On two separate occasions a plumber from this business has turned off water to 16 units of a townhome community. He is servicing one unit. However he gives zero notice to the resident, nor their neighboring 15 units. He does not knock on any doors, this company does not notice the HOA to provides tenants...nothing. Both times I have had my washing machine and dishwasher going which caused a malfunction. When I went out and caught him in his work van to ask him how much longer he advised he was leaving to get parts and maybe some lunch. How considerate. His wife or someone else came to bring shovels and promptly parked in my assigned stall. Inconsideration seems to run rampant in this company. read more

This company is unprofessional! The Bonetti website clearly advertises sewer and root removal services. I called their receptionist (Sheri) to request a plumbing tech to call me about clearing a restricted drainage pipe from my home gutter downspouts that leads to the the street gutter. I was told that a 'tech would call me back within a 'few minutes. No one called me back after 22 hours so I contacted them again. Instead of giving me the opportunity to speak to a professional plumber, (gatekeeper non plumber receptionist) Sheri tells me that the only resolution for my clogged drainage piple is for their company to remove and replace the entire 60 feet of underground pipe under my flagstone walkway leading to the street. This is an assessment made by a receptionist without me ever speaking to a plumber. read more

They said I had to schedule an appointment in the morning so they could diagnose & then go get parts & come back to finish repairs if need be. They came, and after looking at a few things, just left without telling me?? My downstairs neighbor, whose unit they also had to access, had to tell me they left. They didn't communicate to me at all (I hired them), that they were leaving or what the diagnosis with the leak was, but apparently they told my neighbor they had to reschedule for another date? Then I rescheduled for another date. They never showed up on that date. The office said they had the schedule messed up on their end. Apparently they tried to call me early in the morning, while my phone is still on Sleep mode because I am asleep, and when I didn't answer they decided not to come. After they no-showed, I had to reschedule a second time. The technician they sent today, Renee, had been here before. Last time he was here, he hit on me & asked about my personal life & if I had a boyfriend. As a woman who lives alone, I felt very uncomfortable. Today, they sent him again, and now I am very visibly pregnant, and he tried to touch my belly. I called the company to ask they please never send him again. read more

Dispectfully treated by a Gen Z employee while doing his work. I politely asked when the hydro jetting will be over at our building. This employee answered back to me, "What did the paper say?" I thought he didn't understand my question, so I repeated the question. Again, he said "What did the paper say?" I immediately realized he was talking down to me, as he was referring to our building notice about the hydro jetting job. This kid could have politely say that it will be over in 15 minutes, as I saw him drove away as soon as he was finished with the job. My experience has nothing to do with the work but being courteous to customers is part of the job. Bonetti's came to my business to fix a toilet. First, the employee was unprofessional. He had a difficult time with a stripped valve, and in his efforts, swore every five seconds. If it were just me there, fine; I'm a big boy, but there were children present who clearly heard it (my business is a martial arts studio). Second, he left the bathroom a mess. There was grease (or whatever it was) all over the floor and toilet when he left. Lastly, he simply didn't do the job. I noticed immediately how the handle was loose, and was positioned in such a way where you could only flush the toilet if the top was off. I was able to fix that myself, but then it started leaking. When I contacted Bonetti, their offer was to charge me again to come out. I can understand one bad employee or one bad experience. It happens. But when a company doesn't stand by their work, that's a HUGE red flag. read more

I'm on the HOA board for my community and I have family with a plumbing engineering background (I am also an engineer myself but in a different field). I hired Bonetti first for a personal task (several items) to see how they perform their work, and they did a good and professional job on the routine plumbing request and had reasonable charges in line with others in the industry. Afterward, I petitioned them to find a cost-effective solution for a complex water shut-off issue for the board. Of all the vendors, Dan Bonetti had the most professional and well-thought out elegant solution for our board. He understood the problem right away (missing DHRs) and made several trips to our community to analyze the details to find a working solution (all complimentary! since we hadn't signed a work order with them yet), and kept clear communication throughout. He was also one of few vendors that was willing to provide a full solution, including updated water shut-off valve maps so we could provide the homeowners updates for their manuals, and clear labels on the new valves. Our board also used them for hydrojetting services when we felt that they earned our trust and they did an excellent job with that. I will personally use their services again and I wholeheartedly recommend them for your plumbing needs as well. read more

