    The benedict
    Anna D.

Had brunch here yesterday on a Wednesday. Literally, middle of the week, and it was packed! Line out the door, but inside, it was surprisingly spacious...and LOUD. You order and pay up at the counter, they hand you a number stand, then hunt for a place to sit. There were groups of people hanging out and "brunching", while others were alone working in laptops. Honestly, I wouldn't be able to concentrate in there with all the noise. Anyhoo, I ordered the benedict, which came with a side of potatoes. Looked very appetizing! Unfortunately, I found everything to be on the salty side, especially the potatoes. My friend ordered their breakfast "burrito" filled with veggies and a protein of sorts (please look up the menu to find out what is inside). The burrito was more like a wrap, so not your typical burrito, but it was tasty! It came with a spicy sauce on the side and fruit. It didn't really need the sauce because the burrito was pretty flavorful; but if you wanted a extremely slight kick, add the sauce. I also took home a rolled Nutella pastry. It was very rich, flaky, and drizzling with Nutella. I ate it (only half) when I got home and I remembered the guy asking if I wanted it warmed up. I should have done that. Overall, it is a great place to meet up with friends and chat up a storm. Trust me, no one will hear your conversations. Would I come back? Sure. Although it is pretty far, I would probably try one of their drinks and something else on the menu, and maybe ask for no salt on the potatoes.

Nutmeg is a really cute spot to enjoy a nice breakfast or brunch. There are plenty of food and drink options to choose from on their pretty large menu. On my visit to Nutmeg, I had the opportunity to try their egg breakfast - a classic. I ordered the eggs over medium, which can be hard for some to get right - but they were perfectly done here, which impressed me! The bacon was also perfectly cooked. Sadly, other than those two items, the rest left me wanting a bit more. The breakfast potatoes were bland and could have used much more seasoning. They gave me a nice portion of them on my plate, but I didn't end up finishing them as they were a bit lacking. My added sausage patty was where they put all the salt as it was a bit over salted. And the Italian soda I had to wash everything down with lacked the sweetness it really should have had. I just found the food flavors to be unbalanced.

The stuffed French toast is delicious. The stuffing is not overly sweet but perfectly rich. The bacon is always cooked well. The drinks are where I'd say the quality is lacking. Italian soda was luke warm, flat, watered down, lacked flavor. But the food, ambiance, and staff is amazing.

    Omelette Florentine

All you need here is their warm coffee cake topped with whipped cream and a cup of coffee. The slice is huge--easily enough for three people to share. I also enjoyed the Egg Florentine plate, which came with house potatoes, a side of fruit, and toast. Plenty of indoor seating, along with some outdoor options, makes it a great spot to sit and enjoy your meal. The only downside is they close early.

The girl who took our order acted like helping customers was a huge inconvenience. I politely asked, "Hi, how are you?" and she responded with, "I'm great, what would you like to order," in the coldest, most robotic tone possible. No smile. No thank you. No "how about you?" It immediately set the tone -- unfriendly and unwelcoming. I ordered a cinnamon roll and specifically asked if it was possible to get one of the middle pieces since the outside ones didn't look as good. She said yes -- but I still received an outside piece that was thick, dry, and lack of cream on it. Zero effort. Banana Foster stuffed French toast: 10/10 At one point, I went to the other side of the cashier area to grab a plastic fork for my daughter. Two employees saw me standing there and couldn't be bothered to ask if I needed help. I found the forks myself and grabbed one. When I asked the same girl who took my order if the forks were clean, she responded with a rude tone: "Yeah, but just ask us next time so you don't reach over." I was honestly caught off guard -- I didn't reach over anything, and even if I had, the attitude was completely unnecessary. The place is very spacey with seatings inside and outside.

    Spicy Corned Beef Hash
    Jason Y.

...craving something hearty and this hit the spot. corned beef hash was legit--a bit crispy, tender inside, and not overly salty like a lot of places tend to do. eggs were cooked just right too, yolk still rich and runny, tying everything together. english muffin was perfect for mopping up whatever's left on the plate. portion a bit undersized but a solid brunch option and I'd definitely come back.

Nutella rolled croissant- look at all that nutella!
    Allyson D.

Busy lunch spot on a Friday and understandably so. The cafe and bakery has some hits and comfortable seating. I ordered a breakfast quesadilla which had soyrizo in it, plus three little pieces of fruit. The hot sauce provided was not spicy. I also got a Nutella croissant and wow-y. I thought I loved Nutella, but maybe I like pastry dough more? It was a good amount of nutella, and dare I say, a bit too much. It definitely a treat.

    Snickerdoodle pancakes

Friendly staff with lots of gluten free options. Banana coconut muffins are moist and delicious. My friend had the snickerdoodle pancakes and ate every bite.

This place can get very busy during the weekends. They only take reservations for a group of 8 or higher. This I learned while placing the order at the counter. But I had already called them to reserve table for 4 of us and someone on their end confirmed it. Nevertheless, they still accommodated us and told us the criteria for reservations. I ordered Omelette Florentine. I liked how it had a balance of couple eggs, couple slices of grilled sourdough, fried potatoes with tomatillo sauce and even fruits on the side. It was a healthy meal but the omelette tasted pretty bland. A little seasoning would make it so much better. Maybe I'll try their bakery items next time.

