let us know about pest control coming through, however they don't tell you a specific time. People with pets have to plan to place their animal somewhere else for over 10 hours. When it comes to other maintenance problems, they usually respond quickly after you submit a request. However, if you have to call the office do not EVER expect them to answer the phone. Same with the leasing office. You can show up to the office and there will be a bunch of staff working but they still wont answer the phones. If you are keen to efficiency and cleanliness, this may not be the best complex for you. If you just want a cheap apartment then it is the right place for you. read more

NO ONE SHOWED UP. i called today and they said oh sorry we will come today, well no i want to be there, i told her this and the representative hung-up on me. I called back and the next rep was nice and let me schedule my own pre-moveout but gave no explanation or apology for wasting my time yesterday. i have called to confirm this, and got a remote facility. i had to call 4 times this morning before reaching someone. the front door is still broken, requires no key, but if you lose the key they do give you its $300 dollars.. The parking situation has become worse, while raising their prices. I now pay an extra 5 dollars a month to park on the street instead of a lot. this place has just been a nightmare especially when it comes to customer service. BEWARE read more

Been here for a while now...so I've read the reviews and agree with almost everyone. Granted the units/complex is older but I believe you are getting your money's worth..(to a point!). In addition to the Free Shuttle service to the Metro; there are also multiple bus lines (METRO and DASH) Mon-Fri. On the weekends the bus lines are reduced to maybe half. Parking is an issue. Spaces are too small. My car has been smacked and dinged by other neighbors. If you parked in the enclosed spaces behind the buildings make sure you have a parking pass clearly displayed on your vehicle. That is considered private property and you will be towed! Management: Oh lordie where do I begin. Basically they do not have their act together over there. I've had my fair share of shouting matches with them so I'm not surprised others have as well. They didn't use to have a corporate office (I believe) so that did come in helpful when I had to light a fire under them once. Note: AIMCO rep on the phone did acknowledge "issues" with the Foxchase management. I will say though they did not increase my rent this year(probably because I've been there for so long). For the most part I would rate my time with them as "ok". Things could be better...but there are definitely worse places out there. I'll be moving out when my lease is up next year. Not happy about the 60 day notice (it used to be 30) but I'll figure it out. I have noticed a trend in my building....new tenants are not staying long. I also would avoid the buildings that run parallel to Duke Street and alongside the other apartment building next door (separated by a fence). That's where most of the car break ins happen. My other advice to anyone thinking of moving in is that you read that lease thoroughly. Pay attention to the fee schedule. read more

I lived here for a little over a year - and to mixed results. First, the management office is awful. Not just I had one bad experience, but genuinly terrible. I actually told them they recieve terrible reviews on yelp and such and they didn't seem to care. When I went to move in, the apartment was in shambles. I put in a list of work requests including just hooking up the washer and dryer to fixing the persistently noisy floors. They fixed about 50% and the rest I either fixed on my own or learned to live with. Their hours are terrible if you ever want to talk to someone, and when you do get a chance to call, you will almost never speak to someone who knows what you are talking about. I put in the same work request 11 times over 4 months before it was actually fixed - this was partly for calling Aimco corporate headquarters. Second, the apartment is not too bad. For the price and area, its actually not a bad deal. Parking can be a major disaster, but there are so many people it would be that way no matter what. The apartment is dated, but saving money in comparison to a stainless steel refrigerator is my want, so I chose it. The 2 bedroom/2 bathroom is setup for a perfect way for roommates. The townhouse style up on the 3/4 floors is also a good plan. Third, because is a low rent place you get a mixed crowd on neighbors. While there were other professionals who left in the morning with me, there were also some very odd birds about. My neighbors next door lived in the same 2 bedroom/2 bathroom unit as us and had no less than 4 children, one whom was an infant and cried a lot during the night. I can't complain too much about neighbors because it isn't the communities fault - but this property definitely attracts a VERY mixed crowd. Never had any issues with bugs, but then again I have cats. Also - since the apartments are so old, I'd say being a little more dog friendly would be a good idea. But then again, management sucks. So where to begin. at first I was happy with the trees and nice area walking distance to some nice things like parks, and shopping and grocery store. But on move in day there was garbage all over the lawn. Maintenance is fast, usually a day. But they have pest issues. Mice, crickets and roaches, even had a squirrel in the walls that kept me up all night once. I am a clean person so this drove me nuts! Even after repeated visits from pest control they could never control it. Even after I moved all the furniture and came back to clean again, crickets on the empty floors. Moving, oh my, so they made me pay for a day in July that I would never need. So $43 bucks wasted, AND the monthly fee's!!! Admin fee??? Pest fee??? I understood the water and sewage. And finally. The move out form mentioned an OPTIONAL cleaning fee. Even the video described it as optional ($90 bucks). I am a very clean person to begin with (military and boarding school) so I figured I could easily save $90 bucks. NOPE that optional fee? IS required! (I KNOW, WHY SAY ITS OPTIONAL IF IT IS NOT!!!!????) So utter rip off in fees. I will never recommend this place read more

