They fool you with their 50% off deals, then try to convince you that it's worth it to pay $400 to frame a picture that costs $50 to reprint so that it lasts. I've never gotten anything framed professionally, but I had two things I really wanted nice frames for. I ended up getting a Groupon, and an Amazon Local deal for two separate discounts - one for each frame. I was surprised at how expensive the total cost was, but the 50% off coupon from their website took a big chunk off. Also, I spent a LOT of time going over different frame options with Samantha at the West Hollywood location and she was SO HELPFUL and patient. We must have gone through about 30 options (and they have hundreds of frame options) that were a combination of ones I thought might look good, and ones that she thought might look good, and I ended up with two frames that I was really happy with...one of the frames, for a large (no glass) map was only about $70 after the coupon. The other one was more expensive, but when I came into the store it was on display on one of their easels, and I didn't even realize it was mine, it was so awesome! Both were done within a couple weeks, and Samantha set my timing expectations up front accordingly. I was especially pleased with the frame on display. The second one, the map, was also a perfect frame for what I had. I can't say that I would spend the money on custom framing every time, but I'm really happy with the work that they did. There are a lot of negative reviews on here, and admittedly, I didn't shop around that much due to their convenient location (they have a little parking lot, too) - but the personal service, and finished product made the price I ended up paying worth it to me. I don't get these negative reviews, I walked in with and asked for the 50% off sale I saw online. Wesley helped me select a good frame- I didn't know what I wanted - we played with different ideas and price points and then I got all 10 pieces framed. They were ready in less than a week (I was expecting them in two)- the workmanship was fine and I was pleased with the price and the service. I liked working with Wesley. I will come back. read more

I had a very unique piece of art from India with writing on the back of it and was at a total loss as to how to frame it. I was shown lots of interesting ways of framing it and with the patience of a saint, the person helping me answered tons of questions and let me get very hands on with designing the final product. In the end I had my beautiful art floating in a glass and gold frame so I could flip the frame over and still read everything on the back. It was done right on time and it couldn't have been an easier or more pleasant shopping experience. I will definitely continue to use FrameStore as my framers!... I came in last week to get a picture framed last minute - it was an odd size and I had no clue what I was doing. Nancy and Casey were working (I hope I got those names right), and they were both above-and-beyond friendly and helpful. They had great suggestions and opinions without being push-y, and I ultimately went with the cheaper choice of the 2 frames I had chosen. The turn around was very quick and my print was ready when they said it would be. I didn't realize framing was gonna be so $$$ but I was given a huge discount (thank you!) and it turned out GREAT. Beware--This business tapes your conversation with the person behind the desk and has no clearly visible sign to let you know. I brought in a rather complicated job--but nothing a good framer couldn't handle. It was a two sided picture that I wanted in a glass frame so I could switch it around. The person behind the desk was helpful, but when I got the painting home, the back "raw" side of the frame was covered with masking tape to make it look like wood, with a poorly cut spongy mat (I ordered none) and two large hangers on the sides so it was impossible to switch from one side to the other. All in all a terrible job and very expensive with poor quality materials, even with the alleged 60 percent discount. I should have realized that store had problems when I saw their low inventory of frames. The manager said he wanted to make things right but refused to do anything except give me my pictures and money back. I said no at first, so he offered me a $50 coupon for the future, but I think I'll take my watercolor elsewhere after all and get my money back. read more

I went with a Groupon and and found the quality of framing to be outstanding. Marina helped me and I found her customer service to be excellent. She was helpful and creative. I really enjoyed collaborating with her on which frame and mount looked best with my piece. She advised me to pick a frame to match the print/art rather than my decor (which is the opposite of what I had been told in the past!) and she was RIGHT! I've gone back several times since when there was a Groupon or Living Social deal and Marina has never steered me wrong. She has an excellent artistic eye, the perfect sense of what frame is needed and she is very understanding about my limited budget and picked out some fab inexpensive alternatives. She knows what she's talking about and I really respect her judgment. I've gotten nothing but compliments on the pieces I've had framed at The Frame Store and it's solely due to Marina's artistic eye and experience. I have read all the negative reviews and would like to suggest calling ahead and asking for Marina to help. Her customer service is outstanding and I truly respect her opinion! read more
