My cousin was craving pancakes, so I took her here based on Janet T.'s suggestion. The restaurant looked a little run-down, so I was a bit worried at first. But breakfast turned out to be good, and my cousin loved her pancakes. My aunts also loved their French toast. The fried potatoes were better than the hash browns and had a delicious seasoning on them. The service was great too. My only gripe was the cost of the regular black coffee, and the lack of choices.

The vegetarian omelet with a side of Italian sausage(s) (2) is the bomb. Still loving the fact I do not have to beg coffee nor water refills.

Quality breakfast without any need for pretense. All the classics are here and they do them well. My fav is the corned beef hash and eggs; canned hash that they crisp in a skillet and let it take the shape of the pan (you get a half skillet's worth) with 3 eggs, hash browns and a bread of your choice (or 2 pancakes). It's huge and delicious. Service was quick and friendly, coffee was hot and black and the place was tidy.

Always a pleasure coming in here for breakfast. I also bring family and friends who visit me from out of town here. It's usually busy, because the food is good, the coffee cups stay filled, and the service is right neighborly. My go-to menu item remains their CFS--that's Country Fried Steak. It's consistently well made with just the right amount of gravy. I order mine with crispy hash browns and either egg whites or scrambled eggs. It comes with your choice of carb and I usually opt for the French toast or some sourdough toast so my girl can soak up her runny yolk from her order while sneak bites of her waffles. My other menu favs here include the eggs Benedict and corned beef hash (extra crispy). Cheers to Franco's for serving up breakfast and brunch right!

Service is always great here and the owner always makes her rounds to check on customers making sure they're happy and satisfied. It's the reason so many locals make their way to have a meal here. It's located on the East end of Poway Road and is a little hidden gem in the community.

This place offers breakfast and lunch. I opted for a breakfast meal. I called ahead of time to ask a couple of questions prior to heading to the restaurant. Phone etiquette, friendly enough. My server was friendly and new all the regular customers and what their order was before they even ordered. That was nice to see. I ordered the chicken fried steak combo, but was craving French toast too. I saw they offered a side order of French toast so that was my plan. When the employee asked what kind of bread would I like with my combo, I told her I would like to skip the bread and order a side order of French toast. She said that could be my bread option, at no extra cost. So that is what I ordered. I had ordered decaf coffee and find the flavor was too mild for me. The food arrived pretty quick. The steak was good! I usually order my gravy off to the side because I don't like my crispy food to be soggy but the gravy didn't soak into the steak. The hash browns were nice and crispy. The French toast was one large bread sliced in half. I found it to be yummy, it wasn't soggy in the middle and had a slight crispness on the outside. There is a lot of seating, mostly tables. They don't take reservations but can't accommodate with enough seating. They can do separate checks and if your party is for 8 or more there is a service charge. I would definitely come back if in the area to try some other dishes.

Franco's Flapjacks is a local favorite and family owned business. We consistently come here for their fabulous breakfast and lunch favorites. The restaurant is a very clean, warm diner style restaurant with plenty of seating. The staff here are very nice and welcoming. Their coffee and orange juice are outstanding. My favorite Benedict is San Diego is their spicy Benedict. It comes with 2 large custom English muffins, 3 poached eggs, Canadian bacon, roasted jalapeños and avocado, covered in thick hollandaise sauce. I even add on sliced tomato. Comes with potatoes or fruit. It is Benedict perfection! Their lunch is great too. We loved their burgers and French dip. Overall, this local favorite spot serves up delicious and generous portions of breakfast and lunch favorites.

Couldn't eat the food only the eggs

Worst breakfast I can say I've ever had omg I wanted to say something but not the waitress fault. I think the hash browns were out all day they were so hard and stale I couldn't give any to my son out of all the things I ordered the only thing I could give him was eggs. That was the only thing that was soft enough, and I was worried about even giving that to him horrible, horrible, horrible the waitress was nice, but she shouldn't even let food like that come out. It looked like he just threw it on the plate. how do you have hard pancakes? I've never had a hard pancake.