I had an unfortunate experience here. Unfortunate meaning shit came out of my ceiling from a burst pipe that had reportedly been fixed. When I finally talked to management (instead of just the maintenance department,) the issue was fixed promptly and they offered to put me up while the repairs happened. I then terminated my lease early (which was allowed because I had shit rain from the freaking ceiling) and it has been a hassle. You need to be persistent with management to get anything done. It took a week of calling to get a meeting with management and another few days when they tried to charge early termination fees. Persistence. The good: Cheap Location Quiet, small buildings Nice layout The bad: Maintenance is quick, but will put band aids on bullet wounds Bugs, manageable with spray but they will be there You have to really be persistent to get anything actually done Living here is rolling the dice with a major issue. 2 stars because of the price. Moved-in here on the 2nd week of Nov '17 and at first impression, I thought this place would be it. Well, the only reason why i'm giving this a 2 star is because of the decency and cleanliness of my apartment having enough space for 1 person. Other than that, i'd give this place a negative -1 for having the SHITTIEST parking situation in all of the places i've lived in. Parking situation here is by far the worse and its completely and almost unbearable to find a space after 9-10pm. The parking space markings are beyond NON-visible to the naked eye which causes everyone to take up way too much space in between cars than allowed. I mean for GOD SAKE FOXCHASE - DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Hell, even the parking permit area can't guarantee you a spot! Gonna give this place a year. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. The leasing office is an absolute nightmare and screwed up the paperwork literally a dozen times before getting it right, tried to charge a late fee for not signing in time (even though the paperwork they had provided 10 precious times was incorrect and therefore invalid anyway), oh, and they screwed up my security deposit refund too. Pretty sure they refunded my money to my former roommate, if they sent the refund at all. I will update this review if/when I receive my deposit back. But, renters beware, they are incompetent and dishonest in my experience. Update: it only took 2 1/2 months, and they still sent the deposit to the wrong person, but luckily my former roommate is more honest and efficient than I could count on them to be and was willing and able to send me my deposit that they had issued to her. Oh, and they had the audacity to call *me* a headache!! Not a great place to live. As other people have said, if you want something cheap with few amenities and terrible leasing office staff, this is the place to be. Kelvin is a pain. I added my name to my then boyfriends lease. Initially he told me I could get an extra building key for $5. Great. I come back to sign the lease and he then tells me it's $75 for an extra key. I reiterated what he initially told me about a $5 key. He finally caved and just gave it to me for free. Super unprofessional and overall terrible at his job. We also had mice and cockroach problems for months. We were pretty clean people and always vacuumed-mopped once a week, but when we moved out we discovered piles of mice droppings. I can't believe we lived in such a filthy apartment for so long. A while back they switch the locks from standard to smart locks. Ours had faulty wiring and it took a grand total of 7 maintenance requests to get it fixed. 7 times we were locked out of our own apartment because the lock was dead. Upon move out, they charged us $150 for a second coat of paint and therefore we didn't get the deposit back but instead owed them money. Parking is terrible, boyfriend got towed from the once because he had expired tags, when there werw plenty of people parking in the lot without stickers. These people will do everything in their power to milk you of your money. They do not care about their tenants. The only thing that was good at this place were the thick walls. We lived next to a couple older folks who were super quiet- never any noise problems. That's the only reason they have 1 star. read more

