Woohoo! This is probably the best food that I've had in this town! VIsiting for a 3-day weekend, I've already eaten here twice. First time had the Salmon (pan roasted salmon glazed with sweet Thai chili sauce served over jasmine rice with cool Asian slaw and a red curry cream sauce)...and oh my goodness...it was soooo delicious! I was a little skeptical at first being so far inland, could the fish really be that good? YES. They fly in fish fresh everyday if I'm not mistaken. I just wanted to lick the plate clean. Then I went again and got the Honey Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich (homemade honey pecan chicken salad served on a fresh toasted roll with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion on the side), and again, this plate was just as amazing. My friends who live in Bartlesville say that all the other dishes are just a great and have yet to come across a dish they haven't liked. Food quality is great, service was outstanding, and staff was very attentive. Little things like asking the waiter about how spicy the green chile was...he offered to bring out a sample for me to try to make sure it wasn't too spicy since I was concerned if my taste buds could handle it. This place! Brought the boyfriend here for a birthday dinner and it didn't disappoint. We got there about 5:45 p.m. after reading the tips that the wait can be a bit long after 6 p.m. (especially on Friday/Saturdays) and only had about a 15 minute wait. Luckily, there was room at the bar, so time passed quickly. Bartender was friendly, knowledgable and service was quick! The food was on another level. We started out with the calamari, which was lightly fried and had a cool asian slaw underneath. Neither of us are particularly fans of any type of slaw, but we even liked it! I had the salmon, which is served on rice with a light red curry. Not something you expect to see in Bartlesville (sorry, Bartlesville!) and it was to die for. I'm a petite one, but I definitely cleared my plate. The boyfriend had the green chili burger and house-made chips. I'm very particular about chili verde... and they knocked it out of the park. The pieces of pork in the chili that were atop of the burger were tender, flavorful and darnit, I wish I had gotten the burger. But I didn't, since I'm gluten intolerant, which reminds me: lots of great gluten-free options. Nearly all of the entrees (excluding the burgers) were GF, so I was thrilled to actually have a wide variety of delicious items to choose from. The ambiance is lovely. Tables in the back are a little close together, but we had no issues hearing each other, having nice conversation and admiring the artwork on the walls and bikes on the ceiling. Hip crowd, too. There were families, younger couples, tattooed folks abound. A great variety! All of the staff was prompt, friendly and always made sure your glass was full. The food and service was absolutely superb. The burger and fries were perfectly seasoned, the ingredients were obviously fresh! The reasons for 2 stars have to do with procedural. Never before have a been to place were i was required to have cheese on a sandwich! I was incredibly excited to have the pork sandwich only to be informed i could not have it w/o cheese. When it comes to places to eat in downtown Bartlesville, the discussion seems to start and end with Frank & Lola's, everyone seems to agree that this is the pinnacle of Fine Dining in DT B-ville. Lunchtime, let's go! If going for lunch, get there early because the place isn't huge and is always packed at lunch. We walked in and got a table right away, but within 5 minutes, walking in and looking for a table for 4 would have meant a wait. Not the end of the world, though. It gives you a chance to soak in the vibe. After being seated, the drinks were delivered as was the menu. The menu here is ever changing, so don't fall in love with something or it may be taken away from you. I've never had to maintain an aloof relationship with the menu at any restaurant, but here it would seem to be vital. Not that you wouldn't find something else just as good on the menu if your entree du jour suddenly fell of the map. I think that maybe the Lola part of Frank and Lola is responsible for this mysterious and sultry attitude towards the patrons. And try as we might, none of us are immune. Well I'm not the world's most passionate guy But when I looked in her eyes well I almost fell for my Lola. Green Chili Burgers! That is what I was suppose to order and that is what I did order. I was also advised to schedule some nap time after I ate it. Kids, I'm a professional foodie, don't tell me how to devour my feast! I've got this with room to spare. We go here every time we are in Bartlesville. Service is always fast and friendly. Ordered the artichoke spinach dip which was so good I could have made this my meal. My hubs and I split the park loin dinner which he said was awesome .. (Sadly the pork was a little tough) the sides potatoes and steamed spinach were delicious. Our friends ordered the calamari as a meal, the meatloaf plate, and the catfish and they all raved about their food. Okay, now we know ... Frank and Lola's truly is as good as it gets in Bartlesville. Everything is made from scratch, by hand, on site. Fresh and delicious! We had hoped to eat here on a Monday night for dinner, but unfortunately they were closed So, we wound up at Sterlings (also pretty darned good - see our review). For lunch the next day ... We ordered a cup of red beans