Love this store for years! Its a miniature version of Marshall's, no frills but great finds. They have brands such as Steve Madden, Nanette Lepore and some you might not know at really discounted prices. The sale girls are always helpful and will call the other locations if you need a different size. I end up purchasing something everytime I stop by one of their locations It's w.orth checking out if you need a few new pieces and prefer not to spend an arm and a leg on them. read more

Entered the store and saw two warm bodies fluffing and adjusting themselves. They gave me no greeting. They had some "dresses" for sale and I picked one up and jokingly said is this a dress ( it was the size of a baby's bib) she was quick to declare YES IT IS in a sarcastic tone ( ok maybe my "joke" deserves that) I then asked if the store was for youth because at first glance the sizes looked so small. She again "NO" and stopped short of any other information about the store. OK then, wanna help me much? I moved a few racks over and saw a few things that could possibly fit my size 12 frame. I stopped myself from making a Purchase because the workers kept socializing with themselves instead of, I don't know..... point me to areas that has my size or try to help me find something. Ask me what I am looking for or just at minimum look like they were serious about helping customers and not just visiting with each other at work I left, they didn't even glance my way. I was happy to come across De Janeiro. For one, I needed some hostess and birthday gifts, and found a great selection of Pashmina scarves for $6.99. Also got a pair of flats for $11.99. Would have loved it if they had some of the AK Sports flats in my size, but alas no. If I was near a De Janeiro store I'd keep looking for 'em. You have to have the time and desire to really sort through the clothing to separate the wheat from the chaff and find the gems, but I am sure it's worth it as I saw some very fashionable ladies buzzing around....so, if you've got the time and the talent, give De Janeiro a try! read more

This location is actually not bad. One of the employees black lady is always helpful. The others are hit and a miss. The lexington location is also not bad as I had a return and w/i the dates and they didn't give me any problems and it was in and out w/i 5 mins. The worst location I find would be the 8th ave location, staffs not helpful and basically nothing there if you can't find them in the other locations. read more

Contrary to Yelp's categorization, this store is neither used nor consignment clothing. This store is quite a bit smaller and more crowded than its counterparts (Dijon and another De Janeiro branch) in the Financial District. Especially during lunchtime - eek! But overall, I'm a fan. You want polyester party dresses and flimsy shoes that you could pull off better in high school? Come here. You want cheap AND DID I MENTION CHEAP business casual clothes that are generally on-trend (flowy blouses, casual blazers, tanks/shells, cardigans)? Come here. Yes all of you who make just enough that midtown is RIDONKULOUSLY expensive area to be in/shop and were thrilled 2 find this store opening up on the block! It is one of those spots that sells designer and random brand clothing at a super discount. . Example: looking for work pants??? You can select from the assorted NY&Co, Express, Limited, Calvin Klein brand pants on the rack in size & color organization. . Cute dresses for the summer, or cute tops for going out to the movies, great shoes from enzo, madden, and off-brand names at good prices and right on trend with whatever is hot at the moment. . . Summer sandals galore and quite a few under $20.00 SCOOOOOORE! Some stuff is great quality b/c of the original maker, some stuff is questionable but at the end of the day you can't beat $7.00 workpants, $40.00 Micheal Kors winter coat and $15.00 strappy sandals. . on 6th avenue and 45th. . honestly. . . .what more can you ask for?? This is my go-to spot for random outfits, random gym clothes, random anything! Exceptionally affordable prices for...ok, not the best quality one can imagine, but still, I loves it! Forget my leggings for the gym? No problem, $6 and ten minutes later, I am all set. Forget my socks? Rinse and repeat on the previous statement. Lines can be painful, and the fitting room is...well, it's a room? That's a good start. But given the prices and randomness of selection, what did anyone really expect?? read more

This is the place to go for cheap but in style work attire. They have so many name brand items here you will not believe the price. Going during lunchtime can be a little crowded so I suggest either going in the moring or later on in the evening to beat the rush. Also be sure to try on your items before you leave the store these clothes tend to be cut small sometimes. read more

I've been getting my retail therapy on here for a while now--it started when I worked in the Financial District and I was soooo excited to find out that one was opening near the new offices in Midtown. If you're looking for a place where they blow a lot of smoke up your hiney and have someone to cater to you, it's not gonna happen here--they often barely even look at you except to call "following guest" while you're waiting on line to pay. What you will find, however, is a shop that is packed--and I mean PACKED with treasures and delights at a fraction of the cost you'd pay elsewhere. During my fatness with child, I came here and saved a bundle on maternity clothes by buying their stretchy dresses and the like two sizes up. I never leave this store empty handed and i've never paid more than $180 a pop. The clothes often get the best compliments too. If you have the patience to go rack surfing and the endurance to brave the fitting room (I always try everything on at home after I have bought it and just take stuff back if it doesn't fit) go immediately and be satisfied! Also, if you strike up a conversation with the staff, you might be surprised--they're friendly as hell. In fact, one guy there knows me as "the pregnant lady" which kind of makes me sad since my kid is nearly two now ;) read more

I always skip the clothes because whatever styles I do like will never be in my size. Instead, I head straight to the back where, SHOES! SO MANY SHOES! SO MANY CHEAP SHOES! De Janerio is my go to for inexpensive, work flats. Seriously, there are some gems here starting at $10 and never go above $25. Me likey. read more

Amazing store!! Large variety of clothes, well stocked and regularly changed with new items. Always have the right items for the season; off season clothes highly discounted. Tops, dresses, skirts, casual wear, coats, shoes (large selection - flats, sandals, sneakers, pumps, boots), undergarments, accessories - pretty much everything you could ever want in one store. This store had a lot of cute things for sale but after going around and gathering a dozen things I was interested in, they said the fitting room was closed (paper handwritten sign hanging on the door) and I couldn't try anything on. The carpet was extremely dirty so I didn't feel comfortable putting my belongings on the ground to atleast hold things up to myself in the one mirror in the store. What initially brought me in was a pair of shoes that caught my attention. They had the shoes in stock but not in my size. The pair in the window looked like my size but when I asked for a price and if I could try them the employee said they didn't sell the items in the window.... even though the all had price cards next to them and had them in stock..... read more

If you want a fast and easy shopping experience and you're on a tight budget this is the place to go. I have found some great deals on clothing and shoes over the past couple of years at this store, including brand name items like Gap, Nine West and Zara. If it weren't for the horrendous fitting room which is a hot box with mirrors and no lock on the door (so anyone can walk in at any given time), and the absolute lack of customer service by everyone that works there, I'd give this store a higher rating. My advice is be sure of what you're going to purchase (even if you have to suffer through the awful fitting room), because if you have to return or exchange something you're gonna wish you never set foot in this store. Also, be SURE to check that your items are not damaged in any way (holes, tares, pen marks, etc.) AND that no item has one of those electric security tags attached to it because they do NOT have the machine to remove them, in which case they might attempt to brake off the tag with a metal bar and damage the clothes in the process (which is what happened to me followed by unnecessary attitude from the cashier and the manager). This store has good finds if you have the time but they lie. I bought activewear two nights ago. The store was closing so I did not try them on. I asked if they were returnable I was told yes. Two of the three were fine. I made a special trip back to the store to change the size on one. The store did not have the size I needed and would not except the item for return. I will never shop here again. I caution you to not believe anything they say. read more