The Yelp reviews almost scared me away but Kenneth in the leasing office changed my mind. On the whole, I am glad I moved here. The rent is extremely affordable given the location and close proximity to Old Town. If you plan to live here get a unit on the top floor of the building - I've seen no bugs. Pay the $40/month for a reserved parking space for your car - the parking gets really tight in the lots after 6 p.m. every day of the week. Make sure you have a washer/dryer in your unit - the laundry room is functional but gives me the creeps. It is a small stackable unit but is quite functional. So far I've had good luck with the maintenance crew. One of the best things about living here is how quiet it is. I hear virtually no noises from my my neighbors' apartments. In the stairwell there is noise coming from almost every door but when I get to my unit and close the door I hear nothing. To be sure this is not luxury living but it is comfortable. I don't know that I will live here beyond my current lease but I am good with it for the time being. To AIMCO management - you have a treasure in Kenneth - reward him. My one complaint are additional charges. Pay close attention to your monthly bills through Foxchase - I was late a few days because I didn't pay attention and received a Five Day Quit Notice for $28 + a $100 late fee. Pay attention! ********************UPDATE********************** Well, I've been at Foxchase for two years now and thought it would be good to update my review. I continue to be pleased with my unit. It is still my little oasis but the property in general is starting to show signs of neglect. Aimco just isn't doing the work and it shows. Shutters are missing from buildings, the carpeting in my building is soiled, threadbare, and it smells. The door to the building is frequently not working and can be opened without a key. The shuttle service to the King Street Metro station was discontinued with barely two weeks of notice to residents. You can rarely get a person on the telephone to discuss issues you may be experiencing. It is a shame because just a little care would change everything but it isn't happening. I live very close to the exercise room at the complex but have purchased a membership at Planet Fitness because not only does it feel unsafe to be in there alone there is not a lot of equipment. The maintenance and housekeeping teams are the shining stars at this property. They are responsive and take tremendous pride in their work. Recently I received an email offering me the opportunity to upgrade my appliances for a monthly fee. I was shocked by this. My unit had upgraded appliances and new hardwood (laminate) flooring when I moved in so it was clearly a mistake that I received the offer but nonetheless ... who does this? If the appliances are ready to be replaced why would you put the burden of that turn on your residents as a monthly fee? It seems greedy. If you are looking for a reasonably priced apartment in relatively close proximity to the city, this is your place. Do not expect any bells and whistles or special touches. As long as you understand that this is a no-frills community, you'll be fine. Update....... The longer you live here the worse it gets. Don't move here. You will regret it. read more

I have lived at Foxchase for over 2 years. I was originally fairly satisfied with living here but the new management does not treat tenets well. I was called out of the blue at work and told to remove a seat from my balcony area by 10 am the next day or I could get evicted. The seat had been there the entire time I have lived here but now it was a emergency. I tried to reason with them and pointed out there were many residents with similar things. They said they would crack down on all of those residents too. I understand wanting to have standards to make the place look nice but in this case there wasn't an eyesore, the rules weren't broken and the response was excessive. read more

I am updating my review from last week. After placing an honest and poor review on Yelp, I received a call from Aimco who is the property management company for Foxchase Apts and the Regional Resident Manager by the name of Arun, whom said I would receive a copy of my lease and today, 5 days later I still haven't received one. The two largest concerns prospective renters should be aware of when considering foxchase is the poor condition of the property and lack of effective help at leasing office. I am posting pictures of the stairwells I took just a few days ago, which is incredibly embarrassing when I have guests visit. Please be aware that the condition of the unit you will be assigned to will not resemble the reasonable condition of the model units you see at the sales office. I am attaching pictures for those of you interested in viewing. I do want to say that from what I have experienced the neighborhoods are safe. Also for the money, the square feet of the apartments are competitive in the market around the area. Just be assured that this is not high end living. Good luck.. read more