and rice, which was huge for a "cup". It was as good as anything we've had in New Orleans. Then we had the house specialty - a green chile burger - the pulled pork, a chicken salad sandwich and the kids' pasta. All of them were outstanding. Specifics of the green chile burger ... This isn't just a burger with a green chile on it. No, this is a huge open face burger on a buttery bun with cheddar cheese - smothered in New Mexico style green chile pork stew. Absolutely amazing. We'd put that stew up against anything we've had in Albuquerque for sure. And we have to mention the homemade potato chips. They were pitch perfect. Really ... Absolutely everything we had was delicious. The service was impeccable. Friendly and quick. Oh, and the kids meals were free with the purchase of adult entered. But I do remember that my wife ordered a burger made from Oklahoma beef that was absolutely DROWNING in delicious green chili, and my goodness, it was a treat. If you're in Bartlesville, I would put trying that green chili burger up way high on your list of life priorities, and don't forget to mop up the extra green chili with your french fries. There's not a ton of tables but there is a bar that filled up quickly. There are also a few tables outside. The atmosphere is a bit noisy but very relaxed. Frank & Lola's has the best food in Bartlesville. It has a big, but not sprawling, menu of gastropub fare that should have something for everyone. My favorite dish by far was the green chili burger: an open faced burger drenched in a lucious blanket of green pork chili. It's more food than I should reasonably stuff in my face in one sitting, but I do anyway and love it! I've also had their pulled pork tacos, which were excellent save for their coming with too few tortillas. The beer and drink selection is likewise great, with a standard slate of domestics and imports, plus some microbrew specials. Most of the service is top notch, with friendly, informative and prompt staff. A few times I've visited the service was somewhat wanting, however. One of the folks in my party asked to substitute a different kind of cheese on her burger and was flatly rebuffed by the waitress. I understand the kitchen doesn't want to cook custom meals for every diner, but giving your customers the option of subistituting something you already have on hand is something any decent kitchen should accomodate. There were other times the kitchen and staff were less than accomodating as well. The kitchen closes at 9. Period. Most places will give a repeat customer some leeway in order to sell some more food. Frank and Lola's won't. If the food can't be out of the window by 9, they won't seat you. I had the unfortunate luck to come in once at 8:30 with two parties ahead of us waiting to be seated and was turned away. IMHO 9 o'clock on a weekend is an early time to close your kitchen, 8:30 is right out. Sending us away was a clear message about how eager they were to service their customers and it wasn't a good one. But still, one bad incident can't overcome all of the other fine evenings I've had there. The food is excellent, and the service is warm, and accomodating by and large. One fussy server and a silly policy can't overcome that. This is definitely a place you should visit if you like food and find yourself in Bartlesville. read more

If you have ANY food allergies, or just want a different cheese, or none, forget it, they WILL NOT make ANY adjustments to the food as on the menu. Also really enjoyed the chips and the bread pudding. Service can be slow/spotty, but the food is worth it. Be aware that they don't let you do substitutions or "special orders". My request for green chili nachos was denied even though they clearly had the ingredients/ability to make this. Apparently these types of changes to their menu are not welcome. We had a lovely lunch at Frank and Lola's and were definitely surprised by the quality of the food. The service was average, the decor the Oklahoma interpretation of "modern minimalist," but really that's exactly what we expected and it didn't put us off. Also, if this was in metro-Denver, this would qualify as an affordable place to eat. Even in OK, the price seemed more than fair for the quality and quantity of food. -Our green chili burger was delicious, but the burger itself was a bit overcooked for my taste. The chili was also very mild by Colorado standards, we ended up pouring on some hot sauce to up the heat. Still, the bun held up really nicely, the chili was some of the best I've ever had with lots of good texture, and there was a good balance of chili:burger:cheese. -Get the potato chips. Seriously. Hands-down the best "in-house" chips I've had! -We also split the bacon cheese fries. I like my fries a bit crisper, but these were good fries none-the-less. I love that hand-cut fry flavor, where it still tastes like potato... And who can complain about cheese, bacon, and green onions with lots of ranch dressing? YUM! -My aunt and father-in-law both got the chicken salad sandwich, and both were silenced for about ten minutes as they focused on unhinging their jaws to fit the massive sandwiches in. read more