Quite pleased with the experience. It's what I would expect from a breakfast diner. Simple inside, greeted quickly with an attentive service, even with all of our special requests (add choc chips, chocolate syrup and whipped cream to short stack pancakes, extra crispy hashbrowns and corned beef hash, a plastic cup to take my left over fresh brewed black iced tea and fast service so we could make it back in time for a baseball game at Poway sports complex. I'd say it was a successful visit and I would happily return, especially for the old style corned beef hash. The place was clean, menus were straight forward, no complaints.

Friendly service, fast delivery of our breakfast and food was delicious. Portions are really large, coffee was hot and served in a really great large mug. First time here and would recommend. We arrived at 9am Sunday morning and it was filling up quickly.

    Special Benedict Ham Burrito
    Leira S.

It was super quick and easy to be sat and served. All the servers worked seamlessly together. I ordered the Special Benedict and my accompaniment ordered the Ham Burrito. Special Benedict- This dish was made to perfection in my opinion. From the sauce, amount of food provided, and the flavor notes. Plate was cleared instantly. Ham Burrito- Good as you would expect for a Ham Burrito. Adequate ratio of said ingredients.

Bad avocado used inside turkey/swiss sandwich

Service was ok. I don't recommend sitting in the back of the dining room, I could smell some weird plumbing water smell from the corner and it gets stuffy. I ordered a turkey and Swiss sandwich with a side salad. The sandwich was really good. What I did NOT appreciate was the use of already blackened (rotten) avocado slices. Who puts slices of avocado that have partially already turned black in the middle, on a sandwich? Unfortunately I did not realize this until I was working on my second half of the sandwich and I opened it and immediate cut the black parts out. I notified the server and she gave us a small discount which was nice of her. This is the best photo I wish I would've thought of taking it when I first opened my sandwich.

Visited for brunch (10am) on a Friday. If you use the map directly within Yelp, it might take you elsewhere. Just keep going on Poway Rd until you see Hyundai and make a u-turn at Mossy Nissan. (Or just go past Mossy Nissan if you are coming from the other way) It is located between those two dealerships. You can't miss it as it is right on the side of the rd. They have plenty of seatings inside and also have outside seating if you have fur children to bring. The staff were very nice and quick on their feet. Food came out pretty quickly as well. Their plates are huge and they are generous with their portions even their coffees come in huge mugs/cup. The bacon and egg came with pretty thick and not too salty bacons. Hash browns were crispy and not too oily. The country fried steak was a bit on a thin side but it was nice and crispy but didn't feel dry. The wrap was really huge and the coleslaw that came with it was refreshing as it had apples and pineapples. Overall really satisfying brunch!

Happy to have found another great breakfast place in town!…read more The Original Pancake House has an old school vibe with classic American breakfast options. The menu is extensive so something for everyone. They have a lot of indoor and outdoor seats. They are always busy but they have an online waitlist where you can add your name to. It gives you an ETA of when your table will be ready so you don't have to wait around. Upon arrival of our ETA time, we were immediately seated. Service was speedy and friendly despite being very busy. Our food came out within 15 minutes. The portions were generous so you leave full! The food was piping hot, fresh, and tasty. I like how one of the side options is a stack of small pancakes so I can enjoy my omelette and pancakes :) Definitely worth coming back for some more breakfast goodies!