They agreed to release me from my lease, but now they are charging me about $5000.00 worth of additional fees. Just like expected, more charges that management didn't identify. If I could put zero I would. We viewed a few different apartments in the area. My main qualification is that the place doesn't have any type of bug or pest problem. The leasing office assured me there was no problem. A month or so ago we received notification that we needed to remove everything from the kitchen secure all food so they could perform pest control, but no one could be in the apartment for four hours. I was concerned as normally, if an apartment complex performs normal pest control, there isn't a problem. We are charged a significant amount for pest control considering there are over 2200 apartments in this complex. A few minutes ago, was sitting on the couch and a mouse ran across the floor. Extremely irritated, and now I won't be able to sleep! I have it trapped in the closet and put in a maintenance request. Let's see how long it takes them to respond. In the few months we've been here the management has made half the parking spaces in our area reserved, which significantly affects available parking. Then they had a meeting where they are going to change the locks from keyed locks to electronic locks. During the meeting many women were concerned with safety. The property manager's response was extremely rude. One lady said she has a chain on the door, and the property manager said someone will be by soon to remove it. Another person asked if we had been notified before signing the lease that the locks would change. Instead of answering the woman said we had to ask individually. When others asked the same question, as we presumably all signed the same lease, she refused to answer. The woman is rude. Absolutely appalling management. Extremely upset that they lied. I have been living at the Foxchase since 2014 and have no desire to leave anytime soon. The price is amazing. The location is quite and all of my neighbors are very kind. I would recommend the foxchase to anyone looking for a long term rental. The maintance staff is always helpful when needed and the management is always prompt and friendly. Recently I was renewing my lease and with the help of Calvin and Wayne. There were multiple issues I was facing due to a roommate change. With no questions asked they did everything I needed in order to proceed. I happily resigned for another 13 months. read more

I have lived in Foxchase for 1.5 years. Ill start by saying that after you sign the lease they tell you the paint on the outside of the building is lead based. They neglect to mention that before you sign the lease. When it comes to insects/rodents -- they dance around the question when you ask. I live on the middle floor and I have had one mouse (that I removed from the apartment). They charge a monthly extermination fee - with that being said the exterminators came in once in my year and a half of living here and they laid a sticky mouse trap on my counter. They support staff is not friendly and tend to have really bad/nasty attitudes when you have a question. Someone in my building broke their key off in the security door, so no one could get in the building. It was 2 am and we called emergency maintenance and they could not fix the problem and said "I cant do it, I dont know what to do" and got ready to leave. With me and another girl stranded outside. LUCKILY someone was doing laundry and could let us in. Maintenance also has weird hours, I have to take half days off of work to have something fixed. I called and they come in from 9-12 and 1-4:30. I have a large dog, and I appreciate that they allow large dogs, but there are no trashcans to throw the waste around the complex. If my dog goes to the bathroom I have to pick it up and walk all the way down the street to throw it out. I find it frustrating in poor weather, but other than that I do not mind. Many other people must find it difficult because the lawns are littered with dog poop. This year during the major snow storm, I could not go into work because my street was not cleared off. I figured 3 days after the storm, someone would come but no one did. I had to wait for the snow to melt and shovel my car out. Finding an apartment complex in this area that is reasonably priced is difficult. With that being said, you get what you pay for. read more

