Barely acknowledged me, and no place to sit, so I just sat on ledge behind a sign. 20 min later I'm not even acknowledged still despite it being 15 min after my appointment time and I'm squished crouching bc there's no seat to wait in. Beautiful plants adorn the walls and sunlight flows through the space making it glow and feel so vibrant. I was visiting town and had some time so thought I would stop by for a haircut. I didn't know who to book with so I just grabbed the first available time with Corey. Corey is super friendly but unfortunately her talkativeness impacted the quality of my haircut. She often got distracted and stopped cutting mid-way to gesture with her hands along with the story she was telling. My hair ended up shorter and more layered than we agreed on at the start, which is NOT a good look and was actually against the advice she gave me at the start which was to go slightly longer than the photos I showed her. Unfortunately I'm stuck adding 30 minutes to my morning routine to style my hair or wearing hats and waiting for my hair to grow back out. :( read more

I used to love this salon but they've just sent out an email letting everyone know they're going to take it upon themselves to charge the client's card on file for 100% of services if you cancel less than FORTY EIGHT hours in advance. That's right: Wake up Monday sick as a dog and you are liable for your Wednesday appointment. No matter what. They'll kindly lower this to a mere 50% if you call 24 hours in advance. All too common in this economy to see what a business will try to shove onto the customer's shoulders. (The surprise "service" fees, the 25% tip prompts, this ridiculous cancellation policy...) I understand the need to charge for a true no-show but this "gotcha!" policy is over the top. We're in a world of highly contagious viruses--including winter Norovirus which kicks in so fast you truly don't have time for 48-hr advance cancellations--and putting this pressure on people to show up at any cost puts everyone in the salon at risk. And if this is the attitude toward clients, I can only imagine the pressure they put on stylists to come in regardless of health. It's particularly gross in a business which requires close contact. I hope clients will protest to their relevant credit card companies and also demand their cards be taken off file at Foxtrot. read more

I have been coming to Foxtrot Salon to get my hair dyed (balayage) and cut with Brittany for 2 years now. I always feel listened to and extremely happy with results. This review is a few weeks late, but I am reminded to write it regularly as I LOVE my haircut and get regular compliments on it. Corey gave me a fantastic cut that is super functional and looks great no matter how I style or part my hair. I came into the salon with dried out/split ends and asked her to just do what she felt like but keep it for easy maintenance and length. I honestly do not know what she has done differently than most other cuts in my life, but this is one of the best haircuts I have ever received and for a ridiculously reasonable price. On top of the amazing quality, the salon was very cute and well designed, and I really appreciate the strict Covid protocols. I arrived a few minutes early and was asked to wait outside in the open air courtyard until it was my turn. Masks were worn and taken seriously. I will never go back to this salon. For one, I went in to get my roots done (I'm blonde with dark roots). The bleach went on fine - but the first toner used was red. Again- my hair is blonde. The hair stylist apologized at this point - never a good sign. A second toner was used. After she washes it out she tells me that she does not have time to blow dry my hair... it was 50 degrees outside and raining. Additionally, a blow dry is part of the service I paid for. Didn't get one. Speaking of payment - I had canceled my appointment a week prior due to my sick baby. I called and spoke to the hair stylist and specifically shared I did not want to lose my $100 deposit. She reassured me I would not and rescheduled me. Came time to pay for my now soaking wet, reddened "blonde" hair. Was the deposit applied? No. So to get my reddened blonde soaked hair, it cost me $225. I was so shocked in the moment I didn't speak up. But needless to say, I will not go back and neither should you. read more

Brittany is amazing at colouring and cutting hair. She's been my style for 4(?) years now. I'm a natural redhead and she took me platinum, helped me keep my hair healthy, and is now helping me transition back into my natural colour while still keeping some of the blonde that I've come to love. Brittain is a hair magician and has been doing my hair for a few years now. I don't spend time on my hair. I like easy wash and go or minimal product looks and can get really lazy with my hair. Brittain gets that and is really really good at giving me something I can handle. Bangs were scary but she taught me how to handle them quickly and I loved it. I did an under shave about 1 1/2 years ago while on vacation and she's been helping me grow it out without looking crazy. Basically I don't know if anything she can't do and I highly recommend her! Lex is my new favorite stylist! An article had been written about her mad skills in The Zoe Report. I like what I saw and made the appointment. I showed her pics of the haircut I wanted and she nailed it. We gushed over Lola Kirke, art history, astrology and our affinity for our Native American heritages. She's very grounded in her practice and clearly loves nurturing her clients. I felt cared for, which is what I think most of us are seeking in a stylist. She listens! Isn't that rad? I left happily with an amazing haircut, some yummy-smelling product and some hope knowing we still have a few goods ones out there. The salon was super clean and the stylists wore masks. They provide sanitizer for transactions and offer Venmo as an option for payment- very convenient! The style is very clean and sleek with neutral colors and many, many plants and their hair transformation photos got me like whoa! Yes please! So I decided to call and I booked an appointment with the owner, Brittain. She was very welcoming and made the process easy over the phone and I even received a text message reminder of my appointment a couple days before! The salon is off Glendale Blvd in cute little Atwater Village, it's really easy to find, they don't have a specific parking lot, but there is a lot of street parking. The salon itself is very clean, they had a private bathroom and a cute little courtyard in the back and the staff was very friendly too, which is always a plus! Great cut in an awesome space! Right on a chill stretch in Atwater Village with plenty of street side parking. Foxtrot is also walking distance to some solid coffee spots if you show up to your appointment early. And if you decide to hang at Foxtrot before your cut, there's a very zen like courtyard in back surrounded by succulents with some bench seating to relax and zone out. Prior to moving to LA from Chicago I saw the same barber every 2 weeks for about a decade. So looking for someone new really felt like rolling the dice. But Kyle nailed my haircut immediately!