I've had great experiences with The Original Pancake House over the years, so I was looking forward…read moreto trying this location. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing from beginning to end. The first odd detail came before we even ordered. Our hot coffee was served in thin glass cups that are typically intended for cold beverages rather than insulated ceramic mugs. From a practical standpoint, ceramic retains heat more evenly while remaining comfortable to hold. Thin glass transfers heat much more quickly, making the cup hot to the touch while allowing the coffee to lose its temperature faster. It simply wasn't the right choice for serving hot coffee. The dining room also wasn't particularly enjoyable. The guest seated next to us, along with her son, spent the entirety of our meal loudly yelling into a FaceTime call with the phone at full volume. While I understand that isn't entirely the restaurant's fault, it significantly affected the dining experience. The food and drinks continued to disappoint. The cappuccinos were extremely watery and tasted almost entirely of artificial syrup. We were told they're prepared from a powdered mix with hot water, which explained the lack of richness and espresso flavor. We exchanged them for the house coffee, which was acceptable but very basic. The breakfast potatoes were completely bland, no noticeable seasoning, no crisp exterior, and they tasted like randomly diced boiled potatoes placed on the plate. The Turkey, Avocado, Bacon & Cheese Omelet was the lone bright spot on the menu. It was flavorful, well-cooked, and exactly what you'd expect from a quality breakfast omelet. The Strawberry Waffle, however, was another disappointment. The batter still had a slightly chalky texture, almost as if the dry ingredients hadn't been fully incorporated. The strawberry topping tasted overwhelmingly artificial and reminded me more of the syrup used in a low-end frozen strawberry margarita than fresh strawberry sauce. To make matters worse, the table hadn't been cleaned thoroughly before we were seated. There were still crumbs and food particles left across part of the tabletop. The one standout was our server, Chris. He was attentive, upbeat, professional, and genuinely cared about making things right. Every concern we brought up was handled quickly, politely, and with a sincere apology. Chris is exactly the kind of employee every restaurant hopes to have, and he deserves recognition for his work ethic and customer service. After all of that, the bill came to over $50, which made the experience even harder to justify. Aside from Chris's outstanding service, very little about this visit met expectations. Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this location, and based on my experience, I can't recommend it to others.

I see they've revamped the walls upstairs and seem to have added more seatings too. I noticed they have a water dispensary area which is self serve. There's also a QR code for the menu, but I went ahead and searched the menu online and was helped by Tristan when all my friends have already placed their orders. He made sure to ask how I wanted my eggs done and if I wanted to add anything else. But also orders can be placed using the scanned QR if a server hasn't had a chance to check on your table. I ordered the avocado Benedict with hash. My friends ordered the chilaquiles and french toast, and a bunch others that I didn't get to take a pic of. However, I was able to try the chilaquiles, and the steak on that was so flavorful, the tortilla chips were nice and crispy, and the sauce in the bottom had a slight kick to it but with the mix of crema it helped balanced out perfectly. As for the cinnamon brioche french toast, that was one of the best French toast I've had in a while. Nice and crispy but still fluffy in the middle, with that nice cinnamon flavor, topped with whipped cream and berries. As for my order of the avocado Benedict. You can choose how you want your eggs cooked, and I had mine poached. Can def. Add other proteins to the dish with extra charge, but I wanted to keep it as is. The brioche bread was fluffy and buttery like too, it was great for absorbing some of that hollandaise sauce and yolk. My friends also ordered two bottles for mimosas. We had lychee and mango syrup/puree and it gave such a tropical and summer vibe. We also ended our meal with some desserts. We had the cream puff ube, cake choc brownie, and cheesecake caramel apple. My fav. Out of the three, was the cake choc brownie. I think I would be able to eat two of those if I wasn't full. Just loved how the chocolate mousse on the top melted in the mouth, but also that brownie isn't the typical brownie texture. It has a crisp to it. The mousse and crispiness just melts so deliciously together. I should've ordered another for takeout. Service was great despite it looking busy. Food didn't take too long to come out either. But we also did dine in at a decent time too. We had such a good time, especially for my friends who tried it out for the first time. I see they also have a dinner menu now. Maybe we'll come back to try that next time!

This is a must try, and when you do, you will come back!…read more I'll tell you what it's not often that I leave a review for a place, but this little gem is tucked away right off the 15 before reaching Escondido from Downtown. The first three things that came to mind after dining here were high quality ingredients, the customer experience/ambiance, and attention to detail. Eddie who I believe is the gentleman who runs the place was my "cashier" he provided the two recommendations photographed below (I am not a photographer) but I can tell you they were both out of this world. The Prosciutto & Fig, Toast and the Allen's Tuna Cool and Tasty. The staff was warm and inviting, and though this is a coffee shop, they came around table to table, customer to customer and asked how they were doing, and if there was anything they could do to make the experience better. You just don't see that in a coffee shop. This place is an entire experience and it's clearly built around highly effective culture. I will drive out of my way to come here, I discovered this place on a whim and will now be regular. If you get a chance, whether you're a local, or someone just visiting "Cali" give this place a try you won't regret it, ask Eddie about his story of how this place got started with him and his three daughters. I'd be willing to bet you'll add it to your rotation and become a regular yourself.