I lived at Foxchase for 2 yrs. Here are my thoughts: 1) The apartments are decently priced for what you are getting, but by no means is it luxury. Expect old style apts, basic carpeting, 1990's kitchen & bathroom, etc. However, the 2 bd/2.5 bath apts are huge. Downside, bad if you need public transportation. 2) Maintenance: Most of the time they are pretty quick and friendly. I had one issue where the wires in our HVAC system were completely chewed threw by squirrels. Obviously a fire hazard. It took us 4 maintenance requests, 2 phone calls and finally a "written" notice absolving us from any fire damage due to their neglect, and cc'ing a copy to the local fire department and police department. That's when they fixed it. They then came back claiming to clean it out and all they did was lock the door so we couldn't access it and complain. Oh, and let's not forget the maintenance man that stopped by my apartment to threaten me for filing a complaint with the police department. SMH 3) Be prepared for your toilets to break...a lot. The handles, the flushing...they keep replacing it quickly, but they use such cheap parts and it breaks a week later. A maintenance man even expressed his frustration with AIMCO because they wouldn't let them purchase better materials. 4) Bugs...everywhere. My roommate and I had to buy the special foam to pad all the windows because the screens don't fit/need replacing. All the bugs kept coming through there and our light fixtures...gross. 5) Gyms - the gym equipment breaks all the time and they take forever to fix it. A lot of the gym magazines are soft core porn for men. The AC in there is never working and they don't stock the cleaning wipes (for machines) very often. 6) The pools are pretty decent. But, they charge your guests to use the pool. Considering they have quite a few pools, none of which I have ever seen packed, it's an unnecessary charge, esp for the amenities fee you have to pay. 7) Parking for the most part isn't hard to find unless you come back late at night. What sucks is the spots are too small and people constantly slam their doors into your car, denting and scuffing it. My friend is a traffic engineer and she actually measured the spots - she said it's a foot smaller than it should be, which is apparently illegal and Foxchase is liable. 8) Your water/sewer bill are epic lies. On average it was $50/month!!! GTFOH! My dad pays that every 4 months for a giant 4 bedroom house. 9) Move-out - This is where Foxchase gets you...hard. First, they claim they gave you a 60 day notice. They didn't. They gave us notice two weeks prior to move-out and after we already gave them notice! Because we were 8 days late with the 60 day notice we got charged up the butt with penalty fees. A penalty fee, increased rent, plus a month-to-month charge...ridiculous. Oh - and there is a $10 move out fee they never mentioned when you signed the lease...BEWARE! During the apt walk through for moving out, they signed off on everything in great condition. Then to my surprise, we get a call a couple weeks later claiming we owe $1,200 for carpet replacement despite the fact their own form, which they scanned a copy for us, clearly states our carpet passed inspection. They threatened multiple times to send our info to a debt collector, and not both of us, just mine. See my credit is stellar and my roommate's was bad. They threatened tactically. I ended up getting my lawyer involved and reaching out to reporters at three major U.S. papers who were ready to tear AIMCO a new one. Only then did AIMCO back down. I'm not sure how AIMCO hasn't been investigated by the government on this egregious abuse of power, but you can prevent it from happening by never renting from them. 10) I put this last because it's just speculation, not fact. We moved into an apt where the carpets weren't replaced. We lived there for 2 years and black spots would constantly appear on the carpet...whatever was underneath was seeping in above. We'd just clean it with carpet cleaner and be on our way. It never occurred to me it could be hazardous. My 5 year old cat died...with the most unexplained symptoms ever. I had a world renowned UPenn vet researcher (family friend) study the case, run blood tests...everything...and he concluded it was long term poisoning. He said it couldn't be from food because it would have been quicker and it wasn't straight poison. He said it was similar to cats who are around hazardous mold or poison, get it on their fur and paws - lick and clean themselves - ingesting small doses that build up over time. My cat died a little over a year of living there. My roommate ended up getting a new cat shortly after. Towards the end of the 2nd yr, her cat kept vomiting and developing constant diarrhea. Six months of not living there and her cat's fine now. Coincidental? I will have to live the rest of my life believing I killed my cat by living at that crap apartment. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE. Had the same maintenance problems over and over. To include dishwasher, bugs, and air conditioner that kept leaking. They always came back to fix but had to refix time and time again. ALSO, the utility bill is padded with hidden charges. This is a greedy company that does not care about residents. Building has total MICE INFESTATION. Mouse poop on counters, beds, couch, everywhere! They come out and play at night and we found 2 live mice in a Rubbermaid tub in the living room in the morning. I am totally grossed out by this place. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE. Foxchase is the absolute worst place to live, and the admin office just does not care about its residents. We have had mice (hoards of them, they run across our kitchen while we cook), for TEN MONTHS. We have complained continuously and threatened legal action, and they still don't do anything. I moved in to Foxchase apartments a few months ago. Everything has been okay up to this point, just the regular amount of being screwed over by a leasing company. Until this weekend... I pay $10/month for parking, I expect to not be towed from my own lot. I have been parking in the same lot every day since I moved in. I parked my car there like normal on Friday evening, parking pass was in the rear window as usual. On Saturday night my car gets towed at 11pm. I didn't realize this until Sunday morning and of course the leasing office is closed on Sunday's. The towing company (A-1 towing) refused to release my car unless I paid $175. When I retrieved the car the parking pass is mysteriously missing!! Photos of the car (denied to me at first) show that the the pass was not in the window. I don't know how it was removed but it was. On Monday I went to to the leasing office to complain. They were insistent that their policy was that the parking pass must be displayed or the car would be towed. In my opinion, they should have some record of license plates so that this type of thing can't happen! I expected to be reimbursed for the tow but they refused that as well. And here's the kicker...they wanted me to PAY $25 FOR A NEW PASS!! A tiny little sticker!! I feel like I'm being scammed here and there has been no justice. The "manager" who I talked to in the office about this LITERALLY LAUGHED at me. I don't know why she thought it was appropriate to laugh in my face when I'm having such a hard time. I am very insulted and very upset. I would give them 0 stars if I could. read more