Worst plumbing service ever. I cannot speak for the cost of the service as my HOA paid for it, but essentially they made an appointment to enter my second floor unit TWICE because of a problem downstairs. The first appointment, the tech didn't even spend 5 mins looking at my washing machine to determine where a leak was coming from. In those 5 mins he moved the washer 6 inches away from the wall, pointed at a dirty floor and stated that since he sees "water damage" there is a leak from my washer. There was no issue with it, as I had a professional double check. The second time they came, I wasted an entire day waiting for them to knock, but they never did. I could see from my balcony that the van showed up, but the tech didn't even come inside to look at the issue and instead was hammering at his equipment right outside. My husband and I are undergoing a kitchen renovation and were in desperate need of a plumber to move a [hidden] vent inside our wall so our countertops could be installed as scheduled. He reached out to Bonetti and received the following reply by mistake: "please call this guy and tell him we can't come out until middle or late next week" because "I really don't want to do this work." I had a bad experience with their service. Ironically, they are my HOA's plumber. I had an appointment with them to fix a plumbing issue at my condo. A day before the appointment, Sherry from Bonetti Plumbing called and cancelled the appointment. She indicated that one of their main clients had an issue and their guys needed to take care of it. She told me my appointment needed to be rescheduled. It took me a lot of time and effort to coordinate this appointment with my tenants. One of my tenants had to take a few hours off work to be there for the appointment. In addition and more importantly, since the plumbing work required the water to be shut off in our building, my tenants and I had posted notes on each resident's door 48 hours in advance, notifying them of the upcoming work. All of this would have to be redone based upon the cancellation of this appointment. Their last minute cancellation was totally unacceptable. Sherry from Bonetti Plumbing showed no empathy for all the troubles she and her company was causing me, especially when reminded that the other residents of my building had already been notified about the water being off and that I would have to redo the notification process 48 hours ahead of a new appointment. read more

We called Bonetti plumbing because our HOA referred us to them after our shower had raw sewage coming up. The plumber came in the appointment time and spent about 4 hours clearing out the pipes that were clogged. He said that they was some weird grease ball in the pipe that was clogging the water. He also told my husband that this is something that the HOA should reimburse us for and said the bill would come in the mail. He did a great job and was professioal. The HOA said they could not reimburse us because the bill said that "it was an exclusive use pipe to our unit." So my husband called the plumber to talk to the technician that did the work and was told he would be given the message. About a week later there was no return call so then I called the company again asking for the technician this time I was told they were unable to contact the technician because he was out for the next 7 months as he was hurt. So I asked if there was someone else that I could speak with and she said the manager will call me back. The manager called me back and I said that I wanted to speak to the technician because I needed to get some clarification about what he said and what was written on the bill. He said oh ok I will have him call you in a couple of days because that's when he was coming back. I said oh I thought he would be gone for 7 months and I was told no he is coming back in a few days. The manager also told me that pipes will start to clog around 10 years of use, even though I told him my neighbor who has lived there longer has had no problems. I never got a return call from the technician but when I called the lady that answered the phone said she will return my call. She left me a voice mail saying that the technician said the bill was correct and that it was an exclusive use pipe. Bottom line is if you need to get reimbursed by your HOA dont use this company because it seems like they work for the HOA not you the paying customer! read more

