This is directly from VCA Tanglewood Animal Hospital. Please see the attached photo of the record for full context. - This is the second time our dog is dangerously sick after visiting this daycare. The first time, we were genuinely concerned -- he was lethargic, vomiting bile, had severe diarrhea, and wouldn't eat. When we called the owner, we were told he probably just needed to "sleep it off", "take him to the vet if you want to waste money", and that he wasn't used to that much play. We trusted that explanation, thinking maybe he was just overwhelmed. We still spent the money to get him checked out. He ended up needing antibiotics and several days of care, and the vet told us that if we'd waited any longer, he would've needed extreme intervention. We still thought it wasn't the daycare's fault. This week, after just 8 hours back at the same daycare, he had the exact same symptoms. The vet concluded that was no coincidence. Whether it's poor sanitation, exposure to illness, or something else -- the odds are this facility made our dog sick. It's not worth the risk to your dog's life or the medical bills. I have mixed feelings about this place - here is the best list I can compile given all my thoughts: Pros: It's close to my new neighborhood (south Austin manchaca/slaughter) They have availability when needed (sometimes last minute) Dogs come back tuckered out They do training onsite - two of our dogs can have behavioral issues so the fact that we know staff has training experience helps ease our mind in regards to leaving them here Cons: Chaos - the only way I can describe the feeling whenever we walk in - usually a stream of dogs and people, lots of barking it can be very overwhelming Price - I don't think the prices in general are high (they're competitive or low compared to other places) but they are terribly inconsistent. When we first went to check out the place the owner Ali told us it'd be $100/day for all three of our dogs to be border. Whenever we've gone since then, Ali isn't there and the other staff have no clue about the quote and one worker consistently tries to charge us a boarding rate and a day play rate so he tries to charge us $250/day for our three dogs They don't have webcams to see pets - they have a "no kennel set up" so dogs come and go in their secured areas and do what they like - in general I like this concept especially if we board our dogs for a long period of time but it'd be nice to see just what's happening with our dogs when they're in this environment The building is attached to some kind of strange video gambling place - overall this makes it feel a bit sketchy but again, that's just a feeling read more

Ok I think it's only fair to let others know about my experience. I should have done my research more before dropping my baby off here for her first day. After reading the terrifying reviews from others I decided to pick my dog up a couple hours earlier than the actual pick up time, and I am so glad I did. First of all on their IG it says evaluation day is free, but upon dropping her off I was quoted $45 for day care, which I brought to their attention later when I came to pick her up. The girl then told me it was $48 and they had to charge me for daycare regardless of first day, BUT they would offer me a package of $400 and subtract one day for the next time I came in ??? Kind of bothered that they couldn't just give me my evaluation day for free instead of subtracting it from a package I never thought of getting in the future. Then was told that any card payment would be charged a fee. So I tried to avoid that by paying with cash and then was told they don't do cash change so the remainder of my change would then be auto added to my account for the next reservation. Again they are not leaving anything up to choice here, I was immediately contacted by the owner once I drove away, he said my dog did good but apparently bc of her high energy she had to be separated multiple times... isn't that the point of her being there so she can get rid of that energy and play? Every time we take her to HipHounds we hear nothing but good things and we get to see it all through a webcam, so I am a little untrusting with what I was told. He then kept asking me when I was planning on coming back at this point this place just kind of seems like a scam to me, they seem to only care about money. The most annoying part is that now that she's home she has so much energy still, she looks like she's been over fed when she isn't supposed to be fed through out the day and she was deprived of water. While i am not a regular kennel customer and I don't have much to compare them to, I was genuinely impressed by their service and the quality of care provided. Both of my dogs were boarded from Thursday-Sunday last week. When I arrived I was told they could not find my paperwork and I needed to fill out a new folder (I have been 5+ times). Not that big of a deal, but odd. I go out of town and don't hear anything, so I assume all is well. We go home and they are both worn out (from all the playing I thought). I come home from work on Monday to 2 bedrooms and a living area of my house completely covered in watery, soaked-in dog poop. Turns out my smaller dog has a viral infection from either 1. stagnant or dirty water or 2. infected feces. He also has a bacterial infection on his stomach from laying down there. He did not have this issue prior to boarding and has not been anywhere he could have contracted it. It is now Wednesday night and he is starting to improve after meds, but from the carpet cleaning, vet bills, and boarding cost (which you will not get refunded) this boarding will cost over $700. I have called a few times and left messages for a call to be returned. Nothing. Find another spot down the road for a few extra dollars. It will save you in the long run. Edit: Add conjunctivitis on there too. Still no call back. read more

Foxy Roxys is awesome! Love the idea of a cage free facility where my dog can get plenty of exercise and tire out before I've gotta pick him up! On top of that the grounds are kept clean and tidy how I like a good puppy play area to prevent a dirty dog! Would highly recommend boarding here!! I had been having a hard time finding a daycare for my chow chow puppy--I had noticed the start of some dog and people aggression as well as reactivity to any noise outside of our apartment. Totoro was enrolled for about 3 weeks summer 2021 and even after the first week there was a significant change. He had learned how to properly interact with dogs and ignore distractions at home and on our walks. I learned how to handle situations that made him uncomfortable. Over time he grew excited to be there and even became friendly with the trainers and owner. The working dogs they have on site are life savers as well! Every single person that works there, especially the owner Ali was nothing but kind, accommodating and knowledgeable and I can't praise this place enough!!! read more