I have lived here since May 2009. For the price, this apartment complex is the best you'll get in this area. FYI - I'm not an agent of the complex, just felt like I needed to correct the previous reviewer's impression. Parking - yes, the parking spots can fill up, especially right at the dinner hour. I live on probably the busiest part of the complex, but have never had to go more than 10 spots away from my building to park. There are also permit-parking lots available to most buildings that have ample parking. Further, there is public street parking very close to each building for non-permitted guests. Quality - our building is great. I can't speak for all of them, but when I moved in the apartment was impeccable. Honestly, this was the first apartment I moved in to where there wasn't something that needed fixing right away. I don't even have a "renovated" apartment. My appliances are older, but perfectly functional. I had a problem with the gas stove, and it was fixed the next day. We haven't had any insect or mouse problems. I have seen cockroaches outside, but never in the building, and they have decreased significantly over the past few months. Now I see them maybe once every two weeks or so. Admin - I've never found them to be anything but helpful. I had a problem with my keys when I first moved in, and they went out of their way to fix the issue for me. For the size of the complex, they do a pretty decent job. Yes, they are slow sometimes, and the rental policies aren't the greatest (expensive late fee, strict lease terms) but that's normal renting issues, not complex-specific. Other things I like - walking distance to a 24 hour Harris Teeter, the grounds are very pretty with lots of trees and grassy areas, there are cleaners attending to the common areas about once a week, and more if needed, the shuttle to the metro is free and easy, the bedrooms are HUGE (I have TWO closets!), my area is full of young professionals and families, and the apartments all have patios or balconies. There's no smoking in any of the buildings, so you don't have to worry about your neighbors' smell. I probably won't renew my lease, but that's only because I got a better job, and can afford to pay more to be closer to the metro. But if you don't have lots of money, and need a good value for the price, this is definitely a good deal. No, it's not luxury living, but as close as I've found on a budget! read more

I've tried to hold off on this post for some time now, but I have reached a point where I cannot take my living conditions any longer. Writing, unfortunately, as a 2 year resident of Foxchase Apartments and can say with confidence that it has been the worst 2 years of my life. Between the constant increase in price and decrease in amenities, the paper thin walls, and allowing families of 5-7 people to squeeze into these TINY apartments, it's no wonder that the MICE among so many other pests are out of control! The "management" is horrendous, good luck to you if you ever need to speak with someone in person. They will "call you back" or if you would rather, you are welcome to sit in the waiting room for 2+ hours while the 3 agents that cover thousands of residents are indefinitely at lunch. I continued to live here unfortunately in fear of the horror move out stories, and the promise of upgrades to my apartment that never came. Wood floors were promised to sign my lease, and then denied after. The list goes on and on. So I can assure you that no one deserves to live in conditions such as these. I keep my apartment in immaculate condition, but can not say the same for the people who live around me. Mice, cockroaches, ants, gigantic spider/crickets, are the most frequent inhabitants and management continues to turn a blind eye and refuse to provide any sort of treatment besides an occasional 10 cent mouse trap if you bug them incessantly, clearly that is not solving the infestation. In conclusion, you deserve to live where you can live life comfortably and not in fear. PLEASE live anywhere but here. read more

Foxchase is a great community I moved in October 2016 and the process of getting my apartment was all done in one day which I have never experienced such a quick process in any other apartment complex. The apartment has new appliances stove, fridge, dishwasher and microwave in black which is always nice and clean color. The maintenance service is very fast as well I've been in other apartment complex that take the fastest a week for them to come which is never fun. You will never go wrong with Foxchase. read more