Nutmeg Bakery & Café has a cute vibe--very vintage café feel with wooden furniture, handwritten chalkboard menu, and lots of artisanal touches. The space feels warm, relaxed, and welcoming, with the kind of charm that makes you want to get coffee and chat for hours with friends. It's got that perfect brunch spot energy. We tried the chocolate croissant, but it honestly reminded us of the ones from Trader Joe's--and you can get a whole box of those for the same price. So, not super impressed there. The blueberry pancakes, on the other hand, were amazing--fluffy, light, and probably some of the best we've had. The Nutmeg Scramble had a unique combo of goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes, which was flavorful if you're into that kind of thing. Personally, I'm not sure I'd order it again, but I appreciated the creative flavors working together. The biscuit that came with it was pretty dry, though, and didn't add much to the plate. One downside about the experience was also the lack of information about ingredients--especially for someone with a group who had dietary needs. I asked if the gluten-free items were also yeast-free, and the staff wasn't sure and couldn't get any info on it. It would be super helpful if the pastry chef left a list of ingredients somewhere for transparency. That felt like a bit of a miss for an otherwise thoughtful spot.

    Cinnamon roll

I came for brunch on Sunday with my friends and it was crowded so be prepared for a little bit of a wait. Parking was easy since it's in a big plaza. They have 2 separate rooms with plenty of small tables. I got the capri panini. It had chicken breast, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted garlic, pesto, and mozzarella. It also came with potato chips that look made in house! It was really good and filled me up enough that I had to take half home. We also shared the cinnamon roll. It looks like it would be SUPER sweet with all the frosting on top but it wasn't as sweet as it looks. Which was perfect for us!

    Vegan Scramble
    Thea M.

Great menu variety and fresh baked pastries and plenty of spaces to eat inside. I always get the vegan scramble, it is very filling and the perfect meal after a good hike. You order and pay before sitting down, and they bring your food to you, which is a great system for large crowds. The table we sat at was sticky, not sure if it was the lacquer on the table or it if was not cleaned well enough. The delicious food and service will always make me come back and bring my friends.

But hidden gems are usually called hidden for a reason. I walked in and asked what their most popular sandwich was. The guy recommended the California Club, which happens to be one of my go to sandwiches anywhere, so I told him to make that and add pickles because let's be honest, you gotta have pickles. Now I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, the guy making the sandwich took a sweet time. I mean almost a solid almost 10 minutes, and at one point I caught myself thinking, "This thing better be incredible." Well... it was incredible. Absolutely worth the wait. Fresh bread, stacked, flavorful, tactical, and one of those sandwiches where after the first bite you immediately stop caring how long it took. In fact, after the baseball game I went back a second time and grabbed a Cobb salad for my wife. Of course I had a few bites as a delivery tax. That thing was tremendous too. When I picture a really good Cobb salad, this is exactly what I want. Packed with egg, bacon, avocado, and just the right amount of blue cheese. Not skimpy at all. The salad also took longer than expected, but honestly I'd much rather wait a few extra minutes for food that's made right instead of rushed garbage. Well done. Easy five stars.

I ordered the avocado Benedict with hash. My friends ordered the chilaquiles and french toast, and a bunch others that I didn't get to take a pic of. However, I was able to try the chilaquiles, and the steak on that was so flavorful, the tortilla chips were nice and crispy, and the sauce in the bottom had a slight kick to it but with the mix of crema it helped balanced out perfectly. As for the cinnamon brioche french toast, that was one of the best French toast I've had in a while. You can choose how you want your eggs cooked, and I had mine poached. Can def. Add other proteins to the dish with extra charge, but I wanted to keep it as is. The brioche bread was fluffy and buttery like too, it was great for absorbing some of that hollandaise sauce and yolk. My friends also ordered two bottles for mimosas. We had lychee and mango syrup/puree and it gave such a tropical and summer vibe. We also ended our meal with some desserts. We had the cream puff ube, cake choc brownie, and cheesecake caramel apple. My fav. Out of the three, was the cake choc brownie. I think I would be able to eat two of those if I wasn't full. Just loved how the chocolate mousse on the top melted in the mouth, but also that brownie isn't the typical brownie texture. It has a crisp to it. The mousse and crispiness just melts so deliciously together. I should've ordered another for takeout. Service was great despite it looking busy. Food didn't take too long to come out either. But we also did dine in at a decent time too. We had such a good time, especially for my friends who tried it out for the first time. I see they also have a dinner menu now. Maybe we'll come back to try that next time!

OMG... it was SO good! Easily one of the best spring rolls I've ever had. They made it with their amazing lemongrass beef, and the combination was perfect. I came back this morning to pick up bánh mì for my coworkers as a lunch treat and asked about the Surf & Turf Spring Roll again. Turns out I had originally seen it listed under the vermicelli bowl section, not the spring rolls. Thankfully, they were happy to make it for me again. Honestly, they should add a Surf & Turf Bánh Mì and a Surf & Turf Spring Roll to the regular menu. They would absolutely become my go-to order every time! Great food, friendly staff, and consistently excellent service.

After hip hop dance class, I was hungry so I swung by here as the dance studio and this place are…read moreso close to one another, sweet! Same guy who helped me last time was working again tonight and was again super kind to me. He asked if I wanted a drink with my banh mi, I had to pass. I love Vietnamese coffee but at 7:30pm, I cant have any caffeine or else I'll be bouncing into outer space with all the energy. I will get this next time when I come in earlier! I ordered the #1 Cali special and it was literally ready in 2 minutes! And for $8, I don't know where else you would get a bargain like this and the banh mi is delicious! I need to try other items next time I come thru as so much on offer here! Solid spot and please come support local and not some big chain nonsense!
