Ms. Elin was my son's Pre-K teacher, and he absolutely adores her. Under her guidance, he learned all the alphabets, shapes, and colors, and can now count to 20 -- skills I know are often taught in TK. Beyond academics, Ms. Elin always incorporated fun, engaging activities that the kids loved. She also helped my son become more independent with eating, which was something he really needed encouragement in. In the afternoons, when Ms. Elin left, other wonderful teachers stepped in to provide care -- Ms. Silvia, Ms. Christine, Ms. Mary, Ms. Marie and Ms. Nour. My son knows and loves them all. When I once asked my son if there was any teacher he liked the least, his answer was, "no," which says it all!) Last but certainly not least, Ms. Virgine is an incredible director. My son was both a Covid baby (super shy) and a preemie, so I had extra concerns as a first-time mom. One of the main reasons I chose LPG was the smaller class sizes, so he wouldn't be overwhelmed. I was nervous at first, but my worries quickly faded as I watched him grow and thrive. By the time he graduated, he not only had friends in his own class but also knew the names of kids from other classes. Our son has grown so much socially and academically since starting earlier this year, and we feel confident knowing he is in a safe and nurturing environment. The communication Mrs. Cathy provides us is so helpful for our peace of mind. She sends daily updates of our son's activities, meals and answers any questions we may have in a timely manner. The activities are always creative, engaging, and fun. The meals provided are nutritious and delicious. My son is a picky eater but he always comes home with a full stomach because of the healthy meals they provide. We couldn't be happier with our choice of Caring Cubs and are so grateful for the loving atmosphere that Mrs. Cathy and Mr. Phillip provided our family. We recently had to move further away and had a very hard time saying goodbye to Caring Cubs. What started as a positive and enjoyable experience gradually became more challenging for him. He began to struggle--regressing at times, crying during lessons, and frequently reaching for us for comfort. At one point, we were asked to step inside to help him focus without distraction. It was heartbreaking to see how difficult it had become for him, and after some tough weekends, we were close to giving up. However, Rene, Dave and their team encouraged us to stay consistent and trust the process. We took their advice, and within a couple of weeks, everything changed, he began enjoying the water again. Now, at almost 2 years old, he's moved up to the beginner level. He gets so excited that we have to remind him to walk around the pool instead of running in! Watching him progress, splash, kick, and make friends has made weekends fun again. Rene, Dave, and their team are incredible coaches who truly care. They didn't give up on our son and made sure we didn't either. I highly recommend RSL--they are knowledgeable, experienced, and genuinely want the best for every child. I've seen similar experiences with other kids, and my advice is the same: trust the process. The team is not only highly trained but also warm and welcoming--we've even found two babysitters there whom our son absolutely loves!

Things I liked: Your child will SWIM. I think my kids legs…read morefelt like rubber the first day because the philosophy here in both the intermediate and advanced is to just keep swimming! The pool is huge and the instructors send them back and forth over and over! Endurance seems to be the main philosophy. Some of the instructors are very engaging, overall everyone is pretty friendly! Things I noticed Safety is not a huge priority. There is no one on deck keeping an eye out for things the instructors may miss. The first day of class, and multiple after, my kids instructor walked into the building telling the other instructor of the other class to "keep an eye" to which he just kind of laughed and went back to the class he was teaching. Meanwhile she had 4 swimmers in the pool in other lanes behind and the instructor of the other class was faced away from them the entire time. That was my 7 year olds first or second day in the class. I had seen this sort of thing a lot, their instructor would chat with a students mom who was seated in the upper level, she'd face away from the students and just chat. By the 4th class I was ready to let the office know, but then the owner came outside, and held a conversation with the instructor the same way, her back away from the swimmers. My swimmer had been introduced to all of the strokes but I enrolled him to improve his form. He'd taken other classes where there was an emphasis on that. What I found is that there is very little instruction in the advanced class, the students are sent on back and forth several times but only upon request will they be critiqued or given better techniques. It is more like someone standing there somewhat keeping an eye on them and telling them to swim 400 or what not. At one point they had the owner, and at another, her husband and like I mentioned at another point, the other instructor in the other class, "take over" with instructions like "they're doing kickbaord" or "have them do bla" They are not very organized. First day of class the instructor was 5 minutes late. After that the advanced class had multiple people take over. The intermediate class had a lot more consistency, but one of the days Alexis (she did a great job) had to ask the owners husband where her secondary was. She came out a few minutes later , while the class was sorta on hold Things I'm not sure on: The young kids aren't taught to rest float. I've liked other places teach this, in the case that the child knows how to swim but doesn't have energy to get back to shore, or the edge of a pool for whatever reason. I once almost drowned as a kid in a pool right in the middle, I had slowly but surely run out of energy and not noticed til I couldn't keep my head above water. My brother pushed me to the edge. That being said, the rest float is a hard position to get into, so I kinda understand why they don't teach it‍ Overall, i think my kids are stronger swimmers and I'd possibly come back next summer since I trust my kids and I'm keeping an eye the entire time. Its $35 for 30 minutes (so 8 classes comes out to $280) Alexis was very encouraging in the intermediate class and each of the intermediate instructors really pushed the kids, and encouraged them, which I really appreciated:) oh and one more thing, I loved that at the intermediate level, there are two instructors to 4 students! We joined the waitlist right when their director changed, so there was a little mix up about our spot on the waitlist but Ms Amber was super professional and communicative about helping us sort things out and luckily we got in. We're SO happy with our decision, the staff are wonderful and my daughter is so happy to come to school each day. Not only does she love her teachers and friends, but she knows so much of the staff because they all make it a point to build relationships with the kids. Her teachers are the cherry on top, they plan educational and fun activities for the kids, help the kids feel safe and comfortable (especially for nap which I was nervous about)...I could go on forever about all the great things we love about YMCA, I highly recommend it!

There were always new manipulatives such as shapes on a table with light under it, to aid in my daughter's learning process. She was always learning but it was all through play. She would tell me about her friends there. She had a lot less tantrums at home too, because she always had a great day at school! The teachers were so kind and understanding about child development. The cost is competitive and so worth it. The only thing that didn't work for me was that I wanted someone to do all the potty training for me. The potty training was the bane of my existence as a parent because of the stressful experience I had with my first child. My child wanted to take her time, which was my only worry, because I wanted to make sure she was potty-trained by the time she entered TK, and because of my busy work schedule, I couldn't potty train much. They work with the parents to potty train, and because I wasn't ready to potty train her they didn't push it much for her. I would say to most parents in the area- send your kids there and you won't regret it! Compared to what I've seen and experienced with some other amazing preschools, Heartwood was a true gem!

Before I heard about this daycare, I was searching for other daycares around the area. My daughter never smiled at other daycares. She seem serious and just checking her surroundings. Once we checked out Heartwood, as soon as my daughter saw the director and other teachers around said hi to her, she started smiling and laughing.. That was a big win for me! She normally doesn't smile with strangers but she was smiling with teachers and the director here at the daycare. This made me feel like she felt comfortable and felt like the vibe was good for her. I checked everything out and it was as I expected; clean, organized and safe. I loved everything about this daycare. During the first days of drop off, my daughter did cry the first 2 weeks when I left but after that, she was ok. Now, she waves goodbye and enjoys going to school. As a peace of mind, during the day, they send you notifications about her daily activity and any important messages. Overall, this is a great Daycare! I highly recommend it.