I really like Frank & Lola's. I try to go every time my husband's band plays at their restaurant on the weekends, and the food is always on point. It's a highlight in Bartlesville and well worth the drive for a fun evening date. The service is friendly and fast, and they're good about giving you just the right amount of time when they check in to see how everything is. I appreciate that they actually give me a chance to sample the food before asking me how everything is (isn't that maddening when servers do that?). I appreciate and respect their commitment to serving the food as-is, because they clearly know what goes where and makes everything taste perfect. No, they don't have A1 sauce for the ribeye. No, you can't get a kale salad instead of mashed potatoes. But maybe, when you're at a place where the cooks are serving up some serious food wizardry, that's the way it should be to get a real culinary treat. Last visit, I enjoyed the catfish plate and my husband had the ribeye (which he always gets, because steak). The catfish is incredible - well breaded, flaky and white - perfectly served up on a bed of mashed potatoes and spinach...spinach so good I found myself digging around under the catfish looking for more to add to each bite. I do wish the tables were more well-maintained (some wobble), but the quirky diner atmosphere is fun and casual and takes some of the pomp out of a really high end food experience. I'll be back. I've been to Frank & Lola's dozens of times and have never been disappointed. I'm not even sure what my favorite is, although I probably get the Johnny Burger the most. The Green Chilli, stew and burger are both unique and very good. And this is coming from someone that lived in Albuquerque (where people know what Green Chilli stew is supposed to taste like (thanks Hatch)). The atmosphere is the best in town and later in the evening, F&L's generally has live music and beer specials. However the tangy slaw is similar to what they serve with the salmon, so don't get both. One of the biggest surprises is the ribeye. Excellent and cooked to order for $19. Also if you have a sweet tooth, try the bread pudding. It's a large portion with plenty of buttery sauce and pecans. Sugar overload and wonderful! The restaurant is very small and often crowded. Great food, good prices. Excellent menu and venue. But... Completely inexplicable policy on substitutions. Substitutions are prohibited and I get why. I don't understand why removing an item is considered a substitution and is forbidden as well. The wife and I neither like pico de gallo, and it's included on the pulled pork dinner. All OVER THE MEAT. Scrapping off gets most. How hard is it NOT to scoop it on top in the first place. Be trendy and green, don't force customers to remove something they don't want, especially if it's just going into the trash. This is a large amount of pico getting scooped off and thrown away, so wasteful. It's this and a couple of other "nickel and dime" policy's that keep this from being a regular stop for us. Just came in this time because of a gift card. Hoping for more competition downtown that will "force" them to make a change in their policies. read more

I. Love. This. Place. My two favorites are the Sweet Field Salad with Salmon and the Pork Loin. Other faves among friends are the Johnny Burger, Green Chili Cheeseburger and the Pulled Pork. The quality of food is outstanding and the service is also very good. One other great feature about Frank & Lola's are the daily soups. They have a black bean chorizo that is really great, a butternut squash bisque, clam chowder, beef and barley - they're always changing and occasionally come up with something new. Occasionally they're a little too spicy for me but they're never bad. My wimpiness forces me to pass sometimes. There is always a special on Friday and Saturday night. Crab cakes, swordfish, beef stroganoff, penne pasta with chicken, and many more. Again, I sometimes take a pass because of the spicy factor but I really am a weakling. I love the chips and salsa there but I always get it with ranch dressing because they make it fresh. Some days the peppers are hotter than others but it is always amazing. If this place had craft beers on tap, it would be a 5 star restaurant. Regardless, the food we had and the Marshall Atlas IPA from Tulsa I had was great! My dining partner and I started with an appetizer of chips and house made salsa. The salsa was probably the best I've ever had. The chips were thin, warm and not oily....really really good. I had the "C.C." Burger. It was great. The local beef was absolutely wonderful and the mushrooms were too. Both were very flavorful. The fries were also top drawer. My dining partner had the Plain Burger with cheese. She also found the local beef wonderfully flavorful. She commented that the bun was nice and fresh....I agree. She also thought the fries were really good. The ambiance is way cool and the service was excellent. We're thinking this is the go-to restaurant in Bartlesville! I've lived in Bartlesville for a year & finally ate here last week. We made an attempt months earlier and drove by in times since to find the place with an hour wait, as early as 5pm. Fortunately, the food is quite good and the service is friendly. The menu does not have much in the way of variety. It is mostly salads, sandwiches, and half-pound burgers. If you don't mind standing around to wait for a table, head on over at the peak meal times. Otherwise, opt for an off time and you will get a table straight away. read more

I eat at Frank & Lola's at least 2 or 3 times per week (and have since they opened in November 2008). The food is excellent -- by far the best food in Bartlesville. Everything is made from scratch and consistent, the wait staff is great, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
