I think that they didn't offer me a regular dinner table because they thought I either was not eating dinner (so early), or because I'm not a local. Stumbled on the little restaurant located in one of the many squares in Barcelona. We saw a number of people dining there and decided to try. We went around 2pm approximately, so the only menu available was the tapas. Although there were 6 adults in our party, they were only able to seat us at a outdoor table that only accommodated 4, needless to say, we were cramped but we enjoyed the view. The service was extremely slow but the food made up for the snail pace. The food appears to be cooked in small batches to order as it took almost 20mins to get each plate. The food, however, was delicious! The patatas bravas, the calamari, the chicken strips, the toast...all were well flavored and brought excitement to my palate. I was too famished to take pics. We were extremely hungry so the wait felt like eternity but if you aren't starving and not in a rush, I would recommend this place. read more

This place is fantastic! I was trying to get an outdoor seat at any one of the cafes in this plaza. Fate opened up a table at this cafe and I was the fortunate recipient. I requested gluten free options. The chef explained that the majority of the food did not contain gluten and there was no cross contamination. After trying few starters and main course , I got sick. So either there was cross contamination or gluten in any of their ingredients. Very small selection in their menu. The chef was also pretty rude and not friendly at all. Their staff did not have knowledge about gluten free. My mom got also sick so I just can say that I cannot recommend this place at all. We shared the rice. A most excellent dining experience! We checked on Yelp for restaurants near the Barcelona Hilton and Fragments Café popped up. It rated very well so we decided to give it a try. It is a very short walk from the Hilton. When we arrived, we found a very busy and hectic restaurant with lots of people around. We should have called for a reservation, nevertheless, we were able to be seated very quickly. The staff was very friendly and helpful despite some language barriers. The food was most excellent with a wide choice of entrees and tapas. We settled on the linguine and "faux" risotto, both of which were most amazing. This was small hectic restaurant was a short walk from our hotel in a alley just past a hidden square. Ideal location. We didn't make a reservation we just walked up. They had outdoor seating in the back not on the sidewalk. They run the restaurant with a classy feel even people are dressed casually. It's quite professional and efficient. Got a small table with a shared bench where we could watch the kitchen. Ordered apps and entrees and just like my fellow yelpers said...it was all artfully presented and deliciously exciting to the palate. Would go back in a heartbeat. This restaurant was close to our Airbnb, so we decided to try it because we didn't feel like hopping back on the metro to find a place to eat. What a gem! The staff was welcoming and friendly, the service was perfect, and our waiter suggested excellent items from the menu. The first night we enjoyed the tuna, the faux risotto (orzo in a cream sauce with mushrooms), and rigatoni. Everything was so good we decided to eat here again the night before leaving Barcelona. When we came back the second night we found everything even more delicious! Our daughter enjoyed the chicken broth starter with slow cooked egg and quinoa, and we ordered the harbor market fish and the risotto again because it was so good. We also had the steak and potatoes which was world class. I will be thinking about the mushroom orzo "risotto" for a long time, and wouldn't hesitate to come back. The steak with frites was delicious but, it was the mushroom faux risotto with shaved truffles on top that was so delicious that I savored every bite! Also, the tiramisu was pretty incredible too! We stumbled upon Fragments on our first night in Barcelona. If you are looking for the type of service you get at a chain in the US, them you will be disappointed. But if you are looking for an authentic experience, this place is a must. I had a direct view of the kitchen, & watching the head chef run the show. We stayed at the Hilton nearby and they recommended this place. When we got there we learned that to eat here people would book 2 days in advance. We didn't have a reservation so we waited for about an hour and a half. It was totally worth the wait and it worth it as the food was excellent! The waiters are very friendly and attending our inexperience of choices. If you're in Les Corts or on the Av. Kavita nailed this place--it's quite the opposite of touristy. Expect no English on the menu. Expect to have a hard time communicating with the staff in English. Also expect to have amazing, unique food made with an intention to craft. We ordered something along the lines of 'mixed tapas' for our group of 5. Their baby calamari stew had really tender calimari, but the prize winner for me was the mushroom risotto--creamy with a hint of truffles in the aftertaste. Their burrata was amazing in a way I can't put my finger on. Maybe it was really fresh? Maybe the cheesemaker had some secret technique? I don't know, but it was amazing. We had the most amazing muscles and the most amazing gnocch in cream saucei!!! My husband at all the juice from his muscles like it was soup until I asked for some bread. Then he weird his bowl clean. I also cleaned my gnocchi bowl of all the cream sauce. Dessert was black cherry crumble for him and Belgium dark chocolate cake for me. Sure, they had every kind of dried heart disease sausage but they also had fish and things not named pig. Excellent sea bass. Excellent, like on its own, separate from the thrill of finding it there. If you want to experience non-touristy Barcelona, this is (one of many) place(s) to go. Chances are you'll be in the area shopping at L'Illa, and if you follow the signs for Placa Concordia, you can't miss it. The menu is comparable to those of other bars/restaurants in the area, but what sealed the evening for me is the ambiance of the area - from the young kids playing gleefully in the square while their parents caught up on gossip, to the collegians debating something in a newspaper, to the couples enjoying their time together - all under the sunny (and later starry) Barcelona sky. Diagonal) on a Sunday after our Med cruise before our flight home tomorrow. In hindsight we should have gotten the hotel concierge to make a reservation, but the wait wasn't too bad. Sat inside for the regular menu, as tapas are only served outside. We shared multiple dishes between 5 people. They had a razor clam special that was very tasty, but the broken burrata salad was so much creamy goodness, we ordered another one. The mushroom and black truffle faux risotto ("faux" because it's actually orzo pasta instead of rice) was simply delicious - and they didn't skimp on the shaved truffle. The tuna was outstanding as well, but the calamari with house sauce was the best one I've had in my life. I don't know what makes it different from the run of the mill fried calamari we've all had a million times, but it absolutely is. The only dish that was just meh was the Salmorjo cold soup, but it was a unique, interesting dish. For dessert we got the tarta tatin, tiramisu, and panna cotta. All were good, but the tiramisu was special. With six beers, two waters, and one hot tea, it was about thirty euro per person. read more

If you are in the mood for an excellent meal and service look no farther. Luckily this place was in walking distance from the place we were staying. The menu offers tapas and large entrees typical of the Catalonia area meaning great calamari dishes, tapas, and stews. We ordered a sampler of tapas to be able to try them all. The sampler came out with: anchovies soaked in olive oil, queso cubes marinated in the chili infused olive oil, cheese stuffed roasted red pepper, a ham croquette, fresh raw salmon in a balsamic sauce and a dollop of cheese sauce. Finally a mixture of salmon and a pimento spread to for bread. The sampler was a huge hit for our table and a few of our favorites were the anchovies, and both salmons dishes. For our entrees we ordered both stews offered on the menu the baby calamari stew and the roasted lamb stew. Both are heavier meals and can easily be shared between two people. The meal was a delicious filling success. I would go back. The location is nicely located in a nice neighborhood that is next to an open courtyard. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating offered both in front and behind the establishment. The outdoor seating out back I would say is more romantic and intimate on those warmer nights for those looking for a nice spot for a date night on a warm evening. read more