It's sad to write negative reviews for a place that you trusted to take care of your baby while you were away. My dog was boarded there for 4 days and when we picked him up he was given to us reeking of urine, covered in old mud from head to toe and also had feces stuck in between his paws and on his behind. My dog is a pug, so feces does not stick to fur unless he literally was laying in it. He had a horrible rash on his stomach and was crying all night at home because his paws were raw and could barely walk. We took him to the vet the next day and I spoke personally with Ali and another staff member (can't remember her name) telling them we are taking our dog to the vet because he had a horrible rash and was in pain. Our concerns over his appearance and why he reeked of urine and had feces on him was dismissed and assured, "Our staff would never do that" and he was wiped down on a daily basis. Absolute lies. I also received two different stories regarding if my dog was kenneled or not, since I demanded as to why my dog reeked of urine and had poop on him in several places. Seems to me that either he was laying in it in a crate or kennel, or the area he was roaming in is not being cleaned. I sent pics and they were dismissing it saying he must've had an allergic reaction. Overall, a $200 vet visit determined he has a bacterial infection on his belly and paws due to his recent environment he was in. The vet told us definitely having feces stuck to our dog and being exposed to urine on the ground or a kennel over long periods of time without being cleaned can be the cause of his infection due to bacteria in urine and feces. My husband attempted to get a refund for our visit, but we were declined. This is not how you treat customers nor the dogs in this facility. I would welcome the staff to reach out to me to refund our time there, as that's the right thing to do. I would even consider taking this review down, considering how much I paid to have my dog "cared for." They would feel the same way if their dogs were given to them in the condition my dog was presented to me. The parking lot is also super littered with junky cars and sketchy people walking in and out at all times of the day. Clearly a representation of how the business is run- they don't care. read more

My Dog is dead after being boarded here. I boarded my dog for 4 nights. I called on the 2nd night to check on him and was told he was fine outside all day playing with the other dogs. I told the man that he needed to be inside in the AC by himself. He promised to send a picture and never did. I picked him up on the 15th @ 1:40p and he was outside and wouldn't come out from under a table, in a side yard all by himself. I had to go outside through all the many dogs there to get my baby. He was struggling to breath, overheated and dehydrated. I live 2 min from this business. I got him home and he was still struggling so hard to breathe his tongue was blue. I immediately called the vet and drove him to the vet 5 min away. At 2:04 They immediately sedated & intubated him and a machine was breathing for him. He never recovered and died around 7pm this same day. . This place had instructions to keep my dog inside in the AC. It was promised he would be kept in the back room by himself to avoid over stimulation from other dogs that agitate him and have the side yard to himself for short potty breaks. They had instructions on care & meds to give him that they returned with the same amount of pills. They clearly didn't even look at the instructions or have adequate staff coverage to manage these things. My best friend is dead because of their lack of care and follow thru on care instructions. I don't recommend this business for your dogs. Furthermore my 6 mth old puppy was there too and she suffered from the same lack of care. She was dehydrated and has been sleeping right now from exhaustion for the past 29 hours straight with 2 bathroom breaks with extremely bad Diarrhea. She had been bitten on the face and had a tooth hole in her neck and a scrape down her mouth. No one called me to tell me she had been hurt. She shouldn't have been treated like the "pack" and instead been cared for as a puppy. They clearly have one method to wear the dogs out completely in the heat outside all day so they sleep all night long. They also promised to send pictures or post everyday on Instagram they did not do this either. They posted 2 hours after I picked up my dogs and not 1 picture or video of my sweet Jake. Their lack of care and follow thru has cost our family so much. Nothing can fix their carelessness. Don't use this business. They get no stars from me but I have to give 1 to post. read more

My dog spent 4 days there late December. First, this place is expensive, but we were desperate for a boarder. Second, when we picked him up, the dog was absolutely FILTHY! So he needed to go to the groomers asap. Thirdly and most importantly, THE DAY AFTER picking him up he had to go to the vet. The vet said he had a severe bacteria infection on both back paws where his black pads were raw pink. So in summary, high boarding price (paid $70 a day), a trip to the vet, a trip to the groomer and cost of medications make this a bad experience! You've been warned!!! read more

