I knew the Pressure Regulator Valve needed to be changed and the shower stems needed to be replaced. I had 3 other estimates completed for the same job. They range from repiping the entire house, piping from the street, changing the water heater, tearing down walls, etc. Taz Plumbing was the ONLY company that did not try to sell me additional work. There was no up sale after the initial estimate either. The work that was discussed was the work that was carried out. Estimate and total cost were still lower than the other quotes. And some of those quotes did not even include the proper work to satisfy the need. 1 year warranty on the work included. There are a lot of plumbers out there to choose from, and this is only my opinion. But Taz plumbing is the best. Taz was one of several recommended plumbers on Yelp, and I had used him once before when we had a pipe burst. He came out super quick and fixed the problem and did gouge me on price. So when I had this big project (add water and sewage line to an ADU) I was happy to see that Taz came up as an option. Taz plumbing came out evaluated the work and when it came to price he was less than the competition. He is super easy to communicate with, there are no frills. The work was done in a timely manner. Taz had to pivot twice on this project because of the piss poor San Leandro inspector, but Taz made it work and didn't overprice the extra work that was needed. Gee came and diagnosed the drainage leak, and also noticed that the water heater exhaust was not connected to the roof vent! Replaced the leaking pipe, installed a new water heater, and connected the exhaust to the roof vent with a double wall pipe. Completed the very next day after coming to do a free inspection on a Sunday. His estimate was very competitive, considering the other 2 estimates that I received did not include the double wall pipe reconnect, since neither of them noticed it was disconnected. read more

Can't rave enough about Taz Plumbing. I had a major leak from an upstairs shower that was dripping through the ceiling into the kitchen -- classic old galvanized pipe failure in a 100-year-old house. Taz came out himself and had it diagnosed and repaired it the next day. He replaced the failed section with new piping and left everything clean and solid. I was even able to take a shower less than 24 hours after discovering the leak! There's still drywall work to be done -- a few holes had to be cut to access the pipe -- but that's for another contractor. Taz handled the plumbing exactly the way you hope a pro would. "TAZ Plumbing" is a company based in San Leandro, CA. It's service area is the central East Bay area. I found this company using Yelp Projects. I had a dripping shower head, and decided it had to be fixed after I saw my latest EBMUD water usage report. I setup my service request on Yelp, and Taz was the very first response. Thru direct messages, we agreed on a Saturday appt. The tech showed up on-time in an unmarked truck, and politely introduced himself. The tech inspected the problem, and gave me an estimate of $375. But the part was hard to find, and he had to wait for a parts house to open on Monday. On Monday, I had a 9-10am appt window, and a different tech arrived at 1030am. He also surveyed the problem, and went to get parts. But he told me if the parts aren't available, I might have to upgrade the inverter. That might cost up to $1800. Luckily, he got the right part and the problem was fixed. He suggested I upgrade my shower head and hoses. An issue came up with method of payment. The Yelp listing says "accepts credit cards." On August 14, 2023, the tech said they don't accept credit cards (CC). Why? He said the CC machine was stolen, and they can't process cards. He said they accept cash, check, and various forms of electronic payment. Okay, so I had to write a check. While I was writing the check, the tech joked that he "likes his tips in cash." Okay, I have tipped someone who installed a water heater, and I have tipped a plumber who spent hours clearing my pipes. Some refuse the tips. But I'm not going to offer a tip to someone who asks for a tip. Would I use this service again? Yes, but I would ask if they accept credit cards. Taz was absolutely fantastic. Responded to my request almost instantaneously, and immediately gave me a few options for scheduling, including same day or next day. He was on-time, courteous, put on shoe covers before he walked inside the house. I showed him the problem (the knobs that control whether water flows through the tub faucet or into the shower completely broke and was leaking). He quickly diagnosed the problem, explained what he would need to do and what parts he would need. He left and returned with the parts in less than half-hour and finished the job lightening fast. He encouraged me to test out the repairs to make sure I was satisfied. The price was extraordinarily fair, and he stated that there was a warranty on parts and labor and if anything later went wrong, to immediately contact him. I should point out that this problem happened just 2 years earlier, and I asked Taz how the previous repair failed so quickly. He showed me that my previous plumber simply changed the knobs on the outside and did not actually repair the root cause of the problem. Wow. I now have a new favorite plumber I can trust. read more

After moving into our 80 year old house in San Leandro, we have had some sewer issues. Slow and blocked drains, eventually in all of our fixtures. Tried to snake and unblock ourselves but it was clear the issue was further down in the line. The line had become fully blocked and our old house didn't have a sewer cleanout so there was no good way to try to clean out the sewer (could pull a toilet, or go through the roof vent, both have serious cons). We decided the best thing to do was to get a sewer cleanout installed, to be able to root and/or hydrojet the line, and also be able to do a video inspection more easily to get some idea of the condition. Anyway after contacting a few places, Gee and his crew at Taz came out to look and said they could do the work the same day, and for a fair price. They were true to their word, had all the work done the same day, and also cleared, flushed, and rooted the sewer line afterwards. They were also really great at cleaning everything up after the big messy job they had to do, which I really appreciate. I know at some point we will have to start replacing some or all of the sewer line. But for now we have a way to clean it out and inspect it as necessary to keep it flowing, until we can budget for replacement. Gee and his crew were friendly, professional, and just easy to work with in general. I highly recommend them for any plumbing needs. read more
