My husband and I go to Saratoga Springs to relax and shop frequently. My husband has always looked…read moreforward to browsing in the Saratoga Saddlery. However, when we were there in April, 2024, he got bitten by a dog. The clerk and her friend paid no attention and made no effort to control the dog. My husband became upset and they threw him out of the store! When my husband came back to our hotel room, he was clearly shaken by how he had been treated. The dog bit right through his pants and into his leg. We didn't know any urgent care centers in the area, so went to CVS. The pharmacist told us if we didn't go to urgent care, we needed to put a lot of antibiotic ointment on the wound, bandage it and be very watchful about infection. We did not enjoy those days and don't think of Saratoga Springs as fun anymore. I emailed the store about the incident and got no reply. No apology, nothing. All the stores and restaurants in Saratoga Springs will miss us.

Sadly, this store is an outlier. Try as I might to give them a chance, they just keep on disappointing. On this occasion, a decidedly unfriendly middle aged sales woman went out of her way to be unwelcoming and literally made an effort to avoid me. Since I can get Anthropologie brands at an actual Anthropologie and I prefer shopping where I feel welcomed, I left.

Fortunately they did, but it wasn't that many, and they were out of a lot of the more common sizes for some shoes. For its size and inventory, it felt really empty. There were roughly as many customers as employees this afternoon (4 of each). Each employee was working in one corner of the store, leaving the register empty a lot of the time. We stood at the register for quite a while before I finally decided to approach one of them to ask them to check us out. There was a reasonable inventory of men's shoes too, roughly 40% of the space was devoted to that. I'd say if you're willing to look around, there's a decent chance you'll find something of interest, but prepare to spend some time looking and possibly waiting to be checked out.