I stopped bringing my dog here after he was bitten for the third time. Because of the convenience of drop off/ pick up anytime and the unlimited monthly pass, I ignored things. Each time there was an incident, I didn't find out until I went to pick him up. The first couple times, I assumed it had happened just before I arrived, but by the third time I realized that was not the case. There was also a time I came to pick up my dog and he was alone in a room with poop. My dog never has accidents. He will literally try to jump out of a moving car so as not to have an accident inside of it. He must have been alone all day in there. I spoke to the owner and he said it was the fault of an employee who had been dealt with and it wouldn't happen again. I asked that they please contact me if they didn't feel comfortable with him playing with the dogs there because this was meant to be enrichment. He could just as easily be on an adventure with me or at home. I'm not sure how they can claim to be cage free when there are cages everywhere. My dog would be put in a run by himself, while dogs were in the yard playing. I brought my dog to Foxy Roxy because I adopted a large, high energy dog and I wanted help with his reactivity and to help him get out some energy. He would come home overstimulated and became more reactive. That being said, he has never been aggressive to another dog with me. Because of his energy and size, some dogs are grouchy to him, but he never reciprocates bared teeth. I'll never know what actually happened the days I brought my dog to Foxy Roxy, but I feel guilty that I ever subjected him to it. And that I brought him back after the first sign that it wasn't what it was described to be. I have deep concern for the dogs that still attend, especially in this summer heat. To reiterate, my dog was attacked 3 times here and I was never contacted to decide if he needed veterinary care. Also, the owner breeds his dogs there. I was surprised at the conditions they were kept in. The owner is a hustler, and I say that with respect. He knows how to talk to people, and he is trying to make money. I admire him for that. I just am not sure he should be working with dogs. And I want people who are potentially bringing their dogs to him to know what they're getting into. I have an 80lb male German Sheperd and needed to board him for a few nights in Austin. The staff was awesome in greeting us and getting to know my guy and what he's like. He was carefully introduced to "the pack" and supervised before he was allowed the freedom to play with the other dogs that were either being boarded or in doggy daycare. There were zero issues, and with at least 20 dogs interacting, ranging from Pomeranian to Great Dane, everyone got along amazingly well! No snarling, growling or snapping...so clearly each dog had been screened for social temperament, which I very much appreciate. All of Bodie's "friends" were either spayed or neutered, and also on heartworm/flea treatment, so I didn't have to worry about him coming home with baby momma drama OR fleas! My golden doodle puppy Freddie jumps out of my car the minute I open the door and runs into Foxy Roxy's tail wagging 100 miles per hour. This is a dog that normally takes minutes to get out of the car. She absolutely loves it here and comes home happy and tired. The staff are all super nice and give me updates on how she did each day. Freddie has done doggie day care and boarding and sometimes I think would prefer to stay with her doggie friends a bit longer to play. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!! This was the first time I tried a doggy day care that wasn't in someone's home. My dog caught two respiratory infections there, and I found out she has a condition where her trachea collapses when she catches these types of infections or kennel cough. I explained the situation to Ali and Danielle and both agreed that I should get a refund for the visits I hadn't used since the vet recommended that after my dog's trachea collapsed for the second time that she not spend time in a place that has lots of other dogs. I waited and waited, but no refund and no returned phone calls. Finally I got Ali on the phone and he said he would not return my money because he needed to pay his employees. Wonderful place to board your dog! This was my first time ever taking our dog to be boarded, so I was very nervous. The owner put me at ease when they talked about safety and screening to ensure my dog would be in good hands and also be safe around other dogs. Penny was shy at first around the others, but by the next day she was having a blast with the other dogs. I usually refrain from taking the time to write reviews, but this time I feel I need to share my experience with this place for the benefit of others, especially, because the amount of positive reviews for this place is misleading. If you care for the well-being of your pet, be careful with this establishment. I used this place for day and night boarding for about six months. I liked the fact, as the many positive reviews say, our dog was able to play freely with about 20+ dogs cage-free. Everything was fine, until something happened; unfortunately, all it takes is one time. One day I'm at work and receive a call from one of the owners saying that my dog had to be taken to the emergency vet clinic with a deep laceration on her chest. According to the owner, it was a scratch from a playful scuffle with a Great Dane. Well, the vet had another explanation. In fact, my vet listed it as dog bite trauma. The Foxy Roxy owner was apologetic and did not charge us for that day. However, the little incident not only cost us about $400 in surgery bills, but it also has traumatized our dog (a $28 fee waiver and apologies are just not enough). When I asked the owner what he intended to do with the aggressor dog, the contradictory response I got was that since no one saw what happened, they couldn't do anything about it. On top of it all, I guess I'm just supposed to absorb the cost of surgery and the trauma to my dog. Be extremely careful to study the contract they give you and the dog to staff ratio. When we used the facility, it was consistently at least 20+ to 1. Plus, all the dogs are thrown together, without any regard to size or aggressiveness. It is understandable that things happen when you throw a lot of dogs together, but the blatant lack of assuming fitting responsibility on the part of the owners is not just unprofessional, it is shameful. read more

Our sweet girl Etta is a Great Dane just under 2 years old and full of energy! We take her to Foxy Roxy's every Friday to play with her friends, and she absolutely loves it. The staff is great, and they treat her just like their own. Hilde even told me she read her a book during nap time once! Etta comes home completely pooped at the end of the day. I truly notice a difference in the amount of energy she is able to expend here compared to other day cares that don't do the "free range" thing. I can't say enough great things about Foxy Roxy's.
