OPEN as of January 2021! Brand new business that I'm happy to support and add to Yelp. So new that they don't even have a sign out front, and we were passing by and curious about this place that we thought we'd stop in and give it a try. Frankie's is a cocktail bar with a select menu of high-end drinks. The head mixologist, Mike, told us that he came from the speakeasy in Carlsbad, so we knew we were in for good quality. We were able to sit at a table on the sidewalk with our dog. The businesses on either side are vacant/under construction but that should change in a few months. This place will be even more great when the Thursday night markets start up again! We ordered the Tropics cocktail, which features gin, and a tequila soda with tajin on the rim. Both were delicious! As part of COVID protocol, a required $1 worth of spiced table nuts accompanied our drinks. Can't wait to come back and enjoy another cocktail! read more

Very small drink selection. The drinks we got were pretty well balanced but leaned sweet. I got something with gin and cinnamon and the cinnamon was overpowering. The bartender that served us was very unpleasant. Working sucks for the working class so no shade but maybe give the guy a break or something when acting like that. He mostly ignored us and when he did come, seemed annoyed and was speaking almost at a whisper. read more

Tried this place out with a few friends a couple nights ago. Cool vibe. Classic cocktail lounge. Great bartenders that know their stuff. They delivered on both their specialty cocktails as well as old school classics that we ordered. I'm a bourbon guy, so I tried the 437 ROYAL ST. (rye, cognac, absinthe, demerara, peychauds), their take on a Sazerac. Very nicely balanced. I followed that up with a Boulevardier and it was perfect. It would be nice if they had some food, but what they do, they do very well. It is a great place to hang out with friends over a cocktail. read more

I've created a social group where we get together every Thursday for the Sunset Market food and festivities. As 9pm approaches we like to have a nightcap at Frankie's, as it's a perfect location, and its interior is beautiful--brick walls peppered with square metal baseplates for style, tasteful artwork illuminating the graceful and sexy feminine, and the manor-like bookcase-style shelves behind the bar that reach the ceiling. The whole bar is a mood, and gives speakeasy vibes. Alexia and Sean are very friendly and memorable, and they're all about great service. Where this bar misses the mark is not having a portable cash register. They used to have that, which was great, as we didn't have to leave our seats and Alexia came over to take our drink orders. Now we have to go up to the bar and wait while they take our orders individually. Incredibly inefficient! The employees also want it back! I don't believe they offer any food service, hence the no stars. but I definitely recommend this place! read more

Why did I wait so long to try this spot?!? Set right in the center of Oceanside just steps from the beach. Probably some of the most delicious and strong drinks I've had in the area in a long time. The scene inside is a very classy vibe, very old school. Definitely a great choice for a date night. Bartender was fantastic and got our drinks just right. Music was also on point!! There is no food that I know of. The service is usually pretty good. Today was frustrating because I came for a drink but the sign said the cocktails were 10$ when in reality it's a specific list that, mind you, was face down till after he had given me a nearly 20$ cocktail that was an overflowing cup of ice that tasted like it could peel off my nail polish. I had to drink it fast to keep from spitting it up. The music is always great. Conversational volume. I'm sure I'll be back but I'll probably ask for a different bartender. Have only visited once but we had a good time here with friends. Ordered a few different cocktails. Servers were nice. We came a little early and were lucky enough to score the big back booth near the restrooms. Prices are a little on the higher end for Oceanside but still under $20. OMG! Frankie's was recommended by the staff at Mission Avenue. Went on a Monday at 5:30pm. The bar was beautiful, the bar top and seats were beautiful. We spent 3 hours there talking with Sean. During that time, Sean described all of the secrets of infusion, masking, flavoring and served what I consider to be the best mixed drink I have ever had!!! The SOUTHERN MOON. Great place! Great atmosphere! Great drinks! Lots of options to choose from with quality ingredients. There is a drink for everyone and the bar tender and the staff are really friendly! I ended up going with the whiskey drink that led to the old fashioned becoming coined the old fashioned as he gave us a quick refresher on the drink's history. My husband and I tried this new spot last night and loved it! The atmosphere is super cool and chill. The staff is very nice. One guy even offered to make sure my donut box got recycled. My husband got an old fashion and I got a traditional whiskey sour. The bartenders really know their stuff. They were very personable. We asked if they were going to have live music in the future and they said no. I think they're missing an opportunity for some nice jazz musicians, but that's just my opinion. I think a straight up bar/lounge is a great addition to Oceanside's downtown area. We will be back. read more

I was able to find beers that I have not been able to find anywhere else. Tried the sour that was on tap and bought the cascade kriek sour. There is a small corkage fee if you buy bottles and want to consume them there but it's worth it. They have a nice outdoor area that seems to be connected to the other businesses they are connected to. Will come back to try more beers.
