Yael has an amazing selection of affordable yet unique and chic apparel. It's a small but impactful boutique. When I go through the racks, it's usually a hard no, or a "I have to have this" reaction. That's because she seems to be able to choose clothes that you won't find elsewhere for less than $300-500 but each piece is perfect for a certain type of person. And so affordable - usually around $100-140 for a beautiful jumpsuit, dress, jacket, pair of great jeans, etc. That's why it's so dangerous to come here. The clothes are beautiful, unique and most pieces can go from office to an evening event easily. And many have pockets, which is a bonus. Come here and you'll see why it has close to 5 stars!

But that is why Unique Boutique -- and each item is unique -- is so much fun. A note -- someone reviewed it saying "I called to ask about furniture and the guy said no and hung up the phone..." This is what I mean about customers not understanding retail...you asked a question, he answered it and why should he stay on the phone with you ? There is no way this store has the space to accommodate furniture and once that is clear, there is nothing more to say, so salespeople hang up. If you would like them to apologize for not taking or selling something impossible, that is what you expect culturally, but other people do not think that is necessary in what is not a personal relationship. The clothing here is sassy and classy, and there is a wide assortment--from everyday clothes to professional and party wear, and they last for decades. I still wear all the clothes that I bought from him in the 90s. I feel like Darryl is my personal stylist. He is forthright about what looks good on me, and he will not allow me to buy anything that does not compliment my figure or complexion. I always get compliments on the unique clothes that I found there. Importantly, Darryl's always has sales, and I since I only shop for things on sale, his clothing is reasonably priced. Darryl's is a NY gem that has saved me when I needed an outfit for a special occasion and could not find anything online or in the major stores. Darryl's is my favorite boutique in the universe!

But the clothes are generally well-made and very stylish. Once, I decided that I really, really needed a short down coat with an enormous fur hood. Variazioni had ONE left, in a medium. On sale! I bought it and wore it happily in the freezing cold. The salespeople can be pushy. I had a favorite, non-pushy, quite languid sales associate at the Columbus Avenue location. Today, on Broadway, I was practically chased around the store by some man who smelled terrible and kept telling me he had things in other colors, and bringing me tops to go with the pants and skirt I was holding. I finally told him that I like to think while I'm shopping. He wasn't happy, but did leave me alone. I bought a beautiful pair of white silk palazzo pants and a cream sweater. They have some gorgeous spring/summer dresses, but the prices seemed quite high. Sometimes it's best to check online and see what the price is elsewhere.

Eventually they found them but we were only there for an hour and in that span of 40 min they decided to put our stuff back?! Really dissatisfied it seemed that the workers there were miserable and didn't care about the customers.

In the lower floor, are the men's products and clearance sections. Main floor has home goods, sunglasses, watches, purses in limited quantity, also lots of women's apparels. Second floor has dresses and shoes. The store was mostly tidy. Walking thru the cramped aisles was little tough. There were only two fitting rooms from what I heard the staff saying . The Clearance sections had sale items up to 80%. I liked a $49 Scotch & Soda t-shirt tagged for only $7. The deal made my day. Checkout process was quick. I got to use my Bloomingdale's cash rewards for the purchase. Overall it was a nice store and seemed to be popular among the city locals.