I'm 73, never posted a negative review, but I have to about Bonetti. My toilet was leaking internally; it kept flushing itself. The plumber came out, said he fixed it. He'd come in the afternoon; since the problem was always worse in the morning and evening, when my neighbors in my building were home, I believed him, and paid the fee. But the problem was not fixed. It got worse. My toilet was self-flushing hundreds of times a day. Drove me crazy. I contacted Daniel Bonetti, one of the company's owners. I told him I was sorry to make a fuss. Would he please get back in touch with me? He never did. Why not? What is wrong with these people? Do they think that old people can just get ripped off? A horrible company, in my opinion. Bonetti plumbing came right out and was professional, fast and fixed a severely clogged sink that wasn't ever done completely right years ago. We've used them several times now and the folks on the phone were terrific and efficient and the prices not outrageous. I work for a Dental Office in Castro Valley and have been using Frank Bonetti Plumbing for many years. Up until recently they have really been dropping the ball on their quality and customer service. At the end of 2019 they recommend that they do some sort of flush to remove all the roots and then put a camera through to make sure that all the roots were taken out. They said they could do it in one day but it took two visits, it was not big deal since we could have the office open. Come January 2020 we had a leaky pipe and called them right away, they came out and they did another flush they said it was roots. I contacted their office and wanted to find out how roots could possible grow and block the pipe in a matter of about 4 weeks. We did not think we should have to pay for the last visit because we had already done the recommended repairs. I don't recall who I spoke to it was either Shary/Diana but they sent me to Dan's voicemail they said he would be in contact. Days go by I never hear from him so I call to follow up, the ladies at the front desk said they can forward me to his voicemail and leave a note on his desk. Again no call back so I called to follow up a third time this time they said when he walks in they would make sure to stop him on the way in . Again no call back so I attempted to contact him once again now this time they said he is going to be gone until Monday (the last 3 follow ups where done in the same week why was this just told me). While all this is going on we had to have them come out to do a test so I email shary directly on a thursday to set it up. I ask her in the email to please let me know when they could come out to perform the test so I could let the person in charge of receiving the results know when to expect the results. I never got an email back on when they would be coming by. I call shary that following Tuesday and ask her if she had received my email and she responded with yes and she had sent the results over for me but there looks like some repairs needed to be done. I asked why no one had contacted me about this and she said she didn't know but that Brian would reach out to me soon . Wednesday rolls around nothing from Brian so I called them and ask if someone can please call me back because we want to get the issue fixed once again they mentioned that they will have someone who handles that to reachout to me. Thursday rolls around still NOTHING by this point I have been beyond patient, Diana answers and I tell her not only has Dan not called me but no one has called me regarding the repairs. This time they say Dan is away and so is Brian on some sort on conference. Not sure why this wasn't told to me before since I had been calling that whole week. Since all this had happened I didn't trust that they sent the results of the test to EBMUD, I contacted the man that was in charge of the results and he said that he had not received the results yet. I called Frank Bonetti Plumbing once again and I spoke to Shary. I ask why the results were not sent over she responded with well it didn't pass so I didn't send them even though she had already confirmed they were sent. I had talked to her days prior and this was never mentioned and it took a week of me call thing to find all of this out. Beware of this business! We needed a new gas line for a new range. While checking to see if we had one, we discovered a pipe from our kitchen sink was leaking under our house. Suddenly an elective project became an emergency! A friend recommended Bonetti, so we called and explained our needs. A secretary took our information and told us a plumber would call us back to schedule. 24 hours later nobody had, so we called again. We were booked an appointment for the following day, between 1 and 4 pm. My husband had to miss 1/2 a day's work to wait for them. By 430 nobody had come, nor called! We called in and were told the plumber was running late (no explanation for the lack of phone call) and was on the way. He arrived around 5; my husband's vacation time wasted! Unlike any other plumber or electrician we tried, Bonetti requires $60 up front for the estimate. After we gave him our check and he spent about 5 minutes looking at our kitchen--not even going under the house to look at the leak!--he left without leaving the estimate. Apparently he had to report back to the office. The next day nobody called with the estimate. STILL leaking under our house. We called them at 4pm to find out why--all gone for the day! The next day (now 5 days from our original phone call and 3 days after the house call!) we called them again and left a message that we were going to complain to the Department of Consumer Affairs and the Better Business Bureau if we didn't get our check back. The estimate appeared the following day in the mail. By then we had found another plumber who came right away and changed his job schedule around to get our leak stopped. Interestingly, the plumber we did use charged HALF of Bonetti's estimate! We understand if a contractor is too busy to take on our job. We spoke to some plumbers who were honest and told us they couldn't fit us in for a couple of weeks. These fellows on the contrary were irresponsible thieves! Does good work and is knowledgeable, but will overcharge you. Most recently they charged $200 to come to my condo and check the water pressure. The technician was at my house for less than 15 minutes. They did not perform any work or provide any parts. The bill was paid by my HOA and then passed off to me. When I challenged Bonetti Plumbing on the price of the bill, they told me they would check with their accounting department and get back to me. Can't recommend this company for sewer lateral inspections. They were difficult to schedule, and when they finally made it out they didn't get the report and video to me for over a month. My dad is in the plumbing business, and he told me that the report they sent was completely unacceptable by industry standards - it was just a few sentences. They also sent a video, which initially was a blank CD - so I had to ask for it again. I sent it to my dad, who recommended I get a roto-rooter (which costs about $150), but this company recommended a full sewer line replacement ($5000-6000). read more

They too were booked but the owner took empathy on me and told me it would be late afternoon. At about 1 pm I got a knock on the door. The guy was here to fix it. He got it taken care of, in less than an hour...so price was only what I was quoted. They overcharged us more than 100% (that is, they charged more than twice what the parts really cost at retail) for parts used, even compared to the retail prices at (relatively expensive) local hardware store. We raised the issue at the office, and the company's management refused any kind of refund. Go elsewhere, there are plenty of very good plumbers out there who will not do this. read more
